Anyone up for a post-natal weight loss support thread?

DC3 is now 6 weeks and I am 15kg heavier than I want to be (about 10kg higher than pre-pregnancy, when I was already a bit over my 'ideal' weight). For my health, and to get into my old clothes, I want to lose at least 10kg, preferably 15kg.

My plan is to vaguely follow Slimming World principles and aim to average at least 70,000 steps a week (10,000 a day, in line with recommendations). I also want to do it healthily and whilst avoiding emotional angst (no beating myself up that I'm naughty if one day I eat chocolate fudge cake, just careful eating overall).

Anyone want to join me? I've been promised one buddy already on another thread.

Somanyillustrations · 14/07/2014 06:29

Yay, lost 2.5lb, down to 10st 4.5lb. 15.5lb to go...

Suzietwo · 14/07/2014 07:10

i am going to do a tuesday weigh in. mondays are always after eating too much on weekends so are horrid!

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 14/07/2014 07:22

I lost another kilo! Now that's only 1.5kg over three weeks because of the blip in week 2, but we're going in the right direction!

Suzietwo · 14/07/2014 07:26

hurrah! a kg is 2.2lbs which is great prgoress in a week

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 14/07/2014 07:55

Thanks Suzi. I find weekends hard too. I think the trick is going to be to allow myself to depart from the healthy eating, but with proper substantial things that I enjoy, rather than constant picking and grazing.

Boo. I've put on a pound. Did pretty well during the week but have been entertaining this weekend and cooked and eaten too much. Still 7lb down on start weight so just need to get back to being sensible this week.

Well done to penguin and somany

Suzietwo · 14/07/2014 08:45

ia gree re eating substnatially rather than grazing

i work f/t and its quite a stressful time at the moment generally with the new baby, trying to sell a property, 2 small children and work being busy so i think i have a weird low level constant stress thing making me constipated.

IWantToMakePeppaBacon · 14/07/2014 11:08

Lost another pound this week, so 5lbs total. Going in the right direction!

Suzietwo · 15/07/2014 09:37

weighed in today and am around 11.11 which is 2lb loss last week.

i am aiming at 11.7 by 25.07. it should be achievable as i will be spending the whole of next week in court which limits munching opportunities!

Somanyillustrations · 15/07/2014 10:06

Well done!

MasterFlea · 15/07/2014 11:27

Well done on the losses.

I lost half a kilo in the past week. Yay!

But having a tough day today. Stressed and tired with lots of wakjng with baby the last two nights. I ate 2 Freddy bars this morning, breaking my chocolate free run of 10 days.

Oh well.

Flickstar · 15/07/2014 20:55

Great losses everyone. Really inspiring! I'm away on holiday until
Friday so will start properly on Monday...

Somanyillustrations · 15/07/2014 21:51

Two hour in the gym with a personal trainer negated by huge bowl of carbonara and a couple of glasses of wine Blush Tomorrow's another day...

Thenemesisofthevole · 16/07/2014 11:40

I've lost another pound (that's 2st 5 since my ds was born) so am pleased, especially as I went out for dinner twice in the last week. Still a long way to go those. Well done to those who have lost this week.

Thenemesisofthevole · 16/07/2014 11:41

*though not those. Should really proof-read!

bakingtins · 21/07/2014 08:33

I lost a pound, which puts me back where I was a fortnight ago Hmm
I'm a bit disheartened TBH, nothing to show for a fortnight of lovely weather with no ice cream, saying no to biscuits and expending a lot of effort choosing and cooking healthy meals, plus DD has had massive growth spurt. Not sure what I could be doing differently and am not doing anything different to the first 2 weeks when I lost 8lb. I knew I wouldn't sustain that rate of loss but 1-2lb a week sounded achievable longer term? Suppose I have averaged that, but need to not be losing and signing the same pound.
I go on holiday in a month and want to be 10 stone or near as dammit by then - 9lb to go....

Iamnotanugget · 21/07/2014 12:03

Hi, can I join you all? Dc3 is 12 weeks old and I've got to lose another 4lb to shift his baby weight. I'm really pleased with myself as I've lost a stone in 5/6 weeks BUT I need to shift another 8lb after that to lose dc2's baby weight and a further 17lbs from dc1! After that I'd love to lose a bit more so I have quite a way to go!

I'm getting some great support on another thread but would like to hear about the experiences of others who are ebf too.

baking try weighing yourself again today. I weighed myself after 2 weeks of eating sensible portions and making healthier choices and hadn't lost anything. I felt really disheartened. I weighed myself the next day and had lost 4lbs! Must have just been some weird blip.

bakingtins · 22/07/2014 08:13

Welcome nugget and thanks for the tip. A stone in 6 weeks is brilliant. I weighed myself again today and I'm 10st6, more than 3lb lighter than yesterday Confused mostly sweat lost overnight in this clammy heat
I was feeling a bit better about it already anyway, bought the SW magazine yesterday which always inspires me to keep it up and gives me some new recipes to try. 10th wedding anniversary this week which will be a blow out (all home cooked though as have small baby to contend with so no being whisked off to Paris) but will stick to plan the rest of the week.

Where's everyone else?

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 22/07/2014 08:53

I am on holiday with no scales! Weighed myself on friday and was down half a kilo, but no illusions it will survive the holidays. just trying not to undo tooooooo much of my work.Smile

OP posts:
bakingtins · 22/07/2014 14:13

It's not a holiday if you take (or think about too much) the scales. Have a lovely time!

Somanyillustrations · 23/07/2014 06:59

Down 1lb to 10st 3.5lb. Have sweated it out in the gym 6 days out of the last 10, so very disappointed that it's so slow. Right direction though. Exams next week, so need to keep the revision/ stress munchies away.

bakingtins · 24/07/2014 08:01

We'll done somany how far to go to your target now? Good luck for exams this week.

MasterFlea · 24/07/2014 08:14

78.5kg this week. We had a long weekend away and eating out did me no favours. Static weight.

This week, I have friends staying and a party to go to. I am going to just enjoy the time and not worry about the weight just now.

Maybe the frantic cleaning will burn some weight off.
