Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Thank you BBB I'm actually loads better this morning :) yes after 18 months it's great to be able to take whatever meds I want! I'm only 32 and DH is 29 so time is on our side for DC2.

So, how are people getting on?

My goodness! You're practically babies yourselves!!

Not doing great here. Not particularly over eating just all over the place. Lunch at stupid times because I don't get round to eating even though I am hungry. Not really thinking about what I am eating at all although I don't give myself large portions.

It is a case of 'mind full' instead of mindful at the moment!! Grin

I'm around but off on holiday to the Lakes so reception may be variable!

How are you solo?

I'm struggling a bit. I know Paul says eat what you want but I'm a total sugar addict so I was thinking of trying to cut all processed crap out to reset my system. Any advice on this issue?

Report
BigBoobiedBertha · 03/05/2014 13:55

No advice Faith. I think this is a teeny bit of a flaw in this plan actually. You have to get over the 'eat what you want' hump, where eating what you want means not eating very well to get out the other side where your body realises that what it actually wants is a healthy balanced diet. I think that is the wall I am constantly coming up against, probably the one that takes 6mths of habit changing to break.

I don't feel like it is a question of following the rules and all will be well because it takes too long for a lot of us to get results and still reach that happy place where broccoli becomes something you want to eat rather than have to. I can only speak for me as somebody who actually doesn't like veggies very much, and especially not when there is chocolate or cake as a substitute that I am 'allowed' to eat but that is what trips me up. I can't see there is a way round it than to actively cut things out like ppeat did. It is probably why she lost weight but I don't think it followed PMcK's plan at all but what is the alternative?

So, no answers really, just to say I do sympathise . That is the best I can do at the moment.

Don't let it spoil the Lakes though. Have a good holiday. Smile

Hi Solo. Any word from Milly? Hope you are OK and having some success.

Sorry, after that, I feel positively blasphemous after that post!

In my defence I am just fed up with being fat and not doing anything about it. Nothing like a trip to the hairdressers to remind you of your flaws. Bloody 'honest' mirrors. They should be covered in black cloth except for the final reveal when you can marvel at your hair for 30 seconds and ignore the sack of potatoes sitting in the chair below it! Smile

ALittleFaith · 03/05/2014 19:09

Thanks BBB. I know what you mean about the hairdressers. I actually have quite a small head and I feel daft in the capes!

I think I need to go cold turkey with the sugar for a week or so when I get back off my holiday! it's not just about cravings, it's such a habit to choose sugary foods and so many foods have added sugar. I'm reading a book about it at the moment which should help.

It is a plan for after your hols. No need to spoil a week off with such things though.

I don't know, I feel like I had more control when I did the Alternate Day diet. It was drastic but it worked and I actually stopped wanting sugary/fatty stuff in the end. The impact continued for a quite a while after I gave up on the fasting. I am so tempted by 5:2 at the moment. If it weren't for the fact that I don't want to live my life like that permanently, I would definitely do it but like every diet it is temporary and that isn't what I want.

i need a kick up the backside. Sad

Backside kicker here!!!

I am doing terribly! there is a big possibility that I have diabetes and I'm really angry with myself over that! then yesterday, I ate 4 jam doughnuts because I wanted them. Disgusting! Apart from cakes and biscuits, I don't add sugar to foods, nor salt. If I do use sugar, it's brown sugar. I don't eat enough fruit and veg anymore because it's too bloody expensive. I don't take caffeinated drinks unless I'm offered tea at a friends house. I do cook from scratch.
I really need to reverse this diabetes possibility.

The PM's I got from milly in response to mine were a little odd and she never once answered my enquiries as to how she was, that we miss her etc...so I'm afraid I don't know.

BBB don't do it! as you rightly say, it's a temporary fix. We all need to refocus and get talking to ourselves! it's ridiculous isn't it? this is the easiest weight loss thing and yet we are all struggling one way or another.
BTW, I had my hair cut last week too...all I could see was my second chin and jowls along with the grey roots in that horrible mirror.

I think I'm going to try the cold turkey thing with refined sugars and try to ensure that I'm not buying anything with corn syrup in. Big changes need to happen. I don't want to be like my Mum and be full of daily pills!

None of us are visiting this thread much. I think visiting the thread focuses the mind a bit. I was wondering earlier if we should start a new thread and give ourselves a new start? What do you think?

Sorry to hear about the potential diabetes Solo. That is a bit grim but presumably it can be controlled by diet? I suppose it should give you a real life kick up the backside although what we should do and what we actually do aren't necessarily the same thing ime. Fingers crossed it isn't as serious as it sounds but no harm in cutting out refined sugars for a bit I am sure.

I had my eyes tested as well as having my haircut on Friday. More evidence of my increasing decrepitude. On the bright side, at the rate I am going, I won't be able to see myself in hairdresser's mirror before long which should solve the problem of post haircut related blues. Grin

Strange about Milly. If you are lurking Milly, reveal yourself! We want to know that you are OK. Plus, I am worried that seeing my photo was all too much. You haven't been back since I posted that. WinkGrin

Im here. I stopped using the thread because I felt that I came on everyday to try and support and keep us all on the path but a lot of the time I was the only one posting for days sometimes. I started to feel that I was posting too much and also as you have all recently confirmed, weight loss just isn't happening with us. We lose a bit then regain over and over again. If we cant make this woe work just the way it is and be successful then maybe we do need to give ourselves a good kick up the proverbial. We all keep rebooting but 3 years (2 in my case) some of us are still no nearer to losing the weight and keeping it off. Paying lip service is not going to get the weight off so what do you say......Big Reboot to end all Reboots??? And maybe we all need to be accountable in that we could post weight loss goals and weekly losses even if we are maintaining. I know its not really the way but we have to do something to keep ourselves accountable to ourselves and each other. What do you all think? Smile

Loving the new name Milly. I understand what you are saying about being here on your own; I think several of us have done that over the time we've been here...

So! if we are to start a new thread early, is there a collective day that we can all listen to the cd? I can do Tuesday or Wednesday this week. I will get working on the new thread now... :) nice to see you back Bindi

Thanks Solo. Im glad you understand. As BBB said, this thread is really helpful for keeping us all "doing it" so maybe we could all make more use of it. You set up the threads full of inspiration Solo so its a shame to not really use it as a tool to help us all. I can do Tuesday or Wednesday too.

Sorry to hear about your poss diabetes. Have you had it confirmed? My friend had it for years and she lost 7 stone and her diabetes went with it. She did this about 3 years ago and has managed to maintain. Lots of health problems are created by being overweight aren't they. Another reason why we all need to make this work. We all know we can do it cause we have done it before. Its just about remaining totally mindful I think and not thinking "O I will restart tomorrow".

Solo have you read the emotional eating book? Could we all perhaps read the same book together at the same time too, would that help.
We are all hear for each other and we all want to get rid of this "fat" so very badly.

I guess I am not a real mum except to fur babies, but this was the most informative forum I found online regarding Paul McKenna, so I hope no one minds me butting in.

I have both his app and book, as well as the EasyLoss VGB app and I am torn about the whole thing.

I did the VGB for about a week and then I realized I wasn't liking some of the way things were being said so I stopped and then gained a bunch of weight. I have had success with Paul's program in the past. Nothing too drastic with either one because I always have this thought that I am "being naughty" eating something I shouldn't .

Anyway, I hope no one minds if I lurk around a bit. And if you have any comments or info re: VGB vs Paul, I would love to hear it!

Thanks!
