Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

It's hard to explain but it's basically a website where people post pictures which often act as links to web pages and you can 'pin' pictures onto your own scrap boards. There's all sorts of categories on there; recipes, diy, fashion, things to do with the kids, fitness etc. It's very addictive!

I can relate about Barrow we live in hartlepool which is a similar set up.

BrandNewIggi · 19/01/2014 16:38

Not sure if this is a question or a moan... Continuing to read FEE. I am listening to the trance every day (20 mins) and doing the Havening dvd (20 mins). Have now got to the bit where asked to listen to the "while you eat" cd once a day, and I see in the success journal he mentions several other activities you could do. (Never mind trying to fit in a bit of exercise!)
I've read were Paul says how women shoudnt say they can't find time, anyone can find 20 mins to take care of themselves.. But it isn't just 20 mins, is it? It's hard for me to find, not just time, but alone time with access to a dvd - I was interrupted in mid-arm-stroke yesterday by ds1 who mustve wondered what the hell I was up to!
I am committed to this, but do worry I'll leave stuff out (especially on days when I work) and then fall away.. Sad

Hi everyone,

Gosh I love Pinterest too! I just wish it'd be around when I was planning my wedding, so many pretty ideas!

Iggi - as long as you are doing the best you can that's all you can do. I haven't used or read that PM book but I know what you mean about finding the time, it's difficult when you're a mum and work. Just do as much as you can. Also, the vision of you're ds walking in mid stroking arms did make me giggle! Grin

So far so good today, I feel like I've stuck 100% to things and looking forward to listening to the cd tonight. Are consciously and stopped when full. Making tea at the moment - chip butties Smile

Hope everyone has had a good day!

MillyRules · 19/01/2014 17:46

BrandNew I just listen to the CD.....for me its the Gastric Band CD.
Ive read the books and have been doing mindful eating for the last 15 years but Pauls CDs have given me the edge when doing it.
Once you understand and apply the four rules and really do them then you are eating like a slim person eats.

Bonnie152 · 19/01/2014 17:56

Milly - what is it you prefer over the gastric band cd? I have both cd's and always listen to the ICMYT one (when I'm actually following this woe) just out of habit but thinking of giving the GB one a go to see if it suits me better.

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 19/01/2014 18:16

Iggi I set my alarm 30 mins early so listen to the trance then while I'm still half asleep (I'm lucky though because DC don't wake up til the heating comes on so I'm guaranteed peace til then) then I do the havening last thing at night in bed on the DCs portable DVD player with the headphones on. DH thinks I'm nuts but he's used to me by now! I'm trying to do the self-sabotage exercise everyday as this is my main problem but haven't felt the need to do the others yet. And I haven't listened to the eating cd at all, but meals aren't really a problem for me, it's the emotional eating in between that's my downfall.

yippeekiyay2 · 19/01/2014 18:57

Well been a much better day today after I got in a major cabin fever huff this morning and demanded that we go out of barrow somewhere - so we went to a place called grange over sands which has a sea front walk and a nice little cafe for lunch where I had a goats cheese and sundries tomato baguette. I ate til I was full - it was actually the 1st thing I had today as I had kept checking with myself all morning and just didn't feel hungry.then this aft I went to the gym and then when I got back I had half an apple, thought I was full but then about half hour later felt hungry so tried a packet of crisps, dd basically stole the bag and ate most of them so I've had a slice of fresh small loaf bread and a thin slice of bake well but took the icing off as i didn't like it, now feel comfortably full, phew!
nogood I think I would find it easier here if I was used to it but always lived in cities before and only been here about 2 and a half years. Also no family here so can get a bit lonely.
iggi I agree about the comments in the EE book - I can find 20 mins just about but find it harder to find that and cd time and for any other exercises etc. well see how it goes I think!
Thanks for the Pinterest link, I will have to check it out! Smile

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 19/01/2014 19:13

I know what you mean I lived in London before moving here (nearly 12 years ago) so it was a major culture shock. But love it now, although it took a long time to adjust. I think getting out and exploring nearby definitely helps. Sounds like you've had a good day all round yippee

Bonnie152 · 19/01/2014 19:41

Yippee - glad you've had a good day Smile bet a day by the sea was lovely!

MillyRules · 19/01/2014 19:54

I hope no one minds me saying but I think its best to eat until your satisfied which is what PM says not full. For me its a big difference.

Bonnie both cds work of course as the main thing is the 4 rules but the gastric one just seems to really make me listen to my body and enables me to know when I am satisfied rather than eating till im full. I guess its to do with making your stomach feel that it is smaller.

Bonnie152 · 19/01/2014 20:02

Thanks Milly. Will give both a go and see which I prefer Smile

Jellybeans456 · 19/01/2014 20:24

Hi All

Feel for you Yipee. I also moved from the city a few years ago, to live by the sea. Lovely house, and nice coastal walks, however was far from shops, and i felt isolated.

We moved back to the city a year ago, and it's been brilliant. See my family and friends more or less when I want. Got places to go to everyday, and to take the little one to. Best thing we ever did was to move back.

Need to get back to Pauling, as seem to have left it behind the last few days. Will reboot tonight and listen to cd :)

MillyRules · 19/01/2014 20:35

I too live by the sea. Im on the side of a mountain but overlooking the sea. Love going to the beach. I live in a tourist area . Im Australian originally. O...and half Welsh and American. Met my OH here in North Wales then we married and moved to London then moved back so the kids could grow up around their family. Plus it was much nicer here that where we were in London.

yippeekiyay2 · 19/01/2014 22:08

Millie I know what you're saying about eating til 'satisfied' vs 'full' - I have been using the description from ICMYT (and I can't remember the exact description at the mo and the book is upstairs!) but it's that feeling in the solar plexus of being full, it feels for me like as if I was a car and had been topped up with petrol and get the click if you know what I mean! I think there is definitely room for me to improve on both the speed of my eating and stopping a little sooner but so far that is progress for me and I need to factor in more time in the evening for the book/cd/dvd to help me with it.
Nogood and Jelly - sounds like 2 very different experiences of moving away from the city...there are things about being here that I enjoy - neighbours, people I work with are all lovely and it is a very safe place, but I feel like you Jelly about having enough to do and people to see...I do agree though that it takes time to feel comfortable in a place and build up friends etc. and I am in the process of that now, but it was much easier when I moved to new locations before having dd as you were more flexible with going out and doing stuff.
well time for me to head up to bed (past me curfew again but only just Wink Wishing everyone a good day tomorrow - Monday's are crazy busy for me so not sure if will get a chance to come on here tomorrow!

Solo · 19/01/2014 23:40

Hi all! Wow! busy busy!! :)

I've been quite good. Am always leaving food on my plate ~ even if it's just a mouthful. Ate some cake thing that Dd and my Mum made before Christmas (tinder bread/biscuits?), anyway, was stoooooopid! cos I wasn't actually hungry at that point. I was searching to nibble tonight whilst doing the Dc's packed lunches and thought NO! and I drank tea...but I did have a handful of cashews. They're all gone now, so won't do that again.

Im really into frozen mango at the moment. I defrost it until its just slightly warm.....mmmmmm!

MillyRules · 20/01/2014 13:01

How you all doing today ladies? Smile

MillyRules · 20/01/2014 15:54

I have just sat down to eat some rocket leaf salad, with ham, grapes. First meal today. Quiet hungry but not too hungry.Smile

Bonnie152 · 20/01/2014 16:10

Hi Milly - yum sounds like a tasty meal! Love the taste of rocket.

Been ok so far today. Was just on the sewing machine for a bit and when I finished I felt v hungry and shaky (I tend to get jittery when I'm really hungry - I'm sure it's not a good sign!) so went to make myself some toast and a big drink. Drunk the drink and didn't feel hungry anymore so must've just been dehydrated. Left the toast.

We have roast belly pork for dinner tonight with roasted pots and veg, really looking forward to it :)

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

Solo · 20/01/2014 19:18

had lunch out with my best friend...didn't listen to anything as it was so delicious. Didn't eat all the main, left chips (most of them) and some peas but ate every scrap of the dessert. Will not eat anything else today though because I really couldn't!!

OP posts:
NoGoodAtWittyNames · 20/01/2014 20:50

At least you're not eating everything solo that's definitely progress - baby steps and all that!

Bonnie I often mix up thirst and hunger - I get the same signals for both, rumbling tummy etc, the only way I can tell the difference is when I'm hungry I get a clear picture of what I want to eat, when I'm thirsty I'm undecided.

Had an ok day, done lots of exercise, all that talk of jogging got me yearning so went out for an early morning jog (knee and lady bits seem to be holding up so so far so good!) and then did a 5 mile round trip walk to a playgroup with DD. But eating wise could have done better, don't think I'm stopping early enough so definitely going to focus on that tomorrow. Off to bed soon with PM, got the havening DVD to watch, the trance to listen to and re-reading the book (jealous solo?!?)

MillyRules · 20/01/2014 23:41

I went to see Last Vegas with DH tonight and we went for Pizza first. Had 2 pieces and a small bowl of salad. Then coffee and quarter bag of Revels in the cinema.
