OK, I know this isn't massive in the big scheme of things but all my adult life I have weighed about 8 1/2 stone. I'm 5' 6" and have always been a size 8.

I'm 49 now and in the last year I've put on over a stone. I am now 9st 10 and I feel shit! I don't think my eating habits have changed, I think I'm just getting older. I feel really lethargic and like I can't even be bothered to go to the gym. My last swim cost me about £200 it's so long since I went before that.

I am going back to work tomorrow when I will obviously have loads more time than in the holiday as routine will be restored Grin so I am hoping to stop eating crap snacks.

I don't want to go on a diet as I eat pretty healthily anyway. I don't have a sweet tooth which is good. My absolute achilles heel is savoury stuff like crisps and wine. I have had them every night this holiday (I'm a teacher so it's not just a week or so).

I don't want to look drawn and older, but I would like to be 9 stone again by Christmas. I think sensible eating, cutting out wine Shock and crisps (apart from Friday nights) should do the trick.

Anyone out there who feel like me? I know there are people who will think 9.10 is not a lot but for me it feels uncomfortable.

I'm not going to weigh for at least 2 weeks. I rarely weigh anyway, I only did it because my clothes and bra feel tight. I just want to feel better and more like me again.

I may need some encouragement to stay off the wine Blush

I have nothing planned today except shopping. It's a rest day so I'm not going running or doing pilates, which feels a bit odd. I've now completed my C25K and I'm going to go for 10K now!

I did a cross country race this morning. The exercise will be more than balanced out by the rack of lamb, red wine and peach crumble I have planned for tonight Grin

Hippychickster · 02/11/2014 17:32

Haha!! I do that too! Exercise to burn off calories I haven't even eaten yet!! Enjoy it!!!

This is what I am finding so hard - if I pigged out before I'd just go for a longer run & now I can't. Go for it ladies!

runningLou · 02/11/2014 19:15

Rest day here too. Well done to all on the running - oooh I miss it!!! Feels good to have a rest day though after my outdoor metafit yesterday. Sun was shining but ground was so muddy!!
Really, really hoping I can keep up daily exercise classes when I'm back at work. Have booked spinning for tomorrow evening at 7:30, and I will try and stick to that if tomorrow isn't too horrendous.

brainwashed · 02/11/2014 19:30

Know what you mean hippychickster but I'd have needed to run a marathon to cancel out today's intake, not just a muddy 4 miles!! Shock
Booking a class is a great start runningLou

runningLou · 02/11/2014 20:01

Oh thank you brainwashed that's made me feel really positive! I normally book 3x midweek classes and make it to 2 ... am determined this will be the week of 3!! DH is out one night so that will have to be a rest day.

Hippychickster · 03/11/2014 07:16

It's a new week!! Come on girls!! We can do this! It's only 7 weeks till Christmas. We're so close.

Right!! Enough is enough!!!

Eastpoint · 03/11/2014 12:12

43 mins on the recline bike followed by Pilates - hoping that my pain levels stay low.

Hippychickster · 03/11/2014 17:46

Yay!! Just been for a run. We have started the week well!!!

Fingers crossed East.

Well done all! Terrible, stressful day at work, which sent me diving for the biscuit tin almost as soon as I had 5 mins to myself in the staff room :( Feel really yucky about that. Must really try and remember that stress is one thing and hunger another, and that a cup of tea and a biscuit or 3 will not leave me feeling better in the long run!!
I am sooooo rubbish at this low carb, high protein eating plan!!!
But, I did have a small dinner, and then go to spinning tonight after DC were in bed! Really pleased I made the class. Have booked on for tomorrow at 5:30pm too so fingers crossed DH can make it home from work in time for me to get there ...

brainwashed · 03/11/2014 22:07

Glad you made your class runningLou Smile

Eastpoint · 03/11/2014 22:39

Well done running that sounds like a good start to the week

runningLou · 04/11/2014 10:42

Thank you! It's past 10:30 and no biscuits so far today Grin I have come to work armed with an apple, an orange, a little pot of greek yogurt and a portion of nuts and seeds as healthy snacks!!

Hippychickster · 04/11/2014 18:49

Well my leather jeans arrived today. Ooh they are a bit tight! I might keep them a week and see how they feel. I think leather will give a bit so I don't really want to get bigger ones. They do look good though!

OP posts:
runningLou · 04/11/2014 22:02

Tight or not am just utterly in awe of your body confidence at being able to rock leather jeans!!! Amazing!!!
Got to spinning tonight at 5:30pm. Yay! So, tomorrow, spinning (local gym 5-min cycle away) at 6:30pm or circuits (fitness centre 30-min cycle away) at 7:00pm?? Have booked both, now need to choose!

Hippychickster · 05/11/2014 07:27

Well done running! I think you should go to circuits tomorrow, as then you get the cycling and the circuits.

I'm not sure about the trousers now. I'm certainly not body confident and now I'm having a crisis. I don't want to look like an old bag trying to look young. I might put a photo on and see what people think - although I have a very warped sense of what I look like and it's really about how they feel. I'm thinking they will soften up as I wear them, but at the moment they feel a bit stiff. Really unsure.

brainwashed · 05/11/2014 08:41

Go for the circuits runningLou..good to have a different sort of workout.
hippychickster yep put a photo up, though if you think they look good they probably do, our body confidence is rarely warped in that direction!
I did circuits last night, yoga this morning.

Hippychickster · 05/11/2014 08:51

Ok here goes. Be brutal! Age and body wise!!

They do look good Smile Maybe a little tight at the waist band just now but given that we are on a weight loss mission , nothing that a pound or two wouldn't completely fix. You have a lovely figure so should show it off!

Eastpoint · 05/11/2014 13:36

I think they look good and assume that you were wearing them without boots/shoes with heels - I think with going out footwear & top they'll be fab. From what I understand leather trousers just get bigger so you really do need the tighest one you can get into so the seat doesn't become ridiculous.

Hippychickster · 05/11/2014 19:25

Thanks both! I'm still thinking about it! Feeling quite chunky today so not sure about them, but I am a bit pre menstrual so next week they may feel better.

Went for a run tonight so feeling good about that.

OP posts:
runningLou · 05/11/2014 22:05

If I saw you in those IRL I would think they fitted, and that you looked great wearing them - age wouldn't cross my mind! You have fantastic legs (lucky you - envious as I have thunder thighs!!) so next size up for waist would end up way too baggy on the legs anyway ...

Just back from circuits and consumed a massive salad including eggs, avocado and walnuts but at least it's all healthy!

Hippychickster · 06/11/2014 07:49

Thanks running. I am so hard on myself. I look at those pictures and only see massive thighs, even though I KNOW if the trousers are an 8 they can't be. My waist looks chunky too, and I actually don't have a thick waist so that's not helping!!

What irritates me is that I also know that other people don't look at anyone in such a critical way. It's years of being told by my Dad that I was fat as a teenager - it's given me such bad body dysmorphia - but that'a a whole other thread!!
