I'm doing this for Lent. Just completed Week 1 Run 3.

Seems OK at the moment!

Please may I join?

I'm up to week 5 and did day 2 yesterday, I didn't know I was running for 8 mins I just kept on going thinkong it was a long 5 minutes! I actually never read the upcoming weeks, I just listen at the time of running, you can imagine my horror to read on this thread my next run is 20 mins!!??? Shock

Now I'm scared. But looking forward to the challenge too. How was it 00100001?

I've signed up to run 5k in May so I need the training.

SugarDiabetes · 16/03/2016 20:44

I started this in January with a friend but due to her injuries we hovered around Week 3 for quite some time.

The most I'd done regularly was a 6 minute session but I leapt into 2x 10 min after a particularly stressful day at work and did ok.

A week later I did my first parkrun, expecting to incorporate lots of walks, but completed it in 31 mins without stopping!!

I think it's incredible how far I've come, from gasping and panting at a 1 minute run.

Sisterelephant · 16/03/2016 20:58

Wow SugarDiabetes that's impressive.

I am enjoying running, never thought I'd say that!

00100001 · 16/03/2016 21:40

sister it sounds scary, but it definitely achievable. Its all in your head :)

I found if I concentrated on the music/the trees/passers by instead of "OMG there's another x minutes to go... And the ground just got a but uphill....waaaah!" it was fine. Grin

You'll definitely be able to do Run 3 :)

I've got 1 final run of week 9 left! Defo got the running/jogging bug but worried what happens after my last run. It gets easier when you're in the zone. Plus it's soooo satisfying with every run you finish!

I need to find another program to follow!
Have to say my legs have slimmed down a bit but I think I need to do this for longer to get more of a change to the rest of my body/belly!

00100001 · 17/03/2016 12:11

pink You might like this program then:

Week 3 run 3 done.

TurnOffTheTv · 17/03/2016 21:26

Just out of interest are you checking how far you are running as well or just doing the times?

00100001 · 17/03/2016 22:06

I checked on my 20 minute run, did 2.7k of running. so , in theory in 30 mins i should be at about 4k. and will try and improve my speed with the C25K+ podcasts :)

Beautydiva · 18/03/2016 09:08

Didn't enjoyConfused.Shin splints and got a discomfort in left knee after doing squats two days ago.

I never managed to do more than week 2 ever so looking forward to week 4 now.

I take a screen picture to compare.
Did 2.29km including warmup yesterday in 24 minutes.

Well done 001! you are inspiring me to keep going Smile

Beautydiva · 18/03/2016 09:09

Ps . 2.29km with walk and run

Beautydiva · 19/03/2016 16:00

Week 4 run 1 completed last night.

Its getting serious!

NattyGolfJerkin · 19/03/2016 16:09

Well done beautydiva Star

I start w2 tomorrow. This is about the 3rd time I've done c25k. I finish it, get a great habit & level of fitness and then something happens (usually illness) and I lose motivation and fitness and end up having to start again a few months later. Trying to keep the habit this time (yeah, yeah!)

Beautydiva · 19/03/2016 21:28

Thanks Smile

Wow 3rd time !

Never got passed week 3.

SugarDiabetes · 20/03/2016 10:20

I got to the stage where I could comfortably run 6 minute sessions and then I joined a friend for a parkrun.
I expected to run and walk but amazed myself in doing it straight through in 31 minutes. It's definitely mind over matter.

00100001 · 20/03/2016 18:54

Just finished Week 6 - Run 2.

Really enjoyed it! Hmm Confused Grin

Natty maybe you should look at the Couch 2 5k+ podcasts?

OP posts:
NattyGolfJerkin · 21/03/2016 08:09

Thanks 00100001, I might do. I do like to listen to my own playlist when I run is the only thing so that's what has put me off the podcasts in the past.

00100001 · 21/03/2016 08:32

OK, I'm pretty sure if you have a poke around the 'net there'll be some without background music :)

OP posts:
Beautydiva · 21/03/2016 08:48

Netty same here. I have downloaded couchto5k app and with that you can listen to you own music.

NattyGolfJerkin · 21/03/2016 21:33

I use a similar thing, beautydiva Smile
