I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

What I will say is the Hendricks and Gordons have gone, the Tanqueray is well underway and the Icelandic gin was so hideous we were leaving it until last Grin

I'm on the Gin Diet. It's going pretty well; so far I've lost two days... An oldie but a goodie that one Grin

MABS, glad you're feeling better, definitely take it easy for a bit though.

Blondes, glad you're still on the thread. Smile

Pistey, pass the gin, it's revision fuel, honest.

Welcome back Party. House renovation sounds stressful, I'm not surprised you took refuge in the biscuit tin. Well done on the weight loss though!

DD's getting better, no new spots in the last couple of days, so she might be back in nursery before the end of this week if we're lucky. One more exam tomorrow which I'm totally procrastinating over revision for by dicking about on mn, then I get a bit of a breather, at least study-wise, for a couple of weeks.

My diet over the weekend has been a bit rubbish, so I need to pull it together this week if I don't want to completely undo the first week's work Blush

ThatsNotMyHouseItIsTooClean · 18/01/2016 09:58

Damnation! 1lb on here. Not too much of a surprise really. Also feeling really wobbly of arse and lumpy of tummy. I must stick at it as I am getting very bored of this very limited range of clothes.

Kim82 · 18/01/2016 10:17

Just been for my weigh in and I've lost another 3.5lb so that's 11lb over two weeks. I'm amazed!

I'll catch up with the rest of the thread when I get home but from a quick glance I'm liking the sound of the gin diet...

Congratulations to all you losers - I always find once you've done the first couple of weeks, it actually gets easier as you start noticing differences that motivate you to continue.

DownstairsMixUp I think at the moment it's more 'ignorance' than will power! I couldn't bare to see how heavy I was on 1st January as I'd feel so fat / unattractive and generally feel incredibly embarrassed about how I put on so much weight... so I thought I'd just start at 'X' and then every month I'd be 'X-n' (n being the amount I've lost to date) Smile

GettinTrimmer I weigh in on 31st January.. Unfortunately I'm the type of person who gets totally obsessed with things and really gets upset if I've been really good and don't see a weight loss. I got to the point where I was weighing myself every single day and making myself miserable as I wasn't losing weight.... Fingers crossed I can lose more than the mystical number by then!

Blondes - I think just eating normally and taking care of yourself is a really great start. Putting yourself under too much pressure to lose weight when you're feeling so low seems kinda cruel. I hope you're doing OK today and it's nice to see you still on the thread.

I'm doing well at the moment, Porridge for breakfast and a banana as a snack. Tonight I'm going to be doing baked Turkey steak with steamed vegetables and tomorrow, I'll be making this in my slow cooker Grin

www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/scotchbroth_8116

I've changed the recipe a little bit, No celery (as it's minging) and no kale as that's just weird.. However have added lean lamb and new potatoes. This should last me a few days in the evening (I half the amount.. as my partner is doing some weird Atkins diet so we eat separately).

Nom.. Nom.. Nom... Smile

helenahandbag · 18/01/2016 12:36

DownstairsMixUp

No, we go to the one in Glasgow city centre.

I first went to Five Guys in New York so I was really excited when they came to the UK. Annoyed that a £20 order is $20 in the US though, it's expensive here.

ChristmasCabbage · 18/01/2016 12:40

A new week, looking forward to another pound off hopefully.

Here we go...

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 18/01/2016 12:42

Hi,

Sorry I went AWOL. Well done to all you losers!

It was my weigh in today and I've lost 3lb, so 4 in total in two weeks. Smile

Error404usernamenotfound · 18/01/2016 12:54

Downstairs, I'm not on any particular plan, as there is no set diet I would be happy to live on for the rest of my life. It's more about resetting how I think about food, ie eating only when hungry, not because I just fancy the taste of a chocolate bar. I'm cutting right down on sugar, and restricting saturated fats, mostly by trying to cook from scratch more often, also checking my portion sizes, as they are creeping up and almost match DH's.

Well done, Kim and Libraries; sympathies to Thatsnot. There will always be blips and slip ups during weightloss, but as long as you keep going you will get there. Just think about that lovely new wardrobe of slim clothes... I am so looking forward to buying new clothes when I get to goal weight! Grin

bowbear · 18/01/2016 13:17

Hope everyone's week is off to a good start. I went a little off the rails over the weekend so it's time to refocus and get back on the wagon.

Christmas - your dinners look lovely! I think I may be stealing some of those ideas.
x

GettinTrimmer · 18/01/2016 14:32

I have the gin and tonic diet joke, a plaque on my wall by the tumble drier! Pistey if you were blindfolded could you tell the difference between the different types of gins? Gordons tastes the same as Sainsbury's own to me. I'm sure that is sacrilege?!

Finger is Ok thanks that'snot no harm done, just swollen. Don't worry about pound, will happen. You're a runner too aren't you? No snow here, dd was not pleased and asked if we could move to Scotland.

Libraries well done! 3lb great loss.

Cabbage like the look of the salmon recipe. Nobody else eats fish in my house apart from the cats!

Fluffy agree it gets easier, my black work trousers are fitting me now, still some overhang on the waist, but so encouraging.

Kim well done on your 3.5 loss.

Blondes glad you're still with us.

I am cooking full fat macaroni cheese for dinner, will have a small portion with a big pile of salad, followed by fruit.

I had 2 failed attempts at losing weight last year, firstly the 5:2 diet which is really good if stick to it. I also did a 6 week personal training course, lifestyle change (didn't work at the time Blush) - firstly talked about changing mindset. I'm working on it, only managed it temporarily before, but this time hoping it will be different.

GettinTrimmer · 18/01/2016 14:35

that'snot just read that back, meant 'will happen' not gaining 1lb but we all have blips and you will lose Smile

TheVeryThing · 18/01/2016 16:02

Blondes, perhaps you you just need to focus on looking after yourself, eating well and exercising could be part of that but in a gentle way. Life is bloody unfair a times.

Well done to all the losers, kim that's amazing.

I've been really bad over the last few days and decided to postpone my weigh in until friday. Really need to get back on track this week.

My local running club are starting a couch to 5k-type programme next week so planning to sign up for that, and will carry on with the shred.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/01/2016 16:06

Thanks for all well wishes. I'm slowly pulling my Blonde squishy butt off the floor

well done kim and libraries and sorry for gain

Trying to be good ish

B fruit
L SW spag Bol with tons of veg
T chicken and veg

PartyCityGhoul · 18/01/2016 18:56

Wow, well done kim and libraries, great losses! Commiserations ThatsNot, horrible when you get a blip! I'm convinced though that when I'm losing i get 'flabbier' - I've got a theory that the fat gets looser and therefore wobblier when it's on the way out! I'm always sure I've gained before a larger loss in the following weeks, i feel bigger because it's not as firm.

Glad the little one is getting better error.

Today's been alright, had a handful of m&ms, the boss went out and got treats because it is Blue Monday (worst day of the year, 3 weeks after xmas, 4 weeks after Dec payday and a week before Jan payday) but had homemade veggie chilli for lunch, not massively hungry so might just have yogurt for dinner.

Shitty actual work day though, so might continue the gin diet when i get home. Sainsburys not-quite-value one does me just fine! Skimp on the gin, spend the difference on decent tonic in my book!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2016 06:32

Woken up with bubs cold. Throat feel like razor blades. Maybe be a soup day today - may also manage to lose weight this week .....

Every silver lining eh slinkies

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/01/2016 06:38

I never get lurgies normally and yet this year seems to be one after another, losing my resilience, currently a sore cough. Fuck off to it I say!

Hope you feel better soon B

Work day today, so just need to plan what I'm taking, weight still as it was yesterday, did wonder if it was a mad blip, but Gin Diet seems to have worked. At least for a weekend Grin

Fab loses going on this thread, let's stick together!

ineedamoreadultieradult · 19/01/2016 06:42

Hi bit late to the party but can I join in? Started at 9st 9 on Jan 1st and want to be 8st some thing by Feb 13th for a wedding. I lost over a stone last Jan but got stuck at 9st 4 nothing I did could get me below that. I'm doing 5:2 and some dumbell exercises and dry January and today I'm back to 9st 4 hopefully I can break that barrier this time.

MABS · 19/01/2016 08:04

feel a lot better, no loss despite barely eating and living on hot water and lemon :( out for breakfast now tho..oops x

PartyCityGhoul · 19/01/2016 08:30

Morning all, how are we all doing?

Welcome ineed - i feel your pain! I was stuck at 9 4 for about 4 years pushing half heartedly towards 8 something then went up to over 10! its so frustrating when you hit a plateau, especially when it's a low one so everyone is going 'but you're fine'!

Glad you're feeling better Mabs - I'm sure the lemon ginger diets will make you drop a bit when you're well again. Sorry to blondes and Pistey, and everyone else feeling poorly. I had a stinking cold all December (cleared up on xmas day!), and so sympathy ate - took me from 9 10 to 10 2 in 3 weeks Angry and i still felt like crap.

Got leftover shepherds pie for lunch, and will try make sure dinner is lower cal than shepherds pie!

Today will be a good day. I am determined.

ThatsNotMyHouseItIsTooClean · 19/01/2016 08:41

Today is a new day... which is handy as I swapped exercise for cake & chocolate last night. I feel vile today.
Party I have random theories about weight loss too. I would love to be able to prove one of them scientifically & go "told you so". Of course, if Pistey could prove the gin diet we would all live happily ever after!
MABS - unless I have D&V for several days, I never lose weight when ill. It is so frustrating. I think it is because I come from working peasant stock & my ancestors had to survive long, hard winters with very little food (see what I mean about mad theories!).
Blondes - can you hibernate today?
Gettin and other runners - are you going out running at the moment? I am worried about slipping on ice. Is that a genuine concern or am I just using it as an excuse?

Kim82 · 19/01/2016 09:07

Morning everyone, hope everyone is okay. I've woken up bloody starving this morning but have nothing in for breakfast (apart from cereal that I don't like) so in going to have to do the weekly shop whilst hungry. This could be dangerous! I also have to be super good today as dh and I are going out for a 3 course meal tonight for his birthday (which is tomorrow). All bets are off when it comes to cheesecake and I know I won't be able to resist! Oh well, I haven't had a cheat day yet so it's definitely time for one.

GBBO15 · 19/01/2016 09:43

Morning all.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Smile. Went a bit 'off plan' this weekend which was fine but continued with the relaxed attitude yesterday too! Back on wagon now though - courgetti with ricotta and lemon for tea tonight. Hope I haven't gained too much but too afraid to weight myself. Proper WI Friday so we'll see then...

helenahandbag · 19/01/2016 10:26

Morning all! I'm now 13st 10.2 which means that all of my cheat day bloat plus an extra 0.3lb are gone Grin

I have a massive delivery of lean meat from MuscleFood coming this morning to my freezer will be chock a block and there is no excuse not to cook lovely meals. My Body Coach "Lean in 15" book has been used three times since I bought it last week and I plan to make several more recipes to avoid boredom. I'm the world's worst for sticking to the same meal plan and then ordering pizza because I'm bored of it Blush
