I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Hi to you all, I will weigh myself in a mo, have to work myself up to it :(

Well done Piste, four pounds is fab and great to catch up with you and Blondes again.

Wine is my downfall, not food really and i need to get my lazy arse out to do some bloody exercise again!

Morning all

Well done Pistey!

Not prepped any breakfast or lunch today, so think I'll grab eggs on toast this morning, and then head to M&S for lunch.
(This is not just diet food, this is really expensive diet food...)

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2016 09:38

Well done pisty. Fab start :)

And you need a Nigel :)

He coped magnificently with needles yesterday

bowbear · 06/01/2016 10:16

Hii I hope everyone's week is off to a good start. Is there a set weigh in day or just whatever suits?
I'm three days in and so far so good. I'm fine when it's just routine, social plans always send me off track so I need to learn to manage those otherwise I'll have to become a tea total hermit which doesn't appeal at all!

prettybird · 06/01/2016 10:37

Need to add myself to the list. Ds back at school today, so have started in earnest. Already done the Shred. Need to walk briskly to the Post Office to post ds' passport renewal.

My own passport runs out in July - but given that I've never been so heavy, I might wait a bit before taking new passport photos! Grin

Bowbear – I think it’s a case of ‘whatever suits you’ really.. which is nice, as I think a lot of ladies have very different approaches on the thread – so whatever you’re feeling comfortable with. I’m not going to weigh myself until the end of each month as I tend to get obsessed with the scales and it really gets to me if I’ve eaten healthy but not lost weight from one day to the next. As I’m really trying to make this a lifestyle choice, I’m hoping I can relax a bit more – Plus, it wouldn’t matter even if I stepped on the scales tomorrow as I when I weighed myself, I closed my eyes and my partner made a note! He’ll just let me know the new figure at the end of the month :-)

I’ve got to navigate a ‘work meeting with lunch’ at 12:30 which was sprung on me – I hate them as I really worry about eating too much and of the wrong kind of thing. Unfortunately the earliest I could possibly grab something to eat would be 15:30 so will need to eat something before then…. I also stupidly forgot to bring any fruit with me, so will try to make the right choices and not go crazy!

Error404usernamenotfound · 06/01/2016 12:11

Hi, may I be a late joiner please? I cannot stick to plans (I think part of me rebels against being told what I should and shouldn't eat), so am just cutting out most sugar, and watching portion sizes and snacks a little more closely.

Hoping to lose 15lb, although it may be less, depending on how my body reacts as I've never managed to get to that weight before - it's within healthy range but near the lower end. I don't want to be thin though, so I'll see how it goes Smile

Good luck everyone!

I wi Friday as always think if bad over weekend have 4 days to pull it back

Seems to work for me. Lost well over 2stone last time but think was
About the time dh died and all went up the creek - plus 2 failed ivf - the drugs are nightmare - still have serious flabby tummy from them :( and my dm dying and I just got complacent and ate

I know if I stick to SW it works ..,,,,,,

B eggs fruit
L chicken cass and veg
T salmon rice and veg

Cheese on toast for a&ab ans prob crisps for Syns

bowbear · 06/01/2016 12:45

Thank you fluffy, good luck with your lunch, it's so difficult when meal planning is out of our control and temptation is put in our path! Love that you are doing this blind, it's so easy to become too focused on the number on the scales and forget about the bigger picture. Permanent lifestyle change is definitely what I'm working towards!

Kim82 · 06/01/2016 13:47

My meals have changed from what I said I would have today. Breakfast was scrambled egg and baked beans, lunch was fruit salad with natural yoghurt poured over and a packet of weight watchers crisps (5 syns). Dinner is a potato/onion/egg thingy dh makes. He puts streaky bacon on it too but I'll give that a miss as there are too many syns in it and I'm saving them for my chocolate tonight!

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 06/01/2016 13:49

I am not doing a particular diet plan - just trying not to eat as much crap. I've done WW and Slimming World in the past and TBH I ought to be able to follow the principles.

I am struggling with lunches though. I'm a SAHM currently and find I don't have much prep time. I've stuck some soup in the slow cooker today for tomorrow to try and help. What do the rest of you eat?

Error404usernamenotfound · 06/01/2016 14:04

grrr, just lost a long message, stupid laptop...

Short version: I struggle with lunches as well, especially as I would only be making things for myself as DH usually buys his own at work, and so things often go off before I have a chance to finish them.

I'm out all day, and don't have access to kitchen facilities during the day as am a student.

Any ideas welcome! Also, ideas for SAHMs, as I've slightly hijacked Libraries's question! Blush

FluffyPersian · 06/01/2016 14:13

I survived lunch Grin. So far, I have Willpower++ (Geek joke) as I had 2 small, square sandwiches – One salmon, one ham.. and a small handful of vegetable crisps and a Satsuma! To be fair, there wasn’t a lot of unhealthy things there, but I could have gone crazy and eaten loads of sandwiches or had the deserts they had around….

Does anyone else get really anxious when food choices are out of their control?

Libraries – When I’m working from home, I tend to make a chicken salad for lunch, or have a sweet potato with beans. Sainsburys do a really, really nice butternut squash risotto pot which is incredibly tasty and you basically just microwave it.

To the women doing WW or SW – Don’t you find you obsess about things.. How many points, how many syns, what is ‘good’, what is ‘bad’? I appreciate you can lose weight on both, but as I’m incredibly lazy about certain things, I found logging my food a total ballache. I tried on My Fitness Pal and scanning barcodes was fine, but when I then had to calculate how much was in a home made spaghetti bolognaise portion…. I reached my limit very quickly with that, as well!

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 06/01/2016 14:34

Ah, one of my complications (which I should have mentioned) is we don't have a microwave. We're about to get one, but don't yet.

I like the idea of chicken salad. Cooking a chicken breast for one always seems so decadent, but I realise it isn't really and I'm just being odd Grin

SquadGoals · 06/01/2016 15:16

Hope I'm ok to join. I started low carbing and exercising early December and have lost 8lbs in a month - even with no exercise and no low carbing for 2 weeks over Christmas!

Back on track this week - aiming for low carb and just watching calories initially, as well as 4 times a week in the gym. I'm weirdly enjoying the exercise aspect, although taking it slowly due to a long-term injury.

Starting weight on Dec 4 was 79kg, now 75.5kg and aiming for around 64kg initially. Once I'm there, I'll see how I look - with the potential of going down to 60kg (I'm 5ft 9).

Food is going well so far, we'll just see if I manage to drag myself out into the cold for Body Pump at 8pm tonight! I'm going to get changed into my gym stuff as soon as I get home tonight because if I sit down in my work clothes, I won't get up until bedtime!

Been to the gym - so much better than last night, going to do my best to avoid the evenings until it calms down again.

I'm on MFP, my calorie limit is 1200, but love how going to the gym gives me extra!

Gin fan here, and look what DD gave me for Christmas Grin

The 'anything goes' 2016 Weight Loss thread.
GBBO15 · 06/01/2016 16:51

Aw thanks Pistey! I feel ok today but really really need this wee one to start sleeping a bit better- sleep deprivation + breastfeeding appetite does not make for easy weight loss! But well done with your 4lb, don't think I've ever managed to lose that much in a week.

libraries I'm at home at the minute too and lunches are tricky, especially if I'm out and about for the day, hopefully people will have some ideas. I'm vegetarian which can make it more awkward as well.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/01/2016 17:14

I remember the sleep deprivation well, the breastfeeding, and the yearning for comfort food, but it truly does get better. It does.

Well the sleep part at least. I could nearly always murder a bag of Twiglets

Grin
Buttwing · 06/01/2016 17:32

Gb I feel your pain too, dc4 is 14 months and is a dreadful sleeper I feel and look like the living dead. If I had hah him first I wouldn't have had four children!!
Pistey well done on that weightloss that's amazing!

KeepsAwayTheNargles · 06/01/2016 17:35

My what a positive thread Grin

Well in the first week back on it I'm 3lb down :) keep the motivation going, guys!

Waiting until DS is in bed hopefully before 10.30 unlike last night then will do Yoga Camp day 5... Not looking forward to it today as I'm struggling with tight sore muscles - they're unimpressed at being used after so long!
