Just thought I would start a new thread, seeing as we are perilously close to the 1000 posts cut off!

We have all started WW this January and so far so good, we are all losing. This is a really supportive group. Please feel free to join us and share your WW tips and any recipes that you may have. Smile

I have a new find for a 3pp treat to share with you : Malteaster minibunnies (on offer everywhere for £1 a bag) have about 5 individually wrapped bunnies per bag. These work out at 2pp each or 3pp for 2 bunnies. And they're delicious.

Whenever a curly wurly just isn't chocolately enough - these are your friend!

Chilly.... I lurve you.... I adore Maltesa rabbits :-)

DebussyHead · 09/02/2013 19:52

Hi can I join please? I signed up to WW online last Sunday so tomorrow is my first WI. Tonight I'm polishing off the last of my weeklies with steak and chips, apple martini and 2 glasses of red wine. Can't wait!

Do most of you use all your weeklies?

My back story is that I've never been on a diet before and always been a slim size12 at 10st 7lbs but had 2nd baby 12 weeks ago and now stuck at 12st 3lbs so my goal is to lose 2 stone. None of my clothes fit and it is tough as my baby is up 3-4 times a night so I am exhausted all the time and crave cakes!

This looks like a great support thread as I'm not doing classes.

SallyBear · 09/02/2013 20:34

Welcome to the group Debussy. Please feel free to read through the first thread to get an idea of how we've all been doing. We also like to cook, so there is also a recipe thread.

Evening All, I cant believe we are on a new thread already. I had my weigh in yesterday and lost 1/2lb. I was okay with this as my period was due and I always retain fluid and also it meant that I dropped below 10 stone which psychologically always makes me feel better.

This next week is going to be challenging to keep within points even with my weeklies. I used up 10 weeklies yesterday as I had flown back to Belfast to attend the funeral. It was a hard day and sticking to points was the last thing on my mind. This week is half term and I have lots of nights out with various friends and DDs birthday to navigate. I am going to try and exercise as much as I can but even with that, I am guessing that it will be an achievement to just maintain my weight let alone lose any weight. Still, I am going to try and eat as healthily as possible, enjoy myself with my friends and family and keep reminding myself that I am in this for the long term and not a quick fix.

onthemetro · 09/02/2013 21:48

Got my period pretty much straight after coming home from my weigh in...nice of it to wait, eh? Haha. I'm intrigued as to how it'll affect next weeks weigh in, as I do tend to be heavier around it. Trying to drink loads of water to flush things out iykwim Grin

Well done on the loss, LivingIn! I had a similar situation last week as I was visiting family and I don't see them often so we went out quite a lot to eat. Enjoy it but don't go mad, I just tried to make healthier choices and avoided dessert and starts...for the most part anyway!

Welcome to the newbies! This thread is great and a big support Smile

bigTillyMint · 10/02/2013 08:32

WooHoo! A pound and a half off despite cocktails, wine and steak and frites on Friday nightGrin Used all my weeklies in one nightShock

So period = no loss for me.

Now have to keep on the straight and narrow till next weekend...

SallyBear · 10/02/2013 09:06

Off out for a girlie day out in Lindon today. So I'm ignoring the WW today. I have all my weeklies to use so I'm planning on enjoying myself, as treats out are a rarity. So I'm drawing a crunchie line for myself and back on the horse tomorrow!

Just marking spot for my comeback tomorrow. Been ill so not Ben very good, but will be back.

NoWayNoHow · 10/02/2013 09:16

Morning all. Can somebody with an industrial sized marker pen please draw a MASSIVE crunchie line for me!,

Dinner with friends on Friday was so much fun, but I had FAR too much wine and was horrendously hungover as a result, so yesterday clearly involved comfort eating all day! To be fair, I have tracked it all and have 2 weeklies left to last till WI next Friday, so I'm going to have to be unbelievably good!

Hope you have all had an alright weekend - cant believe its Sunday again already...

OhTheConfusion · 10/02/2013 12:51

NoWay tomorrow is another day!

OhTheConfusion · 10/02/2013 12:56

I am drank way too much wine last night... but it was so nice! I used up 30weeklies on wine Blush. Had scallops and prawns with salad for dinner so clawed it back a bit.

Have just made a huge brunch for everyone and had 40g of crunchy cereal, nuts, yogurt and pineapple.... not quite a fry up and croissant though!!!!

Home tomorrow so just need to try and be good... weigh in on Tuesday!!!

DebussyHead · 10/02/2013 17:53

So first weigh in today, lost 2.6lbs. Is that about normal for week 1? I read of some people losing 4lbs or more in first week. I did use all my weeklies up. Oh and weirdly my pp allowance has dropped from 28 to 27 after just the first week? Is that normal?

Doretaball · 10/02/2013 19:36

Debussey - I think everyone is different so it's difficult to predict. Some people seem to have big losses when they expect little ones and bice versa. However what this thread proves that if you keep going, you will lose the weight and it is amazing how quickly it builds up. Two more weeks of that weight loss and you will have lost over half a stone.

For the coming week, I'm pledging to work on my water drinking and not snacking on leftovers. These are the problems I've encountered this week. Will reread all you great advice and start the week as I mean to go on.

WI tomorrow too so wish me luck!

Hope everyone has a positive and motivated week!

Doretaball · 10/02/2013 19:42

Meant to say, my points dropped after the first week too. I think we must've both just been on the threshold where points change. I'm not sure where the boundaries lie though!

OhTheConfusion · 10/02/2013 19:46

My points dropped after the first week too... think it is just your luck if you are on the cusp of a new weight/point threshold.

I lost 4lb in the first week but I have a lot more to lose than you (start weight of 15st 0.5lb). My leader said an average of 0.5 - 2lb's is the norm after the first few weeks.

DebussyHead · 10/02/2013 19:56

That's good to know others dropped pp weekly amounts after first week and it's not an error in the system. Good luck with your WI tomorrow Doret!

chillyigloo · 10/02/2013 20:47

debussy I only lost 1.5 my 1st week and barely touched my weeklies. The following two weeks I lost 2.5 each week haven't eaten all my weeklies so i think sometimes there's no logic to it - your body will do its own thing but as long as you stick to it, you will lose weight. Last week, I ate all my weeklies plus the leftover weeklies of everyone else on this thread and I just lost 0.5 but I was pleased to lose at all! Grin

Trying to move more this week and have done level 1 of the shred 3 times but I don't know what to class it as for my activity points. Aerobics?? What does anyone else class it as?

Thanks
chillyigloo · 10/02/2013 20:48

** Having, not haven't!

Stickwithit · 10/02/2013 20:56

Congratulations to everyone on great losses. It sounds like lots if us are working on new habits too, which I think is part of the battle of weight loss.

I'm really annoyed with myself for not keeping control at an all day birthday/ christening today. I managed to avoid the lunchtime party food spread (dashed home for some 3pp soup Blush), but in the evening I had a big helping of chilli on a whole jacket potato, with some focaccia and then a rather large slice of amazing chocolate cake AngryAngryAngry. No idea of the points on that lot particularly the cake.

I so wanted to avoid the cake and bread. They were both homemade, smelled amazing, and had been 'calling' to me all day.

I know that this is supposed to be what weekly points are for, but I struggle to stick to my daily allowance of 26 so sort of need the weeklies for everyday life IYSWIM.

Most of all I really hope this doesn't derail me.

Rant over Grin.

Livinginorganisedchaos · 10/02/2013 21:19

Chilly Thanks for the malteaser bunny tip, I bought a bag today. Far better option than the weight watcher toffee popcorn bar I ate this afternoon. I only ate it because it was free with the WW magazine. I am going to stay clear of any other WW bars as they just taste so synthetic and its a waste of points in my opinion.

Also, I point Jillian Michaels DVDs as step aerobics as I reckon they qualify as intense aerobic exercise. I am doing Killer Buns this month and moved onto level 2 today. That is one hardcore workout!

INeedThatForkOff · 10/02/2013 22:50

I'm back with my tail between my legs after a huge blip. I lost the plot completely this week with two birthday parties and a wedding weekender. I knew the weeklies wouldn't cover it so I just thought sod it, and sacked the diet Blush

The wedding was an eye-opener. I'm BFing and still two sizes bigger than my pre-DC weight, so I had to go for something BF friendly and cheap enough that it wouldn't matter if I wore it once or casual enough that I could wear it again. I went for the latter (I couldn't find anything else anyway). I felt dreadful. It was a very smart wedding but I just looked like I was heading out to work. Despite Spanx and bodyshaper tights, I looked huge and spuddy.

In a comedy moment (it wasn't funny at the time) I realised my tights were falling down on the way to the church (size L but too small Blush) As I tried to hoik them up I ripped a big hole in them so had to take them off, so by now I was fat, overly casual, bare-legged and hadn't been able to find my beaded hair thing to fancy myself up a bit (it's since turned up down the side of the fridge of course). Although I'd spent ages on my hair and make up my face looked normal and my hair went frizzy. Gah! I spent the whole time avoiding cameras and holding DS in front of me as if I could hide.

Anyway, I never want to allow my own self consciousness to get in the way of a family celebration again, so hosiery mishaps notwithstanding, I need to get a fucking grip and sort myself out. I'm planning to start again tomorrow, using as few weeklies as possible. No big events this week and I'm starting to get a bit more free time to exercise.

Sorry for the me me me post. I'm just dropping by quickly before grabbing the opportunity to sleep while DS sleeps.

tennesseyhennessey · 11/02/2013 07:25

Hello, may i join you? I joined ww last march and lost 2st 10lb in 5 months to get to goal (8st 12) unfortunately xmas, lack of exercise and 4 family january bday meals have seen 4lb crawl back on. I desperately want to shift the 4lb and maybe another 5lb taking me to 8st 7. Im only 5ft 2 so this will take me right in to middle of healthy weight range.

My WI day is usually thursday, i have already used all my weeklies after weekwnd away so its going to be a hungry few days on my daily allowance. Chocolate is definately my downfall and i have to have some each day!

backinaminute · 11/02/2013 07:35

Oh forks, how horrid to feel like that. How old is your Ds? I hate the way that my post baby body feels and feeding doesn't help - can't even cheer yourself up with nice underwear (well none that will accommodate these norks!). I think the most important thing is that we are doing something to improve the situation. This is my second baby and I know last time I used being tired and bfing as an excuse to sit at home and eat. This just made the situation more miserable.

I think it's unrealistic to think that we will be able to stick to any diet religiously forever so just start again today. Just think if you weren't doing ww you probably would have eaten/drunk even more.

It's the though of wearing something I want to and not feeling like frumpy 'mum' that is keeping me chipping a way at this. (Not that I've been perfect). I find it hard when I'm tired like now, been up 3 times in the night and dreaming of greasy mcdonalds breakfast. Luckily I have to wait in for the plumber so porridge it is.

We will feel so much better for this even though it's a bit crap now. I think you did well to cope with tight-gate! I would have cried - good to laugh now though Grin

flatmouse · 11/02/2013 08:51

Morning all! Welcome new comers, and some good steady weight-losses going on. Sally hope you enjoyed your day out. Fork :( a truly horrid feeling - try to see it as a positive somehow, that it has focused you to succeed?

WI day today for me, and only 1lb off (I know that's healthy but i want to have lost the weight NOW! ) The good news is that i hit my first goal - 5%, so I've now put in a random goal weight (approx another 12lbs).

Spent Saturday afternoon emptying out my wardrobe - ruthlessly throwing out clothes that were just past it, or that I'd never wear even if i could get into them! I have a list of about 8 items, that i need to loose varying amounts of weight to comfortably wear - so they can be mini goals which will intersperse the rest of my major weight goals. Realized whilst doing that, that although proud of my 10lb loss so far, i have such a long way to go - thinking another 40lbs. Still - I'm a fifth of the way there!

Btw, HD salmon with ginger and chilli was absolutely superb - definitely recommend it. Anyone else finding they are spending a fortune of fresh fruit/veg/fish??
