Just thought I would start a new thread, seeing as we are perilously close to the 1000 posts cut off!

We have all started WW this January and so far so good, we are all losing. This is a really supportive group. Please feel free to join us and share your WW tips and any recipes that you may have. Smile

bigTillyMint · 24/02/2013 20:53

19 pointsShock!!!

GingerLemonTea · 24/02/2013 21:16

Have been off the wagon Friday & Saturday and haven't pointed today. I have until WI Wednesday to undo the damage. Hoping it wont be too bad, but keen to get right back on it tomorrow.

You are all keeping me inspired!

flatmouse · 25/02/2013 08:27

Wow, some great losses over the last few pages - too many to name and praise - well done all !!
Good day for me too - a little shake up this week (More relaxed and using a few weeklies most days instead of loads at the weekend), sees me with a 2.2lb loss this week - i'm now 0.8lb off my first stone and 0.9lbs off getting into the 12s (can't wait :) - although i feel obliged to add that that is the 12 stone somethings and not size 12 clothes)
Did HD Chicken Jalfrezi on Saturday night - absolutely delicious (only 4pp per serving as only used two chicken breasts not four). If i were to do it again, i'd cut down on the chillies - 6 was a step too far ;-) Had it with cauli-rice (except i googled and followed plan to dry fry it and it was more like cauli-couscous). Nice enough - not on it's own - but once mixed in with the jalfrezi i certainly didn't miss having rice/naan.

flatmouse · 25/02/2013 09:12

Maths never was my strong point! 2lbs off the 12s

SallyBear · 25/02/2013 09:33

Dd a sneaky pre- WI. Yikes. Back to F&H for me. No more of this daily counting business, as I obviously can't be trusted!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 25/02/2013 12:00

Sally you know it works for you Smile

I had a bit of a 'counting free' weekend but am back on it now. Forced myself out for a run last night and did 3.4m and am going to go again later. I WILL be 14 stone by Friday.

NoWayNoHow · 25/02/2013 13:54

Hey all!

Gosh this thread moves fast! I don't think I'll be able to catch up on over a week's worth of posts, but suffice to say... Hello to all new peeps, and congrats to all losers, and commiserations to those with gains.

I'm slowly but surely on the mend, but it was a bit of a scare. My body doesn't really know what it's doing sans gallbladder so I'm playing it by ear with what I'm eating and keeping a food diary to see what I can and cannot cope with.

I am starting back on PP tracking today as well as I think that will help nutritionally too... Bought the HD recipe book on sale at Sainsburys so trying the Spanish-style chicken bake tonight, and trying the Cajun chicken and wedges, jambalaya and salmon with chilli ginger for the rest of the meals this week.

How did everyone get on this half term?

CiderwithBuda · 25/02/2013 15:18

Hey NoWay! Welcome back. Hope you are feeling better and not too much like you have been run over by a bus! I highly recommend the HD salmon but haven't tried the other ones you mention. I quite fancy the Spanish style bake. Might try that this week.

Sally - if it ain't broke don't fix it - you like F&H and it likes you.

I'm struggling today. Was planning a fast day but couldn't face it. Weighed myself and haven't lost anything this week which didn't help. Official WW weigh is tomorrow.

Went shopping in Exeter today. Have only been once before so had a Good wander around. Had lunch in Costa - egg Mayo sandwich and a cake. Haven't worked out points yet. Planning a veg stir fry tonight so should manage to stay within my points. I think I will have cauliflower rice with it.

On a happy note I had a look at some Mint Velvet clothes which I have never been able to fit into and I managed to find two size 18 tops which fitted! Happy dance!

Doretaball · 25/02/2013 23:32

Hello everyone! Was lurking last week, didn't really point but tried not to overdo it and I managed to lose a pound. Am thrilled to bits because the lessons that WW teaches us, like better food choices and smaller portions, are abviously going in!

So that's a total of 1st and 1/2lb since beg Jan.

Am back on the pointing today and have had a good day, just used 4 of my weeklies on the last sausage in the pan. Should've popped it on to DP's plate but I couldn't resist!

I have 9lb to lose until I'm in the 10s. Haven't been that light for about 15 years! Feels like an achievable goal so am feeling motivated. Mind you, I always feel motivated on a Monday!!

Stickwithit · 26/02/2013 08:06

That's great Doret, it really shows how the sensible food messages are helping.

I'm managing to stick to plan well during the day time. However, I'm snacking like a trooper just before bed. It's like a just can't resist- rather than just going up the stairs to bed I cram a few biscuits in BlushAngry. Last night I even got half way up the stairs and went down for some more. It's so stupid because I'm sabotaging my good efforts. I'm furious at my lack of will power. Maybe admitting it here will help.....

Doretaball · 26/02/2013 09:06

I struggle with that too, Stick. When I have any will power at all, I try to drink decaf coffee, then at least I'm having something. Sometimes I'll add a little sugar to try and beat that need for sugar.

A ww leader would probably tell us to save some points for those biscuits, but that would never happen in my house and it also wouldn't cover the extra biscuits that accidentally found their way into my mouth as I was getting out the pointed biscuits!!

My easy answer before having a family was not to have them in the house but that's not so easy now I have 3 other people to consider!

Stickwithit · 26/02/2013 10:29

Glad I'm not the only one Doreta. As uou suggested, not buying the stuff in the first place would be a good plan, but now we have DC it's not very practical. I've attempted minimise the amount of sweet stuff in the house, and bought things that I'm less keen on. But when the bedtime snack monster gets me I'll happily munch anything remotely treat likeBlush.

Sounds drastic but I might even bundle it all into a tin and give it to DP to look after in the evening. Although as he is working away this week that won't help.

Maybe someone should invent a time controlled padlock- that way I could lock it all away and wouldn't be able to get to it at my weak times.

Stickwithit · 26/02/2013 11:56

Planning to try making HD meatballs tonight, to refrigerate and eat on Thursday. Any tips ladies?

CiderwithBuda · 26/02/2013 13:32

Weigh in day. Gained a pound. Gah.

No more messing about with fasting or anything else. Just back to basics - planning, tracking and activity. I have been rubbish at exercise.

Stick/Doret - I went to bed at 8.45 last night as I was getting the munchies and knew if I started I wouldn't stop! I'm not normally too bad in the evening unless I have too much wine. No wine last night but still munchy. If you do know that is a bad time for you I think you need to factor it in. Otherwise you are likely to go into 'oh sod it' mode. Or is that just me?

chillyigloo · 26/02/2013 14:40

Weigh in this evening and I'm fully expecting a gain as I've had a rough week with illness and gave up ww for the week. A bit of retrospective counting puts me over my dailies AND weeklies by about 40pp Blush but am all geared up to jump back on the wagon.

Has anyone tried any of the "Eat Water" range of pasta, rice and noodles or the Zero noodles? Both brands are available at Holland and Barrett as health foods - they're made (I believe) from vegetable fibre and have the consistency of pasta/rice/noodles, basically whatever they've been 'formed' into but no taste so you have to get your flavour from whatever it's served with. At about 7 calories per portion, they work out at 0pp or 1pp for the zero noodles.

I do miss my carbs, so I'm thinking they may be a good substitute but thought I'd put some feelers out there 1st in case they're terrible!

Stickwithit · 26/02/2013 14:44

Good luck for your WI Chilli. The pasta and noodles with low PP sounds very very interesting.

Sorry about your WI Cider, I guess the important thing is to keep going and you may well find you get a better result next week.

Going to bed is a good way to avoid the munches, might give it a go. Although I think it might take immense willpower to bypass the kitchen on my way to bedGrin.

onthemetro · 26/02/2013 15:32

Sorry about the gain, Cider. Hop back on the wagon and try not to let it get you down Smile

I have been known to go to bed when I get the night time munches. It happened last night, in fact...did mean that I was complaining about being hungry for about half an hour before sleeping but DP didn't mind we talked about Dominoes instead Grin

I'm pretty pleased at how I avoided temptation yesterday...we went to see Girls Aloud and managed just to buy a bucket of Diet Coke (they are bloody huge!) each when others were buying pizzas, hot dogs, chocolates and big huge cups of beer. We had gammon and new potatoes just before coming out and I was full so...yay for forward planning and being sensible Grin

I still feel a bit miffed at my efforts this week after my little chocolate binge after WI on Saturday, and even though I've been good since then I can't shake the feeling that I haven't. It's very odd

mrsv2 · 26/02/2013 16:37

well done to all the losses and sorry about your gain Cider.....i had a sneaky peak this morning and it wasnt looking good. even though i stuck to dailies except for my meal out on Sunday but i did have all my weeklies and 10pp from my dailies. I know i didnt have the healthy choice but i did have 59 points to spend.
We are having the HB cassoulet for tea.....but DH had frozen all the chicken thighs so i have had to add all 8 into it ( the rest has been halved) as we go to mums tomorrow for a few days so that is not good either. have 14pp left for today but i reckon its about 20pp. Bugger. Oh well lets hope for a big poo before weigh in :)

AddictedtoCrunchies · 26/02/2013 17:09

stickwithit - I've just made the meatballs and the trouble I find is that they fall apart when you cook them. so I suggest you squeeze them really tight before you cook them.Grin
They are bloody lovely though Wink

OhTheConfusion · 26/02/2013 17:22

Weigh in day today and following last weeks missed meeting and concert blow out I am over the moon with 2.5lbs off! Well done on the loses and straigh back on it Cider... we all have bad weeks!

Stickwithit, I get the munchies at night and have been trying to use 6pp for breakfast, 8pp for lunch, 2pp snack + fruit during the day leaving 16pp (I get 32 a day) for dinner and snacks in the evening. Have found 2 cream crackers and 30g of low fat cheddar is a good supper with apple or grapes (4pp using sainbro low fat mature cheddar).

Also discovered (by accident) that if you are silly enough to do the housework early in the morning (7.30am on Sat!) with the heating on high, wearing pj's and dressing gown.... you sweat buckets Blush. I sewar it was more of a work out than the shread Wink.

mrsv2 · 26/02/2013 19:13

I only get 26pp a day so no room for any munchies. 4pp on milk a day leaves 22 for food

mrsv2 · 26/02/2013 19:19

For others on 26pp how do you divide your day. I do 3pp for cereal in the morning, lunch 5-7pp and the rest for evening meal. Any treats or yoghurts etc has up come out if weeklies. I need around 12pp for my evening meal else I'm hungry, I'm not an evening snacked but struggle late morning and mid afternoon

OhTheConfusion · 26/02/2013 19:19

MrsV, perhaps spread your weeklies out during the week? I feel like I have HEAPS of points right now... think I will drop another PP soon though.

Livinginorganisedchaos · 26/02/2013 20:54

Evening everyone, like some on here I am also struggling this week. Spent all weekend off the wagon but have managed to stick to dallies the last couple of days. Stresses have home have meant I have not been able to exercise as much as I normally would like so I am trying to prepare myself that I am unlikely to see a loss this week.

However, although it has not been a great week, I still feel motivated everytime I see myself in the mirror as I can see the difference compared to Christmas. I just keep reminding myself that as long as I dont give up, the weight loss will gradually continue and I will get there in the end.

My top tip for evening snacks is popcorn, tasty and low in points.
