Afternoon all.

Saturday: Went food shopping when hungry. TERRIBLE IDEA. Bought a load of crap. Had pork pies, mini scotch eggs and mini garlic kievs for lunch. Along with half a jug of sangria. Dinner was obviously BBQ ? got to make the most of this weather! Jacket potato, salad and BBQ beef ribs. Went to local pub, felt v. uncomfortable so had a lime and soda and left, upsetting a load of people with my grumpiness at the same time. Bah. Had a glass of wine and half a tube of Pringles when I got home.

Sunday: Woke up super grumpy, had sausage and egg for breakfast. Late lunch of cheese and biscuits, Pringles, breadsticks and dips. Oh and ¾ of a bottle of wine. Then had a gin. Then had half a bottle of wine at a friends house. Then realised it was 9.30pm. Came home, pissed obviously, got even grumpier at it being too late to do anything, like have food. Went to bed, woke up at 3am and had an ice lolly.

Safe to say this morning I felt like shit. Croissant for breakfast, Lunch was chicken salad, I?ve also scoffed quavers and a double decker (oh HI! Self sabotage, haven?t seen you for oooohhh?12hrs). 2 cups of tea and a diet coke down and I?m now drinking water. Dinner tonight will be the lamb we were supposed to have last night. I wont be drinking. I will be going to bed early and hoping I wake up feeling more human tomorrow.

Congrats on that new top wellies Well done on not having the chips either. I can never say no to chips. Ever. Your menu today looks fab too!

Good luck on weigh-in baking

50 wonderful news, definitely worthy of a celebration!

Em Grin I was going to have a mugshot today actually! Well done on fasting even when on holiday! Enjoy the rest of your week, I hope the weather stays lovely for you.

twinklestar2 · 03/06/2013 14:42

Hazel your post made me laugh!!

Bakingnovice · 03/06/2013 15:01

Arghhh. Really struggling in this weather. Feelis like being on holiday and just want to eat nice things!

50 - congrats. I've never heard of tax credits underpayment but so happy for you.

I'm fasting today but really struggling. Starving. Grumpy. But have done the shred at least.

50shadesofbrown · 03/06/2013 19:29

Hazel lol at your post Grin

Well it just goes to show how you should never write off a good week just because you had a couple of (alright a fair few) naughty meals at the weekend. I weighed myself this morning, am 10 stone 12 pounds which means I lost 2 pounds this week, running total to date is 1 stone 10 pounds. Although the chance of seeing me run is pretty low!

Am definitely convinced with this new diet now, am going to carry on with it (I've not even been following it exactly, just the basic principles & getting ideas for meals out of the menu section. Can't afford all those fancy ingredients!)

Onwards and Downwards Fellow Revolutionaries!

twinklestar2 · 03/06/2013 23:15

Today's menu

Muesli, ss, milk, latte, fruit

Chicken salad for lunch

Mixed grill and salad for dinner

A couple of rice cakes covered in chocolate

5km run

twinklestar2 · 03/06/2013 23:16

50 what diet are you doing?

50shadesofbrown · 04/06/2013 07:47

Hi Twinkle I'm doing James Duigan Clean & Lean I saw it in the supermarket & it just seemed easier. So far it is. I'm not following the meal plans though, just the basic principles, which are:
-No added sugar,
-No artificial sweetener
-No artificial foods of any kind if possible (so no e-numbers, artificial flavouring, preservative etc)
-Avoid normal wheat as your digestion breaks it down into sugar really quickly, you can have spelt though (a specific variety of wheat which makes really nice bread)

  • Eat organic where possible - I can't really afford this (who can?!) but would if I could.
-Avoid 'low fat'options- they are not very filling, and a lot of nutrients need you to eat some fat with them in order to absorb the nutrients. If you don't eat any fat you won't absorb the nutrients & will carry on feeling hungry. I do cut the fat off the meat before cooking it though, as DH has raised cholesterol.
  • Try & eat some protein at every meal - this doesn't seem to be a rule in the book but it does seen to be a theme in all the meals, a lot of the meals are low carb but I don't think there are any that are low protein.
  • Eat lots of fresh fruit & vegetables. In terms of fruit, go for less sweet options (as they have less sugar in) & go for thin skinned, dark fleshed fruits as these will have more antioxidants (eg choose a plum or strawberries instead of a banana or pineapple).
  • Other that that it seems to be a bit of am advert showing off his beautiful wife (on the cover) & pushing the supplements but judging by the Amazon reviews, most people don't buy them.

You probably don't need to buy the book now, after all that! There is more in there but it's mostly a lot of 'bad/better/best' food comparisons, ie telling you to swap a glass of wine for vodka & soda water, etc.

It it pretty easy actually, once you get past the fact that you can't nip into the bakers & get a salad sandwich pie but I rarely feel very hungry. Snack on a few nuts or fruit if I need to, which isn't often. One major drawback for a lot of people is that you're supposed to completely cut out alcohol. I don't really drink much anyway so not an issue but I can see it would be for some people. There is no calorie counting & I don't weigh or measure my portion sizes, perfect for me as it's very triggering to measure my food all the time. Oh yes and the man is totally OBSESSED with avocadoes. Which I'm not that into but am persevering with as I know they are very healthy.

Hazelbrowneyes · 04/06/2013 09:28

Well done 50!

So we didn't have lamb last night as DH fancied steak. Steak, onion rings and salad. Nice. Oh and some breadsticks and hummous. Oh and 2 homemade shortbread biscuits. Doh. No alcohol though

I haven't weighed myself. I am firmly in denial, I think.

Today:
B - none but I have a croissant with me.
L - cheese and egg salad - no dressing, just lemon juice
D - lamb, couscous and salad.
S - quite possibly some homemade shortbread biscuits.

The lamb thing is actually quite funny - we'd bought a frozen leg of lamb from Aldi on Saturday and were marvelling at the price "£6.97?! Bargain!"

Yes. £6.97 a kilo so we'd actually spent £16.80 on a leg of lamb. Still not bad but I'd wondered why our shopping bill was so high. Of course, now we can't just throw the bloody lot in a curry as that's a waste so DH spent last night making lamb Madras (which is so effing hot as he added a load of chillies to it) & lamb stew. We also have a big chunk of lamb marinating in rosemary, garlic, mint, etc as we speak. I think it's safe to say I'll be eating lamb for a while.

I am a bit annoyed we hadn't realised the price because there is a load of meat on the joint and we could have left it in the freezer until family/friends came for dinner. Never mind. I now have 4 portions of lamb madras and 4 portions of lamb stew to eat. Good job I like lamb.

Bakingnovice · 04/06/2013 09:33

50 well done. I've been stagnant for a few weeks now. Nfd today so light brekkie of tea and wm toast then saving myself for the BBQ at night. Will try and stick to chicken wm Pitta and salad. Back to two days fasting on wed and thurs and another BBQ on Friday.

Loving feeding the kids outside! Less mess and its jolly good fun.

Emilythornesbff · 04/06/2013 11:01

Great weigh -in 50. Your diet looks v healthy. Well done on doing shred.

twinkle so impressive to be doing 5k run.

hazel Grin that's a good weekend. And an impressive session of batch cookery. Back on that wagon now missy. Grin

baking impressive fast. Sooo tough sometimes. Enjoy your nfd.

I do enjoy fasting but found it tough yesterday evening. Dh decided we should have a bbq. So i had a tuna steak and salad. Had to avoid crusty bread,(with butter [sob]), jacket potato, dressings, sausages, crisps and (as always) wine Envy.

NfD today so i've had coffee and toast with fruit for brekkie and we're off to the seaside [whoop whoop] so i expect to have fish and chips, which is sposed to be fabitty fab up here. Trying not to snack.
Next fasting on thursday.
Onwards and downwards fellow revolutionaries.

Hazelbrowneyes · 05/06/2013 08:33

Did you have your fish and chips Em? Hope the weather is good for you!

I?m back on the wagon. Ish.

Yesterday:
B ? croissant
L ? cheese and egg salad
D ? lamb with lemon and coriander couscous and salad
S ? about 6 homemade shortbread, 1 mini milk, 1 small glass of red wine

Could have been worse I guess!

Weighed self this morning?.8st 13lbs. 3lbs off my target for this date but still 5lbs less than I was a month ago.

I bought a ?slip? yesterday to wear under a new dress. OMG. It?s like an effing bandage. I don?t think it improved my silhouette at all but it does stop the dress sticking to my legs which is what I bought it for. I didn?t realise it was going to be so tight. It?s going to be hilarious trying to take it off after a few sangrias.

Today:
B ? soft boiled egg, half a slice of toast, small glass of orange juice
L ? mugshot Grin
D ? BBQ pork ribs with salad
S ? well there are some shortbread left?

Hope you?re all enjoying the sun!

twinklestar2 · 05/06/2013 09:57

50 - that's the diet that I basically try to do! Healthy as opposed to low fat. I probably stick to it 80-90% of the time.

My menu yesterday:

Yoghurt, fruit, latte, half a croissant

Chicken, coleslaw, salad in a seeded wrap

Fajita chicken in brown wraps with salad

Packet of quavers

twinklestar2 · 05/06/2013 10:00

Emily your willpower is amazing!

iheartshoes · 05/06/2013 16:40

hazel well done on the loss. I would kill to get to 8.13 so you've done really well .
My diet today
B - scrambled egg and crispy bacon
L - bacon and avocado salad
D - homemade beef burger with avocado salad
S - dark choc x3 squares , lots if water . Oh and one skinny cappuccino . Also done a lot of pram walking . Please pretty please let me loose weight this week !!
Onwards and downwards

SAHRum · 06/06/2013 18:29

found you! I've been totally off piste and what was supposed to be a long weekend off to celebrate dd's birthday followed by a weekend away has turned into a 2 week chompathon Sad just when I think I've got to grips with this I take my eye off the ball and hey presto back to eating like a lunatic there's no tomorrow. Absolutely feel like shite and finding it really hard to get back into the swing off it - you'd think it'd be easy in this weather but no! it's gay abandon time for me. Feeling Angry and Sad and Confused ... again.

iheartshoes · 06/06/2013 19:39

SAHRum you can do it. Drink heaps and heaps of water and fill up on veg and protein and good fat , I find that works best for me and stops the sugar cravings. But if you've had a bad few weeks then I reckon as much water as you can will massively help.

B - scrambled egg
L - chicken and cucumber
D - salmon , cauli rice, salad
S - coffee, 4x dark chocolate squares , olives, heaps of water. I've been using a water bottle which I find helps me keep much better track of how much I'm drinking. Not weighed yet but I definitely feel a bit skinnier and my stomach is marginally flatter .

50shadesofbrown · 06/06/2013 22:37

Hello lovely Revolutionaries!

Minor problem may have occurred, it appears that DH may have a hernia. Not ideal with a 13 month old DD & him as main carer as I work part time at present, he is SAHD. So he can't really pick her up, she's a very big girl for her age & very wriggly. Just when things are starting to go a bit right. I'm been trying to be positive but he's the pessimistic type & it's catching! Aargh! Anyway, he is seeing the doctor next week so hopefully we should know soon what it is.

Anyway. I am going to try & make sourdough bread as it's damned expensive in the shops. The starter culture takes 6-10 days to mature though, so I am waiting impatiently & keep going out to stare at it.

Meals today were:
B rye toast with a poached egg & some ground flax seeds, coffee.
L Rye bread sandwich with a cold boiled egg & sliced tomato.
D Chicken with mushrooms, leek, red pepper & Passata with brown rice.
S apple, couple of small pieces of cheese, few nuts.

Managed to do about 20 minutes on my step last night, really feeling it in my legs today. I seldom do any 'real' exercise so they are complaining. They will have to get used to it!

Bakingnovice · 06/06/2013 23:33

Your poor hubby hazel!

Sahrum - don't feel defeated. We all have shit days. I haven't lost anything in weeks! If I don't lose this week ill be at risk of losing all motivation. Just start afresh tmrw. And I think it's harder in this weather to eat healthily!

Em - hope you are enjoying your holiday in yorks. You're v lucky with the weather. Every time I've been away anywhere in the uk it's been gale force winds, flooding, flash hail storms and snow!!

Wellies - how are you?

Twinkle and I heart you seem to be doing so well. Love the menus.

Bakingnovice · 06/06/2013 23:33

I meant 50 not hazel re your poor hubby!

Hazelbrowneyes · 07/06/2013 08:27

Waaaah! Baking! Grin I was wondering what you knew about DH that I didn't! Wink

iheart your menus look fab. As soon as I?m back from hols, I?m starting again. I felt so much better with less carbs inside me!

SAHRum big hugs xx Try not to feel too down, I think we all have bad weeks. I echo iheart lots of water.

50 Fingers crossed it?s not a hernia xx Impressed you?re making your own sourdough bread! I?m too impatient. Menu looks lovely and well done on the exercise.

I?m totally in holiday mood which is having a negative impact on my diet. I also have really bad stomach pains which I?m guessing is down to my change in diet or stress. Gah.

Weds:
B ? soft boiled egg, half a slice of toast, small glass of orange juice
L ? Spicy chicken wrap with salad which was so awful I binned half of it
D ? BBQ pork ribs with salad followed by cheese and crackers
S ? shortbread & about half a bottle of white wine

Yesterday:
B ? croissant
L ? mugshot!
D ? Chicken tikka chilli massala, rice, poppadum, ¼ of a naan bread. Yep, a takeaway!
S ? Ready salted crisps, wispa, 1 double chocolate digestive biscuit, 1 small glass of wine

So REALLY REALLY healthy. I?m so cross with myself actually. Why am I doing this after all my hard work?

Today
B ? soft boiled egg, half a slice of toast, small glass of orange juice.
L ? mugshot
D ? chilli with salad
S ? Who knows?!

I should be going to see friends at the pub tonight but I?ve got too much to do at home ? like pack a case, clean the house, do my nails, etc. My head is swimming with how much needs doing at work and home. Must make another list actually!

Bakingnovice · 07/06/2013 08:54

A list about a list!! Yes do it hazel. I l

Bakingnovice · 07/06/2013 08:54

I love lists! It's stunning here today. I'm feeling so much happier in the sun. Hope you are all well.

SAHRum · 07/06/2013 09:42

thanks everyone for your support, I'm sitting here thinking "just one more day of stuffing my face, I'll start again tomorrow" - said that yesterday and the day before. I've had a headache for the last few days and I'm sure it's because of all the sugar and processed shit I've been putting in my body (not to mention booze) lately and yet still I feel compelled to shovel in half a loaf of bread. I am a bit stressed out at the minute so that doesn't help. I need a goal!

goal for today - log back onto myfitnesspal and start keeping track of food
goal for the week - start thinking about what I'm putting in my body - wasn't the mantra of this thread "my body is not a rubbish bin" ?? meal planning!
goal for the rest of the month - stop being so hard on myself!!!

Hazelbrowneyes · 07/06/2013 10:27

Sun?! Lucky you baking! We've got rain, thunder and lightening! Horrid morning. Meant to be sunny this afternoon though.

SAHR I get a headache due to processed shit too, never seems to stop me though. Excellent goals, love the "my body is not a rubbish bin" mantra. Meal planning always keeps me on track, been quite lax with that recently. Absolutely agree with your goal for the month xx
