Stop Bingeing and Start Eating Healthily Thread

Would anyone like to join me? I am a yo yo dieter, a failed WW (could not bear the small portions) failed SW (went wild on Free foods) and I eat too much of the wrong sorts of food. I binge then starve and I want to get out of that cycle. I also enjoy my evening 3 glass of wine a little too much! I feel bloated, pasty, tired and I hate how I look in the mirror. I am about to hit 40, and I refuse to spend any more time hating myself. I want to deal with my psychological food issues, and I want to finally be the woman I am meant to be.

I am 5 ft 2 and weigh 11 stone 3.

My aim- to increase fruit and veg. To cut out wheat as I bloat very badly on wheat. To take as much care over my own diet as I do over the diets of my children and my husband. To not treat my body like a rubbish bin.

As of this morning. I am tired. My skin is pale and blotchy. I am very bloated in the stomach. I am aiming to lose 24 pounds, but want to do it properly and without feeling deprived. I want to make this process luxurious, with a focus on gorgeous healthy food.

Today's plan:

Breakfast - fruit and natural yoghurt with a drizzle of honey.

Lunch - home made carrot and coriander soup.

Dinner - fresh veg risotto.

I need ideas for delicious alcohol-free drinks. Currently I love a splash of grapefruit juice and soda water.

Anyone want to join me? The focus is on good food, and to deal with the psychological issues around bingeing and self hatred. I am not a psychologist, just someone who needs- and can offer support!

Weigh in days will be Mondays and Thursdays.

Thanks bambi. The thing is, every time I have a bad day I go back into the 11s! It's so frustrating and completely all my fault!

I've stayed within cals today but it hasnt been healthy:

cereal bar, skinny latte

half an oven pizza

half a choc twist from costa

chicken, salad, 200g potato

40 minute run

low carbing again from tomorrow!

Fallen off the wagon majorly during Easter hols. Feel disgusted with myself. Probably put on 5lbs. All bad habits back. Stressful trip to inlaws had me reaching for the food then the sudden death of an acquaintance had me reaching for the wine. Feel emotionally weak and very sad and have been medicating with sugar

Stillstarving · 15/04/2013 08:05

Hi everybody I was here a couple of weeks ago but went on holiday for a week. Have been back for a week now and on the case! I've eaten breakfast and lunch every day for a whole week! This is unheard of. I'm trying to stick to 1200 calories a day or thereabouts though I did fall off the wagon royally at the weekend. I had wine Friday night which led to eating too much rubbish Sat and Sun.
It's a big deal for me to be having 3 meals a day though so I'm pleased with that and feeling the benefits. Also to be having no wine during the week. I bought some new face cream as my prize for being a good diet student. Onwards and downwards! My food menus for this week look a bit dull though - may have to revise them tonight. All your food looks more interesting than mine!

Stillstarving · 15/04/2013 08:10

Oh IAm I'm sorry to hear you're having such a horrible time. Be kind to yourself, the old ways of coping with the distress make you feel worse sometimes though I know for myself it's what I go back to every time. Would planning your day's eating help? Am hoping pesky inlaws out of the way for a while!

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 15/04/2013 08:19

Thank you StillStarving. I'm looking forward to a day of more controlled eating today and I'm back to work tomorrow which gives me structure. The sun is shining which brightens my mood and is already cheering me up as I sit here with my coffee looking out on the garden. The support of this group means a lot xx

twinklestar2 · 15/04/2013 09:02

Iam - we all fall off wagon, just get back on. As for the 5lbs - easy on easy off :)

Menu

Cereal and ss milk
Wrap with salad and something
Chicken Kiev and salad
Fruit to snack on

SlimFitWellies · 15/04/2013 09:30

Good to see you Iam and StillStarving. :)

I also fell off the wagon, and feel really low and down. Have just had for breakfast a bowl of lentil soup though which was yum. Planning on that for the rest of the day, then a small portion of roast pork tonight with the trimmings. I feel really at sea too right now, and am not sure how to pick myself up. I like 'onwards and downwards' though!

SlimFitWellies · 15/04/2013 09:31

Oh- sorry also about the death of your friend, Iam. Thanks

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 15/04/2013 09:54

Thank you slim fit.
Like your onwards and downwards mantra! Hope you perk up too x

Well, worse than I thought. Actually put on 8lbs in 2 weeks. Disgusting. First of all I cried then I decided to just get back on that bloody wagon! I can lose that in 2 weeks so that's the plan

Emilythornesbff · 15/04/2013 20:39

Evening fellow Revolutionaries (yes I like it and am keeping it).

iammummyhearmeroar very sorry to hear about your friend.

I've had an intestine food day. I was definitely hungry today.
Bf omelette
L bean soup, yogurt, banana, apple
D roast beef and cauliflower cheese. Yogurt.
Just had a homemad cupcake (no frosting). It was delicious! Really enjoyed it and have no need to eat any more of them (bake sale was cancelled so we have a surplus of yummy cake). I'm keeping portions small and have walked over a mile with DCs today.
Must drink more water. You'd thin it would be easy as I'm b.feeding but I need to up my water intake.
Thinking about another fasting day........ Maybe tomorrow with soup as my meal.... Hmmmm.
Em

Emilythornesbff · 15/04/2013 20:51

intestine!!!!
Interesting, obviously.

slimfit love the new name.

Stillstarving · 15/04/2013 22:14

Today was ok for me. Managed to keep under calories though I could have done with more fruit and veg, I'll try to have extra tomorrow. Managed a short - v short - run/stumble this evening too so I'm a bit smug! Hope tomorrow doesn't wipe my smug face off!

twinklestar2 · 15/04/2013 22:28

I must must must do this low carb thing properly!!

50shadesofbrown · 15/04/2013 23:54

Hi everyone.

Iam - so sorry about your sad news.

For the record, I do quite like Ryvitas. My mum always had wheat allergy when I was a kid, Ryvitas were 'her special food' so it always felt like a treat to be allowed one. I know a lot of people would rather chew cardboard though!

Weighed myself this morning, am now 11st 6lb so I think that's 2 pound off this week. Did a fasting day today, to see what happens. Was doing them before but it was setting my IBS off, or it could have been hormones. Had Skinny Lizzie sausages, baked beans & bread for tea. Shared a small apple with Dd, she ate most & some went on the floor. However, hurrah - she tried feeding herself for the first time, so proud Grin she is 11m & I was starting to worry she was a bit 'slow' with this. She's been on target or ahead with most other stuff.

Very happy this evening Grin

Emilythornesbff · 16/04/2013 03:08

Ah well done 50 shades. That's great going.

SlimFitWellies · 16/04/2013 07:55

Good morning Fellow Revolutionaries! (LOVE that!)

Right, I think my head is back in gear. i am SO not weighing myself though for a bit...... too frightened.

Today is a veg day for me, and DH has begged for homemade pizzas. So :

fruit and yoghurt
red lentil soup
pizza made with tomato sauce and garlicy mushrooms and the merest smidgeon of cheese with salad.
calorie free drinks all day tooo.
5 pints of water.

Congrats 50!

Emilythornesbff · 16/04/2013 08:29

Morning slimfit let's have a good food day.
I'm aiming for a fasting day today so just had a slice of melon and plan to have some homemade bean soup for dinner.
Marmite drink, water and herbal teas to keep me going throughout the day.
Will report later.
Em.

twinklestar2 · 16/04/2013 09:08

Muesli and ss milk
Wrap, falafels, salad and soup for lunch
Chicken and stir fried veg
Fruit and yog

Labootin · 16/04/2013 09:15

Skinny latte for breakfast
Roasted vegetable and feta salad for lunch

Am planning on just fruit and yoghurt for dinner and an early night to avoid snacking

I've eaten horrifically these past few days.. Whole packet of tuc biscuits? Family size share bag of walkers sensations and half a bottle of kalhua (well there was ice in the ice maker seemed a SHAME not to FFS)

Stillstarving · 16/04/2013 10:20

3lbs off so v happy . Dare not get complacent! Granola for breakfast, fruit, ham salad and yoghurt for lunch, carbonara for tea. Going for 3 mile walk this evening

Stillstarving · 16/04/2013 10:21

Your food all looks nicer than mine. Anyone want to swap lunch? No?? Really???

twinklestar2 · 16/04/2013 11:24

Well done still!

Emilythornesbff · 16/04/2013 11:40

stillstarving I'll definitely swap with you (I'm having a fasting day).

twinklestar now I'm. Raving falafel.

labootin, that's a tiny menu. Is that a fasting day?
( I like the sound of crisps and kahuna Grin )

Emilythornesbff · 16/04/2013 11:41

Sorry, forgot to say vy well done on dropping 3Lb stillstarving

Labootin · 16/04/2013 13:03

We'll done Still

it's 4pm here I've been good ..too good in fact I don't think fasting is right for me .. Low blood sugar levels make me very wobbly.

I thnk soup now and fruit later.. That way I won't get 8pm munchies

[cunning plan]
