Have fun & make the most of your night away Need WinkWink
Well done on the loss Pyjamas !

pyjamas89 · 06/11/2016 17:43

Loli - I laughed reading that, that may or may not be the year I was born... Grin Well done, that is absolutely brilliant Star

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 06/11/2016 18:20

Great to read that everyone's doing so well and you all sound in great form!

Loli so glad you had a lovely weekend last week and that you're starting to feel some good effects. Fingers crossed for your DD. Wahoo about the size 12s!!!! That's fantastic Star well done Grin. And wow that you're almost at the 50lb mark!!!

Not you've been doing so brilliantly with the exercising - kettlebells and gym class! And hoovering and shopping are def exercise too! Those skinny jeans will start to feel loose this week I am sure of it.

Sugar I can well understand being fed up with calorie counting - it's very boring Sad. I agree that a few days of maintenance is a great plan - you just need a breather and to recharge your batteries. Keep remembering how fantastically you've done - 60lbs!!! Star And you do sound like you've got a gorgeous figure - swit swoo Wink

Cora sorry about the stoopid scales but it must be bloat/water. Your averages have been really good. It's very disheartening but you might have a whoosh soon!

Sesame we need Hopefully back to get some inspiration for winter coats Grin but I agree with Not it's an excuse to go shopping! It's annoying alright how weight doesn't always come off where we want it to Angry.

Bath that's brilliant about the jeans! And wow the lbs are flying off you now - what did I tell you Grin

SesameSparkle · 06/11/2016 21:55

not hmm embarrassing bodies.... I reckon I'd be a good candidate after losing over 5st.... I'd get a free tummy tuck right....? Anyway I like your wittering, gives me something to look forward to when I refresh the thread of a morning. Smile

bath time to learn to love those legs, I'm sure they can't be that bad, and the skirt/opaques look can look lovely on all different shapes. I was doing it when I was a plus sizer.... Well done on the loss - yes it looks like it is working! Smile

cora did you give in to the takeaway last night, or stick with the plan?

need welcome

pj well done on the loss and the park run too! I have never made it to a park run.... too early for me..... Hope you get that boiler fixed soon, it's cold! Flowers

loli woohoo go you and the size 12s!! Grin

dawhead sounds like you are seeing some good visible progress. It's nice to see that jawline emerge. You new figure sounds lovely - pulling in that emerging waist with a wide belt or some such would probably create a flattering line for you.

Well I've been completely off plan the last 3 days. Finished on 3,400 on Friday - so managed to eat an extra days worth of calories on all sorts of junk.... biscuits, crisps, cheese vodka.... what the hell was I thinking...? Then yesterday I finished 580 cal over, was round at my mum's, big bowl of ice cream for pudding, followed by raiding the grandchildren treat cupboard.... Today I went out for lunch, and then in the afternoon I had a scone with the full works, clotted cream and jam. No Sunday run this week either. I reckon that's got to be a lb's worth of calorie gain in all that. Apart from the dining out/social part, I can't say I enjoyed it all either. There might be a lesson in there somewhere..... Hmm

Not2bObvious · 07/11/2016 06:29

Sounds like a delicious weekend sesame, drooling at the scone....
Well done on the park run pj, I've done a few and agree they're a brilliant resource. And 1.5lb off is great too - I think weighing in like that is genius, does it give you a printout? I love stuff like that so I can compare week on week
need - very simple & interesting, you're right, accepting you can't get away with the excess bites/bars and booze in my case is a bitter but necessary pill to swallow. Sometimes I wonder if they did a secret eater hidden camera on me, how bad the problem would be!
dawg your weekend is what I would call saintly! The root canal will keep you from solid food for a few hours so kind of enforced fasting.
loli wit woo on the size 12's, that's brilliant.
Lovely roast dinner yesterday which covered lunch and dinner but a few too many mini bars after with some 🍷pushed the cals up. All in all though, not a very bad weekend. Back to the grind today, 4 days before Friday official weigh in & I need to get under 11.5 - then my Christmas challenge starts the following Monday, weigh in & measurements Wednesday or Thursday. Dreading and looking forward to it at the same time. I need some accountability. Anyway wittering over, everyone all set for putting in a good week? No excuses (queen of them here), no messing, just a decent calories controlled week? Let's go!

Sugarandsalt · 07/11/2016 07:50

Hello everyone! I'm back after falling off the wagon for a few days! Sounds like some great weekends.

Feel much better after a few days of taking it easy, and not counting calories. I had dessert both days and a few chocolate biscuits but don't think I went madly off track otherwise. DH was starting to worry I was getting obsessed (frustrated by plateaus) so he was pleased I took a few days off. I've promised him that I won't hop on scales for 2 weeks but I'm back on track now calories wise😀.

Breakfast was oats+chia seeds (220 cals), dinner is a sausage and mixed bean casserole (not the healthiest of choices but it's lean sausage meat and loads of veg- DH requested it yesterday and DD pronounced it "yummy, it tastes like spicy and gooeySmile") which is 550cals. Leaving me space for a nice chicken soup or something for lunch.

Bathsheba3 · 07/11/2016 13:43

Root canal sounds awful Dawhead, as well as expensive. Does that mean just soup & ice cream for a day or two? Nice to hear from you too Sesame & sugar. We love sausage & bean casserole here too.

I've just heated up leftover veg with some lentils and pesto for my lunch. Was going to have soup, but wanted a bit more taste. Yum. Will be strict again this week, and do my best to stick to 1200. I've had no chocolate / sugar now for the week, but did have a GnT Friday, and 2 glasses wine Sat & Sunday eves. Quite proud of that!

Anyone feeling generally lethargic or is it just me?

Needastrongone · 07/11/2016 16:26

Afternoon. Thanks for the further welcomes. Sorry is I miss anyone below. Smile

Wow *Lolimax, that's a huge difference in sizing, and a huge boost to confidence, well done indeed.

Dawhead Great progress to see changes visibly. Ouch to the root canal (and associated bill).

Sausage and bean casserole sounds lovely, served with extra veg, surely not too bad? Good quality sausages? Lovely cold weather meal.

Not2 Sounds like you have all the incentives you require to keep on track there. Love a roast dinner.

Our hotel break was wonderful. We had such a lovely time. The place and staff were attentive and thoughtful and the food was out of this world. I ate and drank too much but today is another day..

Does anyone know how to log a restaurant meal on MFP? I logged the calories as best I could last night, and assumed I was way way over daily target.

Today I was very good and had fresh porridge for brekkie instead of the cooked breakfast on offer. It had a fruit compote with it and I had fresh water melon and pineapple too. Just a waitrose edamame bean salad for lunch and tonight DH is making a home made chicken curry from scratch so pretty healthy.

I actually ended up with cellulitus (sp) this weekend which I didn't mention, from insect bites sustained from the Parkrun!! Ended up at A&E, but the antibiotics are kicking in now and I feel tons better, even from yesterday. But no running for a few days so my exercise calories are grim. I'll walk the dogs again tomorrow, which easily covers my 10,000 steps at least.

Also, does anyone do the premium MFP?

It's really served to focus my mind on empty calories so far MFP, but I'm a newbie to all this really. Smile

Bathsheba3 · 07/11/2016 19:53

Oh no need - cellulitis is nasty. And on your night away. Glad you are on the mend.

I don't think there's an easy way to input restaurant meals. I try to find the nearest equivalent - e.g. yesterday I found a carvery roast chicken dinner for 536 cals (rather than a 350 calorie supermarket one - too low calories for my portion size!), and onto that I added 1/3 pack red cabbage 160 cals. So whole meal came to 696 which sounded right, given my portion.

Sometimes I will input everything individually, but most of the time I can't be bothered.

Kitchen closed at 1134 if I keep off the vino, and clocked-up over 10,000 steps. Long dog power-walk followed by trip down to shops. Car STILL at the garage.

Sugarandsalt · 07/11/2016 20:19

Need hope you recover soon. Bath good day by the sounds of things.

I'm in a 1380, 50 over target and clocked up 16000 steps. I'm currently preparing a chicken leek and mustard casserole to throw in slow cooker in morning. I'm conferencing for the next few days 2 hours from home so will be out early and home late, so want to be prepared!

coragreta · 07/11/2016 21:41

Seems like some pretty heavy weekends. I was in hospital with my lo on Saturday so ended up with a takeaway at 9:30 when we finally got home. So a bit over but not too bad. (Lo completely fine by the way). I am so on it this week. I'm determined. Finished in 1254. That's ok and finished off the Halloween choc so there's nothing left to tempt me.
Hope everyone has a good week and we see lots of loses.
The countdown to Christmas sounds good. I've set myself a Christmas goal of 9lbs. Not sure if I'll make it but I'm going to try.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 08/11/2016 01:06

Hi everyone, can I please join? I have 100lbs to lose (the shame) but have no willpower and major food issues.

I managed to quit smoking nearly 7 months ago and now it's time to tackle my weight. I am so tired of being a fat blob but I have no idea where to begin. Any help is hugely appreciated. I am AnnieOnAMapleLeaf on MFP.

Not2bObvious · 08/11/2016 06:35

You're very welcome annie, well done for coming on board. Where to start will be with small manageable steps, what were your eating habits like before? I'd start with drinking plenty of water, planning 3 meals a day which should've filling & balanced, and avoiding snacking if at all possible or if not reduce snacks (drink water instead)
Of course I say all this as I'm doing v little of it myself at the moment 😉 And start some sort of activity, 20 minutes walking a day if you can. Break the weight into chunks, say 7lb at a time. You've taken the first step, which is usually the scales😁 Keep posting and be proud you're ready to change.
Mixed up messy day yesterday but better plan in place today. Hoping to go to the gym tonight, 1 week to go until my challenge starts so I want a bit of a head start. Awake since 5am which is a pain in the bum - means I'm catatonic by 9pm, although if I make it to the gym I may be pumped up instead!

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 08/11/2016 07:21

I'll join you on a Christmas countdown Cora. Hope you have comfy shoes sugar with all those steps. You must literally be on your feet all day!
Welcome Annie. Dig deep and the willpower IS there. As Not wisely says set yourself small goals. My top tip - whatever is your downfall, don't buy it / have it. If it ain't there it can't be eaten! 3 x good meals, up the protein, lower the carbs, limit the sugar, lots of water. Good luck!

pyjamas89 · 08/11/2016 09:17

Welcome Annie

Not - I am finding weighing in once a week ideal for me, think I would become a scales obsessive otherwise. It prints you a receipt with the stats on so perfect for keeping track! Hope you make it to the gym :)

Glad to hear your lo is ok cora and sounds like you are on it! Hope you have a good week.

Need hope you are feeling better!

I know sesame it's early for a saturday which is why I have never made it before! Think it was worth it though...

Plumber came out yesterday and condemned my old boiler as not worth fixing - it's times like these I'm relieved not to be a home owner and thank the Lord my landlord is both decent and efficient. New boiler being installed right now! Grin

Off to do my food shopping now, hope I can stick to the list...

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 08/11/2016 13:40

Thanks for the welcome. I set up MFP last night and am going to use it for a week with no changes to my diet (which is awful). I want to know how many calories I am consuming in a day.

Meal planning is difficult as my DH cooks all of the evening meals (he gets home an hour earlier than me). But, from past experience, he just cooks what he wants with little regard for the calorie count. I am hoping that reduced calories for breakfast and lunch, smaller portions at dinner and a walk after dinner will offset DH's cooking.

Not2bObvious · 08/11/2016 16:00

You could just enter the last 3 days, if you can remember - I'm pretty sure you can go back days. I'm not criticising your plan, but you're setting yourself back a week - a week eating consciously could be a few pounds off your total, a week going as you were could be a pound or 2 on. Just my opinion, your choice.

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 08/11/2016 16:05

Annie Would you be able to control the portion size of your DH's meal, even if you can't control what the meal actually is? I'm new to all of this too, so I can't really give many hints and tips. We can learn together. MFP is really giving me focus though. I think acknowledging is the first step. My SIL has lost 2 stone using weight watchers, but she adjusted her goal weight gradually, to not overwhelm herself.

Thanks all, I'm much better today. You are all kind. I've walked the dogs briskly for 3 miles and used the Garmin to log the calories. I walk the dogs everyday usually AND run, but going to wait until Wednesday to run.

Pyjamas How quickly before you get the new boiler? Hate being cold and the temperature has dropped loads recently.

Thanks Bath for the advice/tips re logging restaurant meals. Luckily, we don't go out so much for it to be an issue. Smile

Today I had a small avocado and yohgurt for brekkie, and another edamame bean salad for lunch, so doing fine. Cooking a Jamie Olver sausage pasta dish for tea. That's a fantastic book (it's his new one) if anyone was thinking of getting it. Easy recipes and nutritional analysis for each one too, so you know what you are eating, including how many veg/fruit portions.

Scales said I was 8st today, but will say I'm 8st 1lb tomorrow, so I won't get excited. Smile

coragreta · 08/11/2016 19:27

Welcome Annie. I think it's good to see what you are eating and that can sometimes shock you and motivate you.
Doing well today. 1196. Pleased with that. Hope it all pays off on Friday.

Lolimax · 08/11/2016 21:06

Evening all! Welcome Annie. I hope everyone is keeping warm, I've noticed a downside of loosing weight is that I feel the cold a lot more.
Having a good diet week, helped by DH being afternoons. I'm treating myself to a cuppa and a Muller light in bed (I know how to live!) and ended the day on 1170 calories.

Sugarandsalt · 08/11/2016 21:37

No idea how many calories I've had as conference food wasn't easy to quantify. Too many no doubt. But 18000 steps so hopefully broke even overall. More conferencing tomorrow.

Welcome Annie! I'm exhausted (just in after 2 hours on train then had to walk 2.5miles from tube station as buses were diverted) so not going to say much but everyone sounds like they are doing great!

Not2bObvious · 08/11/2016 22:14

Just over 1300 cals here and a punishing gym class completed. I could not speak by the time I got home & feel pretty rough. Not helped by hideous foot cramps, so yeah not feeling the exercise endorphins right now😡 But it's over & another tick in the box. Not much else to say, night all

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 09/11/2016 06:23

Awake since 4.45 dammit. Not in that much pain after killer class. cora, loli, need super work on the food or calories. I like the sound of what you had need. I must look up that new Jamie book. I'm planning my food and so far it looks pretty ok calorie wise but I'm only working until 2 so the afternoons are danger time. Might give oneself a kick up the behind & clean the house, win win if I manage it. Keeping busy will keep my beak out of the fridge😁
11.7.4 today and 4 weeks 2 days to my Christmas party. Could this be the month I wave goodbye to the 11's??? Been here all fricking year😖

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 09/11/2016 07:48

Another 1 lb down, so that's 3 this week. Down to 11 10. Shock.

Not2bObvious · 09/11/2016 08:57

That's absolutely brilliant bath, well done👏
