7lbs in August anyone???

Rshard · 31/07/2016 16:48

Following on from June's and July's thread, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

Starting weight for August for me is 11.10.5. This is from my WW weigh in last Wednesday which is where I ended July. 7lbs would get me to 11,3.5 just in time for my holiday.

Good luck everyone!

I have had a good week, little bit of a treat today as I had a big bacon butty at a cafe but it was both my breakfast and lunch so I think it will be fine.

We made a cake last weekend and because I haven't been eating any of it there was about half left which had to go in the bin, it was tough but it has been a boost to be able to resist temptation and realise that urges pass and going without cake isn't the end of the world!!

If I can lose a pound then I will be at one stone weight loss in just over a month. I expect the next stone to take longer but my holiday is in 5 weeks so would like to be well on my way to it by then.

Squiffy01 · 13/08/2016 15:16

Pony and bellend thank you for the kind words! It is just so hard life at the moment is quite difficult.
Surprisingly 1.5 lb off this week. I'm hoping for a good week this next week as I've had a change in plans and now going to join my partner with his parents rather than him coming home so that might throw any attempt at being healthy out the window but we shall see.
Going to a friends for dinner tonight but no plans tomorrow or the rest of the week with food out so really hoping a can lose a bit more before I go away.
Think I might try and log on each evening and tell you all what I have eaten that may help me keep on track knowing I have to report in.

Questi0ns · 13/08/2016 20:13

Hi all... Looking for some motivation. Started the month at 75.5 kgs (where I'd been for a while) dropped down every early in the month to 74.5 kgs and not dropped anything since.

In this period I've started the c25k and been doing it every other day. Eating low carb high fat and logging in mfp. Just feel disheartened. Really wanted to get to the 72 by the end of the month but it looks unlikely.

I fear I may be need to cut out the fruit I'm eating which strictly should be in my low carb diet, but really can't bring myself to. Sigh.

This is quite the slog.

ponygirlcurtis · 13/08/2016 23:33

Sorry to hear life is difficult at the moment Squiffy. Coming on here to track your food might help, I have found coming on here to helped me not overindulge on a few occasions.

Questi0ns that's fantastic if you have started doing C25k and kept it up! It's not easy. When you've been logging it all on MFP have you still been under your intended calorie goal?

Squiffy01 · 14/08/2016 10:32

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
I'm doing well so far today but it is only 10:30 so that isn't really anything special haha.

I know it is the complete opposite to what we are here for but thought I would ask you lovely people for some very high calorie meals and snacks. My soon to be MIL isn't well and she is really struggling to eat the volume of food she needs so partner and I are trying to think of things we can stock the freezer with .
She isn't a huge fan of sweet things so that rules out high fat milk shakes, cakes and icecreams etc. She isn't a fan of nuts anymore as they get stuck in her teeth and she isn't allowed to floss anymore. Any suggestion would be great. Ideally hugely calorie dense snacks that she only has to eat small amounts and will still feel like a main meal.

ponygirlcurtis · 14/08/2016 13:20

What about toast with lots of butter, or even smooth peanut butter? Or protein powder, can be mixed in with lots of things I think. Avocados mashed up with boiled egg or roast chicken with skin on, roast potatoes cooked in fat? What sorts of meals does she like? Could they be made more calorific, eg by adding more butter, cheese, etc?

Lucked · 14/08/2016 20:40

Does she need a dietician to help? Perhaps chat to the GP

It can help adding in more meals if they can only manage small amounts so elevenses and supper.

Making food with full cream or adding some to soups, mash potatoes etc
Potatoes can also be blended into soups.
Eggs including eggs mayonnaise
Advocados
Cheese
Lashings of butter
Starchy carbs -potatoes, pasta and noodles

Savoury biscuits with dips for snacks.

Squiffy01 · 14/08/2016 20:57

Thanks pony and lucked will pass those lists along. I'm not sure they will bother with a dietician to be honest but I will suggest it they have got so much else to deal with I'm not sure it will be high on the priority list although maybe it should be she is down to 85lbs and she needs to try and get some on I think to manage treatment.

Today wasn't perfect for me but a lot better than I have been doing.
Breakfast - low fat yoghurt and two crumpets
Lunch - weight watchers frozen meal. Not the healthiest choice but it was there and needed eating.
Mini twister
Dinner - rice cakes and sweet chilli Philadelphia
Snacks - chocolate Sad hence the rice cakes for dinner. Aye slightly more than I should but progress it didn't send me onto the crisps and icecream.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 15/08/2016 08:20

Well, no weight loss this week Sad. I am so fed up with being "good" and yet not losing any weight. I've lost over 2 stone since January but now my body send to be telling me that it likes the weight it's at and refusing to go lower. But I need to lose another stone.

I havent had any alcohol this week. Usually I have a couple of glasses of wine on a Friday evening which is much needed! And sometimes another couple on a Saturday evening if we're staying in (if we're going out I tend to drive). But despite staying in this weekend, I just drank water. It's not just the empty calories in wine, it's the fact that after a couple of glass I tend to nibble even though I'm not hungry. As I'm trying to do LCHF then the nibbles tend to be cheese, olives, nuts etc.

Let's see if it makes a difference this week. I

Rshard · 15/08/2016 09:27

used do you need to change something? I do this every now and then when my metabolism needs a little shove.

Afternoon all. I haven't been on here since last week, but knowing you're all here has helped with motivation. And knowing I have to weigh myself on a Monday morning helps too - there's a bag of chocolate raisins in the cupboard and I've nearly opened them several times, then stopped myself, because I really really want that happy feeling inspired by a lower number than last week. And it worked! 275.6lbs today. Less than ten ounces to go and I'll have hit 7lbs this month!

ponygirlcurtis · 15/08/2016 16:07

That's fantastic MsH! Very chuffed for you.

Usedtobe that's really frustrating. I have found what I eat (or don't) doesn't always impact my weight immediately. Hence I can have a great week with no difference and sometimes a terrible week with the same result! It's a long game sometimes. I agree, try changing things a little.

I am another 1.25lb down this week (so 2lb in total) - it would have 2.25lb for this week if I went by yesterday's weight. But my period started this morning and it always stalls things. Like I said, it's a long looooooooong game, and I am a slow loser at the best of times. I am fine with that. no choice!

Joolly2 · 15/08/2016 16:47

Hi everyone.
My weigh in day was yesterday and I am down 1lb, so I am really pleased. Looking at some of the posts there have been some really good results.
USED -in the past I've had weeks like you, it seems so unfair and can be very demoralising. Hang in there. I think Rshard has a good point about making a change somewhere be it exercise or diet. You have come such a long way so you must have amazing willpower, you can do it.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 15/08/2016 17:50

Thanks for the responses Rshard et al. I was wondering about trying to do a couple of higher carb days in the hope that when I switch back to low carb it will have more effect. It might all backfire though!

In terms of exercise, I do a mixture of cardio and weights. I try to do 2 hours per night (I work full time so cant do anything during the day). I usually have Saturdays off, and only do one class on a Friday and Sunday. Otherwise it's 2 classes per evening. I'm a bit reluctant to drop those down as they seem to be having a small effect on my body shape.

Rshard · 15/08/2016 19:32

Well done on the awesome losses!

used one thing I did when I got to goal before and I'm convinced it was this change that did it, was start having a slightly bigger breakfast. Eggs in my case, it just seemed to shift something somehow. I was stuck in a rut and the eggs dragged me out of it!

I was 142 on Friday morning... Now 148?! These things can happen can't they? Confused

Joolly2 · 15/08/2016 21:42

USED - bloody hell, 2 hours of exercise every night after a full days work, I nearly fainted when I read that. Deep admiration for that.

Lucked · 15/08/2016 21:53

Congratulations msH

Used wow! Do you think you are gaining muscle? Perhaps you should go on measurements rather than weight.

I am only down 1lb, that's 3lbs since the start of the month but I have now reached 1st weight loss which I am chuffed about.

Fast day went okay and kitchen closed.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 16/08/2016 07:08

Thank you Joolly2 but it's not that impressive. My kids are older - I certainly didn't do that amount when they were younger - and I have a very sedentary job which I drive to, so I don't do any exercise during the day.

It's been my aim this year to lose weight and get fitter, and I really want to end the year at my goal weight. I turn 50 later this year which has been the motivation for me. Everyone keeps telling me it's much harder to lose weight once you're 50. Although I think it's not so much age as menopause that makes the difference, and there's no sign of that yet.

Helloheyhi · 16/08/2016 09:30

Popping in to say a quick hello and well done to everyone who have lost weight Flowers
I haven't been well, with a bad cold, so have been focusing on regaining my strength and stamina. I haven't weighed myself. I will do once I have recovered.

Have a good day y'all.

MsHeffalump · 16/08/2016 10:45

I'm trying to get fitter too. Managed twenty arbitrary units (probably km) on my exercise bike each day for the past three days. I'd forgotten how satisfying it is afterwards. Had homemade crumble and some chocolate biscuits yesterday, but am declaring it the week's official treat day and I've got until next Monday to work it off, so it's all good.

Joolly2 · 16/08/2016 18:30

I am really fed up. After reading how much exercise USED does I lay in bed last night planning ways to up my game. This morning I tripped over the dog and landed really awkwardly. My foot is turning a nice shade of blue and is really hurting. I'm hoping it is just a sprain, I've been been advised to elevate it, take pain killers and re-assess it in the morning. So for the time being I won't even be able to walk the dog. Aaaaah. I am now consoling myself with a glass of wine.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 17/08/2016 06:34

Oh Joolly2 that sounds very painful. You need to rest it and keep it elevated. I hope you make a swift recovery.

I'm out with friends tonight so am not going to the gym at all if it makes you feel better!

Bellenddingdong · 17/08/2016 07:32

Morning. I have had a few impromptu days away so I haven't been able to post. I will sit down later and catch up with you lovely lot.

The scales were slightly down on Monday morning which I was so please because I am struggling with my mindset. My brain is in holiday mode. I have just quickly jumped on this morning and slightly up again but I am going to have a 500 calorie day today and see if I can jump start things.

I am not on target for half a stone by the end of he month but as long as a finish the month lighter than what I started, I will be happy.

Happy Wednesday everybody.

ponygirlcurtis · 17/08/2016 08:28

Ow Joolly, that sounds really sore. Hope it's feeling better today.

There's no way I will lose a half some either Bell but I knew that from the start. Like you, as long as the scales are down then it's all in the right direction.

Have a good day everyone.
