Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Welcome GH and Loula!

Congrats on breaking free from SW Loula! Yes definitely just eat til you're satisfied not full, this is something I sometimes struggle with (although just fitted my hypnotic GB so hoping won't be an issue anymore) but something I find useful is to walk away, put the food out of sight (eg in the fridge) and distract myself with something else and if I forget about it then I know I'm fine.

Well done on the 8.5lb loss Solo that's fantastic!

I've now completed FFEE and despite the struggles it's definitely been worth it. Overall I'd say I'm more emotionally balanced and don't find myself becoming as stressed/upset etc. and I'm certainly not turning to food in difficult situations. But I don't find it as useful for managing my eating habits on a normal day to day basis, so whilst I'll still use the havening DVD as and when I need it, I won't use the cd again.

I fitted my GB last night and already seeing the benefits - definite 'enough' signal after just a few mouthfuls, so really excited about this. Just a quick question to those of you with the GB which trance do you listen to on a daily basis? Track 1 of the GB or the ICMYT one? Like I said I didn't find the FFEE one especially effective so want one that'll keep me on track!

MillyBlods · 25/02/2014 13:16

I re install the GB on a regular basis as it adjusts to your specific needs each time you install it Smile

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 25/02/2014 13:38

Cheers *M

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 25/02/2014 13:39

Cheers Milly!

MillyBlods · 26/02/2014 20:31

Hi All,
Hows everyone doing? I have been re inserting my GB every day now for 3 days and its really good. Im much more aware of how much im actually eating again and I find myself stopping half way through the meal and considering if I need any more. I don't. Smile

LoulabelleWH · 26/02/2014 21:24

Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd post because I wanted to tell someone how amazing this woe seems... I have eaten half the food i would normally eat over the past 2 days, I eat when I'm hungry and I'm eating fave foods again. I feel so much better, I had got so used to eating loads of SW free foods) because I was so scared of getting hungry I pigged out at every meal and I had become so accustomed to feeling over-full it had become normal! What a revelation.. I haven't had any tea tonight as I'm not hungry but I'm not worried because I can have it later if I want.

Sorry for the rambling but I feel so good :)

x

MillyBlods · 26/02/2014 21:39

Yay!!!! Go Loula!!!! Well done you. Remember to keep listening to your cd and always think before you eat.....am I hungry, what am I hungry for, really taste and savour and chew it and then STOP as soon as you feel satisfied.Smile

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 26/02/2014 22:27

Yay go Loula!

I'm totally loving the GB trance Milly, I agree I'm definitely finding it easier to eat less than when I was listening to the ICMYT one. I'm eating about half of what I was before, so hoping to see the results on my waistline soon!

Solo · 27/02/2014 00:41

I have fallen off the wagon big time today...fell off and got run over by the wagon wheels in fact!

Going to listen to the cd again tomorrow.

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 27/02/2014 06:50

Oh no Solo what happened? Never mind it happens to everyone, happy re-booting! (Don't you love the fact that all you have to do is listen to a cd, whereas on a diet you'd be frantically calculating how many calories/points/syns you've got to survive on for the rest of the week, knowing you're going to feel hungry and wretched the whole time?!)

MillyBlods · 27/02/2014 08:17

NoGood I think that the GB cd gives you tge edge in that it helps you to re- find your hunger signal again. It enables you to hear the little quiet voice that says...." I'm satisfied" Smile
Solo have you managed to keep the eight pounds off? I find that I can lose a bit then it goes up and down for awhile until it stablises itself. Did you binge or just have too many of those yummy wagon wheels? What did you think of the emotional eating book by the way.Smile

Solo · 27/02/2014 11:11

I don't like Wagon Wheels Milly! Grin.
Weight gone up a bit. Not surprised, but I am angry with myself.
I ate lots of rubbish. Wasn't hungry, but ate it anyway.

Have listened to the CD and before breakfast (and I was really hungry!!), but I might need to re listen to it as I'm not sure it's gone in. Will try to listen tomorrow too.
Had small breakfast and a cup of tea but have not got that sick feeling. It was a very small meal though.

Last week, I visited my Brother. His Ds and his OH have started SW and I cringed as SIL called upstairs to Dn "have you had all your syn today?!" . So glad not to have to do that.

MillyBlods · 28/02/2014 08:03

Solo maybe you only get the sick feeling when you overeat with the band. O and I really thought you were talking about proper Wagon Wheels.Grin

SeasonofTheWitch · 28/02/2014 11:46

Ooooh, I hope you don't mind me hopping onto your thread. It's just that I've literally just written a blog post about 'thinking yourself thin'!

Hopefully it's helpful for someone here: threeprinciplesblog.com/can-we-think-ourselves-thin/

MillyBlods · 28/02/2014 14:25

Hi Season. Thanks for writing on the thread. I linked to your blog and my first thoughts I have to say were that you didn't perhaps understand what we were trying to do but maybe I am wrong there. You are perhaps further along than a lot of us at the present time. We are not overly concerned with "healthy eating" at the moment, which is different to each of us anyway but we are trying to re learn how to eat like a normal person with no disordered eating that has been brought about by emotional issues in the past or dieting. I do eat healthily as in I eat meat, fruit and veg primarly (Im a great believer in Paleo and Primal eating) but I don't want to beat myself up for eating other things that are considered to be unhealthy when I have them. A lot of people on this thread have serious issues with using food as an emotional tool rather than a means of fueling the body and that is what we are attempting to deal with first and foremost.

I believe you can "think" your self anything you like. The power of positive thinking is amazing and people have cured many ailments and changed their lives from it. Hypnosis is an amazing tool to help people by pass the overthinking conscious brain and get to the level it is needed to make changes in our thinking pattern. Of course hypnosis is just deep relaxation but not many people can not do this naturally in todays world of busy busy busy!! I have read many many books on the subjects you talk about and am a great fan of Louise Hay and many others. I think I too would say that there is just some missing link that I havnt found yet that gives me a definitive answer to all my questions but I have spent my life looking for it.

I then read your story and it was really inspiring and then I looked into the books you are referring to in your blog. I then realised that I have a couple of Michael Neill's books sitting on my very full bookshelf (and I was a big fan of his in Satellite City!!!) so I will be getting his book out and reading it now. I will definitely be reading more of your blog and finding out more about The Three Principals as it sounds life changing and I am very into the so called "woo"!
So thankyou for posting.

ALittleFaith · 28/02/2014 14:42

Hello all!

Sounds like you're off to a great start Loula! It's a revelation, isn't it?!

solo, we've all been there but hey, you're back on the wagon now :) ikwym about SW. My Dad's been going for as long as I've been PM'ing and he's yo-yoyed lots in that time. I also wonder how much it's cost him?!

My HGB book finally arrived! I'm halfway through it now. I think this will be key for me. I've found myself thinking I need to follow the ICMYT rules but continuing to stuff my face so hopefully this will override it. I'd been dieting for over 20 years when I started Pauling so I'm optimistic this will reset it.

SeasonofTheWitch · 28/02/2014 14:57

Thank you so much for such a considered reply, Milly and for reading on further into my blog after your initial impression that I'd misunderstood what you were doing here!

When I talk about healthy eating, I mean both kinds of healthy: a healthy diet (which I agree is an individual thing, my body thrives on plant-based food but maybe that isn't the case for everyone) and healthy behaviours towards food.

The missing link is actually a great way to describe the Three Principles and funnily enough, it is the title of the first book by Syd Banks (the founder of the 3Ps)!

It's hard to explain this particularly well in writing but here goes... positive thinking and hypnosis (amongst many other things) are techniques and tools which are designed to change how we think, they can work to a certain extent some of the time and certainly a better approach than alternatives like dieting, whereas the Three Principles simply explains how our minds work.

When we understand this (and it's deeper than an intellectual understanding) it seems to open the door to that place you talk about that hypnosis is intended to access. It's so powerful that techniques and tools are no longer necessary which is why top hypnotherapists/NLPers such as Michael Neill have switched to using the 3Ps.

Please do let me know if you have any questions and I'll keep an eye on this thread and hop on now and again.

Oh and the most excellent Mr Neill has just agreed to be interviewed for the blog so do let me know if you have any specific questions for him :)

SeasonofTheWitch · 28/02/2014 15:00

Oh and I've just remembered this video case study about eating disorders which might be interesting for some: www.threeprinciplesmovies.com/index.cfm/play-movies/transformation-stories/eating-disorders-jenny/

MillyBlods · 28/02/2014 15:14

Thanks *Season". It does sound really interesting. I have linked on your blog to my post in case you hadn't seen it. As I said I shall be reading Mr. Neills book starting this evening (so many books I have on the go). Smile

MillyBlods · 28/02/2014 15:15

Season even!!!

MillyBlods · 02/03/2014 09:38

Hi Everyone
Grin
How we all doing? I myself am doing ok. I'm still loving the GB and am still constantly surprised when I get a little feeling in the top if my tummy that tells me " I'm done". I could over ride it if I wanted but it's very loud and clear. Went to the cineworld with my DH yesterday but before that we just walked around the shops . ( They are an hour from where we live so it's a nice day out), had McDonald's Big Mac and my fave Banana Milkshake. Had half a donuts when I came home cause they wernt brilliant. I prefer the glazed ones myself. That was all as I wasn't very hungry yesterday. Going to do Roast Pork with homemade apple sauce today....yum!!!. What's everyone else having then ? Smile

Solo · 02/03/2014 12:17

Well, Friday night I just could not stop feeling hungry! no idea why! Yesterday was better. Today it's roast lamb.

OP posts:
MillyBlods · 02/03/2014 12:51

Hormones maybe Solo...Roast lamb sounds lovely, you having mint sauce? My lot wont touch lamb as we have lambs and sheep. Smile

ALittleFaith · 02/03/2014 17:03

Evening all (feels like morning to me, I'm on nights!). I inserted my gastric band on Friday night and I'm amazed by it already! I've eaten so much less! We also went for Maccy D's. I don't eat the bun but took a wrap. I finished the burger but not all of the wrap, chips or my drink. Think of we go again I'd ordered a happy meal! Faithlet had some of my chips too. I've also been motivated to shred. :)

solo I'd blame the hormones too Wink

MillyBlods · 02/03/2014 17:28

That's good Faith. As I have just written......I really like the band.
