Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Morning all,

Solo - at least you left most of the chips and are now back listening to signal. I think it's hard to fully concentrate on the food when with friends.

Milly - how was the film? Sounds like a lovely evening out.

Nogood - that makes sense. Sometimes I get hungry but really can't decide what I want - maybe I'm just thirsty instead, will make sure I drink a big glass of water every time I'm feeling hungry to see. Wow you did so much exercise yesterday! I admire you. I did a 2 mild walk at the weekend in the woods and near enough killed me lol (in my defence it was mainly uphill and was pushing the pushchair).

Feeling positive today. My mum is coming with my baby niece so we'll go and do our food shopping and have lunch. She's doing SW (and doing v well) but feel bad for her in the supermarket as she has to check fat content etc and has to see what she can/can't have. She's happy enough but wouldn't work for me.

Have a great day everyone! Grin

MillyRules · 21/01/2014 08:57

Morning Bonnie walking with pushchair is a exercise class in some places now....isn't it? So two miles with it and uphill is brilliant. Toned your arms and legs and bum too I should think Smile
Film was great. Funny, endearing, enjoyable....did I mention " funny" ....ha ha. Smile

MillyRules · 21/01/2014 08:59

NoGood well done on exercise and lady bits ha ha. Smile

MillyRules · 21/01/2014 09:06

Bonnie my husband and daughter get shaky etc when they are hungry. They get hypoglycemic. Maybe you do to. If so always keep small snacks with you when you feel it coming on...eat. I'm the opposit........my body is perfectly happy going without food. I go into ketosis very easily when I dont eat so my body just dips into fat stores I guess.
We'll done ladies, your all doing really well and learning more about yourselves and your hunger every day.

Solo · 21/01/2014 13:10

Ooh! no, the Envy face was you going off to bed with my Paul! I think the page was open a long while before I pressed post! Grin

I have listened to the VGB cd this morning. Fell asleep, but have had a couple of odd pain type feelings in my tummy. Have not read the book yet though.

Bonnie152 · 21/01/2014 14:50

Milly Ah maybe I have that too then, will give the snacks a go! That's probably also why conventional 'diets' really don't work for me as I get so hungry and shaky that I then eat everything in sight as a natural reaction.
Glad the film was good, so nice to go to the cinema :)

Been food shopping with mum and stocked up on some nice goodies, good day so far. I think I'm gradually making healthier choices without thinking about it. For lunch had some tomatoes with it as really fancied them with a sprinkle of salt and pepper on...tasted so good! Usually I'd not have tomatoes at all really unless cooked in something.

Hope everyone else is having a good day, it's really chilly here today so hope everyone's keeping cosy :)

MillyRules · 21/01/2014 14:51

Yep, loads of us get the twinge type thing in the tummy after gastric band insertion. I tend to get a little heartburny type feeling when my tummy has had enough food.

Solo · 21/01/2014 18:03

Well! I had ready brek for breakfast (after insertion), smaller portion than normal and normal isn't big! left a mouthful, still felt stuffed to the gills especially after my mug of tea...
Did not have lunch as wasn't hungry. Got some bad news about a colleague that I did some training with a year ago (he was one of my tutors) and I got on very well with - no, not like that, though I did ask him out he died yesterday in a crash and I've cried big wet tears...got the MnMs (is that how you spell it? never bought them before yesterday) out...made me feel sick. But I could see all the while that it was for comfort. I am so upset :(

MillyRules · 21/01/2014 18:09

O Solo that's horrible. Poor you. What terrible terrible news. So very sorry.xxx

MillyRules · 21/01/2014 18:10

Ahmmmm.....did you mean M&Ms?

Not to change the subject or anything but it sounds like the Gastric Band has started its magic on you. I find it brilliant.

Solo · 21/01/2014 18:36

Thanks Rules :(

Yes, I meant M&M's...! yes, I hope so because if not, I could be a size 20 before I know it.

Hello all! Firstly solo sorry about your news! a tough time for you hope you're ok.
Well currently I am struggling! Mainly can't seem to get the balance of eating in the day right to stop myself from feeling nauseous and shaky in the afternoon when I come home from work. I think I need to find some healthy snacks that will perk me up and stop the urge to binge when I get in because of blood sugar dropping. I am actually fine in the day and seem to be improving a lot in evenings and weekends but it's this dip for me between 4 and 6pm.
I am also succumbing to self sabotage ATM and need to do some of the pm trances and activities so might have to take myself up to bed early tonight to make a start. It's a shame because I feel good about the system and know it can work but work is always so busy I don't have time to mindfully eat anything! How do other people cope with eating while at work?

MillyRules · 21/01/2014 18:59

Yippee when you take away all the other stuff....its just eating like a slim person with no weight issues or food issues. You just eat when your hungry. Stop when your satisfied.

Dieting tells you how many calories you can have, listening to your own proper hunger tells you how many calories your own body really needs.
If your not hungry, don't eat. Smile

Bonnie152 · 21/01/2014 19:03

Solo - what horrible news, must be a shock.xx

Bonnie152 · 21/01/2014 19:09

Yippee - I know what you mean about low blood sugar, I have the same problem and am yet to find a way to control it very well. Also, with the work thing, I know lots of people can eat at their desk or snack etc when they're hungry, but I used to be a teacher and obviously couldn't crack open snacks mid lesson because I was hungry lol. I just used to graze, have v small breakfast, small snack at break, small lunch, small snack after school etc. is that something you could do in your job? it's definitely tricky to get the right timings so that you're actually hungry though.

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 21/01/2014 22:00

Oh solo I'm so sorry, sending you a big hug, what awful news xxx

Jellybeans456 · 21/01/2014 22:45

Well you are all doing great. Me, not so. Have had too much to think and do at the moment. However going to start again tomorrow. Can't seem to be able to read at the moment, so just going to follow the 4 rules, till things pan out, and I'm settled again.

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 22/01/2014 09:53

Need to give myself a shake, totally out of the zone and feeling v frustrated with myself. Yesterday just ate mindlessly all day and then got all down thinking "why am I such a failure? Why can't I just get this woe?" But then if I'm honest with myself, started so well with FFEE then by day 3 wasn't doing everything I should, so no wonder things have gone to pot. Need to re-commit myself and do everything PM says, even if it means being a bit selfish and putting myself first for the next 5 days, the fact that hopefully by the end I'll be less of a stroppy cow more emotionally balanced has got to be good for everyone.

Happy Pauling everyone!

Bonnie152 · 22/01/2014 14:02

Hi everyone,

Jelly & Nogood - I'm in the same boat. Had a 'wobble' this morning. Was feeling down after an unsettled night with dd and a row with hubby over something silly. When dd went down for morning nap I felt upset and turned straight to food - scoffed a doughnut and huge piece of cake completely mindlessly Hmm

Given myself a good talking to and am back on track, not eaten anything since as am still stuffed and bloated. As soon as I pigged out I ordered the FFEE book as that's my biggest problem so looking forward to it arriving.

How's everyone else doing today? - better than I am I hope!!

yippeekiyay2 · 22/01/2014 22:55

Wow Bonnie I am a bit scared we may be the same person Shock!Wink I used to be a teacher and am still working in education but in a mentoring/support role so am still dictated by timings in the day rather than actual hunger. I often have to do work through my lunch break as well so not really concentrating on food. I will try and choose what I want but be mindful of having things that can be ate in stages rather than big meals I think. Also I have had a couple of off days (last night and today particularly bad) and have been deliberately binging as I have been feeling very down and upset about lots of different things going on but lost my cool with dd after a bad night and have spent the day eating badly as a result. To top it off I have also had a row with hubby and so am avoiding going up to bed atm as I feel upset Sad. I really do feel very emotional atm about everything - don't want to be a snappy old dragon but feel very run down - sigh...so jelly you're not alone in struggling with things - we're all in it together :)
On a sort of positive note I have not given up on this idea and am currently downloading the FFEE trances etc on to my ipod so I can play them at bed time (no CD player in bedroom) Hopefully this will help and I am going to start using the success tracker from the back of the book also from tomorrow if all goes to plan.

Solo · 23/01/2014 00:30

Thanks for the hugs. Bad day today as I ate two full meals (lunch and dinner). Tomorrow's another day. May listen to Paul again.

See you all soon.

Oh dear, seems we are all struggling at the moment. Last night was a big fail for me...hubby and I ordered pizza AND doughballs AND chicken thingies...and we watched the TV awards while eating it...doh!! Didn't eat loads but way more than I would've if I'd been properly following PM woe.

Yippee - we definitely sound very similar. I completely understand how you're feeling. I too feel v run down and my head feels 'messy' at the moment as I feel I have so much to think about. I'm hoping the FFEE book might help me not turn to food to make me feel better.

I used to find it hard to follow this woe when I was a teacher due to breaks and timings. I used to have to try to anticipate how much to eat to make sure I'd be hungry for the next break or lunch time. I eventually got into the swing of it so keep persisting :)

Onwards and upwards...come on guys we can do it! It's a new day :)

Solo · 23/01/2014 12:35

Have rebooted my HGB. Couldn't eat all my small bowl of ready brek and having my mug of tea afterwards made me feel sick...I have started again! :)

Well done Solo!

Think I need to do the same, back to basics and start again!

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 23/01/2014 17:44

Well done Solo that's brilliant. I've had a better day today, still not 100% but getting there again. Just had my tea and left half of it (although still should have stopped earlier) but getting back on track at least. Painting our bathroom tonight once the DC are in bed so that will stop any snacking temptation later on.

Hope everyone's had better days today and getting back on track.
