Just done Week 3- Run 3.I somehow managed to jog through the 5 minute warm up walk Confused. I thought "hmm this 90 seconds has lasted a while" and then she then said, OK start your run. And then the app was loaded twice so I had to walk for a bit to reset it, and started at the first 90 sec run!

Anyway, its completed with a bit extra, and was surprisingly easy, especially since the last two were quite tough

Thanks for the advice ,will look into running shoes.

Hoping to do week run 3 tmw

PinkiPhone · 01/03/2016 20:32

Week 7 completed. Week 8 is a 28 min straight run. Begin that tomorrow, hope my knees strengthen up!

Squiffy01 · 02/03/2016 19:17

I've recently started again and I'm on week 3.
The 20 minutes is filling me with dread! I have done it before a few years ago and even got half way through 5k to 10k.
My current gym doesn't have TVs which makes a huge difference to me cause I get bored.
I was also getting disheartened cause I wasn't running fast enough to hit 5k when I eventually would have had to run the entire thing. This time round don't care about speed as long as it's not a walk it totally counts!

cherrytree63 · 04/03/2016 07:07

I've been going to a running club that's loosely following c25k. Wednesday is "training" day, where you increase running times, Monday and Friday they run "homework" sessions to repeat the sets.
Now we've all got a bit fitter we do a measured mile as fast as we can on Mondays, and have just started jogging 5k to get an idea of our times ready for our first Parkrun in two weeks Shock!
It's a great way to do it with group support.
Just thought I'd mention that I tried to take up running last year, but got horrific shin pain within a minute or so. I had my vitd tested (as I was having a lot of health problems) and it was very low, and shin and sternum tendeness/pain can be a symptom, so those with shin splints may find it helpful to have the test.

Week 8 over! One more week to go and then regular running. Can't wait for it to get warmer and run outside!

00100001 · 11/03/2016 12:05

Wow, well done pink how has the program gone for you?

OP posts:
PinkiPhone · 11/03/2016 17:23

The program has been great, I find it easier to follow a program than just exercise as and when I fancy (coz it never happens). I've taken more than 8 weeks to get to this point as Xmas and life gets in the way! But even after a week of no activity it's still doable to pick up where I left off. The program does feel like it suddenly ramps up from week 6 onwards but once you push through it, you realise you can definitely do it. Just keep at it!

Beautydiva · 12/03/2016 14:19

Week 2 run 3 done today. Ah I couldn't run last week.

Reduced speed from 9 - 7.8 . No shin splints ! And it felt easy and doable.

Thanks for the advice of testing vitamin D.I'll have it check

Beautydiva · 13/03/2016 21:22

Week 3 run 1 done.
Found it hard initially but then reduced speed for 3minutes run.

Those who are doing on treadmill, on what speed do you run ?

00100001 · 14/03/2016 07:43

I did week 5 run 2 yesterday (8r, 5w, 8r) was the hardest do far. Next run is 20 mins

OP posts:
PinkiPhone · 14/03/2016 16:42

I'm a treadmill runner/jogger/plodder. I walk at 6.5 km/hr and "run" at 8.8 km/hr but am building up to 9km/hr which was is my usual pace. I don't run fast but I eventually get the distance. Looking forward to warmer weather then will run outdoors to mix it up.

Week 9, run 1 completed last night - totalled 6km including the warm-up/cool-down walk. Was easier than week 8 but I find it helps when treadmill running to watch something on tv/iPad else it's difficult to stay in the zone.

00100001 · 14/03/2016 16:46

I found I could run further on the treadmill. I guess there's no "terrain"?

Week 3 run 2 done. Felt good!

Beautydiva · 16/03/2016 20:01

Wow how did you cope with 20 minutes run ?

Beautydiva · 16/03/2016 20:04

Pinki 8.8 is good! I started with 9 for week 1 now at 7.8 ,will try to gradually build it up

00100001 · 16/03/2016 20:10

The 20 minute was fine. It is definitely "mind over matter" it seems :)

OP posts:
KP86 · 16/03/2016 20:14

I did my first session tonight, only managed the running bits until half way through, but walked the rest of the session. Will try again tomorrow, and hoping to get to at least 20 mins before keeling over!

I'm so damn unfit. 'Fast' walking was only 6km/hr, where that used to be my strolling pace!
