Thanks for the welcomes.

Milo I love the way you do your menus :)

Jelli, you are right processed food is not good. I try not to use a lot of it. I make most of our meals from scratch if I can. I especially prefer to make my own sauces etc. And I am a big baker. No one would dare bring a shop bought cake here!!! But in reality, with busy schedules and fussy kids a can of baked beans or fishfingers is so handy. And DS is vegetarian so quorn and stuff like that is a regular. I do find myself reading food labels and making better choices though. i.e. fewest ingredients and least sugar and fat!
What is C25K? and what yoga programme are you using? My DH runs regularly. He doesn't enjoy it but enjoys the feeling after like you say. I really admire this. I couldn't make myself do that! I have so little free time that I just want to do something I enjoy so I would rather go for a nice walk or cycle or take a zumba class. But maybe as my fitness levels rise I might enjoy the challenge.

Firesafety - well done on all the exercise... I love the sound of your cheesecake filled eggs... yumm. The way I see it, you have to have room for treats and a little break out in any long term weight-loss, healthy lifestyle - otherwise you just wont stick to it. So enjoy a dessert now and then and just get in a little extra exercise if you need to. As my old WW leader used to say - its not the odd cream bun that has us overweight.....

Will weigh in tomorrow and report back!

Hi all, I'm back with you after an indulgent Easter Blush

No weight loss to report (obvs) but will check back and see how everyone else has been getting on. I was worried I'd lost you all under a mountain of chocolate when you dropped off my TIO list Grin

Mornin' all Smile

Fairenuff nice to see you back. Well done for weighing in, I wasn't going to brave the scales until the end of the month, but will do mine on Friday.

milo/firesafety one of you asked about what day we weigh in - no set day, you choose.

theythinkImworking Welcome Smile my ds is also veggie, I eat fish so almost veggie! We also do quorn, making bolognese sauce this evening, I do half meat and half quorn. I'm with you as well on processed food, I go on pinterest to find veggie recipes that have a few ingredients and are relatively quick to make.

I have been walking for a little while on our treadmill, then went for a run, nearly 2 miles, and when the dc are distracted will do some planks etc. Just taking the dc for a walk in the woods. Back to work tomorrow.

Theythink C25K is an abbreviation for Couch to 5Km. There are many programs to be googled or downloaded on an app but I used the free BUPA one when i learned to run. They quite literally take you from the couch to being able to run 5Km which is 3 miles over a period of 8-9 weeks. It took me no longer than 30 mins to do each time so is not too time hungry. I have just started doing Jillian Michaels' (of 30 Day Shred fame) Extreme Shed and Shred which is what I was talking about, it is not a yoga programme she just has a mix of 'moves' and that one just makes me sweat, its all very odd as i don't physically move that much, or that quickly, when i am doing it but it must be hard!

firesafety a thought for you.... if you find breast stroke a doddle, have you tried mixing some sprint lengths into your swim. I think it will be similar to any other exercise, if you dont move the goalposts the body gets fit enough to meet the exercise challenge but then plateaus and not further progress is made. By making it more challenging by throwing in some sprints youll be making more demands on your body and it will need to change to meet the new demand. (its how the C25K thing works for running). anyway just a thought Grin.

No other news from me as i was too lazy to get out of bed this morning to exercise, and i kept in my myfitnesspal limits so half good half wicked Shock

Thanks for the tip Trimmer. I like eating veggie but DS is the worst vegetarian ever as he eats feck all veggies!! I was like that as a kid though and now I love them, so I will persist.
Jelli thanks for info. Have a 5k loop road around the house that I like to walk so maybe will build up to the C25K
Weigh in for me.. I haven't really recorded my weight loss properly over the last couple of weeks but in my skivvies, before breakfast I could justifiably claim to be 1lb down.
I ate a bag of peanut M&Ms last night.... I have the shame!!! But it has confirmed a horrifying suspicion that has been dawning on me since Easter..... Chocolate makes me feel sick. I hadn't been eating it in any great quantities for weeks and then at Easter I ate several of those gorgeous chunky honeycomb Lily O'Brien chocolate hearts and even after just one, I instantly felt queasy. I realise now that I have been feeling physically much better since I have been cutting the crap out of my diet. I think chocolate doesn't agree with me :( This is a double edge sword... the nauseous feelings will deter me from pigging out ... But oh .... I do LOVE chocolate.
Weather terrible here at the moment so can't get out and bogged down in work and other activities so no time for proper exercise for a few days. Will have to be extra good with food this week.

Report
firesafety · 06/04/2016 22:30

theythink. It's the quantity.... Blush. Funny though, I feel queasy if I eat too much sweet stuff these days, but I still eat it. Hmm

jellibelli yy to sprints - did a bit of that last night. I'm working on the front crawl though, just to mix it up, and some backstroke - although too tired for that last night, the bigger problem is usually having the space to do the stroke without bashing someone.

I didn't go to the gym yesterday, but I did today. Instead I walked twice and swam, after my one course. Back at work today, and fairly sensible foodwise.

We've been out and about every day this week as my boys are off school, but today it is wet and miserable and they want to bake. Must avoid eating all the cake!

Well done queen and other 'losers' Grin

I am impressed at all the fitness going on too.

I've just bunged a load of veg into my soup maker for lunch - broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, green beans, mangetout and those tiny corn on the cob thingies. I think that will cover my 'five a day' today.

Good luck with the baking Milo.

Sorry theythink. I meant me and the cheesecake Easter egg...

Swam this morning -40 mins - busy pool and achey body after gym visit, so straightforward breast stroke. 4miles walked tonight.

Food okish.

Lost 3.7lb!!!!!

Had a hectic week so haven't been keeping up with thread- will hopefully get a chance later today to get caught up. Welcome and good luck to all newcomers.

Here's a funny thing- I've been stuck at the same weight or slightly creeping up for the past month or two, then over the last two weeks have lost more than 5 lbs, without being particularly good. My clothes feel looser and people have commented that I look like I've lost weight. About 10 days ago my period came back after a long break (I'm breastfeeding my almost 9 mth old), could it be somehow connected?? Anyway, let's hope it continues, still quite a way to go!

Error404usernamenotfound · 08/04/2016 09:23

Morning losers! Grin Special congrats to GBBO; it's fab when a plateau finally shifts, isn't it? Perhaps your body was holding onto a lot of bloat while it prepared to restart your periods...? Anyway, I wouldn't question it too much!

I've lost 0.8lb, but that's after putting on 2lb last week, so I'm still 'in debt;' as it were. Drank a little too much wine this week, so need to cut back on that.

Did anyone else watch How to Stay Young last night? It was very interesting, and had a lot about general health and fitness. Apparently a study was done in Germany where they got one group of people to go to the gym and another group to do a dance class, both to the same music (to ensure similar exertion levels), and the dance group were much healthier at the end! Not just weight loss (not sure if there was much difference there) but general health and fitness levels.

I'm terrible at keeping to classes (I always feel as though I HAVE to go, which somehow takes some of the enjoyment out, so will find excuses not to - a little rebellious!), but I do need to do exercise beyond just walking, so maybe I'll look into that.

Theythink, if you scroll down, you'll see the smileys and how to do them. Use square brackets around the relevant word (no spaces).

Morning, weighed in after a long time, and sadly am more or less back to where I began Sad

Rubbish at this, but feel fully back on track now with the gym etc. Sadly had to take MFP off my phone as the storage is so rubbish. Need to work out how to get it back on again because that did really work.

Heard some very sad news this morn, no specifics but connected to someone we have already made a Woolly Hug for. It is devastating actually, and it shows how much we must embrace life and love because you just never know. Think taking more care of ourselves here is a very good part of that. Hug the ones you love. x

Hi everyone, Pistey so sorry to hear that Sad I will check out Woolly Hugs I can do basic knitting but nothing fancy. I know what you mean by ending up where started, I've not had a good fortnight. Didn't weigh in this morning.

Error&GB very well done both of you on losses.

I did see the programme Error, tried to do that sitting down and sitting up cross legged. Really difficult!

food gone to pot, had take away last night. Exercise not too bad doing parkrun tomorrow morning went to yoga & keeping Shred going. I am keeping on, not giving in. Back to it, I always find school holidays very challenging.

I am proud to say I did my parkrun this morning...and I wasn't last Smile I feel incentivised to crack on with health diet so I can lose the weight then I will be higher up in the results. Not so good on the food, marmite on toast then afterwards a Wetherspoons quorn sausage bap, very carby so far.

Milo well done on your 2lb, and great willpower with just a sliver.

Well done get in and milo.

So I walked and did a rather poor 30 mins in the gym on Friday - was shattered tbh, and need to eat, lol.

Yesterday we did a fair bit of strolling around on a day trip. I took gloop (smoothie), salad etc etc to eat on the train/for lunch, but then we stuffed our face at tea time. I also found some delightful home-made marshmallow. Oops. Was gorgeous though.

So, I think I'd lost a pound but put it back on yesterday....

Hi everyone, can I join in? I started back on it last week properly having lost around half a stone up until then. I've not done a full week yet, but had designated monday as my weigh day and have lost 1lb. I'm not massively impressed with that, but it's better than the gain I usually have on the weekend!

I'm looking to lose around 20lbs and have so far lost 1lb of that! Aiming to do it by mid august as I have a holiday booked and don't want to feel uncomfortable as I usually do!

Weh hay 2lbs for me this week, whoop whoop! Nearly half way.... and i lost a some bits of cms too Halo even though i have been flakey with exercise this week. MFP should tell me off. DS back to university this weekend so i have control of my life and meals again.

Theythink C25K is great - it isnt easy - you spend the while programme just at the limit of your ability waiting for the next challenge to be easier - and it never is. BUT it does get you to 5k - a real runner. I needed to be on a thread to get the support i needed to keep doing it but i did it. Grin Not sure if the chocolate news is good or aweful....

GBBO15 fab loss, well done!! Star. It wouldnt be a surprise if your hormones had done something clever, seems a bit of a conincidence doesnt it?

Error404 I havent caught up with 'How to stay Young' but it sounds interesting. My boss was talking about the cross legged standing up thing and i can get up without using my hands or other body parts (on 3rd attempt i could manage it without a foot shuffle) but i dont know if i was doing it right . I will catch up and find out. Well done on the loss Grin

Pistey sorry to hear youve stayed the same (and about your woolly hugs of course) but sounds like getting MFP back on the phone may be key. I tend to use it on the ipad or this desktop - could that work for you? or do you need it immediately to hand?

Trimmer well done on the park run, just being able to do it (in public) is success. I know when i was running if i saw a dog walker or whatever coming towards me I ran faster, or when near the house and someone i knew might see me -it all helped me. I think the timing of it helps you to be competitive with yourself, they upload the results dont they - you could have a spreadsheet......

Dreamadream Welcome!! Well done on your loss, you should be pleased its down, a slow steady loss is great, its how it goes on after all. Do you exercise or are you doing it with just diet ( i have to exercise so i can eat a little more or I feel hard done by Grin)

firesafety you never know about the weight - i was out and about yesterday and ate a cinnamon roll and coffee late morning and ended up eating a potato curry with chapatis last night and was still ok today Blush

Thanks for the welcome jelli and we'll done on 2lb!

I'm doing sw and also getting back into running and yoga. I used to go to the gym multiple times a week, but started a new job in the new year and it all went to pot!

DP mentioned the other day that the best shape he's seen me in was when I was running regularly, so getting back into thay and hoping it shaved some of the inches off that are clinging to my arse and thighs!
