Well done Stew you have done fantastic, you must be thrilled.

I am sad and frustrated. I still weigh 12st 11 it's been there since Wednesday, at this rate when it comes to Monday if the scales haven't gone down I will weigh the same as I weighed Monday 2 weeks before. Sad I don't know whats happening, I'm trying so hard I'm eating the same meals, weighing and logging everything and drinking water, I'm averaging 1100 cals a day. I keep thinking if I keep going the 2lb will be gone but it's not happening.

Sunday I weighed 12st 10
Monday I weighed 12st 9
Tuesday I weighed 12st 9
Wednesday I weighed 12st 11 and it's not moved since. I don't know what else I'm supposed to do. Sad

I'm even more determined to stick to this because I'm pissed off, I will not be defeated by these stupid scales, I've seen the weight drop I want to be slim I just can't understand why my weights gone up and not moved when I'm doing everything the same. I expected bloat to be gone within 4 days.

Not2bObvious · 13/02/2016 09:21

That's very frustrating and upsetting must. I've been reading some other threads about weight loss and it was mentioned what you see on the scales is a reflection of 10 days ago. I do remember this being mentioned before. I think 1100 is too low as well - do you feel ok on that? Starvation mode is a myth imho (and other more scientific folk - v unlikely) but what isn't a myth is consistent deprivation will lead to binges or even worse an eating disorder long term. One of the things that's stuck in my mind was a program that said a lot of woman can become anorexic in adult life, the lady I saw went on a diet to lose a couple of stone and just couldn't stop. Heartbreaking, she'd lost inches off her height, looked like a tiny old child
Don't give up, I'd suggest giving up weighing so often but I don't think you'd agree. If you keep going, it will pay off.

wispaxmas · 13/02/2016 09:36

Oh, must, that sounds demoralising. I remember having the same happen to me years ago when I was trying to lose weight for my wedding. I actually think weighing every day made things worse for me. I'm actively trying not to weigh in every day this time. Rationally I know that the number on the scale isn't the be all end all because muscle is denser than fat and you might be losing fat, but toning muscle and getting much healthier without the scales ever changing.. But still, seeing it go stagnant like that is really rough.

MustBeThin · 13/02/2016 09:44

Yeah I'm ok on that, I feel that if I've had my meals and factored in my tea and jaffa cakes at night and I'm under my calories but not hungry, there's no point in trying to make my calories up because then I'd be eating for the sake of eating which is what I used to do. I'm not a very active person, I work from home so don't really burn a lot of calories. Some days I eat 1200 whereas others I can be just under 1000 that's why I probably average 1100 a day. I'm just frustrated as to why 2lbs has appeared and not gone in 4 days. I don't get it at all. Wednesday was the last day I took my pill (when the gain appeared) I'm not on my period yet, that usually happens Mondayish but I've had 2 periods while I've been eating like this and it didn't happen before. Sad I've gained 1lb twice, once it went the next day the other after about 2 days.

Thankfulforeveryday · 13/02/2016 09:52

I sooooo get how you feel must. I stick to a strict 1200 everyday, I exercise 4 times a week too. My scales have said the same for a week now, not even moved half a lb!! Sometimes there is just no explanation and generally this is when people tend to give up too so try not to do that. Maybe stick in a brisk walk, if only for 15 minutes. It'll make you feel better too. I've only been back in the gym since December and the difference in my mood is the biggest improvement! Stick at it, you can and you will do this!!! Smile

aleC4 · 13/02/2016 10:45

Hi all. I am really struggling at the mo. Lost my motivation and finding it harder and harder. I've only lost 6 lb since Christmas and stayed the same weight for 3 weeks now.
I know I need to up my exercise and I'm on half term this week so hoping to get out and about and reach my 10,000at least every day.
I am just rubbish at resisting the snacks!! I have tried so hard to cook healthy meals but have been so busy with work and then I resort to something quick I can shove in the oven.
Needed to come back to this thread today to refocus myself so thanks!

aleC4 · 13/02/2016 10:47

I set my MFP as 1lb a week and it has given my 1550 a day. That sounds like a lot to me?

Testarossa1 · 13/02/2016 11:37

Put a pound on this week, so back at 10st. I've eaten loads this week, so surprised it's not more. Had a trip to Pizza Hut, but we were starving after 2 hours at an audition for Pointless! Plus I made homemade double choc chip cookies later in the week which I couldn't stop scoffing!! Combined with 3 pasta dinners and no trips to the gym I expected to have put on more!!!

Will be better next week (I hope)

I only weigh once a week, on a Saturday morning. Think it shows a truer reflection than weighing everyday, as weight can fluctuate for many reasons, plus you can get a bit obsessive about it. Make sure you weigh at the same time of day, wearing the same clothes or naked (as I do) as different clothes can make a weight difference, as can weighing at a different time of day or after eating.n

Not2bObvious · 13/02/2016 13:27

I'm going back to weighing Tuesday's & Friday's - it gives me an idea of what damage I've done over the weekend and gives me the heads up to get myself in check for Friday!
AleC 6 pound in 6 weeks isn't shabby at all. I'm down 3lbs in the same time and I'm working hard to change my mindset to accept/be happy with it. Could I have done better? Yes of course, could I have done worse - hell yeah but it's going in the right direction. I use the notes on my phone and record each weigh in, pattern seems to be 2-3 pounds a month. Over a year that's 24-36lb, I'd be thrilled with that.
Did around 40 mins of Davina and a load of housework. Off for a walk in a bit if the weather stays ok

Emz449 · 13/02/2016 17:04

Must, don't be disheartened, weight loss isn't something that you can predict and despite our best intentions the scales fluctuate. You're doing great! Are you exercising at all? Have you taken measurements? There are lots of other ways to measure weight loss. Have you heard of the body coach? He calls scales the sad step and he's right, my mood is determined on how much i weigh in the morning so I'm trying to step away from the scales and focus on how my clothes feel and how my body looks. I had an awful eating disorder when some days I survived on 200 calories a day and sometimes the scales would go up even though I had nothing but a cuppa soup!

wispaxmas · 13/02/2016 17:12

Ale, do you have mfp set to sedentary or a more active setting? If you say you've got an active job it sets your calorie goal higher. I'm set to sedentary and to lose 0.5kg (little over a lb) and it's given me 1420. Also, it'll depend on your height. I'm 5'5".

wispaxmas · 13/02/2016 17:16

Weather is terrible here and my toddler has given me her cold, but I still managed to get out with the dog for an hour walk. I've had 800 calories so far today and our leftover cottage pie should set me back 400 for dinner. I might have a highlights hot chocolate after, though. Feeling good about myself!

aleC4 · 13/02/2016 18:54

Wispa where do I put that in? I can't remember what I set it to and now I can't find where to check?

wispaxmas · 13/02/2016 20:59

Under goals I think!

wispaxmas · 13/02/2016 21:00

Yep- activity level is under goals

MFP to lose weight - Part 4
Not2bObvious · 14/02/2016 09:31

Morning all. Bad luck catching a cold wispa, completely unavoidable with dribbly small ones of course. Hope it's not too bad a dose. Feeling so bloated, no movement since Thursday evening and it's killing me. Also aching a bit from my workout yesterday, but at least that shows it did something. Anybody doing anything romantic today? I used to love Valentines as a young one, now it just brings out the grumpy old woman in me - bought cards for kids & dh and we'll have a nice lunch, although to be fair we'd do that most Sunday's minus the cards! Might walk to the shops if the rain stops later, but for now bed/book & hopefully breakfast if dh is feeling generous 😉

MustBeThin · 14/02/2016 09:57

Morning all! Hope you all have a lovely valentines day, me and OH have swapped gifts and I've been spoiled. Smile No real plans for today, just having the usual beef dinner OH will probably watch Football while I read or colour. Scales juggled between 12st 10 and 9 so hopefully it'll be back to 9 soon, I wouldn't mind that because then it'll be like I've stayed the same for a week, funnily enough I ate all my calories yesterday and it's the first time in days the scales have had a downward movement. Hmm maybe I need to eat them all more often?

wispaxmas · 14/02/2016 11:20

Romantic... Well I did get a lie in and breakfast in bed! Sure, it was a pain au chocolat and COMPLETELY not mfp friendly, but I didn't have the heart to turn it down. Planning soup for lunch and H is making dinner- though I've requested something healthy and comforting- chicken and leek stew. I won't have the accompanying mash, though.

I wonder if the number on the scale will have moved when I weigh in... It usually moves fairly fast the first week after dramatically changing calorie intake, right? I've not calorie counted (well, used ww online) since before my wedding 3 years ago, but I remember the first month or two went really well and then I plateaued and even though I stuck with it I ended up giving up after seeing no change for a couple months.

I know a few of you are having trouble with a plateau- any tips on persevering?

wispaxmas · 14/02/2016 11:22

Just realised I'm getting ahead of myself and expecting a plateau. Even now I'm finding it hard to be optimistic, whoops.

aleC4 · 14/02/2016 15:37

Well done to all who have had losses. I am down another lb today so got my half stone. It feels good to have reached a milestone.
I promised myself a treat every half stone and optimistically booked a hair appointment for tomorrow!

MustBeThin · 15/02/2016 08:38

Morning! Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I think I'm back down to 12st 9, scales did juggle between 8 and 9 too. Grin I don't mind that, it means I've stayed the same for a week . I feel dead bloated today TOM has started.......sometimes I really envy men. Envy

Anyone noticed that they crave sweet stuff less? I mean at night sometimes before my tea and jaffa's I feel like I could eat but I don't fancy anything in particular it's more that I'm bored and want to eat out of habit. I don't think "I right fancy a choc bar" or anything. I'm sure it'll all be different this week though with TOM but tbh it's not been that bad craving wise the last couple of times.

JontyDoggle37 · 15/02/2016 11:45

Flying visit. Eating not under control, life got massively in the way, will weigh tomorrow and see where I'm at
