Just thought I would start a new thread, seeing as we are perilously close to the 1000 posts cut off!

We have all started WW this January and so far so good, we are all losing. This is a really supportive group. Please feel free to join us and share your WW tips and any recipes that you may have. Smile

I had a bag of Maltesers and a Daim bar to use up some weeklies Grin Probably should've chosen something a little healthier because now I feel all sluggish and bloated. Crazy how quickly the body adjusts to a healthier diet!

outtolunchagain · 07/03/2013 15:16

Have had a couple of weeks off due to ghastly cold and subsequent chest infection and have been pretty limp about getting back onto things . But have had a couple of wake up calls this week .

The first is that a dear friend is seriously ill , it just has made me think that my health is to be treasured and not to be squandered.

The second much more trivial but brought home to me how much weight I have put on.Yesterday I tried on a jacket in Next and needed an 18, only 2 years ago I was worrying about being a 14HmmI need to stop this before it goes too far.

So back on the wagon. Worried though because out with friends tomorrow and sat and they have booked for wagamana, which is great but need to check what has the least points.

bigTillyMint · 07/03/2013 15:19

Oh to struggle to use up weekliesEnvy!

But I have managed to avoid eating the cakes that a colleague brought in for her birthday. Well, apart from a couple of crumbs....

OhTheConfusion · 07/03/2013 16:31

HELP PLEASE... I have been asked to go out for Indian tomorrow night. Does anyone know what is low PP's and have a magic way of avoiding nan bread and popodoms (I used to think curry was only something to dip the above in!). Confused.

outtolunchagain · 07/03/2013 16:42

Check the website but I think you need to stick to Tandoori things , also as they don't have sauce you don't need anything to dip in them

OhTheConfusion · 07/03/2013 17:06

Thanks Outtolunch, I have tried to avoid this kind of meal Sad. I might see if they fancy Italian or Seafood instead.

onthemetro · 07/03/2013 17:25

tilly I don't usually struggle to use my weeklies! I think it's because I've had a lot of 0pp soup, leaving me with way too many points left over each day. I should probably add some cream or something, or have bread instead of melba toast with my soup...I have 33pp to use every day so when my lunches go from about 8pp to 0pp it leaves quite the gap!

Confusion, I just looked in the Eat Out book and they have an Indian page. The best options seem to be:

  • Chicken balti, 18pp
  • Chicken ceylon, 14pp
  • Chicken tikka, 14pp
  • Chicken tikka masala - 17pp
  • Vegetable curry - 14pp
  • King prawn madras - 18pp
  • Prawn kashmir - 7pp
  • Prawn saag - 9pp
(they're all without rice btw)

Sides:
Poppadom - 1pp
Chapati - 2pp
Plain Naan - 6pp
Plain basmati rice - 12pp
Plain boiled rice -12pp
Onion bhaji - 3pp each
Lamb samosa - 3pp

Ones that are probably besst to avoid:

  • Chicken dhansak - 30pp
  • Tandoori chicken (half) - 47pp
  • Pilau rice - 25pp
  • Lamb korma - 30pp

They're all average guesstimates I suppose and would depend on portion sizes. I think I'd go for a chicken tikka with pilau rice and a poppadom - that's 27pp, and I'd probably round that up to 30pp just to be on the (sort of) safe side. If you can stick to diet Coke/water and drink lots of it in between mouthfuls, it should help with avoiding over eating. In all the Indians i've been to there has never been much of an emphasis on dessert so that's one less temptation!

OhTheConfusion · 07/03/2013 17:30

Thanks onthemetro, It just seems so much for one meal Sad. I love nan but I imaging the 6pp will be for 1/6th or 8th of a whole one!!!

mrsv2 · 07/03/2013 18:11

Bugger I am that awkward bit between sizes...... Desperate got new jeans as living in 1 pair of size 14s, my between pregnancy 16s hang off me. Tried on the lift and shape jeans in next..... 14 slightly to big, 12 too small and gave me a huge muffin top :-(

outtolunchagain · 07/03/2013 18:21

Mrs you might just need to change style or make , jeans can differ hugely.

Just trying the one pot chicken from this months magazine, haven't got celeriac so have used parsnips instead but just realised parsnips have a points value whereas celeriac doesn't .HmmDo I still have to include points if I cook them in casserole but give dh all when I dish up?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 07/03/2013 18:45

If you're not eating them I wouldn't count them.

Just made HD meatballs and, instead of using their sauce I used a jar one. Didn't occur to me until I ate them that the 40 mins you cook the balls in the sauce actually cooks the carrot and onion. And they're vile with cooked mince but raw ish carrot and onion. DH loved his so he's having it again tomorrow. I'll have dust Smile

backinaminute · 07/03/2013 19:56

Hi all, just had my WI and I've lost 3.5lbs!! Couch to 5k must be doing something. So I've hit my stone and a half and 10% tonight. I honestly don't think I would have done it without this thread. I love it gush gush gush GrinThanksGrin

Started at 14.13. Weighed in tonight at 13st 4.5lbs so my next mission is to crack 13 stone. It is a lot of years since I've seen a 12 at the start of my weight. Keep going folks, tonight has spurred me on even more. I like these little mini goals.

fledtoscotland · 07/03/2013 20:06

Hello fellow WWers! I'm on wk 8 of my diet and lost 20lbs so doing well (if you don't think about the remaining 50lbs to go Blush)

Anyway I seemed to have hit a wall this week. Can't see the weight loss on my although clothes looser, feel demoralised and want to actually see the results it be a size 14 instead of 14s being too tight and 16s too big.

Now down to 33pts a day which I'm struggling with where as when I had 36 points I was only eating 32-33 Pts a day!

Please can someone boot me up the arse and motivate me!

jazzcat28 · 07/03/2013 20:38

Well done backinaminute!!! That's an amazing loss! And you're right, breaking the weight loss target down into mini chunks really helps. I'm aiming for my 1.5st next and then like you will be attempting to bust the next 'stone barrier' so my weight starts with a 13 rather than 14.

Welcome fledtoscotland - we're a successful thread and massive fans of the Hairy Dieters recipe book by the Hairy Bikers (that's what HD means everywhere in the thread). Grab a curly wurly and join the gang! 20lbs in 8 weeks is a fantastic weight loss, try aiming in your head for 24lb so you can hit that 2 stone! Then set the next mini goal.

I have 3pp left for today which would normally go on something sweet but not fancying anything... suggestions?

fledtoscotland · 07/03/2013 20:42

Just having WW bread with a banana (2pts) and a packet of snack a jacks (2pts). Really craving sweet this week Confused.

Think I'm going to make my 28lbs as my next major goal. My leader was telling me my 2st is too far away and I should work in silver 7s. My 10% is only 2.5lbs away which is great.

When will I start to feel "slimmer" though Hmm

jazzcat28 · 07/03/2013 20:49

Oops I meant 28lb (2st)... long day!

mama04 · 07/03/2013 21:48

I don't understand these bloody weeklies? Just want to know can I have a vino or not??? Shock I joined online at the beginning of the week, waiting for books Etc to arrive can't get on computer to read about them coz my Internet is playing up, and I'm on mn on my bloody iphone which is pants Confused oooh bugger it I'm going to have a tea! Grin

OhTheConfusion · 07/03/2013 22:15

Mama04... we don't call them winelies for nothing Wink. 20pp a bottle is the average.

Well done Backinamin... you will be a skinny minnie in no time! Grin

FledtoScotland, well done, 20lbs in 8 weeks is fab! Can I ask how tall you are? I started on 33pp (just over 15st) and am now on 31pp... but I am nowhere near skinny enough to get into some size 16's never mind a 14!!! [sobs].

Bit late Jazzcat but I love my 2pp bags of salty popcorn.

mama04 · 07/03/2013 22:48

Aww confusion bless you!!! I thought I was gonna have to join AA as well as WW GrinGrin x

mama04 · 07/03/2013 23:12

Wait a minute you mean I have been hiding from my fridge when I have 40pp??? Confused I miss my computer, how stupid do I feel right now I wondered how yous lot were having curries and Thai whilst I'm sitting here (wasting away!!) with my salads WinkWink

OhTheConfusion · 07/03/2013 23:22

Mama04, WW (and us lot Wink) seem to find that using up all your weeklies makes a positive difference to the weight loss.

I think when you don't use them your body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto anything it can get incase you don't feed it again... using your weeklies helps to keep you going mentally too! I visited my grandparents today and used up 10pp on a slice of cake Blush... but it was so good!!!

OhTheConfusion · 07/03/2013 23:25

P.s, don't join AA! I have given up booze for lent and feel like I have lost a limb... sadly it appears to be the one that holds the wine glass!!!

mama04 · 08/03/2013 00:44

[Giggling in bed @ "you lot"]

Seriously though I feel so relieved to be able to chat to others that are going through this! Grin Happy I've found Mn this month, happier I finally am trying to do something about this arse, and happiest I found this thread Wink night night girlies [hiccups] x

fledtoscotland · 08/03/2013 06:41

Ohtheconfusion - I'm 5'10 and started at 16st 5.5lbs BlushBlushBlush now 14st 13.5lbs. My goal is 11st 2lbs which seems a long way off.

I'm trying to walk to and from school every day and generally be more active. I make lots of 0pts soup too

NoWayNoHow · 08/03/2013 08:05

Morning all! Welcome newbies and congrats on everyone's losses!

WI this morning for me 0.7lbs off - BIG. WHOOP.

Not massively pleased, getting really bored with the small losses I'm having, especially after weeks like this one where I had 39 of my 49 weeklies, all over last weekend, and have stuck religiously to my 26pp every day since.

I know a loss is a loss, but I was really hoping to have hit goal by the end of March after 3 months on WW - I'm going on holiday, and at the beginning of the year I had 19lbs to lose, so genuinely thought it would be achievable over 13 weeks. Doesn't look like it's going to happen Sad Sad as I still have 9.5lbs to go Sad Sad

Sorry, just feeling a bit self-pitying and a little aggrieved that I'm trying so hard and being so good and I'm just not getting the results. Sad
