The last thread inspired us to shift the pounds so let's kick October's butt too!

Also, Quim, it's hard when winter and its germs and darkness get in the way of exercise.

I think avoiding the pool when you were feeling pre-cold was probably smart. :)

Getting properly sick is no good.

Good luck with studying, Hello. It's definitely good to know when weight loss is not a priority. Just try not to lose your way (weigh? Wink) entirely.

plumstone · 12/10/2016 09:25

Morning all - Sorry to hear about your Dad Doin - cancer sucks,

Re tummy fat - have you upped your water? I still have the jelly belly thing going on but lots of water each day stops the bloating and minimises as much as possible!! I am 4 litres a day and definitely helps

Hoping for a 1lb.5 loss this week - which would take me to 10"9 and thats me on track for the 7lbs loss in October!!!!

Spent yesterday motivating myself by looking at sunny beaches for my holiday, If I loose this weight and get no bonus then I will eat my body weight in cheese which if I start with Bootcamp on the 24th will be fine Grin

Whoever it was that is trying to up their steps to 15k a day - Massive respect, I struggle to get above 12k more than a couple of days a week!!!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Helloheyhi · 12/10/2016 10:03

That's really shit DIT, what a horrible and scary time for all of you. I am thinking of you all. Have you looked into the complan type drinks for your dad?
Liking the clever play on words there!

re the tummy fat, sadly we can't spot reduce. However, decreased alcohol level, low carbs intake, high protein diet, total body strengthening exercises along with some cardio and weight lifting can all reduce the stomach fat and aids in getting that sculptured look. The new rules of lifting for women have a very good program to follow.

Well done to all you losers!

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 12/10/2016 10:30

Hi all, are you accepting newbies? Haven't read through the thread but I'm looking for support. Moved house in April & just begrudgingly weighed myself after months of pissing around & I'm disappointed as I weight over a stone heavier than I was then. Over 4 stone heavier than I should be! But fresh start now, I'm back to work next week after 13 months of mat leave & it's time to lose some 'baby weight' Grin (aka eating too much). How is everyone else getting on?

Stats: 5ft 5, 14 st 2lb, BMI 32.9

BitOutOfPractice · 12/10/2016 10:44

Morning! And welcome let. Your user name made me smile. I understand that the naming process is rather frustrating nowadays Grin You are most welcome and good luck with the back-to-work and diet plans

plum my step target is 8000 a day. I have a very sedentary job, no commute or school run so I have to really work to even get that. I usually get to 9000 or so but that is a lot lot more than before I got my fitbit

Doin I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Cancer is bastard Sad

Get well soon quim. Best not to swim with a cold

Bit it was driving me mad trying to chose a name. Everything is taken Grin

Thanks I'm hoping I won't be too upset next week but my pfb currently has chicken pox & I am just dreading the work/life balance. But I think it will do my eating habits good as when he naps during the day I tend to binge. Hoping I'll be too busy to remember to eat (ha - they told me that would happen on Mat leave but believe me I find the time Blush)

Speaking of fitbits - I do have one but find it hurts my wrist wearing it all the time. I don't like to wear bracelets/watches either. Will a bog standard pedometer do the job as I really want to track my steps?

BitOutOfPractice · 12/10/2016 11:42

Do you have an iphone? There's a step tracker on there but you need to have t with you all the time

OP posts:
LetMeHaveABloodyName · 12/10/2016 12:37

Oh yes I have an iphone! Will investigate
usually have my phone glued to my hip

Helloheyhi · 12/10/2016 12:54

Wow thanks BOOP didn't know there was such a thing. Prompted me to check mine and voila what do you know, the sneaky little thing has been quietly running in the background!

BitOutOfPractice · 12/10/2016 13:13

I didn't realise either till recently!

Target achieved! Seven pounds exactly shifted in twelve days. I will not celebrate with biscuits, I will not celebrate with biscuits...

Welcome Let! I am v. jealous of your 14st 2. I was last that weight in 2012, having lost four stone prior to ttc. Then the third trimester happened. It was a bit of a cake fest that lasted four years.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/10/2016 18:03

Wow heff' that's absolutely brilliant. Tips and inspiration please! Star

OP posts:
DoinItFine · 12/10/2016 18:53

Wow, Heff, that's outstanding.

Don't celebrate with biscuits, you'll regret it later.

I wonder how I will weigh in tomorrow.

Hoping for a good loss.

Would like to move from serious to more gentle weight loss measures, because it can be quite restrictive being so careful.

Also I can feel my resolve slipping. I can't keep this level up forever.

MsHeffalump · 12/10/2016 18:58

Fall off the wagon for the latter part of every month. Have a lovely first-week-whoosh effect at the start of the following month. I suspect this means that I usually carry about half a stone of partially digested food and bloat at all times. And it's clearly also cheating, but sod it, it's an excellent motivational bump each month and that's better for my brain.

That and 16:8. If you view it as must fit entire day's worth of calories into a mere eight hours it'd work so long as a whole day's calories is lower than you need. If you view it as picture the whole day with food spread out as normal, then skip the first and the last few hours, it's surprising how fast you can adjust your appetite and quit the evening nibbles.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 12/10/2016 20:18

That's a brilliant summary of 16:8!

I've lost so far this week. I don't know how Hmm

ponygirlcurtis · 12/10/2016 22:30

Some fantastic losses, brilliant!

I am not losing much anything this month, and my weight reality is that I am only a few pounds down from the weight I have been stuck at most of this year. But somehow just a few pounds seems to have made a difference to my shape - I have had several people asking me if I have lost weight this week. Don't want to go back up and lose that so going to really try and get my mojo back. I like your idea MsH of getting that first week whoosh every month, I am hoping for that since I certainly haven't been very focused so far.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Doin. Cancer just sucks. Hope he's fighting fit very soon.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/10/2016 23:34

I had a big whoosh last month. October's whoosh is more elusive and I'm off to Portugal for a last minute cheeky weekend in the sun tomorrow morning

OP posts:
TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 13/10/2016 07:11

Had a little weigh in this morning and 2lbs down - that will motivate me going into the weekend. Happy days! Hope you're all well x

DoinItFine · 13/10/2016 07:55

2lbs down for me too. :)

That's 4lbs in October.

I'm 9.7 stone now, which is pretty much a full stone since I started at the start of September.

I'm going to keep going as I have been but with more allowances for special occasions. It will slow down any loss, but that's fine.

Massive Portugal Envy, Bit. Lucky thing.

pony - I know those few pounds! You can lose a stone and see it yourself but nobody notices. Then you go over a hump and suddenly everyone else can see it and you know it was just a tiny loss that made it noticeable.

It's great to get over it though. :)

This is a good loss week. The world feels lighter this morning for sure. Grin

MsHeffalump · 13/10/2016 08:29

Yay for 2lb losses!

I checked the calendar - I note my weight on it whenever I weigh - and I'm sixteen pounds down since joining the thread in August. It may look better written as 1st 2lbs? Over a stone? Yes, I like that. But I'll be happier when it's one and a half down cos then I will have averaged seven pounds a month.

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 13/10/2016 08:40

Heff oh I know all about the fourth trimester Grin. Everyone told me I'd lose weight really quickly as I'm a 'young mum' (well early 20s). Nope, I've definitely enjoyed this year off scoffing my face Blush. I only really want to lose weight as I want another baby soon, I'm too tired to care how I look yet Grin

I've never heard of 16:8 - so is that what some of you are doing?!

Wow well done for all the losses. How often are you all weighing yourself? I have a bad habit of stepping on the scales every day when I'm dieting then getting frustrated. I've lost half a lb since yesterday Smile must stop the daily weighing. I just desperately want to be in the 13s again!

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 13/10/2016 08:41

Also jealous about Portugal, although I've just got back from Majorca so shouldn't be greedy Wink

MsHeffalump · 13/10/2016 08:52

I just sort of naturally gravitated towards 16:8 without knowing anything about it. It struck me that, as a fairly enormous person, my body didn't really need calories in the evening - don't use many while you're sleeping! So I stopped eating after tea. As my main problem was devouring my body weight in junk once DD went to bed, cutting out evening eating really helps.

And I just checked the BMI calculator - I am no longer heavy enough to qualify for NHS bariatric surgery!

People saying "you'll lose weight easily" annoy me though. They said it to me after I gave birth; they said it to me as I approached puberty in a coccoon of puppy fat. All it did was make me think "brilliant, I'm going to magically lose weight!" while I continued stuffing my face.

Not weighing every day. If yesterday was a good day then I hop on the scales first thing. If yesterday disintegrated into gluttony I'll leave it a few days!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/10/2016 08:57

Ooo have a wonderful break Boop

I'm a pound down this morning. I think that's two for the month but will have to go back and check my first post!

plumstone · 13/10/2016 09:20

Have a fab break Boop, hoping for a 1lb loss tomorrow - yesterday went a tad off piste. Ended up at the theatre - totally unexpected and fab play, however meant I could't go home before going out - so felt justified in two pieces of shortbread before leaving work, a soy hot chocolate (just a small one) and then a glass of wine at the cinema and then, because I hadn't consumed enough un necessary calories I had a bag of crisps while waiting for the bus home - back on it today and the goal is 10.9 tomorrow morning. May have to hold off till Monday to get the result I want - but hey ho!!

On a whoosh at the start of the month - I aim for this as TOTM kicks in the last seven days of each month, so the goal that week is to just stay the same and then refocus once its done!!!
