I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Hi can I join please?
I was 12 st 7 after Christmas but after a week of being very strict with 1200 cals per day using Mfp was 12st 2 when weighed in on Friday. Not been too good over the weekend so not weighing again just yet!
Would be happy to lose slowly over next few months to get to my goal weight of 10 and a half stone.
I have tried 5:2 but really couldn't hack work and kids on fast days. Low carbing I found too restrictive as I need to cook meals the whole family can eat. So trying 1200 per day. I am finding there is lots of flexibility to change small things e.g. going from full fat to skim milk makes a difference when you drink 6 or seven cups of tea a day!
I also have a fit bit and just trying to keep up to 10000 per day on that with variabl success. Days I walk the dog and walk the kids to school I easily make 10000, while days Dh does those , and I am sitting at work all day, I get to less than 5000 steps. I will need to build in extra walks etc maybe at lunch time..
I think it would help to have a group to check in with. I have gained about 1st in the past year without even realising it , clothes a bit tighter but still a size 14 - or I may be a 16 in denial. I think it's probably metabolism slowing down as I am 47 :( But I don't want to continue getting heavier so plan to make small but long term changes.
So weight to lose 28lb , weight lost so far 5 lb
Here's hoping we all keep moving in the right direction!

Welcome to the thread, tiredwitless, and well done on your loss so far!

I've added you to the list; just copy-paste-update when you weigh in. Smile

cleanmachine · 10/01/2016 11:42

Welcome tired. Sounds like you've made good changes. I do 5 2 but it definitely plays havoc with my energy levels and makes me feel low sometimes.

Fluffy glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.

I got a fitbit today and I had it on within 5 minutes and clicked 4k steps dancing around the room! It's a miracle. Just hope I can keep at it.

I agree with others, weekends are my downfall. I also feel so so so bloated after carbs so deffo need to look at that too.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/01/2016 12:00

welcome tired - you and I are on 1200 a day then, I'm using MyFitnessPal

Party was boozy, didn't really eat much although there was loads around, just had some sushi, but only a couple. Had too much fizzy tho, thats for sure

Error - you are a Woolly Hugger, huzzah!

Gym in a bit, just waiting for head to clear.

Hugs evvvvveryone and shuffles off

MABS · 10/01/2016 12:20

Error404usernamenotfound · 10/01/2016 12:41

Grin pistey I'm a bit crap though as I haven't sent my squares in yet, but will try to make some more to make up for it...

Anyway, I'm off to do some exam revision, so if you see me here loads this afternoon, please shout 'OI ERROR! GET SOME BLOODY WORK DONE!! at me. Thanks!

DownstairsMixUp

I've bought his Lean in 15 book and made my first recipe from it yesterday. I've got a list of things I want to make, it's a really good book.

I'm making the cheesy chorizo chicken this week too, got my ingredients in the fridge Grin

I think his plan is basically low carb but you can have carbs directly after your workout. I'm not doing his plan though, just using the recipe book for meal inspiration and doing classes at the gym/yoga/lots of walking.

I'm hopping on the scales sporadically, I've lost a stone since mid November, which is good considering how much I ate over Christmas and new year!

I'm having a higher calorie day today, around 1800kcal. Still healthy food but more of it, as I find it shakes up my weight loss after a couple of weeks on 1300/1400.

unimaginativename13 · 10/01/2016 15:22

5lb down from Monday to Friday, I'm doing slim fast twice a day, combined with low carb snaking and dinner.

So celery and cream cheese etc

I'll do this to shed about 1st 11lbs them move onto food again. I find Atkins good to do or I may or the lean in 15 book?

helenahandbag · 10/01/2016 15:27

Atkins is great but it totally messed me up for losing weight any other way. I'm now trying to lose weight by normal calorie counting but my weight is bouncing around the same couple of pounds since coming off low carbing. I can always drop a stone in two weeks with Atkins but it's not sustainable for me.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/01/2016 16:34

You heard from her yet lovely MABS ?

Catching up again. Jut back from the gym. Does anyone not use the calories they've earnt from the gym? MFP gives me approx 450 after a session, just wondering whether I should ignore that? It allows me 1200 as a base line.

Crack on the Error Grin Thanks

helenahandbag · 10/01/2016 16:46

1200 is really low, if you burn 450kcal and eat 1200 you're only eating 750 net calories. I eat 1400ish on non gym days and 1600ish when training.

More people have lost! That's totally awesome Grin

I've had a really good weekend and am staying on track - Porridge for this morning followed by salmon sashimi and rice for lunch. I then saw a friend and we walked into town.. looking at 'S Health' on my phone, that's 8,105 steps... which isn't too bad for a Sunday!

Tonight I'm roasting a chicken and will have it with lots of root vegetables. Then I'll use some of the leftover chicken for a nice salad with lentils tomorrow and will use the carcus for stock.... as I'm going to make a really nice sweet potato, cauliflower, spinach and red lentil dahl (New Covent Garden Soup recipe) for Tuesday, which will keep me for the next few days!

Hope everyone is staying motivated for next week! Smile

MABS · 10/01/2016 18:53

she is back at uni after a seven hour drive. I have fizz open :)

Kim82 · 10/01/2016 19:40

Good evening everyone. My day's eating didn't go as planned as we had a bit of a family crisis. I had a banana and 3 biscuits throughout the day and then roast chicken with potatoes, veg and gravy for tea.

I would give anything for some crisps and chocolate right now but I have used up all my syns on the biscuits so will have to make do with some fruit or other such uninteresting food...

Oh well, it'll be worth it at weigh in tomorrow - at least I hope it will!

Error404usernamenotfound · 10/01/2016 21:42

Yes Pistey, right away Pistey Grin

Was disorganised with my food today as didn't plan for being out all day, so could have done better, but not terrible.

Kim, I hope everything's OK.

prettybird · 10/01/2016 22:20

Fried pork medallions and al dente Brussels sprouts in butter was lovely this evening. Dh had a glass of wine but I was virtuous and just had a glass of water Grin

madein1995 · 10/01/2016 22:25

I'm trying to lose weight by myself, with a combination of healthy eating and exercise. Weighing scales will arrive Wednesday so can start properly then. Today has been -

B - Coffee, milk, sweetener
L - Leftover pasta bake, grated cheese, salad. Homemade raspberry and banana smoothie, made with milk and a yogurt.
T - Chicken stir fry. 5 mint matchmakers and 3 chocolate covered brazils (Not the best, but fancied something sweet).

thewavesofthesea · 10/01/2016 22:35

4lb down in my first week Grin will add to list when not on my phone (unless someone else can when they update themselves!)
