Just thought I would start a new thread, seeing as we are perilously close to the 1000 posts cut off!

We have all started WW this January and so far so good, we are all losing. This is a really supportive group. Please feel free to join us and share your WW tips and any recipes that you may have. Smile

backinaminute thats how i point recipes....point any ingredient that is pointed, dont worry about the others and then divide total by the number of portions. if you use WW online it has a recipe pp maker in it so you can add your recipes and it stores them for you.

SallyBear · 21/02/2013 09:03

That's exactly what I do and then divide per serving. I try to adjust the fat where possible for a reduced option or an oil spray. I never use a sugar substitute though.
With the stew the dumplings made with Atora Light suet is roughly 7pp per serving. I'm not a fan of dumplings as I had bad school dinner memories but if you are able to finish it off in an oven..... They are delicious with this stew and then you don't need to eat a potato with them if you are being good!

Another pound off this week, taking me to 10.5 in 6 weeks. This week will be tough. I have a girls night fri, an all day hen do Sat & a hangover Sun. If there's a week I will come undone it's this one. Trying to think of next Wed & stick with it.

SallyBear · 21/02/2013 09:51

Can you drive on Friday night and then save your booze points weeklies for Saturday?

OP posts:
mrsv2 · 21/02/2013 10:32

Or mix a glass of white wine with fizzy water. Do this yourself so 1 glass lasts 2-3 drinks.

jazzcat28 · 21/02/2013 11:40

ginger I survived a hen do last weekend by alternating each alcoholic drink with a diet coke. I stuck to vodka diet coke (1pp) and so it looked like I was still drinking when I switched to just diet coke.

Worked wonders for the hangover too! Maybe try that for the girls night on Fri so you have more winelies weeklies for the hen do Saturday?

mrsv2 · 21/02/2013 13:46

I have just eaten a sandwich for the first time in 2.5weeks. Oh how I have missed bread. Now have 12pp left for the rest of the day

SallyBear · 21/02/2013 14:53

MrsV have you tried Hovis Nimble? 1pp a slice and its ok.

OP posts:
mrsv2 · 21/02/2013 15:46

I haven't tried any bread..... Just stick with the burgen soya and linseed loaf that I discovered was the best bread when I had GD. It's a low GI bread. Yummy but 3pp a slice.

SuzySuzSuz · 21/02/2013 17:04

Doh! That'll teach me to not check properly Blush bought prawn layered salad from M&S, eating out book says 5 pp, excellent me thinks, lovely munchy for lunch then had to grab some milk on way home, saw on a different shelf the smaller tubs of prawn layered salad which are the 5 pp, I'd bought and eaten the '2 serving' tub so was actually 10pp Blush

Hey ho, still better than the stodgy but yummy sandwiches and treats that we're provided in the meeting!

backinaminute · 21/02/2013 17:09

Oh my God! I miss bread. That Soya and Linseed is amazing.

Have to say I had a pretty awesome sandwich for lunch - wholemeal pitta, philli with grilled peppers and 2 portions of wafer thin chicken - some rocket, sliced lovely tomatoes and rocket. 7pp and delish.

I've tried to stay away from proper bread as I struggle to regulate the quantities...... But have found pittas, wraps and bagels good substitutes. I could unite easily incorporate some kind of bread into every meal.

HD cottage pie for tea tonight. Made 2 at once and stashed one in the freezer which we are having tonight. Feeling quite proud of my organisational skills for once.

The flavoured philidelphia lights are a bit of a revelation. I've been pointing it as medium fat soft cheese as can't find them on the app - they are brilliant (if a bit processed).

mrsv2 · 21/02/2013 18:36

Backinaminute... I point the Philly light with chilli as 1pp per tablespoon.

GingerLemonTea · 21/02/2013 18:38

Thanks for all the suggestions.
The Friday night is a wine & nibbles night, but am going to take it easy due to the hen do next day & have very little or no dinner because of nibbles.

Jazz at, pretty sure vodka is 2pp, but there's champagne & cocktails in the go. Eek!

SallyBear · 21/02/2013 18:48

Made a off the cuff type dinner tonight. Fingers crossed its ok. Chicken thighs with bacon, mushrooms, peppers, onion, garlic, cannellini beans in tomatoes with smoked paprika and stock. Serving with new potatoes and peas. Bread in the larder incase its horrible.

Well I spent my afternoon batch cooking between games of this little piggy with DD2!

I made a filling pot of chicken and brown rice soup (3pp a portion). It really is a meal in a bowl! Sally's beef stew (everyone loved it, thanks!). A huge pot of ratatouille to freeze half and make the other half into veg and feta tart tomorrow. Sausage casserole with sweet veg and I roasted some rhubarb and apples to serve with low fat custard or yogurt.

Jazz are you sure vodka is 1pp? I have been counting 2pp for a 25ml serving.

jazzcat28 · 21/02/2013 21:21

Ooops you are right - vodka is 2pp.... Fingers crossed a brisk walk will burn enough activity points ahead of my Saturday weigh in Blush

Sorry ladies!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 22/02/2013 07:35

Weigh in this monring and I've lost 2lbs so that means I'm only 1lb heavier than before I went on holiday. 14.2 now so aiming to get to 13 something by next weigh in. Smile

Eggs, bacon and toast for tea. Yum.

Thanks Addicted Smile

Hi all, I'm still here Grin. WI today, 2 weeks since my last WI. 0.5lb gain which after the fortnight I have had is unbelievable (night away inc 'all you can eat' buffet complete with chocolate fountain, huge breakfast, trip to London for drinks and 3 course meal to celebrate friends 40th, 2 parties with yummy food and cake. I was sensible on the days in between but did eat well over my points allowance both weeks.

I'm determined to get back on the wagon from today.

Well done to everyone on your losses. This is a lovely thread. I am motivated to find people who can loose weight while still enjoying food.

I bought the WW cookbook in a meeting earlier. Our leader passed it round, supposedly to show us inspirational lunch ideas. I immediately thought it was a bit of a cheap trick aimed to tempt us into buying the book. Only I fell for it BlushAngry, looks quite good though.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 22/02/2013 17:08

Not bad at all then considering what you've been up to. Sometimes you just have to do what's needed to get through it and then deal with the aftermath.

I'm so happy we're still going strong. We had choc cakes at work today and I had one. Looked it up and it was 4pp which was a lot but I could manage it in my dailies. I thought about having another but then I thought of explaining a gain to you lot next Friday in I didn't. Small thing but major milestone. Grin

Just wish I wasn't in damn cold Sad

SallyBear · 22/02/2013 23:47

I've just been to a Chinese Buffet. Everyone else stuffed themselves with four courses, I had a few starters and duck in a lettuce wrap. I didn't enjoy it at all tbh, but I was with mums from school and it was their choice. It was difficult to pick anything, as everything and I mean everything was deep fried. I think I will choose next time, something a bit easier to point like Pizza Express!

Ive been out with mums from school too Sally. Italian though. Think I got away with it as I have just projectiled it towards the downstairs loo. I say towards as the door was shut and it has an awkward handle. Not pretty. I ordered pasta with goats cheese and olives. It was not what I was expecting. I did feel it just sitting three, not digesting. Sorry if TMI. Just spent half an hour cleaning up.

I can't even blame the wine as I didn't have much! Max 3 glasses.

SallyBear · 23/02/2013 07:12

Ewwww Cider! That doesn't sound appetising in the least! Hope you feel better now sweetie.

Morning everyone, its good to see how well everyone is doing. I had my weigh in yesterday and was delighted to have lost another 1 1/2 pounds.

Just sitting here this morning doing my weekend pointing of shame after another night using up my weeklies. An old friend came to visit last night so we ended up with chinese takeaway and then working our way through the wine rack whilst catching up and watching old movies. I am finding it best to just point everything after a night off like that as then I dont start feeling guilty that I have failed at the diet and fall into my emotional eating vicious circle. If I point it all and take it out of my weeklies then I can see that as long as I stick my dailies the rest of the week then I am still on track.

Stick I think you did brilliantly to have such a fab time and enjoy yourself with such a small gain. This is real life and we will all have weeks like that and it is a definite achievement to not gain more.

Addicted and Ginger well done on your losses
