OK, I know this isn't massive in the big scheme of things but all my adult life I have weighed about 8 1/2 stone. I'm 5' 6" and have always been a size 8.

I'm 49 now and in the last year I've put on over a stone. I am now 9st 10 and I feel shit! I don't think my eating habits have changed, I think I'm just getting older. I feel really lethargic and like I can't even be bothered to go to the gym. My last swim cost me about £200 it's so long since I went before that.

I am going back to work tomorrow when I will obviously have loads more time than in the holiday as routine will be restored Grin so I am hoping to stop eating crap snacks.

I don't want to go on a diet as I eat pretty healthily anyway. I don't have a sweet tooth which is good. My absolute achilles heel is savoury stuff like crisps and wine. I have had them every night this holiday (I'm a teacher so it's not just a week or so).

I don't want to look drawn and older, but I would like to be 9 stone again by Christmas. I think sensible eating, cutting out wine Shock and crisps (apart from Friday nights) should do the trick.

Anyone out there who feel like me? I know there are people who will think 9.10 is not a lot but for me it feels uncomfortable.

I'm not going to weigh for at least 2 weeks. I rarely weigh anyway, I only did it because my clothes and bra feel tight. I just want to feel better and more like me again.

I may need some encouragement to stay off the wine Blush

Oh dear, I've had a bad morning. Flooded the bed, had to have a shower at 6am and took the dogs out. Have eaten 5 or 6 enormous Montezuma chocolate buttons (does high quality chocolate count as being better healthwise?) lying on the sofa. Ok must try harder the rest of the day. I blame the children for opening the buttons last night and not finishing them.

Secretblackandmidnighthag · 31/08/2014 07:34

I need to loose a similar amount I think. I'm scared to get on the scales! Does bfing keep weight on you? I've never had any bother losing weight before but since DS I'm stuck with 8lbs of pudge. He's 20 months so I'm not bf-ing very much, just morning and night

Eastpoint · 31/08/2014 07:52

I found weight dropped off me when I stopped BF. I presume my body wanted to keep my fat levels up so I could continue to feed DCs. I didn't get my periods again for quite a while after any of them but I am a heavy frame/low body fat type (fat percentage around 12% when I was 8 ¾ stone in my late 20s).

MegBusset · 31/08/2014 09:42

Good day yesterday and got up and went for a 5k run this morning Grin it hurt though as I've not been in weeks!

I find it really hard not to weigh every day. I think I'm worried that if I don't weigh, the pounds will creep on without me noticing!

MegBusset · 31/08/2014 09:43

Secret, my body hung onto weight while I was BFing too.

Hippychickster · 31/08/2014 10:23

Definitely don't worry about the chocolate buttons. Food eaten lying down (or standing up, off someone else's plate or in the car) doesn't count as it has zero calories. In my book anyway. But then I like to think the acid in wine fizzes away all the fat you've eaten!
I can't comment on the bf as I lost loads WHILE bf and it was 20 years ago so doesn't really count now.
I've done level 3 of the 30 day shred this morning and about to cycle to my mum's for coffee. I have had poached egg on toast with loads of butter for breakfast though. And I'm having wine this afternoon.
It's the weekend!

Keep strong everyone!

Secret - 8lbs is not much to lose at all! Loads of people say they lose weight when they stop bf so I'm sure you will be fine.

This thread is really keeping me going. It's far worse having to admit stuff here than on mfp! I've even admitted the wine before I've drunk it!

We are going to rock September!

Now I have to stay really good as I'm going to a v smart 50th on Friday night & I want to wear a Dolce & Gabbana dress I bought at the end of the sales last summer & haven't worn yet (my DH didn't have a 50th although I'd already bought the dress Shock). Then there's an ever fancier 50th the weekend of 21(?) October - printed Perspex invitations!

Hippychickster · 31/08/2014 20:28

We ARE going to rock September! I want to see your D&G dress! You will look beautiful I'm sure. Why didn't your DH have a 50th party? You need to wear that dress!

Had 4 glasses of wine this afternoon. Not bad considering I could have massively gone for it and I stopped at 4!! Apart from a few doritos all good food today.

Hi ladies - do you all log your food etc on MFP? I want to lose 7lbs (preferably by mid October!) put it is soo hard. I hate being hungry! I do run three times a week and walk the dog but it makes me hungry. All advice welcome!

Hippychickster · 31/08/2014 22:30

Hi Rassy, I did used to log everything on MFP but I just CBA now. I don't want to go on a 'diet' I just want to cut down a bit and stop drinking. None of us on here need to lose lots so you are in the right place!

I have found just in the last few days that it has really helped coming on here and saying if I've had a good day or not. I know MFP gives you loads of detail etc but I know if I've eaten crap or not!

I like this. I like being accountable to other people even if I don't know them! I don't want to come on here and admit I've been rubbish (although I know I will be every now and then, and that's fine). I am not going to weigh until half term. That gives me 7 weeks and I want at least 7lbs off by then!

Night all. New day and month tomorrow. We are strong!!!!

What does CBA mean??

Hippychickster · 01/09/2014 09:15

Can't be arsed! Sorry, I'm a teacher and end up copying what the kids say!

So far so good apart from scales which weighed heavy, but we had pasta last night & I always retain a lot of water if we have a carb based meal (we didn't have enough food in the house for there to be any alternative).

Good so far today - dog walked, went to physio by bike & did errands by bike. Haven't eaten anything bad - will try and do a whole healthy day...

MegBusset · 01/09/2014 13:43

Good day yesterday. 5k run, porridge for breakfast, tuna nicoise for lunch, veg stew for dinner. No bread, sugar or alcohol - even dodged ice cream at the beach!

My legs hurt today though...

MegBusset · 01/09/2014 13:48

Re: MFP. I used it for quite a while and it was useful to make me realise which were the healthy, and less healthy meals I regularly ate (not always the ones you'd think!).

But eventually I think it was counterproductive, I didn't want to become all obsessive over calories and sometimes I found myself eating for the sake of it just because MFP told me I should! Anyway I also CBA entering everything I eat into an app for the rest of my life. I know what I need to do to stay slim (avoid bread/sugar/booze, run a couple of times a week).

Hippychickster · 01/09/2014 17:13

Meg - exactly!!

Well two days of eating good food, no wine or snacks but no exercise. I'm just knackered when I get home from school. I need to get back into it. My friend is joining my gym at the weekend so we can inspire each other!!

Hippychickster · 02/09/2014 17:59

OK I felt guilty so I've just done the shred. Grin

MegBusset · 02/09/2014 18:11

I struggle to fit in exercise too, though that will get easier when the kids are back at school. I work three days a week but will be going up to five days soon so that will be tricky. I went through a phase of getting up at 6am to shred but found it too tiring!

Eastpoint · 03/09/2014 06:10

Bit of a disaster over the last few days, back in London but have had too much work which together with the children going back to school has made life a bit busy, I've dog walked but last night we went to a really good restaurant with friends... Ok it's a new day today, I'm dog walking & will try & plan a healthy meal for us all this evening. Last child goes back to school tomorrow.
