Hi, have got decidedly porky over the past few years.
I feel tired and lethargic, and none of my clothes look good anymore.
I also need to lose weight for health reasons and increase my (currently woeful) level of exercise.

I want to follow a simple and 'do-able' eating plan that is fairly simple and that I will be able to sustain ie hoping to lose 0.5 kg each week.

I'm planning to follow the no 'S' "diet":

book here

A summary of the basic rules is:

no snacks
no sweets (it's an American book so that covers puddings as well as biscuits and confectionary)
no seconds

except on days that start with 's' ie the weekend, and 'special' days ie birthdays and big holidays such as Christmas.

I've got the book so can answer further questions but that is basically it!

I'm going to be using MFP to log calories and I have also found the free NHS weight loss plan (includes exercise) helpful too

see here

I am planning to post my weight here Blush every Sunday too (but that is not obligatory of course).

The other reason for posting on here is that I don't want to bore my family and friends to death about it in rl!! But it would be nice to have some companions along the way Smile.

Anyone want to join in?

Going pretty well so far:
B - coconut yogurt
L - salad with 2 boiled eggs
S - small bag of nuts

Just got home & did level 3 of "ripped in 30" (next in series after 30 day shred). Now just need to stick to the plan of lamb steaks, veg and yogurt for dinner and an early night, then I can go and polish my halo Wink

Slimmingcrackers · 24/02/2016 11:44

Well done Ellen sounds like you are back on track!

I've been struggling this week (sorry to raise yet another boring health issue but have had a migraine, and I have to keep eating to stop myself from puking). which I know sounds like another excuse doesn't it Grin? Better today though so cutting right back down again.

eltsihT that's so hard about your mil - you and your dh must be going through such stress atm - look after yourselves x

breward · 24/02/2016 21:13

Another one struggling here! I have completely lost momentum.

The staffroom chart of shame is not looking good!

DD is still vegetarian but is making some weird concoptions!!

Glad everyone else is going in the right direction. Sorry to hear about your MIL, eltsihT. Sad

Ellentheegret · 25/02/2016 06:37

Was back on track with until Tuesday, then worked a 7am - 11pm shift, got very stressed out and some bugger bought a big box of biscuits for the office. Arg! Excuses excuses here too, I know Sad I can't let I go on, the next week or so will continue to be stressful and if I keep turning to snacking whenever I feel I can't cope I'll be the size of a house pretty soon Sad.

Glad you're feeling a bit better SC

Breward - come on, we can do this! Let's have a good day today and see how much better we feel tomorrow

Slimmingcrackers · 25/02/2016 07:27

Also had an "encounter" with a pkt of mini shortbread biscuits which happened to be passing by Blush

Determined to do better today! Going to make a vat of healthy soup to start!

Come on everyone - we can do it!!!

breward · 25/02/2016 21:26

My birthday today. DC made me the most amazing cake and a birthday tea... although i had eaten at lunch time.

OK the no S diet starts again tomorrow! We can do it!

Slimmingcrackers · 26/02/2016 13:50

Many (belated!) happy returns for yesterday Breward! That definitely counts as an 'S' day!

eltsihT · 26/02/2016 17:26

Oh happy birthday breward!

I have been doing well this week.

But think I might crack tonight. There are Jaffa cakes and oreos in the cupboard as we are having friends round tomorrow night for board games. But DH is going to the hospital to see his mum before dinner and I am not sure I will last that long.

eltsihT · 26/02/2016 23:25

I made myself some popcorn, and managed to hold out till dh got home. Quite proud of myself.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

eltsihT · 28/02/2016 08:22

62kg today down from 62.2 kg last week. I think I really need to no s all 7 days or do something else as my 60kg goal seems so far away atm

Hope everyone else has had a good week with whatever diet they are doing

grumpysquash3 · 28/02/2016 12:00

I seem to be back where I was three weeks ago, weight wise :( even though the last two weigh ins were quite good. Hoping its mainly a random fluctuation.....& trying to keep an eye on the big picture. My 65kg target also seems quite far away, another 3-4kg to go.

I might post my chart again at the end of March, which will be Easter weekend and also 6 months since I joined this group.

Happy birthday Breward! Was it a significant birthday or just a regular one? It was mine this week too (ignoring it as it makes me feel old)

Waves to everyone else. How are you all?

Slimmingcrackers · 28/02/2016 13:38

Well I have had a total fail this week Sad Put on one kilo Shock

Back up to 85.2 kg Sad Blush Sad

It appears I can't even sustain a diet for three weeks continuously Blush

Totally my own fault. Hampered also by very bad back. Excuses excuses. Really pissed off with myself. I wasn't doing a lot of cooking or shopping because I can't stand for long periods of time and dh not exactly cooperative when it comes to dieting (although to be fair he's been cooking things dd will eat, plus he's had to do loads of extra things because I'm out of action so he's very busy); so I've just been eating what was put on my plate. Could have halved portions or done something differently though. V disappointed with myself.

Definitely not giving up though.

Waves to everyone else!

Slimmingcrackers · 29/02/2016 08:39

Sorry for whinging post yesterday!

Have made healthy soup and am starting again today!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Dogadviceneeded · 01/03/2016 08:15

Very belated birthday breward!

Well done eltsihT! Out of interest, what board games did you play? We have done a lot of gaming this past week - played Talisman (80s classic) at the local pub games night, then Agricola over the weekend (dp thrashed me Angry)

Grumpy - 6 months!!!

SC, sorry to hear things have been rough for you. I'm the same with the three week limit to a good run of the diet, it sucks Sad. Can you provide your dh with some easy, child friendly and diet friendly recipes? I guess if it was that easy though you would have done it! Anyhow, hope you feel better soon.

I had an OK weekend and an OK day yesterday. Seem to have fallen off the wagon of hard core dieting though, as work has just taken up too much time and "head space". Hmm.

Slimmingcrackers · 01/03/2016 09:27

Thank you dogadvice (think I have worked out who you are by process of elimination!!)

Sorry you are finding it tough going too!

I am trying to gain a little control over the situation by menu planning and ordering food on line. Rather frustrating as there is the most fabulous Middle Eastern shop 5 mins or so away with incredible fruit and veg and pulses, which I like to choose myself; fresh food ordered on line just isn't as good but needs must atm!

Hope you and others on here who have stressful jobs have a slightly easier week.

Ellentheegret · 01/03/2016 11:35

Ha - I am such an idiot Blush

Dp and I are hoping to adopt a rescue dog soon Smile we've been practising with "borrow my my doggy" which has been really nice.

Slimmingcrackers · 01/03/2016 11:39

Ellen Grin Grin

We adopted a dog (privately, not through a rescue) last Easter so if you need any advice (not that I am any expert) don't hesitate to pm me! It was difficult to begin with, and furry one has had a few unexpected health probs, and getting the feeding right has been tricky, but he is so much more relaxed now one year on and overall it's been a fantastic experience. Furry one is very attached to my dh - they gaze in to one another's eyes of an evening - I am quite Envy Grin.

eltsihT · 01/03/2016 18:21

We're were playing archipelago. Which was great.

I am not having a good week this week. Dh opened a packet of crisps left by visitors and I had to help him finish them.

Today I am in a foul mood and have ordered dh to bring home a large bar of chocolate hopefully it will help and not make me feel worse for cheating.

Getting a dog sounds great. We borrowed my parents dog for a week a few weeks ago and I discover I am not ready to own a dog.

Slimmingcrackers · 04/03/2016 14:37

Oh dear, I am doing woefully on the eating front. I really do not deserve to be posting here.

Sorry you are having a bad week too eltsihT

How is everyone else doing?

eltsihT · 06/03/2016 07:12

Well my week has not gone well I have ended up with a heavy cold so have been going to bed with the kids so not eating dinner.

62.0kg last week 61.4kg this week

Slimmingcrackers · 06/03/2016 13:45

eltsihT sorry to hear you have been ill, but good that it has resulted in a good chunk of weight loss! Well done!!

I am floundering and ashamed of myself really. No self discipline.

Weighing in at 84.7 kg; so virtually the same as last week. Actually surprised I haven't put weight on because I have been stuffing myself on occasion. Only good thing was making a huge vat of healthy soup.

On the more positive front: my back is much better today (walking a lot yesterday which helps) so hopefully I can be more active this week.

Another positive (have to grab on to the tiny things as I am doing so badly overall!) my healthy meal regime action plan will be swinging in to action this week, so bio veg panier and on-line shop arriving Tues. Should hopefully be easier to avoid straying when all the meals are planned.

How is everyone else doing?

eltsihT · 10/03/2016 08:05

So I ordered a dress this morning in a size 8 (butterfly one attached), it was in the sale and the only size available. I am really nervous about it fitting as I have a dress from the same company in a size 12 which was tight in October - see picture of me and dh at a ceilidh.

Fingers crossed I have lost enough weight for it to fit or I will have some serious dieting to do for May 14th when we have a wedding to attend.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

eltsihT · 13/03/2016 08:06

61.4kg last week 61.2kg this week.
And my dress fits. It is a little tight but if I can actually loose this last kilo it should fit beautifully by 14th of May when this wedding is.

I am still finding it hard to say no to snacking but am trying really hard to be good. I am also trying to stick with the sometimes on s days rather than always having pudding, which I suppose is why I am going down even if just by little bits

grumpysquash3 · 13/03/2016 10:30

Hi everyone,
eltsihT both those dresses are amazing! Which shop are they from?

I seem to have plateaued in a big way. I have weighed 10 stone 11 (68.6kg) plus or minus a pound of so for about the last month. I have had a bit of mother's day chocolate this last week, but aside from that I haven't really cheated.

Having said that, it is exactly a stone less than when I joined, and I am pleased about that!

Big waves to everyone. Keep up with the updates....

eltsihT · 13/03/2016 13:19

Hey grumpy, I feel like my weight has plateaued too, just loosing 100g a week. But I realised at least it is still going down if very slowly. A stone is a great loss. Hope yours keeps going down too.

Both dresses are jolie moi from house of Fraser they are really lovely fabrics and are lined too. I am a bit sad the green one is too big as the pattern is lovely.
