I'm doing this for Lent. Just completed Week 1 Run 3.

Seems OK at the moment!

Hi, I'm new to this thread and a total running novice - it has never been my choice of exercise, but now with small kids the ease of just stepping out of the door for 30min plus lack of energy and extra 2 stone following last baby refusing to shift has convinced me to give couch to 5k a go.

I'm only on week 1 and following my second run yesterday seem to have buggered my hip. It's sore round the joint and actually clicking. I did have mild hip issues in first pregnancy which an osteopath sorted out but nothing much second time.

Has anyone got experience of this? I'm hoping it's just a matter of gradually working past it. I have been doing absolutely no exercise for a really long time.

i think you have to be careful and definitely rest between runs.

maybe start with just walking? my neighbour has just started after we were chatting about it all.

he starting with "fast walking" and slower walking for rests. He's not fit enough to do the jogs yet.

I've just started this, have done three runs this week and still found the 3rd one as hard as the 1st! Not sure how I am going to manage a longer run next week - maybe I need to run more than 3x a week?

00100001 · 17/04/2016 19:38

Don't do more runs - rest is really important!

Maybe go slower? :)

00100001 Congratulations!! That's amazing in the 3 months since you started the thread. Bet you're so proud of yourself Grin

I haven't been on here for ages as I had a holiday that set me back a bit, but I'm going to do my final 30 minute run today (still at the gym on the treadmill though). After that I need to get outside and do a proper 5k like you.

I'm nowhere near the distance though, I'm around the 3km mark at the moment in 25 mins, need to speed up if I'm ever going to do 5k in 30 mins.
