I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Morning all, how are we doing?

Pistey, Buttwing and Nargles, really well done Smile

Good luck for your interview GBBO, glad baby picked a good night for good sleep!

You guys with babies, i am in awe ! I struggle to stay on track just from normal life 'i work too many hours and am a bit bored' tiredness. Massive respect for doing this with a tiny person waking you up a night!

Yesterday went pretty well, Salt beef sandwich from tesco (389 c) - not ideal but was too hungry for browsing! Small portion of homemade chilli for dinner - extra lean beef, added veg and lentils with wild rice - and a tsp of sour cream, tbsp salsa which wasn't strictly necessary but was tasty! Probably about 400 c total. Small piece of cake too, about 200 c. Must get rid of that cake!

I have found that I'm not being that tempted by the chocolate in the office this week, which is very unusual Grin. I'm trying to only eat in 'meals' - probably bullshit but I've got a theory about insulin spikes from eating, and not burning stores as fat if there is insulin around or something - short version no more snacking for me!

I've still not started my yoga plan yet though! Need to push through my ' I'm too tired' bullshit and get on.

helenahandbag · 07/01/2016 09:41

Morning all! I made it to Body Pump last night and I'm a bit tender today but not like last time, where I couldn't move for four days. I was expecting the same today as I've not been in a couple of months but so far I'm okay. I kept my weights pretty light throughout so I think that helped.

Food has been spot on since I started, I'm still planning and tracking with the Nutracheck app to keep myself in line. I have no idea what a normal portion looks like so can't be left to my own devices Blush

Error404usernamenotfound · 07/01/2016 09:48

Good morning everyone!
Congrats on the losses, Butt, Nargles, and Pistey. My wi is tomorrow, although I have only really been trying properly to eat healthily for two days, so not expecting much! I weighed myself last Friday, and was sort-of attempting to turn down at least some of the cake and chocolate on offer after that, so we'll see if it's been enough...

Yesterday was going well, until DH decided to do pizza and potato wedges for dinner The pizza had lots of veg on it, but still not great. Having said that, I'm not intending to cut food like that out entirely, just not eat it as often, so it's sort-of within the plan, kind of. I did refuse chocolate when DH was tucking in after dinner though, and had an apple as an afternoon snack instead of a pastry or chocolate bar.

I walk about 4 miles a day as part of my daily routine, and don't have much time for exercise apart from that, but might try yoga again - I did it before and really enjoyed it, so might look up that youtube one, whose name I've forgotten but I'll find on the thread somewhere Smile

Sorry, that was a weirdly long post, how is everyone else's week going?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/01/2016 10:34

Morning chums :) Brew

Great losses there, fablarse!

Blimey would love to get to goal by Half Term! Going skiing, sinking feeling my stuff will not fit Sad

Error If you are walking 4 miles a day, you are doing a lot more than many.

Keen to start yoga/pilates here, had surgery on both shoulders over last 18 months, had dreadful frozen shoulder, but am now able to consider something like that. At my gym there is a beginners class on a Friday, you can book 7 days in advance, but you need to book in almost as soon as they open at 6.30am, and can I be arsed to do that? Wish there was a course. There are but SW London prices = ££££££££££££££££££ and a few more £££££

Will see tomorrow.

GBBo - hope the interview goes really well Thanks

Back from the gym, contemplating nosh, need to start on 2L of water too!

prettybird · 07/01/2016 11:13

Where are you going Pistey?

We'll either be going w/c 14 Feb if grumpy teenager deigns to come with us or w/c 21 Feb.

Meribel probably although there's a possibility that if we go 21 Feb, it'll be to La Tania.

Morning hope everyone is feeling positive! So far so good....im drinking a lot of water and brushing my teeth more to stave off the hunger!! I will break the habit of mindless eating, I will!!

I'm out for a meal this eve so trying to be extra good today to save up my calories...any suggestions of best option on the cote menu gratefully received!

Error404usernamenotfound · 07/01/2016 11:35

Hi Downstairs, I am doing a similar thing, in terms of not doing any particular eating plan. My weight goal is similar to yours too; I'm about 9 1/2 stone, trying to get to 8 stone (I'm 5' 3" with a small bone structure, so that's healthy for me). I've got cardio fairly well sorted, but want to do some kind of strength training which I'm still sorting out.

If you want to, you can add your details to the list a few posts above; just copy and paste, and add your own stats at the bottom.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/01/2016 11:42

Welcome Downstairs

We are going to Whistler Pretty can't bloomin wait!

Kim82 · 07/01/2016 12:01

Hi everyone. Today has been going well so far, I had 2 weetabix and a banana for breakfast and I've spent the morning scrubbing my sister's (grim) house clean so that's my exercise for the day. I did come home and grab a packet of Weight Watches crisps but they're only 5 syns so I'll incorporate it into my syns for the day. For dinner I'll have fruit and natural yoghurt again and tea will be jacket potato, tuna and salad I think. That leaves me with plenty daily syns to have some chocolate tonight when the kids are in bed.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2016 12:06

Morning all - well done on losses :)

I wi tomorrow. Think several of us do .........

As the old slinkies on here know I'm a tortoise. Slow and steady so will be hopefull for 2lbs Tom and will probably go back to 1 a week. Tho sometimes better to go for over all loss over a month

Kim - have made your potato onion bacon thing - Tis cooking in the oven now while I have nails done .......

Will be ready about 1 ish

Error404usernamenotfound · 07/01/2016 13:05

Another tortoise here, Blondes - slow and steady is the best way! I'm expecting no more than 1lb a week, sometimes just 1/2lb. I'm giving myself till the end of May to reach my goal, which is 21 weeks for 15lb loss.

Must make Kim's bacony-oniony-potato thing at some point, would be lush with some green veg on the side and a glass of red wine

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2016 13:45

My scales doesn't have 1/2lb so some weeks I sts but may have lost 1/2 iyswim

That's why over a month it's almost better

Kim - your dh is a genius !!! Just eaten it as did DF who normally turns his nose up at any of my SW receipes

Amazing how lovely potatoes and onions are - plus did bacon all fat cut off and eggs on top - all free on SW :)

May add cut up ham next time

The 'anything goes' 2016 Weight Loss thread.
Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2016 13:46

Slow and steady means should stay off .......

Hmmmmm why am I back on this thread again? Piste trimmer mabs prettybird

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2016 13:47

B eggs on toast b fruit
L Kim's dh potato hash and fruit
T chicken pasta and veg

Kim82 · 07/01/2016 13:52

It is so nice isn't it Blondes? Really simple but so tasty!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2016 13:54

Really nice. Gonna be a once a week meal - possibly more if need 14 lunch /dinner

Just need to be organised and leave enough time to cook it Grin

GettinTrimmer · 07/01/2016 14:42

That does look lovely, potatoes and onions go well together, I love Spanish omelette too.

Blondes I've been asking myself same question about why we are here again. I think with me it's been no exercise and have a job sitting down. Also snacking between meals.

Bowbear I'd forgotten about the cleaning the teeth trick! Also eating from a smaller plate.

Error404usernamenotfound · 07/01/2016 14:54

Slightly off topic - re the potato dish, does it need any liquid adding to it before putting it in the oven? I'd have thought it would want some oil or stock or something to stop it drying out?

Kim82 · 07/01/2016 15:10

Nope, no water or stock, just put it in on it's own. The bacon and onions keep it from drying out.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/01/2016 15:11

Slow and steady for weight loss, but far too easy to have too many calories and bung it all back on.

Last time I got too low, lost too much, I didn't know how to stop, and my problem was maintaining. I could do the weight loss, and I could easily put it back on.

Weight loss in a way is the easy part. It's changing eating habits for life that is the hard part

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/01/2016 15:14

I was rowing and loving it, doing boxercise, running, then my shoulders went, and now it seems like such an uphill thing to get back to, so lack of exercise here, couldn't bear walking at times. But have been back in the gym since second op last August

Oh and for sure I ate too much and had too much Wine

That's why I'm back Blush

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/01/2016 15:16

I read something about how it is important to be kind to yourself when trying to lose weight, and if you are too hard/critical, especially when you slip up, as we all will, you are less likely to succeed overall.

So we must be KIND to ourselves!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                              <img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Grin" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/grin-D7Eg_B6y.png">
KeepsAwayTheNargles · 07/01/2016 15:17

You're right there, Piste... Years off far too much pizza and chocolate is hard to break :(

I must say though that 5:2 is great for adjusting appetite! Last night I stoped after 2.5 slices of pizza because I was stuffed. Normally I'd have at least 4 Blush

Normal day food-wise here, trying not to go mental.
B - banana and blueberry porridge, 1 slice toast with peanut butter
L - cheese and onion toasty
S - some Malteasers Blush
D - homemade chicken curry (the Mumsnet Easy Chicken Curry - lush and really quite low cal!)

May have some Wine this evening... So tired today and DS hasn't napped so no yoga until later when it may be too late

Error404usernamenotfound · 07/01/2016 15:25

Thanks Kim!

Maintaining is definitely the most difficult thing; I think that we are still biologically cavepeople whose bodies haven't adjusted to 21st century Western food abundance. Therefore, a primal part of our brain will always want that lovely high-calorie food, because it's high energy and doesn't understand that it no longer needs to store excess calories because famine is not really a risk now. Also, the emotional side of eating is ridiculously strong, as evidenced just now, by me, when on receiving a phone call saying that I hadn't got the job I really wanted, that would have fitted PERFECTLY around my other commitments, I immediately went to the vending machine and hoovered up a Double Decker. hmmpph Sad
