threesteps and Ginger I still hurt from ripped L3. My shoulders have never been so sre, although I did do L1 6W6P and no more trouble zones back to back yesterday for the hell of it. I'm just going to do 6w6p today and try and do ripped again tomorrow.

S&S sounds interesting. Are there a lot of plyometric moves?

knottyhair · 04/08/2013 14:19

PaulSmenis, 6W6P and NMTZ back to back?? Hats off to you!
Well I braved L2 S&S and it was definitely "interesting"! Longer than L1, and I did have to just stare openmouthed watch some of the moves first. Still couldn't get to grips with the down dog up and under press up thingy, but really enjoyed it, especially the yoga stuff. But didn't like the one-legged mountain climbers - I'm so slow! Also when she explained the plank rows with the leg raises, I thought "oh they're fine, she does those in the Shred" but what a difference lifting the arm & leg at the same time makes! Will have to save this one for weekends I think, as it's much longer than my baby DD's nap. Still hopefully it made up for the massive bacon sandwich I had at Borough Market yesterday and the Chinese takeaway last night.

Ponks · 04/08/2013 19:53

knotty I'm like you, it took me several sessions of watching those "hip heist" moves before I worked out which bit of me was supposed to go where Grin. One of the moves I really don't like in L2 is the ab hold up into plank move where your arms are in front of you. I know you have to really use your abs to hoist yourself up but I can barely do even two of them.

I have had a bad week, started well with S&S then NMTZ but must have pulled something as I had a killer hip for several days. Lunges & squats were out of the question. Did Shred L3 tonight but without the jumps in the lunges. Fingers crossed will be back to normal now.

threestepsforward · 04/08/2013 21:35

Oh no Ponks - hope you feel better tomorrow...

Knotty well done on doing L2 S&S. Those arm and leg lifts at the same time are much harder than alternate aren't they? I really don't know what I'm doing in the hip heists either - I tend to do them a la Killer, then add a press-up at the end!

Paul, second Knotty with a Respect for doing those workouts back to back, fantastic! There is quite a lot of plyo in S&S, but it's quite spread out over the 2 workouts - off top of my head, there are jumping lunges, squat jumps, hops, butt kicks, high knees, one-leg mountain climbers - there are some more too...

I did a double S&S today, yay!!! I think it's a hugely mental process...if I had only planned to do L1, and someone tried to make me go on and do level 2 when I was nearing the end of L1 I think I would tell them where to go! But if you're planning on doing the double, it suddenly seems much more doable. Knotty I never noticed that L2 is longer, but you're right - there's 1 extra circuit!

So a good week for me all-in - only 1 day off on the Friday but I did everything on my virtual agenda :)

I'm planning on getting Killer Buns heavy next week in run-up to a wedding (not mine!) at the weekend... Killer will firm up the gradually drooping behind, and there's enough cardio in there to keep me busy...

Hope everyone's had a great weekend - check back in with you all soon :)

Hello everyone. I lost this thread when it moved. Just checking in really, sounds like lots of Jillianing going on! After2 months of p90x, I was getting a little bored and also it was getting time consuming. I get bored easily so now i am doing Sean T's focus t25. I LOVE it! I am in my last week of Alpha phase. It is a great workout and i am sweating as much as i did with insanity. It isn't as intense as insanity but probably because it is shorter. The next phase Beta takes it up a notch so I am curious how that will go. I am not going to start that till I come back from holiday. I am going camping in the lake district. Does anyone know what exercise i could do? I will be taking my laptop but don't fancy big intensity.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Jacksterbear · 05/08/2013 21:15

Welcome back CHST, good to hear from you. T25 sounds awesome. Can you get hold of it in the uk now? Everyone I know who has it has got it in the States. I have recently "discovered" Shaun T (Hip Hop Abs) and love him!

Re camping - are you a jogger/runner?

Have been doing a mix of NMTZ, hip Hop Abs and turbo jam for the last few days. Have no particular plans for the rest of the week other than to fit in as much as I can!

knotty well done on the weight loss and on getting through L2 S&S. I found it pretty unpleasant tbh, but must give it another try!

And 3steps well done in the S&S double which I can't for the life of me imagine doing! I think you are right re the psychological thing: I struggle to do a double shred but find eg NMTZ easier to face psychologically speaking, even though it's longer and probably harder Confused.

Ponks, hope you are ok; and I agree re that ab hold to plank move: the only move in all the workouts I've done that I simply cannot do, not even one!

threestepsforward · 05/08/2013 21:28

So much positive feedback on Sean T... I could be tempted to have a look when/if I feel brave enough!

notyummy · 05/08/2013 21:34

Hi all.

CHST- how about running and some yoga? Quite 'at one with nature' for your trip!

Anyone doing S and S and something else is hardcore. I am impressed!

I am continuing my slow rehab. Shred L3 seems ok with my back. Did Ripped L3 this morning and am feeling slightly twingey although I enjoyed it whilst i was doing it. The only thing I struggled with was those 'rock and roll' things in the third circuit. I simply can't get down into that position and get back up again quick enough because I have to be careful of my back! It is frustrating because I used to be able to beat DH at those....

CHST · 05/08/2013 21:41

I'm not usually a runner but sounds like a refreshing change! Yoga too sounds lovely with all that nature.
Jackster I was following the facebook page and you can only buy through beachbody. I got from the first batch and then they were out of stock. Not sure of the status now. I only have Alpha and Beta phase. There is a gamma phase but that is an add on later

Jacksterbear · 05/08/2013 22:11

Ahh, that explains why I couldn't find T25 on Amazon, CHST. Thanks for the info. I like notyummy's running plus yoga suggestion!

3steps: do it!

notyummy good to hear recovery going well.

knottyhair · 06/08/2013 13:03

Ponks, how's your hip?
3steps, well done on the double S&S. Having done both levels, I can actually imagine doing a double reserve the right to change my mind. Like you say, it's a mental process, I think if I even had to stop and change the DVD I wouldn't do another!
CHST, is T25 the same sort of price as Insanity etc.? I'd love to have a go at those but I can't afford it!
notyummy, really hope your back continues to improve.
Didn't manage any Jillian yesterday as I had an appt first thing but did Killer L3 this morning, with DS watching and asking lots of questions. It's amazing how much more puffed you get if you have to explain why Jillian's said something or other every 2 mins Grin. Not sure what to do for the rest of the week, but I should be able to fit in something every day, and plan to do L2 S&S on Sunday maybe even 1&2. Has anyone on here got Bob Harper's Ripped Core DVD? I bought it just before I found out I was pregnant and haven't had a chance to give it a go yet.

Ponks · 06/08/2013 18:39

CHST have a good time camping, hope you get good weather. I have an unrealistic mental picture of you doing yoga in a sunlight glade, but last few times I have been to the lake district it has pelted down like no tomorrow so a cagoule might be wise. Grin We used to go running & mountain biking in the lakes years ago when I was fit so maybe think about hiring bikes too?

I have done 6W6P L1 for 2 days now and tonight my hip was twinging again - I had to take it easy in the spider planks and the side crunches on the bad side Sad. I am trying to do lots of stretching as I have noticed I am less supple on that side so maybe there is a bit of tightness that needs to be released.

notyummy you seem to be doing really well after your surgery, even though you say "taking it slow" you're still doing L3 !

How does Killer L3 compare with L2? I've never done L3 (been put off by her saying it's a "totally insane" workout) but feeling curious ...

threestepsforward · 06/08/2013 21:55

Evening all, just checking in!

L1 Killer for me this evening. I think that may be it now for the week as I'll be away, but I may try and fit something else in tomorrow if I can...

Oh Ponks you poor thing. Just a thought - my back problem was entirely down to being out of alignment (twisted pelvis). I always had one side that was stiffer than the other when stretching (really noticeable when doing quad stretches and some yoga moves) - do you think your hip is something a chiro might be able to help with? Is it a long-standing problem or just recent (sorry if you already said)... Well done doing 6W6P despite the hip...

I think Killer 2 and 3 are equally brutal in their own special ways! That last cardio circuit in L2 is a corker, which I don't think L3 rivals! If you do L2 you can certainly do L3, and it's a great workout - 1 min each side of those fire hydrant raises at the end, which sounds like it should be gentle, but my muscles are in spasm by the end!

Notyummy, you are doing amazingly in your recovery. It only seems like yesterday when you were talking about the op, not even having had it yet... unreal how quickly time goes Shock

Knotty, double S&S - do it do it do it do it!!! I bet you'll love it, and now you've done both levels there won't be any surprises!

I probably won't be back until next week so have a great rest of week and weekend everyone :)

knotty I Sky+ ed Bob's Ripped Core and it is quite good. I use it when I haven't got 66 minutes for his Super Strength, but want to do more than 30 minutes in terms of strength. Eventually I am going to order it on dvd, to free up the sky + box.

Wave to everyone else, sorry life is taking over a little bit.

notyummy · 07/08/2013 12:51

I think I may try NMTz next. Ripped really doesn't seen to be agreeing with my back, although Shred was ok. Think the strength stuff may be ok as is slightly more controlled.

Jacksterbear · 08/08/2013 14:23

Ponks I've never done Killer L3 either - also terrified at the thought, as L2 is so insane! Shall we do it one day (when your hip has recovered) and compare notes? Grin

Just done L1 ES&S - with 6yo DS! Bless him, he put on his school PE kit and joined me, with 1kg weights (!!) and (despite being terribly unco-ordinated) gave the whole thing a really good go - because "I want to be strong like you Mummy". Smile Smile

[Waves] to everyone - keep it up! Smile

knottyhair · 08/08/2013 14:35

Thanks Ginger - how long is Ripped Core? Ponks, I agree with threesteps, if you can do L2 Killer, than you can do L3. Notyummy, hope you get on OK with NMTZ. Jackster, bless your DS! My 9 year old DS just lays on the sofa, half watching me, half reading and yawning, although he does get up occasionally and try a move or two.
I did Killer L3 on Monday, and I'm now working back through the Ripped levels for the rest of the week. Saturday I'll either do L1 S&S (or I may save that for a double hit on Sunday - eek!), in which case I might do a few circuits of NMTZ or BFBM, depends if DP is working or can get DD up from her nap. Ripped L2 this morning - really hate that cardio circuit of plank jacks followed by MCs - I had to stop part way through the 2nd set of MCs and do butt kicks instead - I suppose as long as you keep moving!

Ponks · 09/08/2013 19:29

jackster yes let's have a Killer L3 challenge day! (though may be a problem that I haven't done L2 for quite a while so it really will be a challenge). Love the thought of your son joining in!

My hip flared up again but with a bit of extra stretching I was ok with 6w6p L1 today. Found the side planks with leg lifts particularly tough today. I think maybe I need to stretch more in general - wondering if the yoga meltdown dvd is more stretching /flexibility oriented?

knottyhair · 11/08/2013 13:21

Ponks, glad you found 6W6P OK with your hip. I'm currently waiting for Yoga Meltdown, so I'll let you know what it's like!
Well, I did the double S&S, and it was OK! 1hr 15mins in total though so definitely only one for when DP is here. DS did decide to join in for part of L2 which was nice, funny watching him do those Russian twist things with light weights. And he likes the Statue of Liberty ones as well.

Going to have a day off tomorrow I think (haven't had one since last Saturday) and do a few circuits of NMTZ on Tuesday, a few of BFBM on Weds, maybe a Shred L2 on Thurs, Shred L3 on Friday and poss a bit of Bob on Saturday. Then it's DD's naming ceremony on Sunday so another day off then. Hope everyone's OK x

Ponks · 11/08/2013 20:30

Aha knotty good to see you have a Plan! I'm thinking - Shred Mon, 6w6p L1 Tue, Killer L1 Wed, day off Thurs, S&S Fri but as always it can change depending on how I feel on the day. Today I was sooo tired this pm and DH suggested I have a lie down - but instead I opted for S&S (just L1) and it really boosted me. And my hip felt fine, phew.

I've ordered Yoga Meltdown! - couldn't wait!

threestepsforward · 13/08/2013 16:23

Afternoon all :)
Just checking in after long weekend away. Was at a wedding which was great fun.

I ate and drank like a glutton so am back in the zone this week, with another long weekend coming up next weekend.

So my agenda for this week will be: Killer L1 today; S&S L1 wednesday; Killer L2 thursday; S&S L1 and L2 if I can manage it, otherwise just L2.

I've found it really helps me to write it down - feels like the deal is sealed lol

Hope everyone is doing well - seems like there's quite a lot of activity going on at the mo - hurrah! Sorry not to name check but have to rush out in a mo...

Have a great evening...

OP posts:
knottyhair · 14/08/2013 12:55

Ponks, good on you doing S&S instead of having a lie down! My Yoga Meltdown has arrived, but have yet to crack it open.
threesteps, glad you enjoyed the wedding.
Sticking to the plan so far this week - did 4 circuits of BFBM today but added weights for some moves. My least favourite Shred L2 tomorrow, also walking to my parents' and back (only half an hour each way but partly uphill!). Weighed in at the weekend as usual and the scales show a pound gain, nothing really I know, but I'm not sure why. I track my food on MFP and was slightly under on some days and exercised more than normal - just one of those things I guess!

threestepsforward · 14/08/2013 17:17

Afternoon all Smile

Knotty don't worry too much about the weight gain. If you've upped your exercise levels it's likely to be water retention? Weight bobs up and down so much over the course of a day so don't worry - how do your clothes feel? (I don't have scales and clothes are all I use to gauge).

And, congrats on doing the S&S double - it feels like a long old slog doesn't it? I've just done the double again today :) Had noted down here I'd do just L1, but thought I would be busier on Friday so to swap the sessions around.

With Killer L1 yesterday, double S&S today and Killer L2 tomorrow, I suspect I may ache a bit by Friday Grin

Ponks glad your hip is feeling better - how was Killer?

I can't wait to hear feedback on Yoga Meltdown - I may get it too as I really enjoy her yoga-based intervals.

Will check in tomorrow, hope everyone has a good evening x

Hi all. Am away in this week- 6 nights visiting various friends and two nights in a hotel. Feeling bloated as eating food at friends- not about to turn my nose up when they are being hospitable, but more carb heavy than I am used too- plus more wine. Exercise understandable constrained but managed Mon, Tues and today (all at hotel- hiking, weights and power plate.) plus some walking and Callanetics on the other days. Suspect I will have put some weight on but will worry about it next week!

Great to hear that so many of you are keeping up the good work.

threestepsforward · 15/08/2013 12:36

Notyummy you are amazing do to any form of exercise while on holiday! If it's not as much as you'd like, maybe look at it as giving your back a bit of time off to regroup in the recovery phase:) (and don't slouch or twist when you're on the booze lol!)

My lord my bum and legs ache a bit today! Have to do Killer L2 later this evening and the thought of even squatting (speed squats Shock) makes me wince. If I stick to my plan I'll be very pleased with myself!

Will check in later and let you know...

Have a good day everyone :)
