I'm doing this for Lent. Just completed Week 1 Run 3.

Seems OK at the moment!

I am now on W2 R3. Want to go out for it today but am waiting for a delivery at the moment. Hopefully I can go out in the afternoon.

I have started this before and never finished it but am on a bit of a weight loss mission and hope this would help me become fitter, healthier and more toned. I am impressed to see how well you guys have been doing!

00100001 · 06/04/2016 13:27

Well done for starting up again Waddle

I am doing Week 8 Run 2 tonight, in the gym on the treadmill - will be interesting to try and keep a constant pace. Going to try for a constant 6m45s per km I think.

Wow week 8!
I am outside so no clue how fast I do it, kinda just aiming for what I seem to be able to do. Lots of people running where I am and all of them super speedy. I am just keeping my head down and am listening to music while 'running' at 0.0001m an hour Wink

Went out just now and the sun was lovely, very windy though!

Beautydiva · 06/04/2016 21:07

And guess what I did ran for 20 minutes today! Week 5 run 2 done Grin ----

Thanks for support of this threadSmile

Pees thats a good speed ! My speed is reducing day by day.

001 how was your run on the treadmill ? Any difference?

Walk well done keep running. I run/jog like you ignoring other people beside me running on full speed. Grin

Beautydiva · 06/04/2016 21:08

Week 5 run 3. Oooops!

00100001 · 06/04/2016 21:12

Well done beauty Smile Smile Smile

I failed at the treadmill - I just stopped at 15minutes. No warning, didn't feel exhausted, nothing, just stopped, very odd Confused I tried to start again after a few minutes, and couldn't. It was so bizarre. I think I was bored and had been running at a consistent pace.

Never doing that again!

I was running round a track on Monday - got lapped by someone! Grin

Well done beauty it's a good feeling isn't it?!

001 I think you started after me so huge congratulations on being nearly finished.

I get bored on the treadmill too, I have to take this running outside when I get back from holiday, then back on the program and get it finished. I'd like to be able to run 5k by the summer, but I'm in no particular rush.

I just know when I'm pounding out 20 minute runs on the treadmill it's doing my bum and legs the world of good (I only started C25K this time round because I read somewhere that running is good to get rid of cellulite!)

Beautydiva · 09/04/2016 22:22

Yup great feeling peas

Week 6 run 1 done. Quite easy

Kreeshsheesh · 09/04/2016 22:32

Am I too late to jump on here? I started c25k two years ago and got to week 8, then stopped! I can't even remember why. I restarted again recently after realising that my waist measurement is a serious diabetes risk above what it should be and I must lose weight! I'm also trying to eat less in general.

00100001 · 10/04/2016 08:24

Never too late!

I completed week 8 - Run 2 on the treadmill on Friday hooray.

Did it at my target pace (overall) of 9km per hour. Had to vary the speed (9, 8.2-8.5,10)

Run 3 tonight hopefully

Someone asked about apps earlier. Google c25k and there's lots of apps that come up. The NHS have a good C25 website with a free app. I downloaded one by Fitness22 as the NHS didn't seem to download on my iPad.

I'm doing it on my treadmill and have completed week 2. Feel a bit nervous about moving up to week3 and the longer run. I'm not finding it comes naturally to me.

I joined a running club before and got up,to 5 minutes running, but found I got stuck at that (and then left because son's football training changed days). Hopefully I'll keep going longer this time, and may even venture outside when I feel braver.

My running speeds are a lot slower than some of yours. However, I did remember the running club leader saying there is no set speed for running apart a speed you can run comfortably and hold a conversation. One of the slow runners I knew has just completed a half marathon so speed down' always matter.

Has anyone got any tips on running longer distances (above 2 minutes!) and keeping going?

00100001 · 11/04/2016 18:42

The NHS one is very good - it focuses on completion, not speed.

If you're struggling, just go slower. :)

That is why I failed my run the treadmill, I was going too fast. I've now completed two 28 min runs :)

00100001 · 11/04/2016 18:45

Also, if you're following the programme, know that you can runfor the time. It's all in your head :)

If you want to give up, Just think about anything else other than how long you have left.

I do a couple of things. Think about jobs that need doing at home or the shopping list. I also try and spot things on my run (eg anything red)

I'm doing this and am up to Week 5.

I found it very difficult at the beginning and thought I'd never get beyond 3 minutes of running. Was doing it in a treadmill at about 10km/hr. Then saw Eddie Izzard doing his multiple marathons for Sports Relief and he was maintaining a speed of 7.5km/hr. I realised I was trying to go way too fast for my short little legs!

So I now run at 7-7.5km/hr. For some it's barely more than a fast walk but it gets me breathing fast and my heart rate up.

Beautydiva · 12/04/2016 18:42

Week 6 run 2 completed yesterday!

For longer runs , just keep going don't stop.

I started with 9 speed and now its been reduced to 6-7ish so I don't stop.

After completing this program l might be focusing on building the speed.

NattyGolfJerkin · 12/04/2016 18:59

Hello all. Smile

I'm on w5 now. Feeling reasonably happy with progress, though I was hoping to be a couple of runs further ahead. Life just got in the way.

I found this programme easier on the treadmill. I think the moving tread helps to propel you, there's no uneven kerbs and there is no wind resistance to slow you down. The downside is boredom and getting tooooo ruddy hot if the gym doesn't have the aircon set cool enough.

Beautydiva · 13/04/2016 21:38

Week 6 completed !
Although It was difficult run , perhaps end of the day I don't enough energy left.

Well done Natty! I know sometimes it gets boring but plus point is you have to keep going, otherwise you will be on floor Grin

I might try running outside tomorrow and will see if I can cope

Kreeshsheesh · 13/04/2016 22:38

Gosh you're all doing so well! I've not even done week 3 run 1 yet due to dreadful weather here. I have signed up for a Race for Life in June, so I'm definitely going to have to really do it properly now!! This would be a major first for me! I'm a very very very slow walker runner.

00100001 · 14/04/2016 07:37

I'm doing Week 8 - Run 3 tonight :) Again probably on the treadmill.

OP posts:
228agreenend · 14/04/2016 19:34

Feeling annoyed. On Tuesday, was doing the run, and my calf started hurting somimstopped. Today I have a headache so am not doing much tonight. Think I'll go back to week two next week (was on week 3, run no. 2).

AnnaChronism · 14/04/2016 20:09

Which couch to 5k plan are you following?
The more I look at the the more there are!

00100001 · 14/04/2016 20:48

I think most of us are doing NHS Couch to 5K

It's excellent

Fitness 22. I did start using NHS, but it seemed to freeze on toy iPad.
