Just thought I would start a new thread, seeing as we are perilously close to the 1000 posts cut off!

We have all started WW this January and so far so good, we are all losing. This is a really supportive group. Please feel free to join us and share your WW tips and any recipes that you may have. Smile

Grin MrsX

Thanks Crunchie. That's an a
Axing achievement, good luck with the 10k. I have done 5 'runs' so far, tomorrow will be my last one of week 2. It's been ok, I just can't see myself being able to run properly - I'm going to give it a damn good go though!

It's quite exciting. I couldn't even run at primary school. Now I'm a little it lighter it's given me the confidence to at least try. I quite like the solitude of it. I'm on mat leave and it's reached the point where me running at 7am in freezing temperatures is the only break I get Grin.

I am 30 years old and it's only been in the last few weeks that the penny has dropped. If I am ever going to be able to enjoy the food I like and not be the size of a housing estate I am going to have to do some exercise. Also I have 2 Dses and a sporty DP. They aren't even 2 yet but I don't want to be the one who has to hold the coats all the time because I can't keep up with the 3 of them - that's my main motivation behind WW and C25k.

Jazzcat - my leader says that as long as you follow the plan you will loose. It's just it will be speeded up if you do exercise.

I feel a bit on a deadline because I'm not at work. At the moment I have time to think and plan, can fit in some exercise, am too skint to go anywhere or eat out and even if I was tempted I have tiny ds2 who has put an abrupt end to my already dwindling social life. When I go back after the summer I think it all might be very different.

Doretaball · 12/03/2013 20:43

Crunchie your running story really reminded me of me, except the op. our half marathon times are within 4 mins of each other. You've really reminded me how much I loved it. 10k was my fave distance. Long enough to get into it but not too long to take over your whole life!

I stopped running when I got pregnant with DD1 as I felt so rough and, save for a couple of halfhearted attempts between babies, I haven't run since.

You've inspired me. When I've worked out how to do it, I'll pm you for your running plan. Thanks v much.

Just had a "fry up" for dinner. Bacon, poached egg, mushrooms, toms and toast all for 11 points. Yum! Was only slightly envious of DP's fried egg!

onthemetro · 12/03/2013 20:54

Crunchie you are so inspiring! It was so great to read your post, I'm definitely going to give it another go. And I won't chicken out this time hopefully Smile

Just back from a friend's house, not sure F&H really worked today as we had sushi! But it was all low pp so I'm not too bothered. I had a small bowl of miso soup, and 2 tamago nigiris - should be less than 10pp based on what I could google while we were looking at the menu. Going to have some liquorice tea an an orange and go to bed Smile

DP had a Dominos tonight while I was out, he's doing WW too and bless him he's been hard at work working out how he can fit a pizza into his points! He gets 53pp a day Shock and had porridge for breakfast, 0pp soup for lunch and something like 5 slices tonight leaving 3 for his lunch tomorrow.

I feel like WW is just about teaching you what's appropriate - like don't have an entire massive Dominos pizza to yourself in one night, which is totally what DP would have done before Grin its all about the give and take imo!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 12/03/2013 21:41

Running is one of the things I'm most proud of. You're part of a massive community and it's just great. Grin Thanks for all your kind words Blush

Jazzcat, have you got showers at work? You could run for 30 mins in your lunch hour? That's what I do no a Monday. Better than nothing?

larlemucker · 12/03/2013 22:51

Evening all,
Just joined WW tonight and never done it before so any tips/advice welcome. I'm allowed 37 points a day plus an extra 14 as I am breast feeding.

mama04 · 13/03/2013 03:46

Aibu to think crunchie is the dogs bollocks! Wink I have tried to run before and never got beyond the streetlamps at the end of our cul-de-sac Grin well done you xxx

mrsv2 · 13/03/2013 07:41

Welcome larlemurker...... The key seems to be use all your dailies and your weeklies. Exercise if you can even if its just increasing your walking. Enjoy small amounts of treats. We all love the Hairy bikers dieters book....HD on this thread. Good luck.
I've had a bad week as been away on a family holiday..... Don't want to go and stand on the scales

outtolunchagain · 13/03/2013 07:45

Porridge with a spoonful of honey and a banana for breakfast , hopefully that will stave off the mid morning munchies.

mrsv2 · 13/03/2013 07:50

OMG I have lost 1.5lb..... I really cannot believe it. I had pancakes with ice cream/ cream and chocolate for lunch. Key lime pie, crisps, cake and loads if wine...... But I did walk lots. Shocked.....

AddictedtoCrunchies · 13/03/2013 07:56

mrsv2 · 13/03/2013 08:41

fledtoscotland · 13/03/2013 10:18

Mrsv2 - DS2 had me up at 6 wanting to play but managed to function with eyes shut

Anyway onto the important business - lost 1.5lbs bringing total loss to 21.5lbs in 8 wks Grin

MrsRudyRudpoo · 13/03/2013 10:32

Hello all. Well had my weigh in last night - another 3.5lbs off!! So thrilled, I was expecting to have stayed the same as I dont feel any lighter, so a great surprise!
Just had porridge with strawberrys and nutella for breakfast, soooo good Smile
Crunchie great post, i started c25k before getting pregnant with ds and found it really fun, only did about 4 weeks but even in that time felt I improved. May dust off the old trainers, I have been inspired!
Going to my mums this weekend for my little brothers bday celebrations, got a feeling my weeklies are going to be super stretched!

mrsv2 · 13/03/2013 11:12

KIddylicious apple crisps 1pp a 12g bag.... Sorry DD but they were yummy

CiderwithBuda · 13/03/2013 11:33

Hi all. Can I come back please? Have been so so so bad. Two weeks off basically. And a gain of 4.5. Annoyed with myself but I did have a nice time!

Back on track from today. Although have a cold so feeling a bit rough. Had poached eggs on WW toast for breakfast. About to have a banana. Lunch will be soup and ryvita. Dinner will be gammon steaks and veg.

Would love to be able to aim for the 12 st 7 challenge but am currently 15 3.5 so it's a bit ambitious! But I think 13 7 should be achievable. I would also love to do the C25k. Am a real fair-weather outdoor exerciser though! Far too cold at the moment! I will start using my cross trainer though. And walking to Tonacise.

Right. Off to have a glass of water and a banana and lie on the sofa reading the latest WW mag for more inspiration.

onthemetro · 13/03/2013 11:38

Welcome poker, inquisitive and larle!

My tips for WW... Use all your dailies if you can, don't deprive yourself, measure your inches when you start, don't get discouraged if one week you stay the same or gain because its just how your body works (like my leader said to me once...your body doesn't know you're weighing in on a Saturday!) and if you slip up, get back on the wagon as soon as you can. Oh, and track EVERYTHING! Even if you've had a million KitKats. Often it's not as bad as you think it is. And if it is, you can see exactly how bad it was, and then you can decide whether to try and claw it back by upping the exercise Smile

Well done on the losses mrsv, fledto and rudy! We've had quite a lot of success on this thread, it's great Grin

Have a lovely day everyone x

onthemetro · 13/03/2013 11:39

Welcome back!

mrsv2 · 13/03/2013 12:45

just linking stats thread for people to add themselves / update here

AddictedtoCrunchies · 13/03/2013 12:50

Cideeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrr we mssed you Smile Welcome back.

Just need Sallybear now...helloooooooo???

I've added my C25k schedule onto tab2 of our weigh in spreadsheet. Thought it would be easier than emailing. Doretaball. However as I work for a Swiss company, the commands are all in German which means I can't change the formatting of the date column from US to UK. My schedule starts on 1 May but you could easily adapt it.

Spreadsheet

AddictedtoCrunchies · 13/03/2013 12:51

Mrsv2 you read my mind!!

SallyBear · 13/03/2013 13:45

Afternoon all!
Been more than a little crap lately.... But I've been good re. Low fat stuff, no sweets or takeaways!!

Anyway a little recipe to get your taste buds going!

One Pan Chicken Couscous

Spray oil (or 5ml sunflower/olive oil)
I onion thinly sliced
200g chicken breast diced
Good chunk of root ginger grated
1-2tsp Harissa paste
10 dried apricots
220g can of chickpeas rinsed and drained
200g couscous
200ml hot chicken stock
Handful coriander, chopped to serve

Spray oil a large lidded frying pan, and cook the onion for 1-2 mins until just softened. Add the chicken and stir fry for 7-10 minutes until cooked through and the onions have turned golden. Add the grated ginger, stir through the Harissa paste to coat everything and cook for another minute.
Tip in the apricots, chickpeas and couscous. Then pour over the stock and stir once. Cover with a lid and leave for 5 minutes until all the couscous has soaked up the liquid and is soft.
Fluff up the couscous with a fork, and sprinkle with the chopped coriander. Then eat!!!
