New Thread!!! Grin

Newbies welcome, we're all just trying to lose weight/inches our own way, with lots of mutual support.

Hi all. It sounds like lots of us are struggling at the moment. I do think that Easter threw us off track, I know it did for me. Being out of routine is all it takes sometimes.

I'm nearly back to pre-Easter weight. Just got that one lb that keeps going on-off, on-off but usually when I plateau I suddenly drop a couple of lbs at once so fingers crossed. I think it's five weeks until routines get rocked again by half term but that's plenty of time to shift a few more pesky pounds Smile

GettinTrimmer · 23/04/2016 13:51

It's up and down with this stuff, but hey we are still here Smile

I am pleased to say that at least I am eating less moving more. Planning on starting another push on Monday with the food. I was going to do Park Run again this morning, but friend didn't feel up to it so we just did a short jog round the park. Planning on doing a 3 miler tomorrow, but as it's Saturday and everyone around, avoiding the DVDs!

I can sympathise with stress induced munchies - my work has changes looming on the horizon and we don't know what will happen. Without doing a full run I had a hot chocolate and eggs benedict for breakfast! Mega calories.

Have a good day everyone Smile

MABS · 23/04/2016 13:54

no exercise for me either :(

sofato5miles · 23/04/2016 14:00

Can I join?

I have lost 5kgs so far but still have 10 to go.

Could someone post the explanation for WTG? Then I can update in lbs?

Fairenuff · 23/04/2016 14:41

Welcome sofa WTG stands for Weight to Go until you reach target.

Fairenuff · 23/04/2016 14:41

Ooops, posted too soon. Well done on the 5kgs Smile

sofato5miles · 23/04/2016 17:22

Doh!

slimjimmyjammy · 24/04/2016 11:39

Hello, can I join you? I've name changed to focus on who I aim to be on here - a real slimjim Smile

I am in my mid 50's with menopausal dumpiness. I am 10stone 13 and 5ft 3 (or maybe only 5ft 3) so my BMI is overweight. To get within a 'normal' BMI I need to loose at least 6lbs (if I'm 5ft4) and 12lbs (if I'm 5ft3), but more importantly than that I feel tubby and sluggish and I want to feel more energetic and lighter. Also I am going to a family wedding in July, everyone else in my family is slender and tall and I know that I'll hate the photos of my fat tummy and my double chins, so I'm hoping that 3 months will give me time to loose a few pounds and feel a bit better about how I look.

I don't usually weigh myself - more judge by my clothes whether I'm putting on a few pounds - but I look out the scales this morning. So that's a start.

I eat pretty healthily, I love veg, don't eat too much meat, don't have a particularly sweet tooth, and I can low carb relatively easily. I'm a foodie so eating out is a bit of a weakness, but my biggest difficulty is that I really hate exercise, as in detest getting out of breath or sweaty, and I know that a bit of moderate exercise would make a massive difference.

Anyway, now I've introduced myself I'm back off to read the rest of the thread.

slimjimmyjammy · 24/04/2016 12:00

Hi again,

OK, so if I understand this right, I copy the last list and add my name to the end of it.... is that correct? If so, the last one I found was from 2 weeks ago.

My ideal weight would be 9 stone 7 (it's where my clothes fit most comfortably and where I feel a bit less sluggish) so that is 20lbs to loose. Shock that sounds a lot! I plan to weigh myself and update on a Monday (but not tomorrow obviously).

Welcome to SlimJim and sofa.

I know what your mean Slimjim it's so much more difficult to lose weight these days - I'm pushing 50 - and I am not good at following diets, so I am doing as much strength exercise and aerobic exercise as I can. I have stopped weighing for now as it's so disheartening, just measuring.

Anyway - I thought my waist looked a bit trimmer, I measured it earlier on, and lost another 1/4 inch. My day off today, I am off out for lunch with dh later - no chips!!

Keep going everyone.

MABS · 27/04/2016 07:03

BernieBear · 27/04/2016 14:45

Hello, may I join? I have been dieting (on/off) for two years! I was 14 stone at my heaviest and lost 2 stone over a year, but have now gained a stone back. But I am back on it. I have tried SW and WW but am now just using MyFitnessPal and calorie counting and exercise (how retro!). I weighed in at 13 stone, and lost 2lbs in my first week, and sts last week.

Would be great to join you all and get some motivation. I feel like it's been a long slog but my best friend is getting married this year (we're 45 !) and I refuse to be the fat friend at my friend's wedding. Oh the photos! I have to lose 1.5lbs a week to achieve my target of 11 stone. I will add my stats to the list if that's ok??

Welcome Bernie. Well done on losing 2 stone, you can do it again. All it takes is dedication Grin

I hate it when it creeps back on again, it's a bugger isn't it. But we'll get there any which way, as long as we keep focussed Smile

Mabs fantastic loss, I bet that has spurred you on. Well done.

MABS · 27/04/2016 17:10

Gee fanks Fairenuf Smile

slimjimmyjammy · 27/04/2016 17:12

Well I feel like I've managed to eat quite well so far this week. I find that eating a healthy breakfast is a really good start to the day - like I'm making a definite commitment to treat myself well. If I start the day with loads of toast and peanut butter or a chocolate brioche, then I seem to follow that high carb pattern for the rest of the day.Tomorrow night is a big meal out for my dh's birthday, but the portions will be small (though rich and delicious) and I'll not drink too much so that should balance things out.

BernieBear · 28/04/2016 06:46

Thank you fairennuf, it is annoying. I've also broken my little toe so running is out at the mo. Am trying Powerwave tonight (sounds like something the Royals do!)

Made courgetti last night ..... That was an interesting experience! Good luck today x

firesafety · 28/04/2016 20:39

Lost.the.plot and my mojo.

GettinTrimmer · 02/05/2016 20:57

firesafety I know what you mean, my diet mojo needs dusting off but my exercise mojo is alive and kicking! Hope everyone is OK, been quiet on here lately.

Fairenuff · 04/05/2016 08:23

Right, let's get back on it. The sun is shining and whilst it's wonderful to have some warmth at last, it is a reminder that summer is fast approaching! We have a few weeks to to commit to getting a few more pounds off.

Who's in?

I'm going to go out for a walk every day just to enjoy the sunshine and get in the habit of regular exercise. I went out yesterday after work and it was lovely to be up close to nature, hear the birds singing and see the flowers in all their glorious colours. I feel like the world is waking up after a long winter and I'm fed up of being inside and feeling sluggish. I want to be out there for at least a blissful half hour to myself just enjoying the life around me Smile

Ok, that's my attempt to motivate us, what's everyone else up to? Grin

Fairenuff · 04/05/2016 19:38

Just me then?

Come on, where's all that determination we had at the beginning of the year?

We are worth it!

firesafety · 04/05/2016 20:18

I'm back! And the motivation is most welcome. Grin

Switch flicked last Friday when I went for a short swim (compromised the time to enable a much-needed nip to the spa). Managed a walk on Saturday and Sunday, plus two walks each weekday so far. Swam yesterday and first gym visit for three weeks today. Phew.

Reasonably sensible foodwise too - went to a party on Sunday , but I drove so no alcohol.

Weigh-in at the gym on Friday, and I'm not expecting any loss - may even have put a bit back on but I've had two parties (one very boozy), a girly weekend with a mini meltdown either side but at least I'm not planning on cancelling the appt any more though, lol.

Fairenuff · 04/05/2016 20:33

Yay, a chum! I was feeling a bit like billy no mates there Grin

I went for my walk again this evening. Might take a camera tomorrow and take a few piccies. Everything is out; blossom, flowers, gorgeous leafy things --> not a gardener...

Well done on all the exercising fire, even if you don't lose this week you will be getting fitter, stronger and more flexible. It will all pay off, you'll see.

GettinTrimmer · 04/05/2016 21:08

I'm still here as well Fairenuff.
