I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Signing in Grin I have 4 stone to lose, my cholesterol is too high and my loveliest clothes are stuck in my wardrobe mocking me every time I open the door. I am going to do Slimming world. I'm on holiday at the mo but will be signing up on Wednesday. Dreading the first class, always gives me the rage. Feel so irritated by how long the first visit is and the length of time it takes to go through everyone's weight losses and gains. I just want to scream. I can't do it on my own though, so I will have to just get on with it. Smile

Can I join? I have been on these threads for the past 2 years. Lost 3 stone and gain a stone 2 stone the first year, and lost 1 stone and gained most of it 4lbs last year. I have about 3 stone to lose. I hope to be starting work again after 5 years off so no staying at home and snacking all day. I did the mfp and fitbit last year but had a few problems with keeping on with it. Going to start tomorrow morning with weighing and measuring.

Pistey lovely to see you all back from holiday and settled in?

I know what it's like Tinkle to have lovely clothes stuck in the wardrobe, I am determined to get into some of them come summer.

After my big breakfast, I am still no hungry and haven't eaten lunch yet. Could be the way to go for me.

OK, to get organised, what does everybody think of a spreadsheet idea? We add our weights every week, so then it is like a club. I mentioned something about it upthread - we could do a list and copy and paste it every time we weigh in.

I'm in! Need to lose in the region of 8-10 kg. Will assess the exact damage at tomorrow's weigh in!

Also with you on the lovely clothes Tinkle and Salacious... I have several pre-DS summer dresses that I'd love to be able to wear by September when I'm on holiday! Fingers crossed :)

Just finished todays Yoga Camp - it didn't feel too much while I was doing it but 20 mins later I'm a bit wobbly and know I'll be feeling it tomorrow! Glad I did it as my bit of a headache was putting me off but DH gave me a nudge...

Also like the spreadsheet idea :) I'm aiming to lose 20kg initially, (re)starting weight was 87.4kg yesterday (was originally more last year but I've managed to lose 19lbs so far!)

Salacious ssheet sounds great, will give us all some accountability!

Aphie try stocking up on sparkling mineral water, mix it 1/4 with Innocent or other fresh juice and you can get your fizzy drink fix without the insane sugar load.

Also mumontherun will you go high protein when you drop your carbs? Think that will get the weight off super quick with the training you'll be doing to do a Half in March. I always struggle with tiredness though when I cut carbs, and with bfeeding when I get hungry I get VICIOUSLY hungry so not sure low carbs are going to work for me just now.

But SNAP! I had avocado and tomato on country grain toast for breakfast myself! lol. Didn't know it was a Nigella thing, it's actually an Aussie staple. Sooo yummy.

Ooh me too please. Had a foot op late last year so 2015 was very bad and I now.really need to lose weight. Initially 2st 11 would get me down to a size 14ish at which point I know from previous is a good weight for me to up the exercise level and lose another 2 stone. For the first 'slow half' I just want to get back walking and eating healthier, at this weight any more exercise is likely to cause injury (except swimmIbg which is always good but hard to get to where I live)and anything too drastic food wise doesn't last.

On the subject of really nice clothes, I will go through my whole wardrobe. I also have a pair of 3/4 length white jeans, size 12

I have just pounded my treadmill for 15 minutes, even got up to a very short burst of 10K per hour. Starting the Shred on Tuesday.

I found the last thread I was on a few years ago worked really well for me, much more so than a class such as slimmers world or ww. Will give our spreadsheet some thought, there's doodle polls or something - we used to simply copy and paste a list like this:

Just examples:

Crumb: Weight to lose: 3.5 stone, Weight loss: 2lb, weight to goal: 20lb
Blondes: Weight to lose: 3 stone, Weight loss 3lb, Weight to goal 18lb

Then we would copy and past to add ourselves, then after weigh in update the list. Worked quite well. We did post our starting weight, but not everyone would want to do that. Or someone earlier said they don't weigh in at all, that is Ok as well, just stay for chat. It was great seeing us all lose weight every week Smile

Hmm really need to do something to start my exercise plan.

Green if I stall I do a food diary it usually shows up anything and I always lose more the week I write it all down.

I'm really trying to find new things to eat to stop myself getting bored. I went to Tesco and got some of their pre-prepared veg bits they do cauli rice, courgette spaghetti and similar but they had a new one called veg cous cous it was really finely chopped veg (no actually cous cous) I had it with little gem lettuce, edamame beans, and a chicken breast it was really nice and filled me up until now.

Id like to join, if I may?

I was really getting on top of my weight, my fitness and feeling happy with where I was when we lost my lovely mil in 2015. Since then I just haven't had the emotional energy and have let things slide and put on a fair whack. I would like to lose 2-3 stone, but will weigh myself in the morning.

I plan on cutting back alcohol, sugar and takeaways and also sorting my portion sizes out. Will be doing 5:2 as well as I found it really helps me stay on track.

I also want to get more active again - I feel it really healthy with my mental health.

Hopefully with two fast days and cutting down the rest of the nasties I'll be able to lose at a sensible rate and keep it off!

I like the posting weight and loss at each posting on wi day - I'm more consistent if I'm accountable!

I'm going to wi on a Monday, bit of an incentive to reign it in at the weekend. I find I'm ok during the week, i don't tend to eat in the morning and can just have a salad or soup for lunch at work, and am usually not hungry by the time I'm home -but then i eat EVERYTHING in sight at the weekend.

Thanks for the yoga tips up thread, i want to start with a class - total novice - i spend half the video going 'where?!' and the other half shouting 'HOW?!?!?!' so think I'll start with an actual person but will be keeping up at home in the interim days.

Hello SalaciousCrumb :)

I'm looking to lose about 5 stone this year, which I'm hoping to do with healthy eating. I can lose 4.5 stone on slim fast... loose 6 stone on the GI Diet... Lose 4 stone just by healthy eating and exercise - and everything is fine until something upsets me... then as I'm such an emotional eater, it all goes back on again!

I'm really going to try and keep it off this year - sadly the last few months of last year were very, very traumatic for me and all I did was eat and eat and eat. I'm 5ft8, so can carry a certain amount of weight and look 'OK', but at the moment I believe I look horrific Sad.

Thankfully my partner is really supportive which is good - I work in London 3 days a week which has a 2 hour commute each way, so by the time I get home, I don't want to go to the gym or cook anything as I'm so knackered! I think this is a key thing to change, so am meal planning and we're moving house at the end of January and will be turning one of our bedrooms into a mini gym (he's already got a running machine , multigym etc).

I've started my healthy eating on 1st January and the last 3 days have gone well - I don't know how much I weigh as I thought I'd immediately get demotivated if I saw the number.. so I asked my partner to look at the number and I closed my eyes when I got on the scales! Grin I'll weigh myself once a month and as I don't know what I weighed on 1st January... He'll tell me how much I've lost each month so I can continue to live in ignorance until I fit back into my size 14 jeans (ETA about 6 months I think!).

I'm exactly the same as you in regards to not sticking to a plan - The idea of WW groups or SW groups fills me with fear... and I don't like 'rules', so I just eat healthy, cut down on rubbish and try and exercise more Smile

I hope you don't mind me tagging along? Smile

Happy new bloody year to me - I figured out today that I have a prolapse. Exacerbated by the weight I have put on recently. Off to the doctors tomorrow. Need to get this weight off sharpish.... Not exactly the motivator I anticipated Confused

Buttwing, thanks. I'll try the diary. I've also started buying some pre prepared veg as busy working and ready prepared really helps. I just need to get more in each meal I think.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 03/01/2016 21:09

Oh no, hope the doc sorts you sharpish!

I lost almost 5 stone through low carbing. This was a few years ago. Kept it off whilst running but now I'm not running I've put some back. I sometimes juice as well. That works for me

But it is all a bit mixed up as I'm now going through menopause ( I'm 47)

A hot flush at mile 4 in marathon training is no joke!

Op a spreadsheet sounds fab

Fluffypersian of course you can join, you are welcome Smile I also have a problem with keeping the weight off, but determined to do it now.

Freshstart - if you have one piece, would you eat the whole lot? Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. My dh eats nuts and crisps in front of me, torture at times. I get him to hide them!

Good luck at the docs Goodbetterbest, this thread will keep us all motivated.

Anybody who wants to do so, are you Ok with posting weigh ins? Can't work out how we can access a spreadsheet Blush posting in a list each wi is what we did last time, and it worked very well. If anybody wants to post their weight, please do so, but I prefer to put down the number of lbs I want to lose.

Let me know if anybody has any other ideas for something that may work more efficiently - I've started the list below. I am going to post the amount I want to lose, followed by weight loss every time I weigh in (will update every week) then a figure with a decreasing amount.

I can start:

Crumb: Weight to lose: 50lb, Weight loss: 0, Weight to goal: 50lb.

Then when I wi on Friday I update with how much I've lost. The next person who wants to add to the list copies and pastes mine, then adds themselves and so on.

Fluffy: Weight to lose: 70lb, Weight loss: 0, Weight to goal: 70lb.

I'll only be stepping on the scales once a month, but will deffo copy and paste the last list! Smile

I know what usually happens - The first 2 months, I'll lose about 14-16lbs easily... and then it gets TOUGH! and that's when I need to really dig in and make it a lifestyle change and routine change.

I've meal planned for the next 2 weeks and there's a lot of steamed veg, but I make my chicken / fish really interesting by marinating it in different things or putting different rubs on things.

freshstart4us · 03/01/2016 22:27

Good really sorry to hear about your prolapse. Fx doc visit gets you on the road to a swift resolution.

Mum am impressed you're doing marathons at 47, hot flushes be damned! Inspirational!

Crumb if I open the pack I inhale it in about 2 mins. 600+ calories, just like that. No self control here! I hate food waste but I had one yesterday and eating a bar a day (along with dark choc digestives in enormous quantities) got me where I am so when DH goes to bed it shall go in the bin and be done with it. I've never done that before, think it will be liberating!

Will make the maths change and work in lbs for consistency. So:

Fresh: Weight to lose 15 lb to lose. Weight lost 0. Weight to goal 15 lb.

Evening everyone

Good hope you get that sorted soon

I'm not going to weigh because it sends me loopy tbh, I start off with the best intentions of only doing once a week then in no time at all I'm hopping on the scales after every wee and getting in a sulk if I don't see what I want to Blush

I'll continue to chat, and post about my different goals though if that's okay

Report
SalaciousCrumb · 03/01/2016 22:34

We can all post our weight in the same list:

Crumb: Weight to lose: 50lb, Weight Loss: 0, Weight to goal: 50lb
Fluffy: Weight to lose: 70lb, Weight loss: 0, Weight to goal 70lb
Fresh: Weight to lose:15lb, Weight loss: 0, Weight to goal: 15lb

Then whoever posts next: copy and past all three, then add your own. And so on. it's ok to weigh in once per month Fluffy, just find the list, then adjust what's changed. That way we're all in the same list.

I'm open to suggestions, if anyone thinks of anything else.

Noel I was avoiding weighing before Christmas, seemed to work for a while as my belt was easier to do up! Then the mince pies etc appeared....

Absolutely fine, we are all doing this our way Smile I've had roast potatoes this evening and a small slither of cheesecake with cream, same as usual but not to excess!
