I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Morning Slinks Brew That'sNot I can't rouse myself to hit the streets running at the moment, it's frrreezzzing...if you have black ice your way I would avoid running. We have a treadmill at home, not as good as outside though, will be doing some of that today.

Blondes and Pistey hope rotten colds beat a retreat

ineed welcome, good luck with 5:2

Kim enjoy your meal, and cheesecake won't make any difference if it's once during week, I love cheesecake too, I've made Nigella's chocolate cheesecake before.

Error I'm doing a lot of thinking about resetting thinking about food too, and thinking about triggers that set me off overeating. Frame of mind, not just for diet.

My jeans need belt to stay up, weight goes off my waist first of all. Only problem is there's an overhang over my belt, but it will go!

GettinTrimmer · 19/01/2016 10:36

Morning Helena, short bursts of exercise seem to work for me too, I like Davina's 15 minute dvd. I'm off to google your book.

Error404usernamenotfound · 19/01/2016 10:56

I need a slap on the wrists please - I couldn't resist having a mid-week weigh in this morning, and have gone from 9st 4.6 last Friday to 9st 7 Shock I know it's just bloat, but it's panicked me, and I now have the urge to cut out all sorts of things to 'put it right', which never ends well.

Silly Error...

GettinTrimmer

I don't do short bursts of exercise, I like to go to gym classes and then for a swim to cool down. The "Lean in 15" book is recipes Smile

GettinTrimmer · 19/01/2016 12:06

I am reading the posts too quickly Helena, i can see now you did say its a cookbook!

MABS · 19/01/2016 14:58

Good theory Thatsnotmyhouse!

ineedamoreadultieradult · 19/01/2016 18:55

Well that went downhill quickly, today was a restricted day on 5:2 diet. Low fat yogurt for breakfast. 1/2 tin tuna for lunch. Then I got a promotion at work and DH picked me up from work with the kids and took me straight to an all you can eat world Buffet to celebrate!!! I definitely didn't eat as much as I usually would but I ate more than I should and the wrong kind of things as well. Still didn't drink though so at least dry January is still intact.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2016 19:21

cant you have 2 day tomorrow - ie just swap days about?

ive eaten readybrek today as thats all my throat could deal with - it used to be a B on sw but sadly isnt coz of the fibre .......

also down 1/2bottle of cough mixture that df/G got me, bless him - not sure what the cal, ories are of that Grin

and spent 8hrs in bed and dragged my blonde butt back to work, fed and put babies to bed and generally sleep till 7am so hoping for a peaceful night where i will just go to bed early and i get paid for this Wink

ThatsNotMyHouseItIsTooClean · 19/01/2016 22:04

A better day here.
B - 2 weetabix
L - moussaka & roast veg
S - breaded haddock & veg
Exercise - 30 day shred & 10 mins on bike

Ineed - congrats!
Blondes - you do sound rough. Hopefully you'll feel brighter tomorrow.

Kim82 · 19/01/2016 22:34

Totally pigged out at the restaurant tonight, buffalo chicken wings, steak and chips and peanut butter cheesecake with chocolate honeycomb ice cream. It was soooo worth it though! I'm stuffed! No alcohol though, I stuck with diet Pepsi so no extra calories there (looks desperately for a silver lining).

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 20/01/2016 02:59

I went for a run this morning! I'm cracking this exercise thing - it's stupid hot here at the moment and usually I would avoid exercise like the plague, but I'm getting into the habit if it kills me.

I'm really appreciating everyone who's talking about resetting habits and things. I had a revelation the other day when I was grumping about not having lost weight: this is how I am going to live from now on. If I lose weight in the meantime, that's great. If I don't, then I'll have to love how I look now. As long as I'm not putting weight on. Because if I "try harder", which just means restricting further, then I will eventually stop, and regain the weight, and I'm not living like that any more. So what I'm doing here, really, is finding a way to live that I can live with forever and which prioritises health and happiness over fear and avoidance. That means choosing healthy food because it makes me feel better, and going to bed earlier, and exercising regularly, and not worrying about a chocolate bar here and there but not eating just from boredom and anxiety either.

I'm not saying it's easy, but it's nice that there are people here who understand.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 20/01/2016 07:02

tortoise that is a fab way of looking at it! So yesterday's big tea doesn't seem to have hit the scales yet as this morning I'm 9st 3 for the first time in over 8 years (pre DC) I think it's wrong though or maybe it will take longer to see the effects. I'm doing a do over of my restricted day today so yogurt for breakfast, homemade mackerel pate for lunch and prawns and courgette 'pasta' for tea. Good luck with today everyone.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/01/2016 07:37

Glad you are feeling better lovely MABS xx

Tis too cold to run, I concur, my lungs go stiff and feel flat, let alone ice worries!

Afternoon all

I've wimped out of doing 30 day shred, but did exercise yesterday with Davina's 15 min aerobic fit and arms with weights - inside of legs, calves, arms are achey, I'm avoiding it today and will just pound treadmill for a while later on, back to it tomorrow. I did go at it hammer and tongs!

I am also hoping that standing in the cold for an hour will burn calories as watching dd's netball match!

piste great, well done on your 2lb, alcohol is supposed to be liquid sugar, but maybe as gin not so sweet that helped. No idea how it's made really though!

Mabs well done on your lb, look how much fat is lost.

Downstairs/Tortoise agree with resetting eating patterns, attitudes etc rather than diet, fed up with putting weight on again, there's got to be a way of cracking it. If I'm not being too nosey Tortoise, where are you? Running in heat is hard, at least in the cold have to move faster to keep warm!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2016 14:54

Still feeling very sorry for myself and tucked up in bed tho need to get up soon for work

I seem to be eating one meal a day at the moment - today's is beef casserole and veg
