OK, I know this isn't massive in the big scheme of things but all my adult life I have weighed about 8 1/2 stone. I'm 5' 6" and have always been a size 8.

I'm 49 now and in the last year I've put on over a stone. I am now 9st 10 and I feel shit! I don't think my eating habits have changed, I think I'm just getting older. I feel really lethargic and like I can't even be bothered to go to the gym. My last swim cost me about £200 it's so long since I went before that.

I am going back to work tomorrow when I will obviously have loads more time than in the holiday as routine will be restored Grin so I am hoping to stop eating crap snacks.

I don't want to go on a diet as I eat pretty healthily anyway. I don't have a sweet tooth which is good. My absolute achilles heel is savoury stuff like crisps and wine. I have had them every night this holiday (I'm a teacher so it's not just a week or so).

I don't want to look drawn and older, but I would like to be 9 stone again by Christmas. I think sensible eating, cutting out wine Shock and crisps (apart from Friday nights) should do the trick.

Anyone out there who feel like me? I know there are people who will think 9.10 is not a lot but for me it feels uncomfortable.

I'm not going to weigh for at least 2 weeks. I rarely weigh anyway, I only did it because my clothes and bra feel tight. I just want to feel better and more like me again.

I may need some encouragement to stay off the wine Blush

Think it's impossible to be objective about your own body and we are taught to critique celeb's bodies absolutely mercilessly so we have all the ammunition to turn on ourselves ... But, try and feel confident that you look great - because you really do! (tries to swallow some of own medicine!)

Hippychickster · 07/11/2014 07:37

Thanks running. I've decided to send them back though as I'm not 100% sure and it's a lot of money to be not sure about. I've ordered some fake leather ones from Next instead for about a quarter of the price Grin

Anyway it's Friday!!!!! We have completed another week! One week nearer our goal. We have only 6 weeks left to go till we are gorgeous(er) and more confident.

Out for dinner tonight so wine and YOLO food!!! Enjoy the weekend girls - we all deserve it. Wine Wine Thanks Smile Wine

2.8 lbs down this week!! On the down side shoulder and Achilles now sore...makes exercise a bit tricky.

Hippychickster · 07/11/2014 17:35

Brilliant brainwashed!!! That's great! Nearly albs in a week is fantastic

Am stuffed though. Running tricky due to Achilles and have been banned from rowing and crossfit by physio due to shoulder problem. Feel like I'm just going to sit on the sofa and get fat Sad

runningLou · 08/11/2014 06:30

brainwashed what have you been eating / not eating to achieve that?? Am in awe! Totally sabotaged myself with a curry last night after a stressful Friday and as a result am 2 lbs heavier this morning than I was last Saturday - absolutely HATE MYSELF for doing this. I'd been pretty good all week with healthy eating, been to gym / a class every day. Now am heavier than before due to one stupid takeaway. Yesterday morning I was roughly 1.5 lbs down on last week (daily weighing - I know, I know ...) so it just shows what one slip-up can do.
Got a volunteering job with free cake followed by a bonfire party with associated goodies to get through today too. No way I can do it :(

Eastpoint · 08/11/2014 07:05

The no-longer teenage body really seems to suffer from injuries running. Poor you. I'm very impressed by your loss. I've got heavier since I was banned from walking etc but I have a stronger core now & less pain. Getting there

brainwashed · 08/11/2014 09:32

Have been eating normally and plenty of it, just using mfp to log food and exercise. The amount of exercise I was doing meant I could eat approaching 2000 cals most days. Managed to include half a bottle of wine 3 times in the week as well as a sneaky choc ice one day. This week is going to be very different with no crossfit, no yoga and limited running. I am going to be a grumpy cow Angry

Hi. Smile I'm trying to lose body fat. Have lost 6lbs recently and am determined to keep it up. I find it much harder as you get older though. I can maintain with out much problem but want to lose two stone. I'm eating whatever I want but doing it mindfullyWink

Millli · 09/11/2014 11:30

Oooooo thought I had better add, I don't want to lose two stone for Christmas but another half stone would be good .

Not2bObvious · 09/11/2014 14:14

Back from my trip away (ok back 3 days actually) I managed to keep relatively on track and feel a teeny bit leaner but had a big night out last night and while not that hungover, vv munchy'ish. Back I track tomorrow. Which will mean JM in the morning and a decent effort to hit 10,000 steps each day, stick to 3 meals and 1600 max cals a day. I reckon if I can keep that up for the next 6 week b4 Xmas I'll be comfortably back in my size 12 - minus the muffin top!
Hippy I think you look really well in the leathers but as you said if they are pricey and not quite right, find a pair you like better.

Not2bObvious · 09/11/2014 14:17

Just read your post runninglou Don't despair, it's only a bit of food bloat, step away from the scales, don't be disheartened. Might just need a good...ahem...poo Blush

Hippychickster · 11/11/2014 07:34

Morning girls!! I have been off here for a few days as I've had a shocker of a time. Drank so much at the weekend and then went out for a meal last night as it was the anniversary of when my sister died. I did drive though so I wouldn't drink. I haven't been for a run since last Thursday because of one thing or another.

Anyway - a new week (I know it's Tuesday!). I went to a running shop on Saturday and had a gait analysis and bought some new trainers so back on it today. All my clothes still fit nicely so I don't think I've done too much damage (running - stop weighing yourself every day!!!! A couple of pounds will be gone by the end of the week). I can't bear the thought of being on a 'diet' so I'm actually OK with having a few days off every now and then. It is real life after all.

Just remember why we started this. Christmas is around the corner, we need to finish strong!!!!

Not doing well. Motivation gone.

Hippychickster · 12/11/2014 18:14

Oh no brainwashed!!!! That is not good! What do you need to motivate yourself? What usually works? You have done so so well recently, it would be a shame to give up now. In fact, you are not allowed! We have 5 and a bit weeks till Christmas - think how proud you will be if you don't give in. Why not have a few days off and then back on it? I don't think it's good to be too strict all the time - no one can keep that up all the time. We are all doing so well!

Hippychickster · 12/11/2014 18:22

How are you doing brainwashed?

OP posts:
Hippychickster · 14/11/2014 07:45

Friday!!!! How are we all doing? I'm only a pound down today, but after the weekend I had last week I'm surprised I lost anything! That means I only need to lose one more pound till I reach my target! And I thought it would take me till Christmas. Might go for a few extra now. As you do.

I'm very pleased with my running. At the beginning of this I could barely run for 1 minute without getting out of breath, but on Wednesday I ran 8.5km so I'm well chuffed. Really enjoying it.

5 more weeks after this. We can lose another couple of pounds before then. Think how great we will all feel if we stick at it. Come on girls - let's finish the week strong!!!!

0.4lb down this week despite eating crap and doing next to no exercise..go figure.
Still feeling rubbish, history of depression and wondering if things are heading in that direction again. DH not really up for talking to me about it..

Eastpoint · 14/11/2014 10:57

Hippychick, you've done so well - from being a non-runner to a definitive runner is a great achievement. I'm holding steady & hoping I'll be back dog walking next week, I've just done 3x10 mins on different cardio machines & will wait & see what happens painwise.

Brainwashed - well done for being .4lb down - being down after a hard week is brilliant - right direction. ?? to you both! (Calorie free Smile).

Hippychickster · 15/11/2014 17:40

Thanks East. I've just run 11.38km and prouder than a proud thing with a very special reason to be proud!!

Haha! Now I have to google those!

Morning all. I haven't been posting due to one thing or another. I haven't been too bad on the food side but I did some damage to my foot, seriously bad blister that has worn away half my foot- boak - and it's all I could do to normal walking about. I've kinda employed a 16:8 approach to the last week or so. I've no idea what the scales might say but I don't feel any heavier. Or, to be fair, any lighterSad I know they reckon keeping your food intake down is the main thing but I just feel more successful if I get a decent bit of cardio in. Anyway, with luck my foot will be fully healed in another few days so I'll persevere with the food and then start back with exercise once I can put my runners back on and walk without a pronounced limp. I'm like the hunchback of notre Dame for the last 7 days! 5 weeks or so to go, surely I can drop half a stoneHmm
