Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Hello all - can i join you? I have joined another thread as i have such a lot to lose as well ( 8 stone :() but i have bought PMcK's book Hypnotic gastric band and listened to it twice this morning in the hope that it will work for me today and this thread seems like a good idea as you are all following more or less his books.

I wont be able to tell if the cd worked till late afternoon/evening time as i dont usually eat till about 1 -2 in the afternoon anyway but i am keeping everything crossed i really am.

I didnt do the weeks prep as tbh i didnt see the point - i read it on Saturday and prepared myself mentally yesterday - then listened twice this morning.

I am really hoping this works as i am pretty desperate short of having a real GB fitted and i really dont want to go down that road but i am so crap at saying no and have real issues with emotional eating, i am booked in for hypnotherapy a week today but thought i would try this first and see if it works for me at all.

Anyway ill have a read back over your thread later as i from what i have seen some of you have had success with this, any tips gratefully recieved!

Millyblods · 03/03/2014 11:19

Hi Rosie welcomeSmile
We all do PM and follow his principles of
eat only when your hungry
eat what you really want
savour and taste each mouthful
stop as soon as you are satisfied

We don't diet. Dieting is the way to overeating. This works but it isn't a quick fix. Smile. It sounds like your desperate to lose your weight. What else are you doing if you don't mind me asking Smile

BrandNewIggi · 03/03/2014 14:07

Hello, have dropped off the thread (and the wagon) due to a couple of exceptionally stressful weeks, when I sort of gave myself "permission" to change my state with the chocolate bar etc. interestingly I was much happier when following this programme. Have just listened to the cd and going to pull myself back on track.

Hope things are going well for everyone else Smile

rosieposey · 03/03/2014 19:16

Hi Milly :) I am booked in for some hypnotherapy a week today so i am hoping that will help curb my apetite somewhat. I don't know what happened but i can eat far too much of late and i hate how that makes me feel.

Today has been fairly positive ( although i am hungry ) the trouble is if i give in to that hunger too much i will overeat so i have to watch my intake a little. I am hoping that the feeling of having a gastric band will kick in soon though. I listened this morning to the trance cd and i will listen tomorrow morning and hope that its a gradual thing with me because it didn't seem to work too well today.

I will also follow the 4 rules that are in the book - except for when i am feeling hungry only a couple of hours after i have eaten, there is no way i will lose if i keep on eating the way i have been.

Not really looking for a quick fix - a lb a week would be fine :) at my weight and with so much to lose i am hoping thats do-able with PM's help.

I agree with not dieting - i am hoping that my body will make sensible choices for me and that my intake goes down a little at least.

Hope everybody else's day has been positive :)

ALittleFaith · 03/03/2014 20:14

Hello!

Welcome Rosie, you're in glad company. I only fitted my gastric band on Friday and have already noticed a significant difference. One thing I picked up on what you said - I've found in the last couple of days because I'm eating such small amounts I am getting hungry again sooner than before. However I'm much better at recognising true hunger and when I'm getting emotional (my weak spot) I'm drawn to do the havening. I haven't actually done any emotional eating since Friday. I didn't eat much on/after nights when I usually crave sugary carbs.

Welcome back iggi! It's interesting that not following the rules actually didn't suit you. Back on track now! :)

BigBoobiedBertha · 04/03/2014 09:32

Hello,

I am really bad at staying with this thread at the moment. Sorry for the long absences. Life and all that. Blush

Doing OK here in terms of stability and more or less staying with the rules but not listening to the CD nearly enough. I am sure I would do better if I could face it but I still don't like PMcK's voice very much. I am a bit worried my irritation will counteract all the good stuff. Mind you, I got something in a similar vein done by another chap after reading about it in the Sunday Times mag over Christmas and that was even more annoying. Perhaps I have a general irrational dislike of hypnotherapists' voices - I probably need somebody, I don't know, a hypnotherapist or somebody to help me get over that, don't I? Grin

So tell me, since I don't visit here nearly enough, who has been doing the gastric band the longest? I still have reservations about whether or not is a step too far for me but if it works and people are sticking with it more easily than ICMYT then maybe I should get over myself and give it a go. All this dithering is not helping with weight loss though. I have that family wedding looming and so far I have not kept to the 1.5lbs a week.

Rosie, welcome. I also have a lot to lose so I know how you feel. I will be interested to hear about your RL hypnotherapist too. Will his or her voice be any less annoying? Grin Are you going to tell them that you have the gastric band fitted? I was just wondering what happens when 2 lots of hypnotherapy are used at the same time and whether there will be mixed messages or whether it doesn't work like that.

I do find all this stuff fascinating. It's just the voices that are thwarting my total commitment. I'll find one I like one day, I'm sure.

ALittleFaith · 04/03/2014 17:51

Good to see you BBB! I was wondering how you were. I think milly has had her gastric band the longest of everyone? I wavered for ages about doing it but 4 days in I'm really pleased I did. I feel radically different. I'm eating well, it's like the rules are firmly lodged in my head and I can't ignore them!

Well I finally weighed myself (at my sister's because ours are still at DH's office!). I've lost 7lb since I last weighed myself! Grin I thought my clothes felt looser!

Millyblods · 04/03/2014 20:38

Hi BBB. Nice to see you Grin. I did the gastric band last April and I find that it works really well at letting me know when I am done. For me its a little feeling in the top of my tummy almost like heartburn and then I know that my tummy is satisfied. A lot of people say they have feeling of heartburn or sicky feelings when they have had enough , just like if you had a real gastric band I guess. Now .....I was initially against the gb as I thought it went against PM rules but I have to eat my works and say that it works. I also find the cd very relaxing especially when I listen in the late afternoon snuggled in bed. Mmmmmm. Love it.
Hows you anyway? What you up to?

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 04/03/2014 23:23

Welcome Rosie!

Congrats on the 7lb Faith!

Just thought I'd offer my two cents on the whole GB thing. I too was a bit concerned at first as don't have masses to lose (certainly wouldn't qualify for a normal band anyway) but thought I'd give it a go as wanted to stop eating even when I knew I was satisfied. Anyway I fitted mine two weeks ago and to be honest I'd say for me it's not like a real GB in that I can override it and still overeat and I'm not eating the minuscule amounts that I would had I had a real band. But saying that like Faith says, I find it easier to follow the rules and I get a much clearer satisfied feeling, but I still have to think about the rules unlike with a real GB where I'd have no choice but to eat tiny amounts. I'd definitely recommend it though, for me it's just a more effective version of the ICMYT trance with the added bonus in your case that he makes you go unconscious so you won't hear most of what he says so that should help with the annoying thing Wink

Millyblods · 05/03/2014 00:12

Well done Faith Yay!!!
NoGood is right, you can still override the gb if you choose to but if I do then I definitely feel fuller as in overfull and uncomfortable. If I stop and listen to my tummy then I feel ok.

BigBoobiedBertha · 05/03/2014 21:06

Thanks everybody. I suppose I should read the GB book. I have had it for ages and keep putting it off.

Been quite good today although I haven't listened to the CD yet. I have been a bit busy for the last few days so not really had a moment. Thursday and Friday are the quieter end of the week this week so I might give it a go tomorrow. I am out on Friday having my hair cut amongst other things. I am desperate for a restyle but don't think I can have the full chop until I have lost a bit more weight. My hair is balancing me out a bit iyswim. On the other hand I am bored with it so maybe a nice hair will be an incentive to get the body to match. It is just a shame that you can't trim the rest of your body as easily as you can trim your hair!!

Well done Faith on your 7lb! That is a bit of milestone, I always think - 1/2 stone - that matters, that does. Smile

ALittleFaith · 05/03/2014 21:19

Thanks all :) yes BBB I feel very positive for knowing I've shed that half stone, especially since I haven't 'dieted' at all, just increased my activity!

BBB I reckon you should read the book and see if you feel ready to do it. It is quite a drastic step but I'm really pleased with it so far. I had a huge breakthrough today. I have a weakness for Cadbury's chocolate eclairs. I mean a real problem in buying them and gorging on them, often eating a whole packet in one go! Today I took some round to my sister's (my nephew loves them). The packet was opened and I didn't have any. Not one. I wasn't hungry and to be honest I didn't fancy one. This is massive for me!

crochetedblanket · 06/03/2014 09:26

Hi Everyone Smile

I didn't realise PM was still popular! I found his book on amazon and it's one of the most enlightening things i've ever read.

Had a breakthrough today. Went for pizza hut at lunchtime with DS, and ordered a pizza for us to share, ate our fill and took the rest home! It would of been so easy to order a buffet and 'get my monies worth'. But I left feeling full but not sick. A real achievement for me. I'm a serial overstuffer!

Also, when I was watching breaking bad last night, there was a scene in a drug rehab group. The leader was saying that if you take drugs, then feel bad about it, you'll just think oh fuck, i've mucked it up already, sod it, i'll just do more! I think bizaarley that can be applied to food too. If i've had a bad day, there's no need to feel guilty, because that just worsens the cycle.

Millyblods · 06/03/2014 11:06

Hi crochet......Welcome!!!Smile

Solo · 06/03/2014 16:22

Hi all. Just popping in as I'm doing really badly atm. Don't know why, but regardless of how many times I listen to the HGB cd, it seems to have undone itself.
I was thinking yesterday that maybe the fact that I can't chew properly has something to do with the inability to eat as I know is best. Straw clutching?

OP posts:
Millyblods · 06/03/2014 16:58

Hi Solo. Sorry its not going too well. So are you overriding it then and eating too much? I personally don't think its down to your braces. Do you have more emotional stuff going on in your head at the moment or are you worried about things? I havnt lost any more since my initial loss and know that sometimes I am eating for reasons other than hunger. Must stop it.!!

Millyblods · 08/03/2014 18:25

So how is everyone doing?

ALittleFaith · 08/03/2014 21:23

Hello! One week, one more day since fitting my vgb and I'm still feeling positive. It seems to have impacted on more than just food. I feel more body confidence, I am happier in myself. People at work have said I look 'well'! I think in part it's because I feel liberated from thinking about food, panicking about rules or calorie counting.

How you are Milly?

Millyblods · 08/03/2014 22:02

That's brilliant Faith...Grin how often do you listen to the CD? I'm doing ok thanks but havnt listened to the CD this week so need to do it. Smile

yippeekiyay2 · 09/03/2014 09:04

Hi all and welcome to the newbies Smile I haven't really been doing that well but haven't gone mad either. I had a bad weekend where hubby was away and decided, right I am going to try the GB because maybe that will help me with feelings of fullness and also with portion sizes etc.
So I ordered it and got it middle of the week, took a few days to read the book through, then I decided to listen to pre-op cd and installation last night, as I went to bed early so had a bit more time. This morning (and in the night when I woke up) I felt a bit sickly/nauseous. Then just had breakfast earlier as my stomach growled quite a bit (this was after my run and shower etc.) and definitely eat slower, smaller mouthfuls and felt fuller quicker than before. I also think I still ate a couple of mouthfuls more than I needed as I have a bit of pain in my stomach...so I think it is working Grin. I am going to listen to it again tonight though just in case exercising this morning has spoiled the full effect of the gb, as I know you shouldn't do too much that day. Does anyone listen to the GB trance every night, or do you listen to other things instead??
Faith excellent weight loss news Grin!
I am still enjoying the running - up to week 4 now and starting to recover better on the walking intervals as well as starting to branch out to longer runs again as well. Hope you're all ok.

Millyblods · 09/03/2014 09:31

Crochet how's it going for you?

crochetedblanket · 11/03/2014 09:26

I bought freedom from emotional eating a few days ago. Its really good!

My biggest challenges are at work when I'm bored at my desk! How are you doing Milly?

Millyblods · 11/03/2014 11:35

I havnt read the New Emotional Eating book . Let us know how you get on with it. I do the ICMYT and find the GB also amazing. Grin

ALittleFaith · 11/03/2014 12:52

I've found the vgb so effective I don't feel I need FFEE at the moment. Milly I've listened to the vgb cd twice in a week and do the ICMYT most days. The combination seems to be working!

Millyblods · 11/03/2014 16:47

Hi Faith. Thanks for telling me how often you listen. I listen to GB one a couple of times a week, more if I can manage it. So glad your enjoying the result of it. Smile

Solo...are you back on track yet?
