Morning all, I've managed 4 lots of 6w6p this week and it's definitely getting easier...I can now sit down without groaning Grin

Lambzig · 16/06/2013 19:33

No, I did level 1 first, I think I went for it too much though. Couldn't cool down for about an hour. Days 2-4 have been ok though.

Have to say this is working for me. My diet had plateaued out, but in the two weeks I have been doing this I have lost 5lbs.

GypsyFloss · 17/06/2013 07:14

Wow Lambzig that's a good result :) I really liked L2 of the shred. It's lovely when you see results quickly. I've lost 1/2 inch off my waist and hips already which is a definite motivator when the 5.30 alarm goes .

Happypiglet · 17/06/2013 14:47

Still plugging on with RI30 now on L2 .... Which I am enjoying...strangely... Not loosing weight but that wasn't the aim...I am def toning up and getting those dents on my booty....which JM says somewhere!

niceupthedance · 18/06/2013 11:43

So I started NMTZ today and really enjoyed it - can definitely feel it in abs and triceps. There really isn't any cardio though, need to step that up to see if I can shed some of the blubber over my new muscles. Grin

Happypiglet · 18/06/2013 11:51

L2 RI30 again today... think I need to up the weights on some bits as I am coasting a bit.... but if I do too mu7ch weight on first circuit there is no way I can do plank jacks and then mountain climbers for two minutes my arms simply will not cope!
nice I like NMTZ and find it slightly aerobic but its just a bit long for me...I seem too busy at present to fit it in...may try the tricep section tho as mine are still letting my arms down... do you have BFBM? That's a serious CV work out!!

Jacksterbear · 18/06/2013 14:02

Hi there all.

I have been wondering re NMTZ and cardio, nice and Happyp. I know there's no jumping around, but I'm sure it sends my heartrate through the roof, and definitely makes me sweat buckets, so does that count?

Happyp, that plank jack/mountain climber circuit in Ripped L2 is vicious! But good on you for considering more weights / being able to coast any of it!!

Gypsy great work re 6w6p!

And good work all. Exercise is having to take a bit of a backseat this week as various other stresses going on in Jacksterland that are making finding the time impossible. But am following the thread and enjoying the vicarious workouts through you guys!

notyummy · 18/06/2013 17:50

If you use heavy enough weights in the legs and butt sections of NMTZ, (from memory 1, 3 and 5 at least- maybe more) then you will be heavily breathing and in the fat burning zone! Given that they are such big muscles, you should be looking to use a minimum of 3kg weights, and ideally 5 kgs. Don't worry- you won't bulk. It takes a lot more than that (and a special diet) to get scary like Jodie Marsh Grin.

Jacksterbear · 18/06/2013 18:15

Holy crap notyummy it nearly kills me to use 2kgs in circuit 1 of NMTZ! Shock But I could up the weights in later circuits probably!

niceupthedance · 18/06/2013 20:19

Yes happyp I've got BFBM, too scared to take it out of the box just now...

I was struggling by the end of NMTZ, circuit 1 is shoulders and arms and I had to drop to 1kg just to get through it . I was sweating like a p.i.g all the way through so hopefully some CV benefits were had!

Happypiglet · 18/06/2013 20:24

Ok you have all inspired me to try NMTZ again tomorrow! But I won't be using 5 kgs (I don't even own 5kg weights!)....have a bit longer in the morning to have a go....and feel the need for a change...wish me luck!

notyummy · 18/06/2013 20:50

From memory Jackster I start on 5kg in circuit I for squat and press and them move to 3kg for the later moves in that circuit. I have to swap between them throughout the workout- although it was a proud day when I managed both sets of those ones where you hold your arms above you head and kneel and get up again repeatedly with 5kg weights!

Ponks · 18/06/2013 23:03

piglet why not try doing just selected circuits of NMTZ if the whole thing is a bit long for you. I sometimes do the warm up then 3 or 4 of the circuits - still seems a good workout and the advantage is I'm not knackered by the end so can push myself a bit more in the later circuits.

Well have finally been able to do a workout after my toe got squished. It was only L1 Shred - that old favourite - as I've been off for a while. Really enjoyed it and the best thing was how much more positive I felt about everything afterwards. Work and other life stuff has been getting me down a bit lately but I immediately felt a lot fresher and stronger after Shredding. Must keep it up!

Happypiglet · 19/06/2013 10:35

OK So I did the whole of NMTZ... I had forgotten how much I like it... And I was out of breath in places so some cardio happening!!
Think I will feel it tomorrow tho!
Ponks glad to hear you have been able to get back into JM... I agree my mood is ten times better when I exercise...

gingercat12 · 20/06/2013 12:08

Having fun with L3 of RI30 when I have little time, and Bob's Super Strength or Ripped Core when I have more time Grin

Just thinking of 5kg weights make me faint.

notyummy answered my question before I managed to ask. My friend goes to an exercise class once a week, and she told me that she stopped for a few months, because she started bulking up. I love her to bits, but I seriously doubted that. Next time I visit her, I hope to go as well.

eslteacher · 20/06/2013 14:56

Lambzig - I've also just started Shred Level 2, its definitely tough!

Aside from the general fitness challenges, I am having issues with my trainers during plank jacks and plank squats (if that's what they're called) - they keep flying off! But if I do them up too tightly, they hurt during other bits of the workout. Has anyone else had this issue?

notyummy · 20/06/2013 16:26

Ginger - there is a v recent pic of me on my profile cant stop it being sideways though!) I was getting help on a S and B thread on whether to buy a dress or not - hopefully no bulk. Thats with 5 (and sometimes 7) kilo weights. Although not for last few weeks.

Jacksterbear · 21/06/2013 17:31

riverboat try different socks. I had problems with my trainers rubbing, but running socks (the double-layer ones) sorted them out.

I really miss shred and ripped! (Have lent out both DVDs, along with 6w6p.)

Lambzig · 22/06/2013 08:24

Notyummy, you are so slender.

Have to say this shred business works for me so well. By doing it every day and following a fairly low carb diet for the past 20 days, I have lost 9lb and my arms are so toned. Sadly my post 2DC tummy has not yet got with the programme.

So happy, i have lost 20lbs in the last 11 weeks, I am the lightest weight I have been for ten years, my DH told me this morning that I look like when he met me and am 4lbs away from my ideal weight.

I go on holiday tomorrow and am taking Jillian with me.

Overreactionoftheweek · 22/06/2013 10:43

I posted on this thread on 1st Feb...and have only just done another Jillian workout Blush

But this time it will be different! No really, I mean it! Grin

Just did my first 6p6w. I am still purple in the face and there were moves I couldn't do, but I really enjoyed it and didn't find it completely impossible. I've moved onto this one from shred because my stomach is my major trouble zone. Ds is 20 months and I still look 6 months pregnant, eek! So I'm hoping the cardio and ab focus will help with that.

Now I'll read back through the thread for lots of inspiration from you all

Lovethesea · 22/06/2013 18:33

My DVD arrived today, first ever outing into Jillian world with the 30 Day Shred (Or is it Shed?)

Well I survived L1 an hour or so ago though walking up the stairs just now my legs went all wobbly! It definitely did something as I went red as a lobster and sweated lots. I am seriously unfit, a stone overweight and have no abs at all after 2 kids and weight gain.

Hoping this works well for me as it has for loads of you! I just want some energy back again. And fewer stomachs.

I have bought some weights, 0.5kg, baby steps hey!

Overreactionoftheweek · 23/06/2013 09:09

Day 2 of 6p6w done and I'm less purple today! Still can't do side plank or burpees but am persevering with it all. Am I supposed to do it every day? I'm planning to try because I've only got 7 weeks before dh's 30th and want to look a hell of a lot better by then.

Lovethesea · 23/06/2013 19:20

Did L1 for the second day in a row ... despite having to walk up and down stairs sideways today I was in so much pain from day 1.

Amazed I was able to do it. Hoping to keep going.

Happypiglet · 23/06/2013 22:29

I am approaching next week with a certain amount of trepidation as I am moving up to L3 RI30 and have vague recollections of duck walking, bear crawling and my ultimate nemisis jumping lunges.....gulp .... Wish me luck
lovethesea well done on Day 2 I would definitely recommend working thru the ache...it goes after about four days and never gets as bad again as long as you don't take an extended break from JM!
overreaction JM recommends five or six times a week. I always have two days off as I find my muscles don't cope with continuous daily workouts...I think they need time to recover!

Overreactionoftheweek · 24/06/2013 11:27

Day 3 of 6w6p done - I really didn't want to do it this morning so am very pleased that I did. I'm getting better but still really struggling with burpees and that flipping side plank!

Thanks happy...I'll see how I feel doing it 7 days after the first week and then possibly drop down.

Am thinking I need to start running as well as the DVD as I really want my giant belly to bugger off!
