There's a question:

Anyone want to share Top Tips for Not Eating To Manage Emotion?

I'm going to see a neurologist with Small today, he's had some very odd symptoms. Am a bit worried, which is a reasonable reaction. But, spooning homemade Reese into gob is not the answer.

What do you do to manage stress instead of mindless eating?

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 08/11/2016 10:11

Start smoking? not helpful

Mindfulness is recommended in the BSD book, but I don't get on with it

BitOutOfPractice · 08/11/2016 10:17

Drink not helpful either

Exercise I guess. Talk to someone.

Good luck today. Hope you get done answers about small Flowers

MumboNumber5 · 08/11/2016 10:24

Good luck today!

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 08/11/2016 10:24

Do you want to share here? That might help :)

fishyfishyfishfish · 08/11/2016 10:43

Practicing mindfulness and doing exercise are good suggestions. Other than that I would guess it's just about finding a distraction that works for you. I'm trying mint tea instead of snacking... it occasionally works!

fishyfishyfishfish · 08/11/2016 10:43

Oh & chewing gum sometimes helps me when I feel anxious

Thistimebaby · 08/11/2016 10:45

Can I join tooSmile. Want to lose 7lbs this month. Would really love too. I'm doing mindful eating which works for me.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/11/2016 10:57

Of course you can thistime the more the merrier.

QuimReaper · 08/11/2016 10:57

Well done on the losses wine and How and on the NSV stealth!

The only successful strategy I ever employed to avoid eating was to treat myself to re-reading an old favourite book of mine. I think it was His Dark Materials Trilogy or it might have been a Harry Potter binge Blush I'm terrible could re-read old friends forever, but limit myself to doing more constructive things. I let myself curl up with a cup of tea and get lost in it as a sort of "compensation" for not being allowed food or wine. Films or television didn't work because I totally associate them with eating and drinking so I just felt deprived and not like I was unwinding, but getting into bed early and snuggling down with the book made me feel like a kid again and didn't make me crave anything.

Hot bubble bath is also a good one (although that's another thing I now associate with wine Hmm)

I wonder if that makes any sense...

QuimReaper · 08/11/2016 11:01

BOOP I have no will power in these things, so I think I'd just make a point of drinking vodka and tonic / soda: I find them much less more-ish than wine, and don't mind switching to a virgin after a couple. Maybe just me!

Thistimebaby · 08/11/2016 11:09

Thank you Bit Smile

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 08/11/2016 11:18

I've set my Fitbit alarm to go off once an hour during the day to make sure I get up and walk a bit

Last weeks task was getting on the 800cal wagon and getting up at or before 8am, this week it's the Fitbit and making sure I have 2l plain water on top of my copious tea consumption, next week I will start Pilates again and do ten mins at least three times.
That's my plan anyway, I think it's realistic considering my shit health...

Lubilu28 · 08/11/2016 11:22

I need to join!! I have been dieting for the past 3 weeks, I lost 5.5lbs in the first week and felt great and really motivated but in the last 2 weeks only .5lbs lost :(!! I know it's early days and I just need to keep going but so hard to stick to it for such a small amount of weight loss! Need to lose 3st in total!! need to stay motivated I CAN DO THIS!! Grin

Thistimebaby · 08/11/2016 11:25

Lub 5lbs is really really good. Keeping it off is the hard bit and you have done that. Keep going and be mindful of what, why and how you eat Smile

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 08/11/2016 11:26

Hi lubilu, welcome :) what diet are you doing? There will probably be someone here on the same who can offer tweaks

YoScienceBitch · 08/11/2016 11:34

Hi can I join? I've lost 7 pounds and am hoping to lose another!

Lubilu28 · 08/11/2016 11:43

I'm not really following a diet as such just not eating any rubbish!! I'm logging my calories into my fitness pal, which I'm always under my goal of 1500, I'm doing davina fit in 15 every day in the week, I'm also swimming twice a week and going on walks, I have a very active 8 month old so I struggle to fit a lot of exercise in lol I think I'm just getting impatient!! I lost about 5 stone from 2010-2014 and kept it off till I got married in 2015, fell pregnant on the honeymoon and piled it back on!! So I know I can do it but so hard when I look back at photos and just want to be there again wearing that size 10 dress instead of struggling to fit into a 14!!! Xxx

Thistimebaby · 08/11/2016 11:52

Welcome Yoscience I'm new too Smile

QuimReaper · 08/11/2016 11:59

Welcome Thistime Yoscience and Lubilu!

Lu 10lbs in 5 weeks is amazing!

YoScienceBitch · 08/11/2016 12:01

What do people find isn't working best for them? I've cut out all processed food and it's working really well!

YoScienceBitch · 08/11/2016 12:01

IS*

BitOutOfPractice · 08/11/2016 12:37

Logging everything is the key for me. Thatvand planning.

I'm on the train with my homemade soup and protein snack pot from m&is feeling very virtuous

QuimReaper · 08/11/2016 13:09

YoScience fasting works well for me.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 08/11/2016 13:39

Not snacking I think. Even when 'dieting' I have always allowed for a snack in the evenings, but at the moment I simply don't have it - and I don't miss it really. I get a bit rumbly in the evenings, but just have a cup of herbal tea and that's it.

Another thing for me is logging my day in mfp as early as possible. So I know that I do not have the calories spare for whatever I fancy
