OK, I know this isn't massive in the big scheme of things but all my adult life I have weighed about 8 1/2 stone. I'm 5' 6" and have always been a size 8.

I'm 49 now and in the last year I've put on over a stone. I am now 9st 10 and I feel shit! I don't think my eating habits have changed, I think I'm just getting older. I feel really lethargic and like I can't even be bothered to go to the gym. My last swim cost me about £200 it's so long since I went before that.

I am going back to work tomorrow when I will obviously have loads more time than in the holiday as routine will be restored Grin so I am hoping to stop eating crap snacks.

I don't want to go on a diet as I eat pretty healthily anyway. I don't have a sweet tooth which is good. My absolute achilles heel is savoury stuff like crisps and wine. I have had them every night this holiday (I'm a teacher so it's not just a week or so).

I don't want to look drawn and older, but I would like to be 9 stone again by Christmas. I think sensible eating, cutting out wine Shock and crisps (apart from Friday nights) should do the trick.

Anyone out there who feel like me? I know there are people who will think 9.10 is not a lot but for me it feels uncomfortable.

I'm not going to weigh for at least 2 weeks. I rarely weigh anyway, I only did it because my clothes and bra feel tight. I just want to feel better and more like me again.

I may need some encouragement to stay off the wine Blush

Tummy bug has boasted me to a Lose of 6lb. I now need to be very careful so that I can maintain that. I'm now 9.6.
I realise I do want to be closer to 9 stone.
I'm a bit worried about maintain my new weight. Are you managing to maintain your weight lose?

brainwashed · 01/12/2014 08:48

Started the week with a crossfit session at 7am outside in the dark Shock

Hippychickster · 02/12/2014 07:41

Aaarrgghhh!!! Crossfit at 7am in the dark! Hard core!

fidelma tummy bug induced weight loss is great! There's always an upside to feeling ill. I have maintained my loss as although I overindulge at the weekend, I am very strict during the week and I run at least 3 times a week. It works for me. I've got some old trousers on today which are loose, which makes me feel great as I couldn't wear them a few months ago.

YAY!!!!! I've done it!!! I've broken the 9 stone barrier. I am 8st 12lbs this morning and I feel great!!

I've been so pissed off with my weight gain over the last year and now I feel back to normal. I really feel like this thread has helped so much, I'm not sure if I would have kept on track if I hadn't had to report in. Also, I know I wouldn't have kept up with my running if I hadn't had somewhere to keep talking about it (family and friends get bored so quickly!).

I'm going to keep posting on here to keep in check as I don't want it to slide up again, but thanks all of you for the support over the last few months.xx

Well done hippychickster that's fantastic. I had an x-Ray yesterday as a preliminary investigation and am hoping I'll be back to normal levels of activity soon...

brainwashed · 05/12/2014 08:31

Well done hippy. Great to reach a goal isn't it. I'm back to 8.5 stone now, not sure where my final goal weight is but its not far off from where I am now. Having my running gait analysed this morning. Might have to buy some new trainers Grin

Hippychickster · 08/12/2014 07:34

Good morning all! Well done brainwashed - that's the problem though don't you think? You get to where you said and then just think 'Oh just a few more pounds.' I am doing it now. I've got below where I wanted to be and now I'm thinking another few pounds would be easy. Always my problem, I don't know how to stop.

Eastpoint fingers crossed it all sorts itself out and you can resume normal activity soon.

Well we have 2 weeks left till we break up and I'm definitely going to carry on as much as I can. It's my 50th next Monday and I'm having a party on Saturday so I know the weekend and Monday will be written off food and wine wise, but I'm OK with that. As long as I carry on running I think I should be fine. I'm going to to keep posting on here for a while to keep myself on track as I don't want to slip back into old ways. I feel like we've all worked so hard to get to here, I don't want to put any weight back on. Here's to another week of being strong!

brainwashed · 15/12/2014 14:13

Hope you had a great party hippy Grin

Hippychickster · 19/12/2014 07:50

I had a fab party thanks!! And a brilliant birthday.

Well girls, we have done it!! Even after a week of complete over indulgence (my birthday and DD's birthday) I am still 8.12. I am so proud that we kept it up and have stayed on here since August. I feel so so much better than I did then. All my clothes fit me, my boobs have stopped feeling so bloated and huge and I'm a runner now!

We are going skiing tomorrow for a week so will no doubt be drinking and eating loads, but that's OK. I'm going to sign off here now for a while, but after Christmas I'm coming back on and going to keep track of myself for a bit longer. I think I'd like to be 8.7 again, but I'll see how it goes. 8.12 is good enough.

When I first started, the most motivational thing anyone said was 'In three months, you will be glad you started today.' How right they were!!

Well done all of us. Hope you are all feeling as good as me. Have a fantastic Christmas. See you in the New Year Xmas Smile Flowers Xmas Smile Flowers

Well done Hippychickster you did it! I hope you have good snow, we're off after Christmas (too many complaints from dcs about missing Christmas in England) & I hope my hip will be able to cope. It is doing better, I have been doing some classes which concentrate on small muscles and my assumption is once I return to normal levels of activity weight will drop off... DH has managed to get under his target 5K time and weighs the same as he did at 30 (he's over 50 now) - I'll have to try & do the same.

Congratulations again Hippychickster

Hippychickster · 19/12/2014 20:36

Thanks East! I think we should all feel proud! I'll be back after christmas for a few more pounds.

Have a lovely Christmas and enjoy your skiing x

Congratulations
This is a good thread for me. I too used to be 8.7 at 5ft 5 but my weight has crept up to 9 then 9.11. Too much for me. I have been slumming for about 5 weeks. I have list 6 lb so I'm now 9.5 which is much better.
However I realise I do want to be 8 stone.
It's hard over Christmas as there is so much about, lots if dinners etc. Going to try very hard to lose a lb or 2 but if not maintaining 9.5 over Christmas would be great.
I'm going to try and do an hours exercise 6 days a week.
Anyone also on the same path?

Hippychickster · 21/12/2014 07:34

I will stay on here to keep track so am definitely with you fidelma. I am in Austria at the moment on holiday and the food is amazing so may put on a couple of pounds which I will have to get rid of after Christmas.
Be careful not to lose too much though. 8 stone is very low for 5ft 5. I don't know how old you are but as you get older I think you have to chose between your arse and your face and if you are too thin it can make you look older. I'll be very happy at 8 and a half stone. Shall we go for that?

OP posts:
fidelma · 21/12/2014 22:08

Typo I will never be 8 stone! 9 is my ultimate goal lol!

fidelma · 21/12/2014 22:11

I'm 40 with 4 children. Just re read my post lots of typos sorry.
I think you will be very thin at 8.7
Your weight sounds perfect now.

brainwashed · 22/12/2014 15:11

Seem to be staying at 8.5 ...happy with that for now anyway :-)

Hippychickster · 29/12/2014 14:05

Well, Christmas is done and I'm looking forward to New Year now. We were away for Christmas and I ate and drank for England! I weighed myself yesterday and I've put on 1 pound. I can live with that!!! I also went for a run yesterday which I was a bit worried about as I've not been for over a week, but it was fine and I felt great after.

I'm going to be back on here keeping track after New Year. I like coming on to see how everyone is doing. Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas.

Great to hear from you Hippychickster, we are skiing now & the good news is that my hip doesn't hurt. I'm so relieved as I was worried I wouldn't be able to ski at all. I hope that its recovery will continue & I can shift some kilos.

fidelma · 31/12/2014 09:02

I've managed to keep my weight at 9.6 over Christmas. I have exercised everyday and thrown out a lot of cake. It's not been easy. However I'm happy to start the new year at 9.6.

Hippychickster · 03/01/2015 13:05

Hi again all!! Well we are now well and truly into the New Year. I've decided I'm going to try and do the Nike half marathon training. It's a 12 week programme of running. You have one day a week when you do something else (so I will ride my bike to work) and a rest day. I'm going to start on Monday when I go back to school.

I'm feeling a bit sluggish at the moment after the new year excesses. I went for a run this morning and feel better, but really need to get back into it in a big way. I don't want all my hard work to go to waste!

Good news about your hip East . Hope you enjoyed skiing. We were a bit short on snow for the first half of the week, but had a good load about 2 days before we left which was good. Seems like a long time ago now!

Fidelma I think maintaining over Christmas is brilliant!! It's so easy to let it all go, but we all worked so hard we deserve to feel good and keep feeling good.

Brainwashed I think you are almost too thin for this thread now!!!! It's always good to make yourself check in though! I'm aiming for being able to run a half marathon, and a couple more pounds off. I've got 12 weeks to do it. Next goal for looking good is Ibiza in July.

Lets all keep on track here so we can encourage each other to stay motivated. None of us need to lose (much, if any) weight so we can afford to have the odd slip up and excessive weekend!

Happy New Year to you all!!! Flowers

Just back from skiing & a sneaky trip to the gym. I nipped in & did 30 mins on a cross trainer & then some weights. I swapped to dd1's snowboard one morning so she could ski a little & fell a few times, inevitably on the bad hip. It's gone back to being sore but I hope that the Pilates exercises combined with those from my Physio will let me get on with exercising again. After stopping pretty much everything cardio in September & not recovering I am hoping that it will all get better with my self-prescribed Pilates sessions & a specialist stretch class. I have to do some cardio & cut down my calories or I'll have to join a different thread.

fidelma · 04/01/2015 22:13

Great to hear everyone has had a great Christmas and that we have all been fairly careful over the holidays. I was very keen to not waste all my hard work.
I've got my fitness pall which is keeping me focused, especially after tea when I have used up my calories.
I'm going to continue with my fast up hill dog walking. I also need to fit in some Pilates (ex Pilates teacher!) I find it hard to fit it in.
What exercise do you all manage to fit in during the week?
Holiday in 5 weeks today.
I'm hoping to lose between 3-5lb before then.
Good to have support on here.

brainwashed · 12/01/2015 16:58

I am still here..only a couple of pounds up over Christmas and new year. Am able to run a bit more now which is good :-)

Eastpoint · 12/01/2015 18:28

Still heavy but ran a slow 5k this morning & then did some elliptical cross trainer & stationary bike. Pilates after lunch. Weight is steady but I am doing more cardio since we came back from skiing. I am using MFP but not brilliantly. I will lose weight - just when?

Hippychickster · 19/01/2015 07:46

Good morning fellow dieters!! Or rather healthy eaters.

Well, I have just recovered from the worst flu virus ever! I had to have nearly a week off work, which meant I couldn't run. It's really put me off my stride as I'd just started the half marathon training. I'm planning to go tonight after work although I still have a cough.

My weight seems to have remained the same. I've not weighed myself but all my clothes still feel the same so that's a relief.

I've been a bit more relaxed about stuff recently, drinking wine, not coming on here etc, so I'm going to make a massive effort to be back on track fully. There's 4 weeks till half term - I'm mega going for it till then at least.

Keep strong everyone.
