Anyone up for a post-natal weight loss support thread?

DC3 is now 6 weeks and I am 15kg heavier than I want to be (about 10kg higher than pre-pregnancy, when I was already a bit over my 'ideal' weight). For my health, and to get into my old clothes, I want to lose at least 10kg, preferably 15kg.

My plan is to vaguely follow Slimming World principles and aim to average at least 70,000 steps a week (10,000 a day, in line with recommendations). I also want to do it healthily and whilst avoiding emotional angst (no beating myself up that I'm naughty if one day I eat chocolate fudge cake, just careful eating overall).

Anyone want to join me? I've been promised one buddy already on another thread.

Thanks baking. A stone to go now until I get to 9st3, but immediate goal is to be down to 9st10 by the end of August when we go on holiday. Super fit and slim SIL is coming with us, so I want to be feeling good about myself. It's not a bikini holiday, but will be in shorts all week...
Well done master. Eating out without gaining is an achievement in itself! Enjoy your visitors.

MasterFlea · 24/07/2014 09:51

I have to thank my 2.5 yo who wanted to be carried on my back for the long walks. Pushing the pram too sometimes. Makes a good workout.

Best of luck with the exams Somany. What are you studying?

Somanyillustrations · 24/07/2014 10:19

Ah yes, the babywearing workout Smile I'm neglecting the slings this week as it's just too hot.

I'm a first year diagnostic radiography student. Started uni last September when I was 10 weeks pregnant! Can't wait to get exams over with, but baby is having a growth spurt and 3year old is struggling to sleep in this heat. Much Brew needed today...

bakingtins · 26/07/2014 20:46

DH is undermining my attempts to lose weight by going shopping and filling the house with crap. He bought me a whole box of Drumstick lollies, which are my favourites but not what I need right now, plus loads of crisps, beer, custard slices....
I had my postnatal check this week and all fine but have been told not to run for at least another couple of months. There don't seem to be any postnatal classes near me, can anyone recommend a postnatal exercise DVD? Hate feeling flabby and sweaty in this hot weather!

bakingtins · 29/07/2014 09:02

No change this week, but not surprised. It was our wedding anniversary, slap up meal and too much vino then relaxed the 'rules' for the rest of the week. Never mind, back on the wagon now....

MasterFlea · 31/07/2014 08:27

I lost a kilo. 77.5 kgs. Hooray.

I haven't used any dvd but did some exercises from the internet. this link had some of varying difficulty so I can't do them all yet.

Walking and a tiny bit of swimming was all I did last week. But it is so hot here, that could've been water loss.

MasterFlea · 31/07/2014 08:28

Huh, it stuck a picture on my post. The wonders of technology.

Iamnotanugget · 31/07/2014 22:50

I've done it! I've lost baby weight from dc3, all 18lbs of it. I now need to start shifting the extra 8lbs I've been carrying since dc2 was born. I think I'll struggle this week as I'm out with dh for a meal and going out for a birthday dinner. Think I'll just aim to maintain.

MasterFlea · 01/08/2014 07:36

I'm very envious notanugget. Well done.

Enjoy your meal out.

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 01/08/2014 09:05

Back from holiday and gained a bit. Going to see what I can do before the next official weigh in.

Hi all,

May I join?

I have 10 week old DS (first baby)

I'm 13stone10 Sad cannot believe how much weight I've put on!
I've put on 2stone5 since my pregnancy booking in weight !! And I wasn't happy with that weight either . I think my ideal weight is probably 4 stone less but my first goal will be to get back to booking in weight.

I'm EBF and my boobs are massive so have ordered a new sports bra to start exercising. Have also joined weigjtwatcher a online today.

Happy to do WI on Sundays

Congrats notanugget

snoozysleeper · 01/08/2014 15:24

Should say that if I get down to booking in weight that will give me a healthy bmi again so another plus Smile

bakingtins · 02/08/2014 16:24

Well done notanugget !

Welcome snoozy you've set yourself a big target there. Want to set yourself an interim one?

I would like to start exercising but I'm struggling with postnatal arthralgia (sore joints) particularly my ankles and feet. I already walk a lot and it tends to wear off, I set out hobbling if I sit for more than 5 minutes but I'm ok once I get going. I'm worried that running or Zumba etc might do permanent damage. The GP was useless when I mentioned it at postnatal check, just said it will probably get better and go back if it doesn't.
On a positive note, I s-q-u-e-e-z-e-d myself into prepreg jeans today for the first time, though I still have a way to go until they are comfy. At least I got them over my arse Blush

snoozysleeper · 03/08/2014 09:18

Thank you baking

My interim is to lose 2st5lbs , I know its a lot but I hope I can do it

Well done on getting into your prepreg jeans Smile that must be a good feeling, I hope your joints start to feel better soon...

Weigh in today : -3.5lbs

Somanyillustrations · 04/08/2014 07:50

Missed last weeks weigh in as I had exams so didn't want to be worrying about the scales. This morning I'm down to 9st 13lb, a loss of 4.5 lb in 2 weeks! Really pleased as we went out to celebrate exams being over, and had lots of Wine. 10lb to go to next target, holiday in 3.5 weeks....

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 04/08/2014 08:17

Weighed myself today and I've put on weight since I got back from holiday too Angry. I am now only 1kg down on where I bloody started.

So. A strict week beckons.

I've got stuck at 10 st8, am now going to stay with my parents for a week then on holiday, so not going to worry about it until September. I think once my ds2 is in school I'll rejoin SW properly, I obviously need the weekly shaming weigh in to stick to the diet properly.
See you all in the new term!

bakingtins · 10/08/2014 20:04

I mentioned exercise DVDs up thread and have decided to use this website mutusystem.com doing their 12 week program starting in September, since it looks like running is out until my joints settle down. Thought I'd post in case anyone wants to join me....

IWantToMakePeppaBacon · 11/08/2014 09:28

Morning all, have lost 3.4 lbs this week, taking me to a total loss of 9.2 lbs in 5 weeks. Slow going, but hopefully this way it'll stay off Smile

Wishing you all well.

snoozysleeper · 11/08/2014 09:59

Well done iwant I also have lost 3.5 lbs this week Smile
Slow and steady here too
Hope you're all doing well also

BendyMum15 · 15/08/2014 09:27

Hello! Can I join in?!
My idea is same as op's to follow dw principlea without parting with my money! I lost over a stone after DC1 and was down to 9stone 12 or something but by the time I got pregnant with DC2 I was 10stone and was 10stone4 at my booking in appointment.
I am now about 10stone 10 or 10 stone 8 depending on if I weigh before or after I've fed DD.
Am looking to first get to 10stone as then I will fit my clothes properly and then may try to get to 9stone7 as that was the weight I was when I got married.
DC is only 14 weeks and is breastfed so am aiming for slow and steady (wish my scales showed half ozs as even half an ounce every now and again would help me feel better).
The past two weeks have been a bit hit and miss healthy eating wise as it was my 'baby' sisters 18th last week and my dad's 50th this week so may have eaten a bit too much cake (I baked both of them so the left over marzipan may have found a home in my tummy too!!).
Here's to me actually fitting into more than just leggings and linen trousers soon!

BendyMum15 · 15/08/2014 09:27

*sw principles - rubbish at typing on my swish new phone!

MasterFlea · 15/08/2014 10:49

Checking in.
Weight this week is 76.8 kgs. Lost 0.7kgs since last checked in.

I have eating chocolate this week. But not in the same quantities as before. I still don't fit into my pre preg clothes. but DH thinks I'm starting to look more like myself again.

I'm interested in the mutusystem. Will you let me know how you find it? I'm reluctant to part with my money just yet.

bakingtins · 28/08/2014 09:25

Where has everyone gone? I managed to come back from holiday at 10st6lb, so lost 2lb, goodness knows how, the Dutch seem to mainly eat cheese. Every evening after the kids were in bed we sat in the caravan listening to rain on the roof and eating crisps.... it makes no sense after weeks of trying to eat right and being stuck at 10.8!
I've signed up for MuTu now, so flea , I will let you know how I get on. If you want to do it sign up for the email updates first, you get 15% off code sent to you. It's about £5 a week so same as rejoining SW or going to a class, and you get advice on 'clean' eating as well as core stability exercises and high intensity interval workouts.
I will complete the 12 weeks just before I'm 40 so feeling motivated with the new term to give it my best shot. It promises to give you back your mojo, amongst other things...not sure me and my mojo would even recognise each other, but we can but try!
