notyummy I'm continually impressed at your level of fitness especially considering your surgery and back problems - if you are finding Killer L2 not too strenuous then you must be sooo fit.
knotty well done for exercising 6 out of 7 days! That's great!

I had a riding lesson yesterday and can really feel the benefit of having a stronger core - yay!
Today I'd brought a lot of work home but decided to do 6w6p L1 first and mess around on the internet while cooling down. So glad I did as I feel much better for doing it, the exercise cleared my head a bit so I can concentrate on work later on.

notyummy · 04/09/2013 22:28

Ponks- it's more the cardio/sweaty element that I don't get until the very end of Killer (until the lateral hop/star jump combo.) That's not to say that I can't feel it at all- the goddess pose into squat thingies def burn- as do the jumping lunges!

threestepsforward · 05/09/2013 09:50

I'm like Kevin the Teenager by the time I get to the jumping lunges Grin

Grin that's a great image, 3steps.

Well the start of the week was a write-off exercise-wise due to the hard time we've had getting ds back to school (a whole other thread). But managed a L1 6w6p this morning. Am I the only one who finds L1 harder than L 2. It's because it's harder in the shoulders, with more plank stuff, whereas L2 is harder on the legs. I find all my worst Jillian moments are shoulder-related! Grin

Good work all, sorry not to name-check everyone but sending you all positive vibes. Smile

threestepsforward · 05/09/2013 21:39

Aw Jackster, sometimes life goes a bit awry and all the best made plans and all that. Hope all's okay with school and your ds... Well done for getting a 6W6P under your belt :) I couldn't contribute to discussions on 6W6P as after doing it once or twice, Ive never been back to it again - too darn fast Grin

Speaking of plans going awry...I didn't manage to do L2 Killer today as I felt low blood sugary again when warming up and just couldn't make it happen :(

But, to make up for this, I will be doing L1 and L2 S&S tomorrow and then killer at the weekend, so it should balance out...

Don't feel too bad about today as my heart was in it, just not my body lol

Will check in tomorrow, hope everyone's well x

threestepsforward · 06/09/2013 17:46

Double S&S done, woop woop Grin

It's not so much hard as it is long! I think I find L2 easier than much of her other stuff, it's just putting the 2 together that makes it a challenge. Hardest for me are the hip heist press ups - I basically tie myself into a knot, attempt a push up and untie myself again, and repeat. Never mind, feeling goooooood now :)

Have a great weekend everyone. I shall be doing at least one Killer, 2 if I can manage it time-wise...

Bye for now :)

OP posts:
Jacksterbear · 06/09/2013 21:42

Nice one 3steps. I've only done L2 once but found it very hard. And those hip heists just completely baffled me! Confused

Plan to workout tomorrow and Sunday to meet my minimum quota of 3x a week! Don't know what yet- maybe L2 6w6p and a taebo.

A pleasing ache in my obliques today from yesterday's 6w6p L1!

Happy weekend all x

notyummy · 07/09/2013 18:21

Well done on the double shed and shred!

I managed 40 mins on the cross trainer and Callanetics yesterday. Lots of wine and more carbs than I generally eat in a week last night at friends may have negated it slightly. However didn't have hangover (hurray!) so managed NMTZ. Day out at Twycross Zoo tomorrow but hope to fit in Callanetics at random moments, and perhaps 30 mins in cross trainer when I get back. DH spending 6 months in Afghanistan means I need to be very focused time wise! Working at home on Monday so hope to do power walk and L3 shred. London for work meetings all day Tuesday and Wed so exercise opps v limited...

notyummy · 07/09/2013 21:52

At the risk of appearing like a smug weirdo, I have uploaded a bikini shot that I took to send to my friend (it was to show the bikini to see if she wZnted it....and them I realised that I was quite proud of the pic!) For a nearly 42 year old who has always been a fairly wide arsed pear shaped, I think I am looking better now than in my 20s and I guess it is mainly down to Jillian! Will take the shot down shortly but just wanted to say that it does work.....

(Oh, and I can't get it to go the right bloody way up!)

threestepsforward · 07/09/2013 22:02

What did you go for in the end Jackster? L2 6W6P is my ultimate nemesis, so much so that I never do it! Maybe I ought to revisit the DVD - it's been years since I've been near it!

Hey notyummy! Well done on NMTZ ... and not having a hangover! I'm sure you'll fit your exercise schedule into your London work commitments :)
Wow, your DH is away for 6 months? That must be so tough for you. Am I right in remembering you said he's in the forces?

Just checking in to report L2 Killer done! So weird, after being left in a heap previous times, I breezed through it today Hmm Used 2.5 kg for jumping lunges and 3 kg for all other weight bits and I didn't phone it in.
I think the weather is the reason and the few degrees lower has made a big difference in how difficult my workout seems

Will try and fit something in tomorrow but have a friend round in the afternoon so may not be possible.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend :)

WOW!!! You look amazing Grin You're not smug at all, you should be very bloody proud :)

Gives my 41 year old self hope lol

Your DD is super cute too!

Great photo notyummy, nice ab definition and I wish my pear-shaped bottom/thighs looked like yours! Grin Anyone else brave enough to post a photo?! I might do one soon... Have quite pleasing shoulders and abs but wobbly thighs.

3steps yes I did L2 6w6p today. You should give it another try! It needs several goes IMO before you can get the form. On the other hand, L2 killer is my nemesis!

gingercat12 · 08/09/2013 20:02

Jackster I do not think my tummy would be a family friendly sight Blush I saw it on holiday (as I had to exercise in front of a mirror in the hotel), and it looked fab by my own standards, but I would not subject you to seeing it.
notyummy Hats off!
threesteps Dig out your 6W6P. I just love it. (or hate it IYKWIM)
knotty Am I the only one who finds 6 days of exercise a week extremely tough? As I am in the middle of BR, I am doing it 6 days a week, but it is just so hard. Mind you, on my rest days like today, I am raring to go.

Happypiglet · 08/09/2013 21:11

Hi all I am back! After, as I suspected, was a pants summer for me exercise wise. So after spending 30 mins today playing tennis very tamely with my DSs and finding it tough going I have decided, now the DC are back, that I need to resume JMing in prep for all the Xmas parties I will be going to (not but hey it's as good a reason as any!).
Need to start slowly so back to L1 Ripped I go.... I am dreading it TBH it always makes me ache so much when I restart...
Kick up bum required!

Jacksterbear · 08/09/2013 23:06

Happypiglet! Welcome back Dod you get through L1 ok?

gingercat, but see, looking fab by your standards is what counts!

You may all think I'm insane note my dedication: just finished a taebo and it's 11pm! Knew I'd be really posses off with myself if I didn't work out today but didn't get a chance until now.

Any thoughts re where we should start the new thread, once this one is full up? Here, or over in sports and exercise, or somewhere else?

Workput plans for week everyone?

Jacksterbear · 08/09/2013 23:07

pissed off, not posses!

knottyhair · 09/09/2013 06:09

Great pic notyummy, but Jackster, there's no way I'm getting my jelly belly out! Well done on 11pm taebo Shock! Threesteps, I agree about the change in temp making things easier, although I was weirdly quite proud of how sweaty I was at the end of a workout when it was hot Blush. Welcome back happypiglet, and good luck with re-starting. ginger, I don't find it too bad doing 6 days out of 7, it's just part of my routine at the moment. I have to get on with it as soon as DD goes down for her morning nap which at the moment is about 25-30 mins - not sure yet how it will work when she starts cutting that down! Mind you, I always cue the DVD up to the beginning of the warm up whilst she's still up and she seems to like "Aunty Jillian" as I refer to her Smile, so hopefully she'll be happy to watch wishful thinking. The end of last week I managed Ripped L4 on Thurs, Yoga Meltdown L1 on Friday (I liked it! Obviously not as hard on the lungs but definitely yoga "Jillian style"!), and 3 circuits of NMTZ with 2 x 2 mins cardio inbetween each one on Saturday. Day off yesterday. So plan for this week is S&S L1 today, 6W6P L1 tomorrow, Killer L1 Weds, 6W6P L2 Thurs, Killer L2 Friday. Not sure what our plans are for the weekend yet so I'll wait & see. Have a good week everyone!

notyummy · 09/09/2013 07:27

Jackster- well done in the 11pm tae bo!

I think we should be in exercise in terms of sections.

Happypiglet · 09/09/2013 09:55

Well I did it....already feel it in arms and hamstrings but pleased to be back on the wagon!
11pm is hard core Jackster
Hope everyone's plans go well today

threestepsforward · 09/09/2013 17:28

Hello everyone!

Happypiglet welcome back to the Jillian fold - brilliant, you've got the first one out the way, it's all gravy from here :) (heard this phrase the other day and have fallen in love with it!!)

Gingercat I think working out 6 out of 7 days is a real achievement. I rarely manage it, more likely 5 days. I guess having a structured programme like BR keeps you on track? Much respect to you for sticking to it...

Knotty sounds like you have a good plan for the week! Really tempted by yoga meltdown, sounds like a DVD I'd really enjoy. Perhaps next month...

Jackster - 11pm exercise session, wow, I'm in awe!! Re the next thread I agree sports and exercise is a very good idea, way more relevant than weight loss chat lol. Anyone else want to start the next one as I'm not very good at navigating around the board!

Nothing more at the weekend apart from my 1 Killer session, so this week will be....

Today - L1 S&S
Tuesday - L2 Killer
Wednesday - BFBM (will be interested to see how I do in cooler temps!)
Thursday - L3 Killer (hate hate hate the rockstars to cannonballs! used to love them Hmm)
Friday - the double, L1 and L2 S&S

Weekend - not sure but will do at least one thing.

I've written it now so I'll have to do it Grin

Hope everyone is doing well :)

Had great plans for power walk followed by L3 Shred today bit back but dodgy this morning so did power walk and Callanetics instead.

If time tomorrow will do L3 Shred. Unlikely to have to w for anything on Wed but cross trainer session on Thursday and then perhaps either L2 or 3 of Killer plus power walk on Fri.

eslteacher · 10/09/2013 11:16

Hi all

Looking for a bit of advice from Jillian experts. Over the last few months I've worked my way through Shred 1, 2 and 3, Yoga Meltdown 1 and 2,and Ripped In Thirty1 and 2. Obviously it's been challenging, but I haven't felt too much like I'm going to die.

Yesterday however I tried Ripped In 30 Week 3 for the first time...first of all it seemed really really hard in terms of the strength circuit that's all about arms (I just couldn't do the last set of side push up things at all, my arm kept giving way) and also in terms of cardio (after the jumping lunges and hopping on the spot I did actually feel like dying for the first time ever).

Anyway, the real issue is that last night and this morning my knees have been KILLING me. I haven't noticed this before after any of the workouts I've done, so I think it must have been triggered by something in RI30 Week 3. Was wondering if it was those weird duck/crouch walk type things in the beginning?

I'm now scared to do this workout again, as I'm worried that it's going to make my knees even worse. Anyone got any advice on what the issue might be, perhaps I need to be doing something more carefully to avoid the knee pain?

threestepsforward · 10/09/2013 13:01

Hi Riverboat :)

First off, big cheer for doing all that Jillianing, fantastic Grin

Sorry to hear about your knees though. I would be tempted to rest them and try again when they feel better. The only obvious tip I can think of would be to make sure that your knee doesn't overshoot your foot when you are lunging / squatting. I suspect the duck walk might be the guilty party!

When your knees are better again, I'd really go slow in the lunge / squat moves and make extra sure you've got the right form. If you can't bear to rest, you could always substitute any of the moves that hurt your knees with less aggravating ones (so maybe boxing for jumping jacks in cardio etc.).

Another thought is maybe add more of a stretch at the end of the workout - I think quite a few of her workouts are a bit lacking in the stretching after the workout. 10-minute pilates solutions DVD has a fab 10 min stretch session at the end which I often use :)

Hope some / any of that helps and you are back on form soon! Oh, and Ripped L3 is a killer so you are not alone in finding it hard!!

Notyummy hope your back is okay now...

L2 Killer for me later, hope everyone is doing well :)

Riverboat, I'm still musing Grin

Maybe, once your knees are better, you could try the L3 Ripped again but substitute the duck walks?

Hope they feel better soon :)
