The last thread inspired us to shift the pounds so let's kick October's butt too!

Checking in - haven't been around much because I rapidly abandoned fasting and moved on to the No S Diet, which is sloooooow. I have lost nothing, but I am not too downcast because I know I haven't eaten snacks, sweets or seconds for a week (apart from on days that start with S) and that has to be good for me! This diet is supposed to train you how to eat like a thin person, and the weight loss happens very very slowly. I'm okay with that. if I keep repeating that it must sink in, right?

I was in that first week flush of excitement and finding it all very easy, and then Bake Off came along and it was hard not to reach for the chocolate in the cupboard! Next challenge will be getting through Friday - can I look after the kids all day without resorting to finishing off half-eaten bits of bagel? It is surprisingly difficult to stop myself eating a piece of stone-cold hardened bagel that was abandoned on the sofa an hour ago by small child. Why do I even want to eat that?

At least I'm allowed two alcoholic drinks a night, if I want them, and red wine is beneficial to one's health.

Have an amazing time BOOP - I'm very jealous!

plumstone · 14/10/2016 08:16

Weigh in day here and 0.5lb off taking me to 10.10. Wondering if it has been the Chickpeas.

Have menu planned for the next week and its turned out to be a dairy and veggie type of week - will be interesting to see if that impacts the loss. Still on track for half stone in October but will have to focus this week!!

Lots of fresh air and exercise for the weekend planned and less focus on food!!!! have a great weekend!!

BitOutOfPractice · 14/10/2016 10:36

Hello lovely Offtoberists. I have just found some Portuguese wifi so thought I'd say hello.

All my intentions of not going too mad have evaporated in the sun I'm afraid. Too much wine yesterday. Planning a long walk and better food choices today.

Well done on the losses

Oh BOOP you HAVE to go mad in Portugal, the Vinho Verde is too good to pass up!

When we were there we got obsessed with this incredibly moist, gooey orange cake. It was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten and I don't tend to go in for cake much.

QuimReaper · 14/10/2016 14:17

I'm having a Fast Day on a Friday Shock I've almost never done this...

DoinItFine · 14/10/2016 16:52

Fast day on a Friday is hardcore, Quim.

Hope it's not too painful.

Bit, if you don't go mad in Portugal, you will have to come back early and let someone who would appreciate it go over.

ponygirlcurtis · 14/10/2016 18:09

Grin Doin - I selflessly volunteer to go to Portugal and go totally mad on wine and cake!

Go for it Quim.

MsHeffalump · 14/10/2016 19:31

How's it working out so far, Quim?

I just worked out how many calories of milk I used to drink. ~500 a day. Slightly staggered by that, and very happy to have switched to milkless rooibos!

DoinItFine · 14/10/2016 20:00

pony - that is the kind of heroism we need on this thread.

Stand by in case corporal BOOP lets us all down Wink

ponygirlcurtis · 15/10/2016 09:41

Happy to take one for the team, Doin. Just the kind of gal I am. Wink

MsH I did that too, realised I was using up a fair number of cals on milk for tea. I have really cut back.

I will hopefully get in a little gym time today. Start of our October half-term holiday so I will need to keep an eye on my eating drinking over the next week.

MsHeffalump · 15/10/2016 11:56

There was also my habit of swigging half a pint straight out of the bottle at least once a day. Why must milk be so delicious?

Anyway. Scales bounced up this morning. I thought, I bet that's impending-period bloat. And period just arrived. I will not use this as an excuse for chocolate. I will not!

Wiggleyfingers · 15/10/2016 12:13

Hi fellow weight-lossers.

I'm cautiously peeking out from the sand where my head has been so cosily buried for the last year!

I'm getting married in 9 months and I'm beginning to think I should do something about this extra weight sooner rather than later. It sounds like you are all doing an amazing job and I would very much like to be part of your club!

My game plan is to be brutally honest about what I'm eating. So little thought goes into it right now that I know it's going to be hideous when I finally start tracking it. Eek.

Howlongtillbedtime · 15/10/2016 14:36

Hello all , how's it going ?

I have bucked up since my weigh in Wednesday . I have gone back to tracking everything and I hope this will make the difference this week .

And I did (a very slow) 5k on the treadmill today ( too much of a wuss to go outside where actual people coulkd see me )

Hi wiggley congratulations on the wedding .How much are you wanting to lose ? I have got at least two stone to go .

ChickenVindaloo · 15/10/2016 14:43

Went out for dinner with a friend (special celebration) and had bread as well as dessert. But I don't drink.

Cut back the next day to balance it out and stayed the same weight.

I seem to have only lost 1-2lbs so far this month but still on the right path in the right direction.

In the past, if I had a bad meal/day, I would chuck the toys out of the pram and binge for a week afterwards!

ChickenVindaloo · 15/10/2016 14:45

It's all the sodding threads on here about CAKES that are doing me in (the ones about would you pay £200 for this professional cake?) Give me a craving! I bought a cake, ate 1 slice one day, another slice the other day and THREW THE REST IN THE BIN (yay me!)

Howlongtillbedtime · 15/10/2016 15:29

That is impressive ! Well done you indeed . I looked at those cake threads and then backed away to stop myself .

I am meal planning on this exciting Saturday which does help keep me on the straight and narrow . I need to not shop for dinner when I am hungry for dinner which I have done in the past . And then up with curry or a pie . Ooops.

Wiggleyfingers · 15/10/2016 17:41

I agree! The cake threads are such a temptation! I need to lose about a stone and a half, I recently had my mirena coil removed, I thought maybe that was the reason why I had put on weight. Sadly, 8 weeks later, nothing has changed. I think meal planning for the week is a great idea! I'm going to start now. Smile

Howlongtillbedtime · 15/10/2016 20:49

A stone and half is doable for sure . Good luck .

Meal planning definitely helps me . I have had 2 glasses of wine ( tracked ) and I now want to order a curry but my plan tells me I have a place fillet , sweet potatoes and salad which is annoying but I will stick to it .

Bunnyjo · 15/10/2016 21:14

Weighed myself this morning and I was 13st 0.5lb, so I have lost 5lb in October so far. I am so close to being 12-something now (which obviously sounds so much better than 13st 0.5lb, despite it only being 1lb difference), so that is my aim for next week.

Some excellent weight losses, ladies, and I hope you're having a fabulous holiday, BOOP.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/10/2016 13:29

Hello! I'm back! God that was a glorious three days of sunshine and wine and fun. Didn't eat too much crap (mostly fish) but my goodness me we sank some booze!

OP posts:
MsHeffalump · 16/10/2016 19:16

That's only eight ounces, Bunny. One big poo and you're there!

Irritatingly, this period-bloat has pushed me from Xst 12.5lbs to X+1st 1lb. Haven't hit the chocolate yet though...

Bunnyjo · 16/10/2016 19:33

Thank you! Annoyingly, I am on codeine for an existing knee injury and a big poo would be very welcome for more than one reason - bloody constipation Sad

However, I do have some fantastic news to report. We got some new Aria scales yesterday so I jumped on those, and my original scales, this morning to see what the difference was between the two scales and I was delighted to see 12st 13lb on both! If only I could lose 1.5lb every day Grin

I feel your pain too, MsHeffalump. I am due to experience the period bloat very soon; so, with that and the blasted constipation, I shan't celebrate being 12-something for a few days yet...

BitOutOfPractice · 16/10/2016 20:20

Bunny I feel your codeine constipation pain. Tmi?

Morning everyone just back from running in the moonlight, really busy day today so had to fit it in somehow!
Weight today is 10 stone 9 lb so that's 4 pound off since the start of October. This was some holiday weight I must confess but very glad to see it gone.
I would love to get to 9 stone 13 but realistically I think if I could get to 10 6 I would be happy. In July 2015 my weight was 18 stone so sometimes when I look at the scale I have to look twice as I still find it hard to believe I am 10 stone anything ! Good losses to us all this week
