Sorry if stepping on toes. But couldn't see another thread. Anybody want to join me? I guess the idea is that some weeks you loose a bit more and some weeks you gain but aiming for 1lb a week sounds good to me.

I'm keeping my toe dipped into this thread because I want the inspiration, but getting my eating in hand has been a slow process, there is progress but also some hiccups. I ate a chocolate bar, never usually eat crap chocolate, and in my commitment to eating home cooked food I bought two sandwiches at lunchtime from a place where I wouldn't normally eat. This is all during work time, where I'm normally in control! I'm glad I'm not doing a weekly weigh in as I'm still committed but it's taking me longer to get going!

Now, I've not had my, usually weekly, curry since December and we'd planned to go out tonight as a couple for a curry. OH has said he's not that bothered and could stay in as he's eaten out a lot this week. Curries are so high in calories. I've been looking forward to it but wondering if I should forego it. I'll be weighing in Feb 1st and although I'm impressed with the losses here i'm only hoping for 1-2lbs a week. I have lovely steaks and chicken in the freezer and tones of fresh veg. I should probably stay in!

IAmNotDarling · 16/01/2016 20:29

No weightloss since my initial 1lb. Using mfp set to 1200 cal and upped my activity. This week I've ran, walked and cycled more tha usual and the scales are telling me I've put on 3lbs.

I could cry.

NantucketNightbird · 16/01/2016 20:41

Oh no Iam, don't get down about it. This is the exact reason I got rid of my scales and now weigh down boots once a week. Seriously it could show me having a 8lb gain when the previous morning I had lost 1lb. If I moved the scales a few inches well it would add a random 3 stone on! You are doing amazing with all the exercise far better than me I've done none

I am, could it be muscles? I one dots the 30 day shred. I didn't lose any weight but my body shape changed and I lost fat but gained muscle. That's a good thing! (But it's also the reason I have for not wanting to up my exercise levels to lose weight! )

d270r0 · 17/01/2016 11:32

Hi IAmNotDarling, the gain probably is due to the muscles if you have done more exercise than normal, don't let it set you back as the fat turning into muscles is definitely a positive thing. Also, when you weigh and what you are wearing makes a big difference too, I only weigh in the morning before breakfast and make sure I am always wearing the same thing (pyjamas!). Even still, I often find some days I have put weight on and then the next day it is much lower again, I think partly down to water retention, how much I ate the night before, etc. It sounds like you have been doing really well, keep on and I'm sure next week will be better.

IAmNotDarling · 17/01/2016 12:39

Thanks all, today it's up to 7lb!!!

I'm going to swap to just drinking water to see if that helps.

Rinceoir · 17/01/2016 13:21

Since Monday is weigh in day I'm holding off until morning to weigh again. IAmNot I suggest you try a different scales. You may find yours is inaccurate.

fieldfare · 17/01/2016 18:57

Iamnot, don't be disheartened. Did you happen to take your measurements before starting?
We've got two sets of scales, one is linked to our fitbits and can have a variance of half a stone, they're really irritating me at the moment. The other set, depending on where they're stood can have 2-3lb variance.

NantucketNightbird · 18/01/2016 07:35

Iam hope you are feeling better, I applaud you for all the exercise. The closest I have got to exercise is looking at treadmills in argos. I'm thinking of getting a mini fitness trampette, does anyone have one?
I'm very nervous for weigh in now but I think I've hit my 1lb and I will be happy with that. I've had no cheese since I started this and would usually eat 200g cheddar a day Blush nor any real butter! But clover lighter than light is awful.
Good luck to all weighing today.

7lb down now since I started which surprises me as I had a bad weekend and ate a lot of chocolate yesterday when feeling down about my hacking cough and cold I have had since day 1. I'm feeling inspired to try the exercise ball again!

NantucketNightbird · 18/01/2016 10:23

I'm 4lb down (pic included for proof). I'm over the moon. Brilliant fossie that's super. I'm really boosted for this week now.

iamnot i know that feeling. It is incredibly disheartening. Do your scales show extra stuff like body fat/muscle/body water? Could be that you have retained more water this week. Try to ignore and keep going - you're working really hard!
I too was a little disappointed this week - only lost 0.6lb - hardly worth recording!! I've been doing WW - only used 10 of my weeklies and was within my dailies yday. Also exercise levels have increased due to ensuring i hit my 10K fitbit steps a day.
Well done to those with good losses, and to the rest of us - here's hoping for a better week next week!!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 18/01/2016 13:24

I forgot to weigh myself this morning, will do it tomorrow. Had a shitty week , as birth partner for a friend and have spent days in hospital eating from vending machines.

Back on it today......spinach plast for breakfast, sweet potato soup for lunch. Am no carbing/low carbing for two weeks.

fieldfare · 18/01/2016 17:00

I'd lost another lb this morning, that takes me to 6 1/2 lb total (3kg). Really pleased with that as had a more relaxed weekend eating wise than planned. Another 9kg to go to my mini goal by mid April, my birthday.

Rinceoir · 18/01/2016 17:23

I'm down 3.5kg (7lbs) in total now, so I'm delighted. Expect it all to slow down now, maybe stall for a week or so. On the upside my sugar cravings are completely disappating, and I'm less hungry. Just need to keep momentum going now for another 50weeks...

NantucketNightbird · 18/01/2016 17:50

I'm the same rinceoir I know that the weightloss is going to slow considerably but I'm happy with this kick start.
So I've bought a trampette! Very excited to set it up tomorrow

I'd put on 1lb when I weighed in this morning :(. I'm being really sensible with meals but can't stop myself snacking especially at the weekend, it's as though I have to rebel against myself!

I've reset MFP to losing 1lb a week and that has given me a more realistic daily intake, hoping that will work instead of trying to stick to a tiny amount, feeling annoyed when I go over and thinking to hell with it!

I am rubbish at this!

IAmNotDarling · 18/01/2016 23:18

Well done Nan! I do think it's water. Have fancy scales but haven't figured out how to use them - must read the instructions!

Upthenoonoo · 19/01/2016 06:42

Just marking my place. This time last year I had lost 2 stone getting down to 8st 13lbs, I'm now back up to 10st 2lbs, I feel far too heavy at 5ft 1in. I'm back to mfp tracking and looking to lose just 1lb per week. Here we go again!

NantucketNightbird · 19/01/2016 11:22

Wow up I would love to be in the 8's. Are you following any sort of plan?
Had an awful night my youngest coughed and when he wasn't coughing one of the cats was pestering me. My shoulder is hurting and I would love a homemade quorn and leek pie in a thick white sauce with lots of pastry, but I'm spurred on after yesterday's loss. So I'm going to have my new favourite of whole meal pitta with falafel.
The trampette is lots of fun but by gosh does it make your legs ache.

How is everyone today? What's on the menu I need some inspiration Smile

Upthenoonoo · 20/01/2016 06:25

Nantucket no my really I just cut out the crap and by that I mean eating far too much high fat foods, chocolate etc. I try and run when I can so that helped. It's amazing how quickly it's gone back on!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 20/01/2016 06:29

Yesterday I had a spinach smoothie for breakfast.

Mushroom omlette for lunch.

Baked trout with a big salad for dinner.

Couple of babybels.

fieldfare · 20/01/2016 06:31

Good work on the trampette Nan!

I went out last night and had the most delicious Thai meal with friends, I didn't worry about calories, just didn't eat any carbs. Chicken satay and then pork, aubergine and chilli with a side order of garlic vegetables.
I cooked for Dd and Dh before I went out though and made them a veg stir fry, butternut squash noodles (pre done from sainsburys - genius!) and did turkey for Dh and tofu for Dd.

Dh even came to kettlebell class with me yesterday which was fun! 10k on the bike and a swim today as I'm a bit achey.

d270r0 · 20/01/2016 13:55

Mmmm that thai meal sounds amazing.
Well I didn't weigh myself on Monday or Tuesday as I had work- always a mad rush in the mornings- so weighed myself today and have lost 1lb, which I'm happy with. As that brings my total to 8lb loss altogether this year. I'm already feeling better about myself, slimmer and with more energy.
Sticking to diet mostly (had Indian takeaway last week but instead of the creamy curry and peshwari with rice, side dishes etc. I normally have, I had a dry tandoori and chapati with loads of salad instead. Still more calories than I'd like but much better.)

NantucketNightbird · 20/01/2016 19:34

Still going strong! I'm surprising myself but I feel different this time, every other time I've seen the diet as a short term solution to get the weight off and stuff my face. Now I'm realising my portion sizes need to change forever and this needs to be a change for life and I don't even miss cheese right now!
