I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Hello, welcome newbies, congrats on losses! I have also been slightly hiding from this thread for the last few days, as the scales have not been saying what they should be saying, and I've been a bit stressed anyway so have reverted slightly back to bad habits. Blush

I weighed myself this morning, and am back to the weight I was two weeks ago, ie before the sudden ballooning...

So I'm back on it now, and will try harder to stay on track this time!

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2016 19:15

sts sorry on phone and about to dash out so a quickie from me

well done all losers :)

GettinTrimmer · 29/01/2016 19:40

Naughty Trimmer Blush got home from work hungry and had some dry roasted peanuts, a bag of low fat crisps and a few maltesers. I would have had more maltesers but managed to stop myself by having a cadbury's hilights drink. Pure comfort eating. Tomorrow's another day Smile

busy weekend for me, not bought dd a birthday present yet, very messy house to clean, another two kids tomorrow night for sleepover, then dd's party on Sunday.

Bringonsummer · 29/01/2016 19:52

justabigbear dont be too impressed with my hardcore fasting, 2 days in a row is a rarity and has only ever happened twice!

gbbo dont ever question the scales when they are being kind. They have clearly been better trained than mine Grin

trimmer good luck with the housework, sleepovers and parties. With a weekend like that to look forward to i would be in need of a stiff drink let alone a bit of comfort eating. In fact i am generally always in need to a stiff drink by Friday, which sends me off to the kitchen for a bit of cocktail shaking (works off at least 2 cals by my reckoning) ....Cheers!

Error404usernamenotfound · 29/01/2016 20:14

That's not that bad, trimmer; peanuts are fatty but it's good fat, the crisps won't be horrendous as they're low-fat, and maltesers are mostly air, also you stopped after only a few.

Hope your DD has a lovely birthday.

I'm struggling to find the happy middle between counting every calorie and logging everything I eat (not realistic, also it's not how I want to be), and not being aware of what/how much I am eating and therefore what needs to change. I am trying to do what I call 'conscious eating', where I don't count calories or cut things out, but I make deliberate choices about food, according to my knowledge of what's healthy and nutritious, how hungry I am, and what I've eaten recently. So if I really want a chocolate bar, I will think back to when and how often I have had chocolate recently, to try to make sure that the treat isn't becoming too frequent, or a habit (eg, if I keep wanting chocolate at 4pm, it's becoming a habit and I need to work out how to make sure I don't get to the point where my willpower is non-existent, eg by eating a bit more for lunch or having something healthy to munch on in my bag). Long story short; I still get the chocolate bar, just not every time I want one. Smile So that's my (slightly longwinded Blush) plan; I wanted to have it in writing to fix it in my brain, and also to have some kind of accountability with you lot. Grin

GBBO15 · 29/01/2016 21:31

I like the sound of the Conscious Eating Error! Exactly how I'd like to do things Smile

FluffyPersian · 30/01/2016 09:11

Hi Everyone!

Hope you've all had a great start to your weekends! We completed on our Dream House yesterday so were busy moving things and today is painting fun! I decided to weigh myself today as I think the scales will be packed today and God knows where they will end up tomorrow (we're moving from rented to bought so have some crossover).

Sooooooo.... Since January 1st I've lost 11.5 lbs.

My first reaction was actually 'That's crap', because I've been able to lose over 1 stone in the first month easily - However I then remembered it's because I would combine healthy eating with gym 3 times a week minimum and I've not gone once due to packing / moving and my current job commute.

Now we've got the house, we're setting up 'the gym' so I'm hoping to use the running machine to always walk 10,000 steps a day and will build up from there - I think I'd like to lose 10 lbs next month so it would be 1.5 stoneish by the end of February Smile

Still totally motivated to shift some of my wobble by the summer and hopefully go wedding dress shopping and feel happy about how I look Grin

Right! More packing and moving stuff! (I ache so much, it's untrue!)

Bringonsummer · 30/01/2016 09:29

Congrats on the house move fluffypersian. Sounds like you will get a bit of a workout with all the moving and painting. 11.5lbs weight loss in a month is fantastic in my book. I would have to chop off a limb to accomplish that so really well done and a great foundation for next month.

I think its impossible to look bad in a wedding dress. I loved shopping for them, everything looked great. Infact i would love to do the whole wedding all over again, just to do the dress shopping. Normally i hate shopping and find it thoroughly depressing. What an exciting time for you. Smile

GettinTrimmer · 30/01/2016 13:58

Error that makes me feel a bit better! can't see wood for the trees sometimes. I agree with you about being more discerning about what is going in.

I've read about the blood group diet, it's not suitable for me as it recommends plenty of lean meat, but I do eat fish, and next week I am planning on increasing fish and nuts and cutting out wheat for a while. Also recommended is no coffee, but I can't, I really can't! My only vice, I hardly drink alcohol these days, but having said that, will seriously be in need of gin after dd's party tomorrow. She's been very hyper at the moment and has painted her face with felt tip, asked ds to tip a bucket of water over her head but thankfully has just calmed down and is doing her friend's hair.

Fluffy that's great, 11.5lb! Enjoy your new home Smile How far do you think is 10,000 steps? A mile? I don't have the same motivation to shift the wobble, but do have some clothes I would love to fit into.

Bringon I laughed at the cocktail shaking! I admire your ability to do the 5:2, one of my short term diets last year.

madein1995 · 30/01/2016 14:11

Well, that was a bit of a rubbish week! I gained 4 pounds Sad . I know why though. The pancakes and nutella, meals out and wine hasn't helped at all. So I've set myself a few challenges. 1) To weigh everything to get accurate calories on nutracheck. 2) Not to eat junk food - chocolate, crisps, ice cream etc - this week. 3) To stop drinking alcohol this week. I drink far too much and rely on it, and the empty calories in wine don't help. Besides, when I drink I want to eat too so it's doubly bad. The alcohol one will be the hardest I think.

Fairenuff · 30/01/2016 14:54

madein well done for getting right back on it. It's so disheartening to gain but you will be thrilled when those lbs start coming off again. Do you set yourself mini-targets? I find it motivating to have something more immediate to aim for even if it's to just maintain weight for a week. It's helps to get me in the right mindset and keep me motivated.

GettinTrimmer · 31/01/2016 13:03

It was supposed to be my dd's party today - she's 11 years old today - sadly she's in bed with nasty virus Sad I suspect the norovirus. I am surrounded by party food: crisps, cheese & onion rolls, cheesy biscuits etc, but had a generous breakfast. Hopefully it will keep for when we can rebook her party.

Hope everyone is doing OK today.

Madein new week, we all have those bad weeks. Agree with Fairenuff small targets are good, reward yourself with a non-food treat at the end of the week.

Error404usernamenotfound · 31/01/2016 14:19

Oh, Trimmer, your poor DD! Sad I hope she gets well soon and enjoys her belated birthday. You could tell her she's like the Queen for having two birthdays. Grin

madein, well done on not letting one bad week throw you off course; I'm sure this week will be better. I can't permit nutella, or any other chocolate spread, to enter the house, as I can't be trusted not to just sit and eat it by the spoonful, or spread it 1/2" thick on a piece of toast. It's a problem...

Congratulations on the weight loss and the house move, Fluffy!

I'm having a bit of a crap weekend myself, to do with medication issues, and a head-cold-filled-and-therefore-sleepless DD. Trying hard not to comfort eat, although I am seriously craving sugar right now.

GBBO15 · 31/01/2016 14:37

error I too have a Nutella problem! Also fell off wagon badly with chocolate last night. But it's a new day and have until Friday to try to compensate!

Trimmer hope poor dd gets well soon

Another 3lbs off this week. I'm actually thinking of changing my end-goal, however. This isn't a cop-out!
My original goal was 16lbs, which would have got me down to 8st 2lbs. I'm a bit concerned that I'm going to end up looking like a skeleton and/or a pin head with that much weight off.

So, I've upped my end goal to 8st 5lbs, which is another 8lbs to go for me. And with 8 weeks to Easter, I'm hoping I can get there before the Easter weekend pig out

Sorry to be a pain but I don't want to go too far!

MABS · 01/02/2016 08:19

sorry for silence, was with 15 year old son all weekend for England Cricket Board Disability Talent Development Programme. Delighted to say he made it through the trials and has been selected ! may have had few drinks last night...

GBBO15 · 01/02/2016 08:49

Congratulations MABS! I don't blame you for enjoying a few celebratory drinks!

GettinTrimmer · 01/02/2016 09:19

Morning all

My dd is off sick today, so I'm not at work, but not feeling to great either, just a cold, but enough to feel a bit off colour.

dd felt better yesterday (but then felt poorly again later Sad), and insisted on having a piece of her birthday cake. A great big Thorntons chocolate one. It is in the fridge now, but I only had small piece yesterday. I will have to make sure I don't get too hungry to avoid temptation.

Big silver lining for me today Smile I bought myself a cheap pair of size 16 trousers from Tesco, thinking that I'll lose weight and these will do as an interim pair. Couldn't do them up at beginning of January. Today - I am wearing them!!! Grin

MABS that's great news!

Cabbage well done on 3lb

GBB yes I had a falling off wagon on Friday night, we'll get there.

Error How are you today? Hope your dd wasn't too bad last night. Did you get some sleep?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/02/2016 11:42

Mad mad time here, apologies for being AWOL

I'm off to catch up with you all Brew

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/02/2016 11:48

Great news MABS and fab losses all

Hope all poorly folk rally, can't seem to get beyond feeling exhausted here, and now less than 2 weeks until we go skiing so having a panic.

Had a flying visit from DD who was lurgied this weekend, she went back to Edinburgh this morn. Not sure when I'll find that goodbye any easier.

Heyho

House looks like a bomb went off. Need to shift

Laters slinkies

Kim82 · 01/02/2016 13:43

Sorry, I disappeared off the thread this week. Well done on the losses ladies. I went for my WI this morning and have lost another 2lb which takes my total for January a 13.5lb loss. I really don't feel the 2lb was deserved this week, especially as I drank my own body weight in vodka on Saturday night so I'm really chuffed I lost.

Good luck for the week ahead everyone.

Congrats MABS, and well done on the losses Kim and Cabbage!

DD is much better since yesterday, thank you Trimmer; she slept all night last night till 6am.

Although, now she's just woken up crying...back in a bit...
