Just thought I would start a new thread, seeing as we are perilously close to the 1000 posts cut off!

We have all started WW this January and so far so good, we are all losing. This is a really supportive group. Please feel free to join us and share your WW tips and any recipes that you may have. Smile

Managed 4.7 miles tonight in 51 minutes but managed to trip and hurt my foot. Expecting the mother of all bruises tomorrow Sad

Doretaball · 13/03/2013 21:03

Hi Crunchie - hope you're not in to much pain.
Thank you for adding your training program. Think I will start at the beginning and I guess if I have any residual fitness from 3 years ago (perhaps that's wishful thinking!) then I can always build up the running times a bit more quickly.

I'm now doing my normal thing of putting off actually getting started. DP is going to be late home tomorrow so can't do it then. Then we have friends around on Friday so it may have to be Saturday. Can you tell I am the queen of excuses?

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow. I did very little walking today, so need to get some miles in tomorrow to ensure that I have a good loss this week. Being on mat leave does make it easier as I have the time to do this. Will not doubt find it harder when I go back to work in September - but hopefully I'll have reached goal by then and have a wardrobe of lovely new clothes to motivate me!

Doretaball · 13/03/2013 21:04

Agghhh - too much pain!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 13/03/2013 21:12

"It doesn't matter when you start as long as you do." Grin

larlemucker · 13/03/2013 22:18

First day in WW and used all my daily points plus 5 of my weekly and I had a costa and muffin!!!
Pilates tomorrow and mammoth walk planned for Friday. Do I have to use my exercise points or are they an optional extra?

STIDW · 14/03/2013 00:02

YOu can use your activity points but you don't have to and will lose weight more quickly if you don't. A couple of years ago I lost a lot of weight with WW and found I needed to use some of the activity points to have enough energy for exercise and to stop losing weight too quickly. I found there was no advantage in loosing too quickly as you just hit a plateau and over, say, a month or so don't lose any more than you would loosing an average of one or two pounds a week.

This time I lost alright the first couple of weeks but then got stuck and had to stick to just 26 points and exercise for 5 activity points daily to make any headway. Since 10 Jan I've lost an average of 2 lbs a week so thats 18 lbs in total. Now I've got into the habit of using 26 points it isn't that difficult.

Personally I find Costa a bit of a nightmare. You can get chilli chocolate squares in Starbucks or Portugese custard tarts in Caffe Nero for 5 points which is as much as I go for a sweet treat. I can't survive on less than 21 points on protein and filling foods.

STIDW · 14/03/2013 00:10

Does anyone know how many WW points there are in Waitrose buttermilk and blueberry pancakes? I've just ordered some online and I'm wondering if it was a big mistake. Confused

poorpaws · 14/03/2013 00:21

Ive eaten 9 WW rich toffee bars today. They are on offer at the mo so I bought £20 worth last Friday. I should know better, Ive just celebrated being at goal for a year (I still attend classes every single week) but my chocolate addiction is still as bad as ever. Was discussing this on the phone earlier this evening with my friend (we met at WW and she too is at goal weight) and we both cut down on "proper" food so we can eat more chocolate. I no longer drink alcohol (too many empty ppts I found) but this chocolate addiction is getting us both down. I know if I didn't buy it I couldn't eat it, but a year on you'd think I'd know better.

I still maintain its very easy to gain weight, slightly difficult to lose it and nearly impossible to maintain it.

Good luck to you all.

SallyBear · 14/03/2013 06:55

Poorpaws. Hypnotherapy or Neurolinguistic therapy to help cute your addiction???

OP posts:
SallyBear · 14/03/2013 06:56

Or even CURE your addiction to chocolate......!

mrsv2 · 14/03/2013 11:53

sallybear how many pp in the chicken / couscous recipe and how many does it serve......

mrssmartarse · 14/03/2013 11:58

Hello all can I join? Thanks Been on Ww for almost a year and so far lost 30lb still got a lot to lose and really losing motivation! Wine X

mrsv2 · 14/03/2013 12:08

really struggling post binge weekend.....26pp just isnt enough for basic eating, having to use 2-3weeklies a day just to survive and thats with NO snacks. i know i can use my weeklies like this BUT we have a curry lunch after church on sunday and DDs birthday party and our wedding anniversary before next WI.
Going for a walk this afternoon to earn some activity points.
I was very good last night, had a girls night on the patch and i had diet coke and no nibbles despite everyone else drinking wine and nibbling around me.

mrsv2 · 14/03/2013 12:57

I bought yesterday some First cape light wine which says on the bottle 30% less calories than ordinary first cape wine.... Alcohol is 5.5%. Do I just point that as low alcohol wine?? Or how would I point it. Hope it tastes good.....

CiderwithBuda · 14/03/2013 13:12

Thanks for the welcome back guys. Nice to be missed!

Crunchie - hope your foot is ok today.

Poorpaws - 9 bars??? I think you would be better off having normal chocolate rather than the fake WW stuff which can trigger cravings for more. It's the artificial sweeteners. Maybe see if that helps.

Mrsv2 - not too sure. I think I would point it as low alcohol. I have the Bancroft light with soda water if I'm being good and tend have half a glass with lots of soda and ice and point each one as 2 points. I drink it slowly and usually only have one. If I have wine on it's own I tend ot end up drinking the bottle!

Other than an horrible cold I am doing ok. Went for a coffee this morning while waiting for my car to be cleaned and had....... A banana, a regular coffee with a small amount of milk and a water! Felt very virtuous!

Dinner is the HD Cajun chicken and wedges. Just had a whole pot of Glorious Skinny tomato and lentil soup for lunch.

Feeling very blah due to cold so not planning on doing much this afternoon.

tigerchair · 14/03/2013 13:56

Hi everyone, can I join in? Started WW on Tuesday, 11 stone and 5'4" so aiming for about stone and a half off. I did WW a few years ago when dc were babies and I lost weight no problem when I stuck to the plan. Just need to stay focused as when I fall off plan it tends to be a nightmarishly points laden chocolate/wine/crisps feast Blush

Well done everyone on weight losses so far Smile

Any recommendations for low points treats and snacks (still trying to get my head around the new propoints system as I was used to the old plan)?

SallyBear · 14/03/2013 14:01

Sorry MrsV the chicken couscous serves 4 and is 8pp a portion.

Well totally overate last night. Shitty day with DHs car breaking down and then had a tutorial last night I couldn't cancel so DH went to the kebab shop and I had a large donner. Not all bad as it had salad with it Grin. Have no idea how many points but discounting all my weeklies now

Properly back in track today. Am disappointed with the 1.5lbs weigh loss as I really want to make it 2 a week and its only been 1.5lbs for the last 2wks. Apart from stopping snacking and moving more I'm not sure when else to do.

Going to make paprika chicken from HD book tomorrow. Incidentally saw Si King on breakfast the other morning and he looks gaunt. I vaguely knew him 20yrs ago and he actually looks unwell now.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 14/03/2013 14:30

A crunchie line for you Fled. Just keep going. 1.5lb a week is great, I've stayed the same for the last couple and done loads of exercise and eaten too much chocolate

Am hopeful for tomorrow's weight in though. Grin
Welcome newbies.

OhTheConfusion · 14/03/2013 16:25

I went to the cinema and had popcorn and sweets... my body was obviously getting used to having less fat as I now have a rather upset tummy Blush.

onthemetro · 14/03/2013 16:51

Just had a WW strawberry tart yoghurt, it was delicious and only 1pp. Strawberry yoghurt with bits of cake, basically, I love yogurts with bits, feels much more satisfying somehow Grin

tigerchair · 14/03/2013 17:13

I'm only on day two and can't believe how much of a mindless eating/snacking habit I had developed. I am constantly catching myself reaching for something to snack on out of boredom (off work this week so have more time on my hands!). Yesterday was my first day and I ended up using 25 of my weekly propoints because I couldn't say no to a french fancy then ended up having four of them then crisps and glass of wine later Blush. I dread to think what I was eating before as I had been quite restrained during the day prior to this (major) snack attack. Thank goodness for weekly points!! Saving the rest for some wine on Saturday night. I hope I can adjust quickly to the 26 daily points and will snack on fruit/yog now instead of junk! Hoping this thread will help keep me motivated.

Will have to get out running again too after a long break, is it better to 'bank' the exercise points rather than 'spend' them or does it not make much difference?

I have the HD book too and will try out some more of their recipes..made the chicken jalfrezi and it was really delicious.

Livinginorganisedchaos · 14/03/2013 21:58

Just wanted to add to Crunchies comments about the benefits of running. I was a late convert and for many years believed I just wasn't built for running. However, I became friends with a serious runner who eventually convinced me that anyone can run and started taking me out for sessions. I started just running for a few minutes and then walking for a few minutes to recover. I kept at it and gradually was able to build up the running. Two years later I completed the Great North Run. Believe me if I can do it then anyone can.
Since I had the kids it is simply the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to keep fit. I am looking forward to the hour change as I run in the evenings after the kids are bathed and I love it when the evenings are light again.
Also, as I am only on 26 pp I need the activity points for extra food!

poorpaws · 14/03/2013 22:48

I don't know how many of you believe in addictive personalities, I do and I think I have one. When I smoked (years ago) I smoked over 35 a day, when I drank alcohol, I was quite a heavy drinker and now its the chocolate. If I went on to ordinary chocolate I could still eat 9 bars! Its when I get a taste for something I just want more and more and I don't think hypnotising me would help my addiction just maybe make me change my addiction to something else but thank you for your ideas and comments.

Anyway I don't want this to be me me me, so just to say that I am so impressed by all Ive read and you all seem to be doing brilliantly.

For those new to slimming I thought I should add that one of the best things I learned was "fail to prepare, prepare to fail". When I was trying to reach goal if I didn't prepare what/when I was going to eat, I more often than not failed for that particular day/week and I most definitely failed when I didn't prepare for a meal out.

Keep up the good work everyone and I look forward to reading all your comments.

Oh and Banrock Station Light is 3ppts for a 175 ml glass, and thats from WW Head Office as my leader emailed and asked them.
