Looks yum Bit

BitOutOfPractice · 05/11/2016 20:43

I have just eaten 7654 calories and washed it down with prosecco Confused

If I say that both Yorkshire pudding and chips were involved you should start to get the picture

pabstblueribbon · 05/11/2016 20:56

I've just eaten about 5000 calories and feeling shit about it Sad back on the wagon tomorrow!

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 05/11/2016 21:19

Ah bugger both. Bloody special occasions, don't they know we're trying to only eat good things!! :) onwards and upwards, koko from tomorrow morning

Hello, I'd like to join in please!

I'm 10 stone at 5ft 6ins but would ideally like to be 9st 7lbs. Although I know I'm not exactly overweight, I am irrational in that if the scales say 10, I hate it!!! It's very silly....psychological issues there Hmm....all down to my mum. Bless her!

Anyway - I can't shake the knowledge that pre-kids (12 years ago) I was 9st 3. I put too much pressure on myself that I'm not the same weight now - don't know if anyone can relate Confused?

Limiting factors are:

  • even when I did a half marathon and was leaner, I was still 9st 9 at my lowest.
  • I'm hungry all the time!!

Any tips for losing a small amount of weight? Is it harder to shift than for people who have a lot to lose? Not boasting or being smug - it's a genuine question.

I'm 11.1 and a half but the extra half stone is all on my middle (I'm v tall :D). It needs to go!

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 06/11/2016 08:55

It's a while since I've been close to goal, but I think the trick there is to make small changes to your diet and up the exercise. Cause it needs to be sustainable - when you have a large amount to lose you need to rejig your eating habits completely, but when you are near goal they are very nearly right already. If that makes sense?

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 06/11/2016 08:58

Apart from that - I know the feeling of wanting to be the right side of 10stone (i've been trying to get there myself since I was about 11 years old I think!!) but - maybe your natural weight isn't that anymore?

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 06/11/2016 08:59

How tall is v tall, mumbo? Grin

wineusuallyhelps · 06/11/2016 09:35

You are wise beyond - perhaps a 20-something's childless body isn't the same deal as a 40 year old woman's!! I will bear that in mind.

My2centsworth · 06/11/2016 09:38

Bit and Pabs today is a new day. Write it off and start today. DH and I had a 'date night' last night 'teas not the best for losing weight either. Starting back with gusto today.

MumboNumber5 · 06/11/2016 11:04

just off 6ft beyond so my BMI is fine but my podgy waist isn't Grin.

ponygirlcurtis · 06/11/2016 11:19

Morning. Had an OK weekend eating wise and have drunk less than I would normally so I am hopeful that there might be a small shift soon. But my MFP has stopped registering my Fitbit calorie adjustment which is bloody annoy as I have been walking lots. Angry

stealtheatingtunnocks · 06/11/2016 11:27

I'm not losing weight, which was getting me very down. I'm MFPing, gym-ing and walking - lost a single fecking pound in a month...

...BUT, I have changed shape. My face is thinner, my skin is better, I have collarbones and have toned up my arms, there is even some muscle definition hiding in there so I don't look so bingo-wingy. I am MUCH fitter, my mood is better and I am sleeping better.

I have to fight the urge to step on the scales and cry. I have let that dial dictate my mood for years.

So, I will not weigh myself for three weeks. It can wait until my gym review.

Until then, I will concentrate on Non Scale Victories - today's is: I can zip up my fabulous black boots that I didn't wear all last winter because I couldn't squeeze my fat calves into them. Yay!

BitOutOfPractice · 06/11/2016 11:36

Wine hello! I absolutely agree that what was your ideal weight may not be it now. I was 8 stone 7 when I started uni. I got to 9 stone 7 in my early 40s and I looked dreadful. Too thin.

I'd say if you're hungry all the time you're probably eating empty calories?

And hello mumbo too. My 13yo daughter is the same height as you!

I thoroughly enjoyed my blow out last night. Had a good long sleep and raring to go again

BitOutOfPractice · 06/11/2016 11:38

Stealth that's a brilliant attitude. Hurrah for NSVs. I must try on some of my old boots.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/11/2016 11:41

Pony have you tried turning your phone on and off again. Mine did that mpf / Fitbit trick.

It's disheartening when it won't shift. Keep going though, it will happen

wineusuallyhelps · 06/11/2016 14:35

bitoutofpractice you make some good points! Re. empty calories - I eat healthily, but I know I've been reaching for the carbs more lately, e.g. having a piece of toast when I know some protein will fill me up for longer.

I've started MFP again today which makes me think twice before having extra little things I don't need. But I'm always amazed by how hard it is to get enough iron if I look at the detailed nutritional breakdown! Hmm

MumboNumber5 · 06/11/2016 15:08

Thanks for the welcome. MFP downloaded and went for a run too. I'm going to weigh myself weekly, but my main marker is a dress I want to wear at Xmas. Took a photo of myself in it and it's hideous right now!!!

wineusuallyhelps · 06/11/2016 16:28

mumbo mine is round my middle too. According to friends, drinking lots of water helps - maybe 3 litres a day. I'm only averaging one run a week due to time constraints, so I need to make that 2/3 if I can. Are you a jogger too or have you just started?

The other thing that I think contributes to belly fat is alcohol. It's my only vice - I do like a glass of wine or two (only small ones!) on an evening. I was only drinking 2-3 times a week but it's slipped into daily Blush.

I'm going to aim for Friday and Saturday only. Can't drink much at once anyway, so I will still only be having one or two at a time!

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/11/2016 18:50

I have put my fitbit through the wash Blush I need to remember that just because I can't see the numbers that it still counts .

It is one of my biggest motivations so I need to get past it .

Currently in a bowl of rice and hoping it will magically fix itself .

Too much booze this weekend but 2 pounds off so far this month .I'll take that .

BoredOfWaiting · 06/11/2016 21:06

Fell off the wagon a bit over the weekend not disastrous but had a few chocolates I could definitely have done without and annoyed with myself now. Especially since I have four social events on evenings this coming week which will involve food and booze so I'm going to have to be ultra disciplined about the choices I make.

I plan to be very good tomorrow and then on evenings when I'm out for dinner or drinks just have super healthy lunches and go to the gym each morning and then keep alcohol intake low and food as clean as possible. Determined to make this a good week failure is not an option! I want at least one pound off by next Sunday!

wineusuallyhelps · 06/11/2016 22:36

Ooh bored, sounds as if you've got a challenging week ahead! Good luck!

Managed a calorie deficit of -234 today on day one and my only 'treat' was an M&S fondant fancy! Must remember to wear my Polar watch every day as it counts the steps/exercise, then you get more calories I guess?!

Does anyone add their steps to MFP, or is that cheating on the calorie front?

MountainDweller · 06/11/2016 23:15

Wine I have been logging my exercise calories and eating most of them, though I've heard they can be over generous so it might not be a good idea. I've decided that if I don't lose (enough) weight eating them I will stop. Apparently I got a whopping 500 extra for (a lot of) housework on Thursday (I find that hard to believe - didn't eat those) And 200 for cooking dinner today! If I'd had a salad that would be negative calories!!

I am hopping on and off the scales most days... Today I am 600g down from last Monday. If I do my 'official' Monday weigh in and they have come back (as they are wont to do) I will be vair grumpy.

Weekend wasn't too bad. Within my calories today. Bit of a blow out dinner yesterday but still within my maintenance calories. I'm hoping I can get away with one day a week on maintenance calories so I have something to live for (whimper).

I have not told anyone irl I'm doing this. That is the beauty of calorie counting. Not even my DH, who keeps proposing desert! I just can't bear the thought of people watching my every mouthful.

I think my face is looking thinner, may be wishful thinking.
