Stop Bingeing and Start Eating Healthily Thread

Would anyone like to join me? I am a yo yo dieter, a failed WW (could not bear the small portions) failed SW (went wild on Free foods) and I eat too much of the wrong sorts of food. I binge then starve and I want to get out of that cycle. I also enjoy my evening 3 glass of wine a little too much! I feel bloated, pasty, tired and I hate how I look in the mirror. I am about to hit 40, and I refuse to spend any more time hating myself. I want to deal with my psychological food issues, and I want to finally be the woman I am meant to be.

I am 5 ft 2 and weigh 11 stone 3.

My aim- to increase fruit and veg. To cut out wheat as I bloat very badly on wheat. To take as much care over my own diet as I do over the diets of my children and my husband. To not treat my body like a rubbish bin.

As of this morning. I am tired. My skin is pale and blotchy. I am very bloated in the stomach. I am aiming to lose 24 pounds, but want to do it properly and without feeling deprived. I want to make this process luxurious, with a focus on gorgeous healthy food.

Today's plan:

Breakfast - fruit and natural yoghurt with a drizzle of honey.

Lunch - home made carrot and coriander soup.

Dinner - fresh veg risotto.

I need ideas for delicious alcohol-free drinks. Currently I love a splash of grapefruit juice and soda water.

Anyone want to join me? The focus is on good food, and to deal with the psychological issues around bingeing and self hatred. I am not a psychologist, just someone who needs- and can offer support!

Weigh in days will be Mondays and Thursdays.

That's great SAHRum well done. Smile

SlimFitWellies · 02/05/2013 15:08

That is fantastic! Well done everyone. :)

I need to get back into things. Have been in holiday mode while the DParents have been here and am already feeling - after a week- that weight has deffo come on. I need to just scale things back a bit.

Soup tonight for dinner, as they are out with DCousins. Then back to my alternate veg-alcoholfree days.

Hazel- you ate starting again next week? me too. I want to cut out sugar and milk in coffee for this week.... then get back to things next. Are you on for a bit of handholding with me until Monday?

twinklestar2 · 02/05/2013 23:40

Well done sahrum!

Slim - I cut out sugar in tea and coffee yesterday and its easier than I thought. How much sugar do you normally have in your drinks

JakeBullet · 03/05/2013 08:03

Can I join you all, I am Lo Carbing and am definitely much less of a binge eater while following that way of eating. I have fallen off the wagon lots though and desperately need to get a grip with it all.

SAHRum · 03/05/2013 09:14

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Oh and thank god for soups! random, but I think you all know what I mean.

Hey Slim bet you've not put on that much at all - why don't you leave the weigh in and then hop on them when you've had 2 or 3 days back on the wagon. Well done you for staying strong on the mum front.

welcome Jake

What a gorgeous day here in London - I've cancelled my pilates class and am going to enjoy the sun while I can. Hope you can do the same.

Emilythornesbff · 03/05/2013 11:01

Just lost a lengthy post.
To paraphrase: onwards and downwards fellow revolutionaries!
Hello jake
I am LOVING 5:2
Sunny day. Grin

SlimFitWellies · 03/05/2013 14:25

Hi all,

Welcome Jake! So nice to have new Revolutionaries. :)

twinkle I have only half-2/3 a teaspoon of sugar, but I have about 8-10 cups of coffee or tea a day. With milk. Giving that up would be worth some pounds over time I bet!

Have definitely decided to leave the weigh in for a bit..... and am not looking at myself too closely in the mirror either. (Is it just me, or do shop windows get all of you in the most unflattering pose also?)

am out for dinner tonight at a nice little newly opened restaurant near us. Have already decided on asparagus for starters, then baked salmon fillet.

onwards and downwards!

Hazelbrowneyes · 04/05/2013 09:54

slim yes! I'm here for handholding. I've eaten shit all week, I'm going out tonight so will eat shit then and it's bank hols so I'm likely to eat and drink a lot. Zero willpower. Am back up to starting weight. Sob!

Your dinner tonight sounds delicious!

My plan for next week involves exercise, starting on Monday. No alcohol next week and no crisps or chocolate. It's nearly summer and I still don't fit into my shorts.

We can do this Revolutionaries! We really can Grin

BambieO · 04/05/2013 10:49

Glad you are all doing so well. I am still here, just been logging away on MFP and have been rubbish at checking the threads! I will try harder brownies honour :)

Emilythornesbff · 06/05/2013 07:24

Morning fellow revolutionaries. I hope everyone had a good weekend.
I'm fasting today so no calories until my supper time lentil broth (while the family tucks into a roast -hey ho, it's only two days a week)
Onwards and (bloody well better be) downwards.

BambieO · 06/05/2013 11:48

Great going emily that's dedication :) it will definitely pay off

Emilythornesbff · 06/05/2013 16:16

I do hope so. That chicken smells wonderful in the oven.
Ah well I can have some tomorrow.

Emilythornesbff · 07/05/2013 06:56

Very cross. 9st 7 this morning so Gained another Lb even though I have been soooooo good. Sad

SlimFitWellies · 07/05/2013 07:43

Good morning Fellow Revolutionaries!

I am starting again. Have eaten massive amounts of (lovely) food with the DParents and drunk way too much wine. A bottle of cava and a bottle of white last night between 4, anyone? And it has been like that every day. Way above my comfort zone. Have definitely put on weight- my fave jeans keep popping.

Today - I am going to eat lightly but well. I am going to savour my food. I am going to also (again) work on my self esteem by acting calm, in control. Fake it until I make it. I am going to behave like I am comfortable in my own skin. And I am going to dress better, take better care of myself. In short, I am going to dress and eat as if I am already the size 10, 9 stone 7 pound elegant woman I want to be.

Bet you it is water weight, Em. Weigh again tomorrow, and see. :)

(PS- I am still not weighing....)

Sorry went awol Hazel...... have had manic weekend! I have a pair of shorts I want to fit into too..... lovely peach coloured ones. I dream of being able to wear those and a strappy top.

Come the Revolution!!!!

Emilythornesbff · 07/05/2013 08:52

slimfit I'm glad you've enjoyed your weekend. You speak wise words and we should all take your mantra on board.
Onwards and downwards fellow revolutionaries!

Hazelbrowneyes · 07/05/2013 09:17

I'm back after a hideous weekend of eating far too much and drinking even more.

Started badly: had sugar in my tea. Whoops. Croissant for breakfast.
Lunch will be a mugshot
I have a malteser teaser thing as a snack (am sunburnt and feeling sorry for myself. Who knew you could get so flipping burnt when it was only 15 degrees?!)
Dinner tonight will be BBQ chicken drumsticks marinated chinese stylee, pork chipolatas, potatoes (because I did the shopping this week and bought a huge bag, not realising that we already had a big bag) and salad.

So long as my skin stops burning, then after a few glasses of elderflower water in the garden after work, I will get the Davina dvds out.

Goals for this week:
No sugar in tea
No snacks (today an exception, obviously!)
Exercise!!
Back to calorie counting

I weighed myself yesterday and actually sod it, I can't remember where I'm meant to be with the pound loss so I'm going to tell you the numbers...please don't say I don't need to lose weight, I'm v. short and uncomfortable where I am now.

So yesterday I was 9st 3lbs. Excellent considering the amount of crap I've eaten this week and it's the time of the month.

I am usually 8st 8lbs and even this feels a bit heavy for me but I used some medication last year that made be go up to 9st 9lbs. I lost 3lbs as soon as I came off the pills but it's been a real struggle since August. I've managed to get to 9st 4lbs and then stop. So 9st 3lbs is great for me, I've got past that dreaded 4 on the scales! My goal for the end of May is to get to 8st 13lbs. I think this is doable so long as I put the bloody effort in.

Major hand holding needed guys xx

Hazelbrowneyes · 07/05/2013 09:21

Oh and no alcohol during the week.

I currently drink a lot of flavoured sparkling water, which can't be good for me - any recs of drinks which are yummy and "replace" alcohol?

Emilythornesbff · 07/05/2013 11:29

Holding your hand hazel
Let's get to below the 9st mark.
Em.

Emilythornesbff · 07/05/2013 11:35

I don't drink as I'm ebf. I drink sparkling water with a slice of lemon, or a splash of sugar-free lime and also flavoured waters.
I guess plain water is best.

Hazelbrowneyes · 07/05/2013 12:57

Well....lets add a bag of quavers and a bottle of diet coke to todays failure of a diet. Weep.

Never mind, it's been a stressful day at work so far, I need to graze! I'm also going to be running around like a mental person for the next few hours so I might even burn some of the quavers off!!

Right em we can do this! Good idea about sparkling water with lemon, that sounds yum.

Emilythornesbff · 07/05/2013 15:23

Nothing wrong with a diet coke Grin.
I had a mugshot for lunch. Tasty but I think they make me hungry so I'm going to avoid them in favour of a bit more protein.

iheartshoes · 07/05/2013 16:47

Another shorty here who would like to join please ! Currently 9.13 after having my little girl . I'm only 5'1 so I look way too chunky and can't fit into any of my pre pregnancy summer clothes :( feel horrible . Am a bridesmaid in September and would love to be 8.8 for that if I can . Going to try and cut out sugar and do mostly low carb combined with lots of walking with the pram .

SlimFitWellies · 07/05/2013 17:51

Welcome iheartshoes!

Hazel I am currently drinking 'mint lemonade'. I chop up a good handful of mint, add 2 litres of water, the juice of three lemons and a level tablespoon of sugar and bring to the boil. Then cool, strain and have over ice. It is possible I would think to have sugar replacements, but the sugar is minimal really, and a lot less calorific than alcohol.

iheartshoes · 07/05/2013 18:56

Thanks slimfit... Just wanted to say I love your mantra about dressing and eating if you are already the size you want to be , am going to try that. Prawn stir fry for tea for me tonight with lots of water and coffee for afters followed by a herbal tea if I get desperate !

Bakingnovice · 07/05/2013 20:13

Can I join too? Have been trying to lose 1.5 stones for years. I started three weeks ago properly and lost 10lbs by low carbing. Last week was terrible though and I am up 5lbs. I struggle so much with the ups and downs in my weight, I hate it. I did 5:2 last year and enjoyed it but have decided to low carb to lose a stone then go back to 5:2 as my losses were very very slow. I've read the whole thread and feel as if I know you all. I've had a good eating day today but feeling a bit sorry for myself.
