Welcome to thread 13 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those Christmas outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for Christmas and The New Year!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we wont be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process :) so get stuck in :)

Faith nooooooo! Don't do sw or anything else, you know it'll just make you even more depressed over Xmas when everyone around you is eating delicious food and you're stuck counting the syns in everything. I've just re-booted and got back on track with PM (only on day 2 but so far so good!) Why don't you re-read the book, get back into the CD and set yourself a 90 day review date? Do the mirror technique too, it sounds like you need a good self-esteem boost. I don't know if you're still breast feeding Faithlet, but FWIW I found I could focus better when I stopped as I felt like I had my body back, if that makes sense? So don't beat yourself up, it just takes time especially as your body goes to pot when you have a baby! I've finally come to terms with my stretch marks, varicose veins, Caesarian overhang, but really struggled after my 1st birth.

I've got the app but it's just like a condensed version of the book with the trance and journal included. It has videos of the tapping technique etc as well as a panic button which gives you 3 calming video options, but since I've properly discovered tapping I find I don't use these anymore.

Don't give up, this is only a minor setback, just remind yourself of all the reasons why you loved this WOE in the 1st place. Good luck and a big hug

Morning Ladies
JellyI can't remember totally but I think the tapping works on your meridian lines in the body..Grin

MillyChristmas · 10/12/2013 11:38

Faith it sounds like your unhappy with your life at the moment? How's everything going?

OComeAllYeFaithFul · 10/12/2013 17:26

Hello, sorry for the delay. I had my nephew for the afternoon. Doesn't stop with two of them, does it?!

Milly I'm generally ok. Faithlet is wonderful now, so busy, into everything. Crawling and just started pulling to stand! Generally I am happier just struggling with my weight issues and body image. I started The Shred great guns but then hurt my knee so stopped for a bit. Now my knee is better but I've got a UTI! However, you are all right, I just need to choose to do it. I Pauled my lunch and feel more positive. I just need to restart. CD time tonight. Dip back into the book too. I must get the tapping down.

Xmas Grin
MillyChristmas · 10/12/2013 21:59

So glad you seem a bit more positive Faith It's hard to see things straight when you suffer from weight and body issues. I have these problems to overcome on s regular basis too. It's lovely to hear about Faithlet you seem more relaxed with her now. Smile

SoloXantiaClaws · 11/12/2013 11:42

Hello all! I'm just back from having my braces adjusted and new wires which according to the dentist are the most painful part as they are going to move the roots! sooooooo...I'm probably going to be back on the ready brek/porridge and soup as I'll be unable to chew anything! lets hope some weight falls off!!

How are you all doing?

Be back later...

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 11/12/2013 15:03

Ouch that sounds painful! I really want mine do

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 11/12/2013 15:10

Ouch that sounds painful! I really want mine doing but your stories are starting to scare me Solo!

Day 3 of re-boot and still in the zone. Just wondering does everyone eat every time they're genuinely hungry? I didn't have time for breakfast this morning so couldn't eat when I was hungry (forgot to take something out with me) but then the hunger disappeared until lunchtime. It was genuine hunger too but still went away (hangover from my dieting days maybe?). I have a similar dilemma in the evenings I'll start to get hungry about 9pm but a lot of the time I'll ignore it as I know I'll soon be in bed, is this wrong do you think?

Jellybean456 · 11/12/2013 15:44

Hi NoGood

I remember reading that if the hunger disappears then it is not real hunger.

Apparently that's a good way of testing if you are hungry or not. If you are not sure if you are hungry then you wait to see if the feeling of hunger disappears. If it does then it is not real hunger.

However if you are hungry, and the feeling persists you must eat as you don't want to get into the ravenous part of the scale.

This could also put you into starvation mode, which is not good for the body or metabolism.

I'm pretty crap at waiting till I am hungry to eat, as I am used to snacking and structured mealtimes. Trying to get out of these. Was not great last night, as I fancied cashew nuts and had some. However I did'nt feel guilty about it, as I really enjoyed them.

Plus, I don't want to feel deprived, otherwise I would then binge and eat more.

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 11/12/2013 16:52

Well it persisted a while (around 2 hours maybe?) but just nothing I could do then it went away, it did feel genuine (tummy rumbling etc) but maybe it wasn't? Hmmm...
Although guess that answers my question about eating late at night, stomach may be rumbling, but the fact that I can get to sleep and not wake up famished the next morning, means it mustn't be genuine hunger.

MillyChristmas · 11/12/2013 18:37

Hi

Usually if it disappears then in is not genuine hunger in my opinion. When I am genuinely hungry then it doesn't go away and it continues to grow and grow until I start to feel a bit desperate and just have to eat. Cant think straight and it becomes primal.

Bonnie152 · 11/12/2013 21:19

Hi everyone.

Sorry I suddenly disappeared. Had the news on Monday evening that DH lost his job which came as a huge shock and the worst possible time as I'm leaving my job next week and setting up as a childminder so will have no income.

Obviously PM went a bit out of the window but I don't want to let it throw me off track.

We've come to terms with the news and we're both applying for jobs so just trying to remain positive that things will be ok. Hopefully I can get a bit of supply teaching work to get a little money.

Hope everyone else is doing well, will read back through posts now Smile

Bonnie152 · 11/12/2013 21:26

Faith I completely know how you feel. I had a baby this year too and never expected to feel so awful about how I look Sad I feel I'm in the trap of hating how I look but being too tired and unmotivated to do anything about it. I see so many mums with younger babies than me looking great and it just makes me feel worse. I just need to force myself to get on with Pauling and slowly make changes.

Would definitely recommend the app. It has the trance, diary and videos on it. Although I think the trance is slightly different to the one I had on CD, has anyone else noticed that or am I losing my marbles?

OComeAllYeFaithFul · 11/12/2013 21:29

I'm wonde

OComeAllYeFaithFul · 11/12/2013 21:34

Start again!

I'm wondering if the app would be helpful just because I struggle to find time to dip into the book at the moment. I have the trance on my phone anyway but the videos might be helpful. I feel I've done quite well today, didn't eat in front of the tv, had what I fancied and really chewed. I did the trance last night and will again tonight. It helped that Faithlet only woke once at midnight so I got about 6 hours unbroken sleep! I had a very cathartic tidy up while she napped today (so too busy to snack) and that's cheered me up.

solo ouch I remember that feeling well. I stocked up on tomato soup and ice cream during those times. I saw some dental wax yesterday - that took me back. I've said it before and I'll say it again though, totally worth it!

nogood I often find if I'm unsure like that it tends to be thirst not hunger.

MillyChristmas · 11/12/2013 23:36

Hi
Bonnie sorry to hear about your DH losing his job. It must have been a shock but glad that you have sort of adjusted to the idea IYKWM.
Came across this blog which I found good:
christieinge.com/eat-when-hungry/

MillyChristmas · 11/12/2013 23:39

By the way, I had not read this blog before I posted this morning about the hunger feeling getting stronger for me until it felt primal. That's why when I found this blog I had to post it.

Bonnie152 · 12/12/2013 06:29

Milly thanks for the link, that article is really interesting and has motivated me even more. Looked at a few of the other posts on there too and they are quite useful Smile

Up early for work and on track so far, I ate my breakfast slowly and consciously and left some when I felt full. Lunch is usually my tricky meal as at school I get so much marking that I'm usually trying to get as much done at lunch as I can and just scoff my food. Will try extra hard today to just stop for 5 mins to eat.

Hope everyone has good days! Grin

MillyChristmas · 12/12/2013 08:17

Bonnie will you still be able to go ahead and start your childminding business?

Jellybean456 · 12/12/2013 10:59

Hi All

Just catching up. Sorry to hear your news Bonnie. A lot of pressure on you and your hubby at the moment. And a shame your having to put your childminding on hold.

I thought about childminding at one point, and looked into it. There is so much training involved and expense when setting up. I decided to become a foster carer, and me and hubby have been approved but still waiting for a placement.

Solo - how rotten for you and coming up to Christmas as well. At least you won't forget to mindfully and consciously eat. I've got a loose crown at the moment, and dentist booked up for it first week in July. It's so annoying, and I can only eat on the other side of my mouth.

Milly, how are you? I'm going to read that link now.

Faith- Well done on yesterday.

No Good- I'm going to read that link Millys posted, as I'm also interested in the hunger feelings

Jellybean456 · 12/12/2013 11:34

Really helpful link for me Millie. Thank you:)

MillyChristmas · 12/12/2013 12:55
Smile
MillyChristmas · 12/12/2013 12:56

Jelly you going to change your name for Christmas? I was thinking.....JellyBells....like Jingle bells, get it Smile. lol!

NoGoodAtWittyNames · 12/12/2013 16:45

Oh Bonnie that's awful news, right before Christmas too Xmas Sad hope he manages to find something soon and you're able to fulfil your childminding dream. On the plus side if you can go through all this and still PM, don't think anything will derail you!

I've had a bit of a wobble today, just been overthinking it and doubting myself "am I really hungry", "am I really satisfied". Your links and comments have been useful, so tomorrow I'm just going to go back to trusting my gut as it were. In my darkest, skinniest days I was able to survive on just a few grapes a day, so whilst I appreciate what you're all saying about primal hunger, I also know I'm good at suppressing hunger and definitely don't want to go back to that again!

MillyChristmas · 12/12/2013 20:43

Bonnie your doing fine. !! Smile
