Sorry to hear that, kiki. Take care of yourself.

wineusuallyhelps · 09/11/2016 18:38

Hope everyone is staying strong! I've kept the calories down today and avoided anything sweet, so I am going to allow myself a glass of wine (must live up to my MN name Wink).

Not enough activity though. Must go for a run but my kids are draining me of energy this week!

QuimReaper · 09/11/2016 19:02

Having a bit of a down day. I seem to be having a few of those lately Confused Maybe it's the seasons changing? Winter blues?

I've had a great day food-wise though, and not even really hungry. Went for a walk to try and revive myself and clocked up almost 7km, although I also took the dog out earlier so should have done about 9 today. He's so slow these days it's not great exercise though!

QuimReaper · 09/11/2016 19:06

wine motivating oneself to go for a run in November is impossible isn't it! Grin

Can anybody recommend anything good for, ahem, getting the old bowels moving? Just looking for something gentle like a tea or something, I'd like to have something on hand to help things along on / after Fast Days which sometimes seem to bung me up a bit Blush

MumboNumber5 · 09/11/2016 20:40

Take care kiki and I think I love you boop!

2lbs down and 5 more to go. No booze or obvious sugar or evening eating since Sunday. So boring but seems to be doing the trick.

BitOutOfPractice · 10/11/2016 01:05

Just checking in with my Slenderistas

Oh my goodness I've eaten and drunk to excess. But goodness I've enjoyed it and it's been great for business.

Left the bar relatively early before it all got messy. Now it's heels and make up off and tomorrow is another day

Howlongtillbedtime · 10/11/2016 07:07

Good morning all .

Boop it sounds like you have had a great couple of days I love the idea of you all glammed up playing with an oompa band .

kiki I am so sorry things are not imroving just yet for your mum Flowers

quim I have been feeling abit bluergh too , I do think in mycase it's the weather (and the loom of Christmas possibly )

I am cheerier this morning however . I have only been and gone and done it Grin 12.13 this morning so for the first time in a long time I am now under 13 stone !

I hope everyone has a good day .

vvviola · 10/11/2016 08:29

I'm down a kilo! Grin

And that's just according to the app I'm using to track my weight. I know that I weighed in at two kilos over that in the past few weeks (but that could have been pre-period bloating). So I'm pretty pleased with myself - particularly as it's just been down to making more sensible choices about lunches and whether I need to have pastries every morning (I still haven't managed a full fast day, but I have done a couple of mini fasts).

vvviola · 10/11/2016 08:32

Quim hot orange juice has always worked in those situations for me (was particularly useful when pregnant). Half a mug of freshly squeezed orange juice topped up with hot water from the kettle.

Don't know why it works so well (also helps with nasty colds when you aren't able to take decongestants)

DoinItFine · 10/11/2016 09:27

Kiki Flowers

We're all here when you need an outlet. Quite happy to talk about non-weight related issues.

Sending best thoughts for your mum and for you too.

Sorry you are feeling down, Quim. And sorry you are a bit bunged up. That's no fun. I found Fybogel good when things got very bad durung pregnancy. Hope it doesn't get to that stage.

Well done on your kilo, vviola!

I have no loss to subtract from the total.

No gain either.

I am not as focused as I was in the first few months.

Yesterday was a bit of an existential crisis day what with getting no sleep and then the election result I had been dreading coming true.

Onwards and downwards (or in my case maintaining the same trajectory).

DoinItFine · 10/11/2016 09:31

Oh forgot to say a big woop woop for Howlong breaking the 13st barrier!

Well bloody done :)

You have to enjoy your milestones in this business.

Think that's why kilos don't work for me - I don't know what counts as a milestone. The tens??

HairsprayBabe · 10/11/2016 09:41

oop not posted in a few days as have been away with work and away from the scales 13 dead again Sad tried to be good when I was away but it is so hard when you can only choose from a few set options, might do one of those tea cleanses to try and reboot the system!

BitOutOfPractice · 10/11/2016 09:41

Morning!

Well done on all the losses. I love a new stone barrier. So very well done howlong

I'm sorry some of you are feeling down. It's a rotten time of year to feel gloomy when it's so grey and miserable.

Conference over. I've had a cooked breakfast as a last blow out and off to catch my train home. I'm tired. It's been pretty full on but I have made some great connections to follow up on.

Need to regroup my wagons diet wise now. Dreading the scales tomorrow

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 10/11/2016 10:12

Morning! Well done HowLong! And Boop just reading about the week you have had is making me tired!

Fast day here. Planning on getting through the day on black coffee and the occasional tea, and then having some beans on toast late afternoon. I am struggling with fast meal ideas while the weather is so cold and bleurgh, I feel like I want hot, filling meals, which on 500cals is not easy to do. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

QuimReaper · 10/11/2016 10:28

WOOOOOOOOP howlong what a boost that must give you, well bloody done! Grin

And well done on the kilo vviola that's fab! Great suggestion on the orange juice, have got straight on it and it's really yummy on a cold morning.

And thank you Doin Flowers Feeling better today! I work in kgs because a single kg can count as a milestone... Blush

QuimReaper · 10/11/2016 10:39

Spurious Any dietary requirements? I swear by soup for winter fast days: Miso soup which is only 17 calories and miraculously filling so makes a terrific snack; Covent Garden "skinny" soups, most of which come in at about 130 calories for half the tub; the "Yorkshire Provender" soup is incredibly delicious and satisfying and only 150kcals for half the tub. I also have those Heinz cup-a-soup sachets which I surprisingly really like and come in at about 70 or 80 calories.

Also anything with eggs is your friend. Whack up an omelette with all the veg you can find and it fills you up for ages.

My favourite-ever Fast Day meal is a smoked haddock fillet, a poached egg and a huge pile of wilted spinach. It's very rich and salty (especially, er, if you add a good pinch of salt like I do...) so feels genuinely filling, and is easily under 200 calories. About 80 for the fillet and 70 for the egg depending on the sizes, obviously, and then the spinach is basically free. I had it for my lunch yesterday and wasn't hungry again until after 8pm.

QuimReaper · 10/11/2016 10:43

(I'd stay away from toast personally, because it doesn't fill you up for all that long.)

BOOP I maintain that your life is fabulous - it sounds like a fantastic week, and like you still managed to exercise a reasonable amount of restraint, which is more than I'd have managed!

Kiki hope you're holidng up. As Doin says, come and chat if you feel like it.

BitOutOfPractice · 10/11/2016 10:53

How about a vegetable curry.

I do a really lovely cauliflower and cashew curry in the slow cooker. Really easy and ready for you when you're hungry

BitOutOfPractice · 10/11/2016 10:57

Aw thanks! I promise you it's not glam. I'll be back in my trackie bottoms cooking the kids' tea this afternoon.

I'm hoping my full English will keep me going till tea time. I've got some Hairy Dieters mince with tumbled spuds waiting for me to have for dinner. It's really delicious as comfort good on a cold Autumn day. Then I really need to focus focus focus because I feel I'm letting the side down here when you're all doing so well Blush

BitOutOfPractice · 10/11/2016 10:58

Quim those are fab low cal ideas. I love wilted spinach and eggs. I wish I could love smoked fish but I just can't. Maybe I need to give it another try.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 10/11/2016 10:59

I mix the two suggestions together and make curry with veg and zusch (?) it up to make a soup Grin

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 10/11/2016 11:01

This is what was in the freezer soup that I found this week...

It's Mo-Slender! The 'lose 7lbs' in November challenge thread.
QuimReaper · 10/11/2016 11:32

Oh the slowcooker is so your friend! I like it because you do all the prepping in the morning when your resolve is saintly, and then it fills the house with mouthwatering smells which stop you thinking "I wish we were having fish and chips".

BOOP how about unsmoked fish? I tend to do plain haddock fillets with a huge pile of veg sizzled in a spoon of cream sauce and a dash of wine, and then sprinkled with a tiny bit of Parmesan, and DH has mash with it. A plain fillet would work just as well with a poached egg and spinach though.

I wish my DH would eat curry... I'm not mad-keen either so have never become any good at it, but I'd branch out a bit to keep my diet interesting if he'd not be so bleddy stubborn.

BitOutOfPractice · 10/11/2016 11:54

Yes I could I do like fish. So long as it's not too fishy. Being with a Dutchman definitely makes me more adventurous but I do draw the line at the raw herrings he seems to believe are an acceptable breakfast choice Confused
