Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Hello, have been having a very bad week or two and every day I say I'll get back with the programme and yet I don't Sad Could anyone suggest the one, best re-boot activity, maybe I will be able to get into the groove again? Should I go for a trance, or the havening stuff, or just reading? Really want to shake off this mood before I've regained everything I lost.

Onesieone · 12/03/2014 07:48

Hello. I'm going to the Amazon link now to get the book. See if I can shift some of my 5 stone I need to loose. I'm hoping to get as much from this thread as the book etc. thank y'all for ur inspiration xx

Millyblods · 12/03/2014 12:29

Iggi Don't give up....no matter what. This isn't a diet that you go on and off, it's a way of life eating like "normal" . Eating as if you have never had a weight problem, ever. It's because your trying so desperately to stop overeating that's causing the problem. It's almost a diet mentality. Just relax and even if you regain you can some or even all, you know that you can lose it again. We all have set backs and lose momentum, the trick is to not start trying to overcompensate but just start again. Have you tried the gastric band trance? I and a few others find that it gives you tge edge and you feel fuller quicker. If you want to go back to diets then of course that is up to you BUT if diets ever worked long term then no one would need to ever start a new one again, would they? It takes a long time to get used to only eating when your body needs fuel rather than just eating for mouth pleasure. If you have daughters, imagine them on a lifetime if yo yo diets. Would you want that for them or would you want them to have a natural instinctive attitude to food that we ate born with. You can do this for you to and the young girl you once were who started a diet and is now here years later still thinking that the next diet will be the one! This method is body led calorie control and you will lose weight if you can relax and listen to your body. All diets do is force you to eat less by giving you a list of acceptable foods and daily calorie allowances but your body does that naturally. Don't be hard on yourself, just start listening to your cd every day and reread. Smile

Onesie......WELCOME Grin

Millyblods · 12/03/2014 12:31

Sorry for errors....it's sent from my HTC phone which has a mind of its own it would seem Smile

ALittleFaith · 12/03/2014 20:50

Hi all.

Iggi, personally I find reading ICMYT helps me remember why I'm Pauling instead of dieting. Then I like the gastric band to hypnotically get things refocused!

Hello Onesie. You've come to the right place. I really rate the way of eating to change how you view food. Are you getting I can make you thin?

crochetedblanket · 13/03/2014 09:02

I've thrown away my scales taken the batteries out. I need to be kless obsessed and chill out!

ALittleFaith · 13/03/2014 09:24

My scales are still at DH's office. He asked recently if I wanted them back and I said no! I'm much happier without them in the house. I knew I'd lost weight because my clothes felt looser and if I really want to weigh myself I'll do it at my sister's house. Good plan crotched. Do you have the vgb? Sounds like havening might help?

Iggi101 · 13/03/2014 23:51

Millyblods and alittlefaith thank you so much for the very helpful replies Thanks
Well today I listened to the ICMYT trance and did the listen-while-you-eat cd for one meal (mumsnetted during the other meal sadly). So, am crawling back up again!
Milly I will never go back to dieting, weirdly Paul has me completely convinced mentally on the futility of that, just not convinced enough I think that it is possible for me to change, permanently! I think doing one thing each day will get me there - I was drowning with the need to do the trance, the eating cd, the havening dvd and an exercise or two from the book each day, not to mention thinking I should get to the gym! (Which I enjoy, but have little time for).
How does everyone else fit it all in?

Millyblods · 14/03/2014 00:59

I just do the Gastric Band cd a couple of times a week and try and follow the four rules every time I feel hunger. Nothing else. It doesn't have to be too complicated. Smile

ALittleFaith · 14/03/2014 08:38

Oh that's great Iggi! Sounds very positive :) I do ICMYT most nights and the vgb I've done a few times. I'm doing it every few days when I don't feel the full message is quite as strong. Exercise I try to fit in with life - mostly walking with Faithlet (I'm on my feet most of the time at work so count that as exercise!). I also do The 30 day shred when Faithlet is napping/after she's gone to bed because it's only 30 minutes so easy to fit in.

Onesieone · 14/03/2014 19:33

I bought the book. And I have read the first bits. I'm just wondering how does wine fit into it. Is it allowed?

ALittleFaith · 14/03/2014 19:47

In ICMYT Paul says not to drink with meals because you concentrate less on what you're eating but otherwise alcohol is ok :)

Millyblods · 14/03/2014 22:21

Onesie you can eat and drink anything you like. It's not a diet in any way. If I want wine with a meal then I have it.

Millyblods · 14/03/2014 22:24

Sorry misread that...Faith is right, in the beginning alcohol with a meal can distort your hunger signals. But once you learn to eat when your hungry and stop when satisfied then then you will no the difference.Smile

Millyblods · 15/03/2014 00:22

" know " even !

Onesieone · 15/03/2014 07:00

Thanks for that. Day one today. Been up since 5:30 have put hunger scale on the fridge. Let's do this!!!

Onesieone · 15/03/2014 08:00

Ok had my breakfast when I was hungry not as soon as I got up as usual. I have left quarter slice on my plate and yes. I think I feel full! :-) amazing how out of touch I am with listening to my body.

Millyblods · 15/03/2014 13:21

Well done....aim for satisfied not full though. PM says satisfied. For me it's the moment when you are no longer as hungry as you were. Fullness takes twenty minutes to happen in the stomach. Smile

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 16/03/2014 06:53

Welcome Onesie!

Excellent advice Milly and Faith thank you! "Drowning" is exactly how I felt too Iggi I think I'm so desperate for this to work I was just overloaded with all PMs techniques, it almost felt like a diet trying to fit in everything I felt I had to do each day and it was totally backfiring. I was feeling disheartened too after reading all those reviews on amazon where they were saying how the weight came off with no effort etc etc and it just wasn't happening for me. I know PM says this isn't about willpower, but I think I've taken him too literally here, it's like I'm looking for the magic solution which would let me carry on as (what has become my) normal but then hoping something in my subconscious would takeover and I'd miraculously lose weight without trying. And maybe for some people his hypnotic techniques are that effective, but they're not for me, so for me now the only thing I'm going to focus on is those 4 little amazing rules, I'm not even going to worry about listening to the trance every day unless I find I have the time to. And I am going to need to consciously focus (ie use some willpower) to really, really ingrain these 4 rules into my psyche and for these to become my new normal. But I feel like I've had a real eureka moment so thank you Grin

Millyblods · 16/03/2014 12:46

I know what you mean about the "magic solution* Nogood but in the end the four golden rules are what its all about. The rest is just accessories.

Millyblods · 17/03/2014 09:37

BBB where are youuuuu!! and how's it going? Are you still on track re event coming up this year? I havnt been doing brilliantly but have rebooted today.Smile

BigBoobiedBertha · 17/03/2014 11:12

Hi Milly, I'm here! Haven't been on MN at all for over a week. I managed to catch a stinker of a cold - not had one this bad for years. It has more or less gone now except for the cough but they do tend to linger don't they? Added to that, I spent 2 really full-on days on a governor training course as well as being out other days - no down time last week. Not a week I want to reoeat in a hurry! Anyway, appetite was affected so I'm a bit all over the place really.

No idea how I am regarding my target which probably tells you all you need to know - I am avoiding the scales! I don't think I have put anything on but not lost either. Not really given it much conscious thought at all. Very bad.

Sorry things haven't been going well for you either but I am sure the reboot will get you back on track.Smile

Millyblods · 17/03/2014 12:45

Hi BBB sorry about your cough/cold. Horrible things. How is the Governor thing going?
You dropped off thread for ages......did you stop Pauling..Smile ?

BigBoobiedBertha · 17/03/2014 18:47

I haven't been gone that long! Solo last posted about the same time as me too. I posted on the Wednesday and then on Thursday and Friday the sore throat took hold and after that, all through last week it was the cough and cold so Pauling wasn't much on the agenda. Being on the course meant I couldn't do much about what and when I ate anyway and my appetite was very messed up either not hungry at all or absolutely starving with nothing in between which I blame on the cold.

I will try to do better this week. I think I need to re read the books to get back in the zone.
