Hi everybody Smile

I seem to be doing well with exercise, but came home from work and had leftover macaroni cheese and pesto pasta (very small portions, but none the less Blush then my lunch of oatcakes, small portion of nuts, piece of cheese and salad of spinach leaves and spring onion.

Gorgeous day here. Slimcheesy climbing back on the wagon here also.

I'm off to yoga this evening. Feel so chilled after it. How are you all doing?

Hi Piste welcome back Smile

There is a massive amount of Chocolate in the house. I just succumbed. Just a little bit.... relatives were generous with Easter eggs!

Is anybody weighing in tomorrow? Jelli I just measured, 1/2 inch off waist and tummy, possibly pummeled in by planks etc.

Report
RatherBeOnThePiste · 31/03/2016 18:47

Because we were away we didn't go mad on the chocolate, did do the traditional Easter egg hunt for them, we had a huge room/suite thing with two balconies, no idea why so big, so that was fun and I did get them an egg, but I got away with not too much, phew!

Gym today, according to the machines I used up 450 cals. Felt more like 450,00000000000000, am knacky knacky knackered.

I know I haven't weighed in again yet, was kinda trying to get things more under control, but I am back on course, soon, promise!

Lost 2lb!
May be more to do with the dreaded return of AF, after a year and a half but I'm happy anyway. I feel like I'm back on track with my fitness pal really helping motivate me.
Depressing week trying to find clothes for going back to work in 6 weeks after maty leave. I'm still 2 stone up though I've lost a stone. Feel like none of my old clothes will ever fit again and everything I try on looks awful. I think I just need to rethink the sort of things I wear maybe.
Anyway, welcome back Pistey. Good luck to all the Friday weighers!

I like MFP too, do you get the little nagging reminders - don't forget to log your dinner type ones?!

Works for me Grin

Well done on the 2lbs, and wait a bit for work clothes? Still 6 more weeks?

You going back to work isn't the end of this journey, just a step. I went back after my daughter after 8 months and had to buy clothes for initially, but didn't buy loads, and yes to different things maybe?

Heyho, tis Friday, good luck weighers :)

Well done GBBO. Sounds like an exhausting night Error hope it was better last night. Only dd here last night as ds went for sleepover - unusually quiet Confused

I joined a gym this week, it's a chain of Sports Direct gyms and it was just as well to join as yoga was £5 per week, and it is £24.99 per month for classes, gym and swimming. I'm off to Thighs, Bums and Tums in a bit.

Decided not to weigh in this week. Fluffy hasn't been here for a while - hope you OK Fluff if you are out there - but I have decided to also weigh in at end of month - will review after this month, and really put in effort. I think the scales may demotivate me at the moment. Will see.

Hi Everyone,

STS (weight and cms) this week for me, which is a relief as I have been a little off the wagon exercise wise, the opposite ti Trimmer. However my new leaf is turned and I am started Extreme shed and Shred today so will give that a whirl for a couple of weeks. I have had it for a while but havent taken the wrapper off until today.

We are thinking of Malta for a holiday this year Pistey. We went last year and learned to dive, so we may go back in July with DS as it worked well with the kids last year.

Trimmer excellent news on the tape measure, well done! No movement for me really this week but i didnt deserve it either so thats ok.

I also like mfp as it feels like my choices are accountable.....

GBBO fab news - 2lbs!!! I wish Grin

Hello - can I be a late addition to the thread? jelli invited me since nobody wants to join the thread I started sob
I have a party to go to in 12 weeks ( my brother's 40 th) that demands a dress, and I would like to be 12lb lighter by then. I went to watch my brother and niece do the park run this weekend. I am a serial C25Ker but have never managed to sustain the effort and run regularly, so my aim is to get to park run completing standard and to also lose a lb a week by eating better for the next 3 months.
Will you help to keep me motivated?

Milo welcome, nice to have someone else to join us and keep the thread going, I find it a great source of support Smile 12lb in 12 weeks sound doable to me. How are you planning to do yours?

I am joining the Park Run, I think I may be able to run for 3 miles, but slow paced. Also signed up for race for life.

Jelli I've got Extreme Shed and Shred too, will be interesting to see how you get on. As you know, I am a DVD flirt, can't seem to commit to 30 days of Jillian. Did Davina this morning after an abandoned run - had to come home for the loo - (sorry if tmi!) It was a 20 minute thing and I did full burpees.

Piste* will add to good news on the scales I'm sure!

Hello trimmer I am hoping that just ditching the crap will be enough to shift a pound a week. I'm quite active anyway ( have a dog, can notch up 15000 steps without thinking about it) and found I can eat about 1500 cals a day on MFP and gradually lose weight. I need to stop eating biscuits, cake, Easter chocolate and Magnums! My main meals are already quite healthy. We eat early in the evening with our children, my downfall is snacking later on. If I start running again once they are in bed maybe I'll be reluctant to undo my hard work when I get home. Park run had a really nice atmosphere, I thought. There were as many cheers (more) for the lady who slogged round and was still going at nearly 10 o'clock as for the first past the tape after 20 minutes, and several of the people who'd finished and had their bacon butties went back to keep her company. That'll be me! I have done Race for Life before, might see if any colleagues fancy that one....

Hello, can I join in?

Having been considerably overweight for most of my life I've lost a fair bit over time but have nearly a stone to go until I hit a healthy bmi, and it's just not shiftingat the moment.

Exercise ok - walking and swimming, plus the odd lightweight gym visit - always room for improvement, but regular.

Food - getting better. Need to eat more protein and dump the junk.

So basically a work in progress.

Report
GettinTrimmer · 04/04/2016 11:00

Welcome firesafety sounds like you are doing well on the exercise. I tend to avoid swimming as my technique isn't very good and I don't put my face in the water. My new gym does swimming lessons - I may look into that. Completely agree about upping the protein.

That sounds like a lovely parkrun Milo, it may be me as the lady who comes last, but I'm up for it. If you are anywhere near me, join us for Race for Life if you want. I'm in Hampshire. I completely understand about evening snacking.

I am having a lovely lazy Monday as day off work!! Planning on going to see that Eddie the Eagle film with the dc. Just about to have a bath in a bit.

Nice to chill before work on Wednesday as I seem to have an unintentional run in with a line manager - she thought I didn't take being told to do something very well - very brief exchange of about a minute - when actually I was just a little puzzled as had conflicting information & wanted to clarify, she seemed to just talk over me. Had a 2 paragraph e-mail from her going on about it, and saying she was going to raise my response with someone 'you didn't take it very well.' I sent a friendly, and I hope diffusing reply back. But what an effing fuss over nothing, I think she just felt I dissed her authority, which I really didn't mean to do.

Also neighbour had some plumes of smoke from dh's bonfire and was very angry, said council will fine us £1200 (not true). Apologised profusely, but he still went on and on so I said he'd made his point and please leave our property. No more bonfires for dh!

Anyway, all little things Smile have a good day all.

Hi there,
Can I join? Long been a lurker but I would like to join in a support thread. My story... Went to weight watchers and slimming world in the past with good success. But went off the rails over the last year and ended up with a good 12lb to lose to reach a healthy BMI. I'm quite short and broad so I cant get away with it. A fundamental dislike for Muller light and other fake foods has me avoiding meetings this time but I am loosely basing my efforts on the slimming world programme and Ruth Field's 'Cut the Crap book'. So the core of it is more fruit and vegetables, more exercise, cut out 80% of the crap. My demons are crusty bread, pastry, creamy sauces and chocolate, biscuits, and crisps. I started 8 weeks ago and expected a slow but hopefully steady weight loss. I have been doing well in not eating chocolate bars and crisps. The first couple of weeks I was in serious withdrawal but I am much better now. I have been gradually increasing the vegetables and have all but cut out white bread and cakes, pastries etc. A few biscuits have sneaked in and easter cost me a lb but so far I am down 6.5lbs. Finally the improved weather and longer evenings mean I can get out for a walk or cycle in the evenings and I really enjoy that (I don't like the gym and couldn't run to save my life) and I feel more trim.
I have 7lb to go to my target. Would love to reach this by mid may but I really want to make a long term healthy eating and exercise commitment so not too worried if it takes a little longer.
So thats about it so far! I usually weigh in wednesday but can make it friday if thats what y'all do here?

Milo I'm glad you found us! And Theythink and firesafety welcome!

(I am a sneaky daily weigher and i was down a pound somehow this morning (hurrah!!!) despite DS's delicious homemade pizza and some Ben and jerry's on Saturday - but I cant declare it as its not an 'official' weigh in day.... Perhpas it was Jillians new routine that did it?)

Milo I was a non-runner for years too despite DH being and ardent exerciser since forever. I completed C25K a few years ago and then pushed on to 10K and ran regularly over 5-10K, less during the week as timed allowed and then a longer run on a Sunday morning with DH. We lived in the coutry then so had fab runs to choose from, although DH did usually manage to get me out and up the hills. I didnt much like the actual running but loved it once it was done and i could wallow in, what was it Pistey? the 'Post Run Smug Zone' or something similar? However, we live in the suburbs now and i hate running here, DH is never about to run with and entertain me with his chatting (I just grunted at the right times) so I am staying with the DVDs till I have more time and DH is more available to run with me and we will move so should have more open spaces to run in. The idea of Park runs would be fun (me, competitive? never!) but i work on Saturdays.

Trimmer i think i like this new routine, its quite hard the sunsalutaions have got me sweating both days, and i can feel ive been exercising today, i am a tiny bit creaky, and i like it Grin. I think i intend (is that vague enough?) to do a couple of days of level 2 on its own and see how that is, then i will will probably do two days of level one, two days of level two, sunday and monday are my days off so i intend to do levels 1&2 on those days, and then have one day of rest (when i can get up late...). What did you think of ES&S?
I am sorry you have hassle at work. I hate it when that happens, i walk on eggshells at work a lot of the time (counting days until i leave....) Hope your email resolves it all.

Firesafety sounds like you have done fantastically well already Grin. swimming is great exercise, shame i dont like it much, i always think swimmers have great body shapes when you see them on the TV. Sounds like you 'just' need to keep going..

Error dont be downhearted, i think once youve shifted it once, it comes of the next time pretty easily - youll be fine

Theythink i too am short and i think a small gain really shows, or it feels like it does, it probably doesnt. I believe the key to a good diet (long term eating plan) is cutting the processed stuff. I have said for a little while now, that you can eat everything IF cooked from basic ingreients, as the hassle of mixing biscuits and baking them is too much to bother with when you just want a cuppa but when they are in the packet in the cupboard just lounging around a waving at me, its far too easy so eat half a packet. I also believe water is key but i am dreadful, really dreadful at drinking it. Why is that so hard? Drinking water? I dont even dislike it Confused. Just to touch back on the C25K - i know you said you couldnt run to save your life? well neither could I but as i said up there somewhere I used to run 5-6 miles regularly, just from following C25K and the support on here, i really is achievable if you feel like you like to try but its what those other people do. I remember I dropped of my car at the garage to be serviced on Friday night. as i ran home it started to snow, there was little traffic and as i said it was rural so was beautifully quiet, and one of the odd things where the light was odd because it was after dark but snowing. It was a magical, memorable run home as i was dressed for it. I loved that run and am so glad i could do it (and the garage man was amzed i ran home after dropping the car of Grinsmug!

On this thread we have these stats which we copy, update and paste into a new entry as necessary. Feel free to add yourselves. Thanks for the welcome.

Day 1 of my new phase...a mixed bag.

Swam 40 mins in an almost empty pool (swimming breast stroke is a doddle for me although I'm not fast - but a bit monotonous - need to work on my front crawl) plus four plus miles walking in two bursts.

Food - not so well balanced - I made cheesecake-filled Easter eggs for dessert, as I'd got all the dc together for a meal for the first time since Christmas, and one is only home for 48 hours (uni). The rest of the food intake and the exercise hopefully counteracts that!

I'm going to the gym tomorrow, but I'm out for a meal tomorrow night, but I'm only going to have one course... There I've put it here, so hopefully I'll stick to that plan.

You can see where my problem lies can't you?
