Hi all. riverboat I found the same thing as you re plank twists, initially. Then after a lot of practice (they appear in most of her DVDs at some point!) I think I have found the way to do them that makes them hurt seem effective: keep your bottom down (I realised I was lifting my bottom up at the same time as swinigng my hip down) and try to focus on swinging your hip as far down and round as you can, and getting your knee as far as you can towards the opposite elbow.

Ponks ouch! That sounds painful!

Re thread move - don't have any strong opinions either way so it's fine by me!

Threesteps thanks for the facial yoga tips - will give it a go sometime!

Just need to disappear for a moment, will post this and then be back...

Jacksterbear · 10/06/2013 12:50

Ok, am back...

Welcome back Gypsyfloss and to Happyp, gingercat and everyone else.

Thinking about which workout to do this p.m. - maybe an ES&S L1...

notyummy · 10/06/2013 13:04

I agree withJackster. On plank twists.

Thanks for face yoga threesteps .

Out on my 5 mile walk. Callenetics when I return.Have ordered a DVD! Also managed to convert several ladies on the Insanity thread to trying callenetics as well!

I agree with proposed move to sports and exercise.

Happypiglet · 10/06/2013 14:29

L1 Ripped again this morning. Enjoyed it. Cold seems to be receding so going to have a good week this week!
Hi to all and good wishes to all recovering from injury. Happy work outs to everyone else..

Happypiglet · 10/06/2013 21:29

Just to make you all feel a bit better... My uber fit DH (think Tough Mudder, etc) has just attempted L3 Ripped.... And looks like a sweaty, red disaster zone......! Typical man tho going straight in at L3 I did try to gently suggest he might build up some core strength working from the beginning as he couldn't balance in some ofnthe moves!

threestepsforward · 10/06/2013 21:29

Evening all!

Sorry to hear about injuries (Ponks - pesky horse!) and sorry not to name check everyone as I'm not keeping up as well due to being on the bench!

Back appointment on Thursday so hopefully will be back on the Shred-mill and back on the thread on a more regular basis :)

I'm happy to report the thread to MNHQ tomorrow to see if they'll move it? If anyone is really anti the idea let us know on here before tomorrow Grin (I'll probably e-mail them in the afternoon if we're up for it...).

At least I'm using any free time (not that I have much with work at the mo) to practice my facial yoga ha ha Grin Shock Grin

Ladies can i join you please?

I'm back on the shred after a break due to injury.
Yesterday i did level one, i'm not as fit as i had been so it was a struggle.
I have five weeks until my holiays so no slacking allowed over here.

niceupthedance · 11/06/2013 07:18

Ha, piglet, I'm glad your super fit DH was a sweaty mess too! I think I'm going to ditch RI30 after this week, I'm not enjoying it and finding excuses not to do it, which is a slippery slope.

Had 6 days off then went back to L1 yesterday and it hurts today! Have ordered BFBM and Killer which will hopefully arrive today, along with my hula hoop (for evening exercise when I can't leap about).

eslteacher · 11/06/2013 07:44

piglet - love the idea of your DH being whipped by Jillian! Am going to try to get mine to do it with me one day, he was cockily showing me his one handed sit ups the other day so I think he needs to join me at leadt once...maybe when I get to Shred L3.

nice - what aren't you enjoying about RI30? What is it like compared to Shred?

Lavender - good luck!

I did Shred L2 for the second time yesterday, it went much better than the first. Am proud to say I can now do at least one proper non-girly push up! The walking planks have been good for practicising that.

I swear I am starting to notice a difference in my abs, they feel harder and firmer - now just need to shift a little more of the fat floating on top!

eslteacher · 11/06/2013 07:45

Oops, meant one handed push ups

niceupthedance · 11/06/2013 07:52

Riverboat, I'm not sure what it is exactly, there's a lot of moves in L3 which I just thought 'oh come on now'. I guess I prefer more straightforward routines than twisting about for the sake of it! Also I thought L1 was similar in difficulty to L2 shred so was glad I had done the shred first. Maybe I am just feeble!

notyummy · 11/06/2013 08:54

See, I always found L1 Ripped to really easy- easier than any shred level and almost like an 'intro' to JM. It felt a bit like people had complained about not knowing how to do the exercises properly in the shred because she just powered on through, so in this DVD she decided to do an intro level. I quite liked levels 2/3/4 because the stuff was different so no risk of getting bored. Used to enjoy those roll backwards things, when you had to get up and jump afterwards (mainly because I was better at them than DH!) I do remember there being some really hard stuff- a killer arms circuit in either 3 or 4, with nasty charalanga (sp?) press ups sticks in my mind....

niceupthedance · 11/06/2013 09:18

Oh the roll backwards things are my nemesis! Grin

GypsyFloss · 11/06/2013 22:43

I ditched Ripped last year too, it just didn't suit me and she annoyed me.

I'm persevering with 6w6p even though it's killing me. I can't believe how easy I found it last year! I just know that it works wonders so I am keeping my eye on the end point...a sun lounger Grin

How's your back notyummy did you have surgery ? I'm sorry I've scanned back but wasn't sure.

gingercat12 · 12/06/2013 12:34

I do L3 RI30 this week, as I quite like it. We are all different, and I am always a sweaty mess after exercise anyway Blush. Although today is my cardio day, so it was Cardio 3 from BR.

Last Sunday I treated my neighbours to one hour of Bob's Super Strength in the garden. Even DS did not feel like joining in. I tried whimpering very quietly. No calls from the police so far Grin. Although during the Champions' League final I did Cardio 3 in the garden, so they might be getting used to it. It may be the grass surface or the air, but I find exercising a lot easier and more pleasurable in the garden. It is as if we were meant to enjoy the open air.

gypsyfloss 6W6P is my personal favourite Grin Killing me every time.

Ponks Are you feeling any better?

Ponks · 12/06/2013 19:28

Just checking in to say Hi! - wish I could be reporting a Shred or 6w6p but my foot is still swollen and sore, though I can now bend the toe a little bit so am hoping to be back in action soon.

My DH also enjoys the Jillian workouts now! - though he has to use the biggest weights of course, and for some reason wears several layers of clothes (including a fleece! ) to start off, then drips sweat everywhere. I have to wear as little as possible as I get so hot.

ginger love the idea of exercising in the garden - do you use headphones or just blast it out?

Happypiglet · 12/06/2013 21:00

Hi all.... Still plodding on with RI30 L1 I am going to move up soon....cannot remember L2 but think I might not want to!
Was at cub scout family rounders tonight too...so quite a lot of running around!

Lambzig · 13/06/2013 08:33

Hi, can I join you please?

I am new to Ms Michaels and just picked up Shred to try and get over a dieting plateau. I have just done the first day of L2 which has nearly killed me. I can't believe I have to do that for the next ten days.

Can I please ask a question? I am committed to doing the Shred for thirty days (holiday at the end of it), but I know I wouldn't be able to maintain exercise every day when I get back. What do you do at the end of the 30 days to not lose the fitness, but perhaps not be so intense? What other DVD would you recommend next?

notyummy · 13/06/2013 10:35

Hi Lamb. I may not be the best example, but usually (when not laid up following an op...) I would be looking at exercising at least 5 days a week anyway. Perhaps looking at varying the type of exercise you do? So perhaps this type (shred or ripped in 30 or 6W6P) 2 or 3 days a week, some yoga, Pilates or callenetics one day a week and a run on another day? How does that sound?

skylerwhite · 13/06/2013 11:46

Hello, can I please join this thread?

I've just completed Level 1 of Ripped in 30, and did Level 2 yesterday for the first time. Very tough! And I had to pause and rewind the video a few times to figure out what the actual moves were. Quite complicated - and Jillian sometimes does things like says 'right leg' but actually uses her left leg. I also was so focused on following her instructions for the high knees - lean back so your abs do the work - that I didn't look where I was going and reversed right back into the couch, almost spraining my ankle in the process Blush

Anyway, enough moaning. About to do Level 2 Day 2 now, so hoping I make a better fist of it than yesterday.

Lambzig · 13/06/2013 11:52

Thanks yummy. It sounds good, but I am basically stuck exercising at home as I have 2DC full time, so unfortunately a run is out. I would love to try and do something five days a week though.

Can probably manage to do something every week day normally, perhaps a dance one as well

gingercat12 · 13/06/2013 12:19

Welcome skylerwhite and Lambzig! Hope you will enjoy your time with Jillian.

skyler You sound an awful lot like me when attepting a dvd for the first time. I just keep going on "What?!" She always says you should rather do it right than fast.

Ponks I use DS's small portable dvd player and it is so quiet. Especially if DS is around and I am panting, I cannot hear a word of it, so I just blast it out Grin.

Lambzig · 14/06/2013 21:27

Thank goodness, day 2 of level 2 was a bit easier today. Yesterday I actually threw up afterwards, today I only felt mildly nauseous, so progress.

Ponks · 14/06/2013 22:25

Ooo Lambzig that doesn't sound so good ... though I know what you mean about L2. First time I did it I collapsed on my stomach after finishing the plank twists, I couldn't do the stretching for quite a while until my breath settled down. Every time I do L2 since then I think about that so I can measure how I'm improving.
Though will feel like a beginner when I finally get back into things - my foot is improving but slowly, my big toe is numb which is very strange.

niceupthedance · 15/06/2013 07:44

Eek Lambzig! I felt pukey when I first started - so unfit. Did you go straight in at L2?
